EDS (Encrypted Data Store) allows you to hide and protect your files inside an encrypted container. VeraCrypt(R), TrueCrypt(R), LUKS, EncFs, CyberSafe(R) container formats are supported.
for what I now. EDS will do that. you can use the internal filemanager of the app.
You can mount the containers if youre device is rooted. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sovworks.eds.android&hl=en

To avoid future shi** I started to add an anchor A1 actions, "Existing", "New", "Both"...just In case, because the last issue was really traumatic to me :)
>An unofficial build seems to be available here.
Good shot, man! I need to check this out. I was planning to automate the use of this app EDS, It works well for what I can see, but I need to test it further.
>What type of data though, if u care to share?
Logins, Bank, Medical etc. and some sensitive data of other persons, because (when I can) I try to help people with disabilities (like I am) to automate things. The majority of Them don't even know what Tasker is or how it works, but I try to make their lives a little bit easier. Most of the projects that I do for them are related to send medical data/reports/alerts to doctors or hospitals.
This one has been coming up a lot on this Sub lately (for good reason). This app works by encrypting containers (partitions) on the device which allows users to compartmentalize what others see. So at the very least you can limit how much data others can see when you unlock the device.
While I'm not aware of any other programs on a PC that can open Veracrypt containers, I'd stick to using Veracrypt because you don't know how stable or reliable the other program is.
On my Android phone, I'm using EDS Pro to access containers.
Hmmm.... So you want some apps on which you can invest/spend some time on?
Try....
* EDS: play with different types of encryption.
* OpenKeychain: explore about the use of pgp.
* F-droid: explore some non play store apps.
* OpenHub: follow/engage in the development of open source projects.
Regarding widgets and apps similar to them would be.....
