Flow Home launcher.
I'm one of those people who tries every single new launcher released, but eventually goes back to Nova. Not anymore. Flow is basically a better Blinkfeed launcher in that it forgoes the traditional 'grid of icons' approach and uses the main screen to present you a live stream of all your social media, in a beautiful and practical manner. My homescreen finally does something instead of just being a dumb list of app shortcuts.
Flow Home I think I stumbled on this launcher / homescreen app from a lifehacker article a week ago. I was hesitant about it at first, but I really like it. Performance is always an issue on my S3, but this app is always so smooth with no lag. I think my favorite thing is the quick app launch option. It has enough options to keep me happy.
After years of trying every single one of them but always going back to Nova, I finally settled on Flow Home for now. I was honestly really tired of 'setting up' my homescreens, finding good icon packs to go with the setup and the wallpaper, getting frustrated by ugly widgets... so Flow Home has been a breath of fresh air for me. It's basically a live feed of your social media, with icons and app launching being a secondary concern. You can link your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Feedly accounts to it and consume their content right from the homescreen, without ever opening the apps again. There are a couple of themes (I prefer the 'Borderless' one). Look it up if the concept intrigues you.
How about adding another launcher into the mix? In addition to Nova as my main launcher I also use Flow Home https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow&hl=en_GB and sometimes Themer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycolorscreen.themer&hl=en_GB
I have been trying out Flow Home. It is in beta so it has crashed a couple of times and there is also no way to group apps together with folders or categories, but other than that I like it. I was using Action Launcher 3 before and I might switch back to it.
One Drive is available on Android, and it can sync new photos into and out of the phone. So u just need to install it there and it will ask u to login and what do u need to sync and under what conditions.
Outlook is also there, but I never used it - I would assume it can download contacts and mails from a server like it did on windows phone. Once contacts are on your Android phone, google will gladly take care of them and back it up on servers ;)
Depending on your news sources, and phone manufacturer there are couple of ways I can suggest u to get news and social stuff to be quickly scrolled through. 1. HTC phones have that fancy home screen with many news sources, connections with facebook, twitter etc. 2. There are plenty of news or information collection type of apps that have widgets, that will display information (I'm not biggest fan of those, I like my homescreen clean) 3. I can suggest u using launcher called "Flow Home" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow - it's similar to what HTC did, but in my opinion way more beautiful, simple, faster and over all better. 4. There is google launcher, that is google assistant in homescreen form basically, and it gives u news and all that like cortana did.
I can only tell u to think twice when choosing Android phone. 3gb ram would be something u need, and don't listen to people using less then that, Android can't go at 1/2gb ram at this point. Good processor, 1.4x4 and other 4 cores higher then that. If there is expandable storage, that's good, most of the time stock memory is not enough and when u can't add more , u get a bit flustered about it, trust me. Graphic chipset is not that important until u are some hardcore phone gamer. Ah and don't forget to check if there is jack in a phone, Android manufacturers seam to go retarded after apple all the time.
Good luck with android! :D

Hey mate, just an fyi this is the link to Flow Home - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow
I never understood the whole "icons on the homemade home screen" idea. I have icons in my menu. That said, this home screen is probably bad for my health.

There is a menu that you can get by swiping to the left. There is also a mini menu on the bottom right
I prefer to use app swap for my menu: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ebt.appswitch
It is so easy to launch an app... Almost feels like using the old Nokia where id type a bunch of numbers to access an app (snake was menu+2+6+6). Now a game I play Alto is menu+2+5+8+first icon.

Flow Launcher is definitely unique
Hmm, that's hard to guess when I don't know what your level of familiarity with Android is. Seeing that you are using Cyanogen nightlies on a 1+1 phone, you probably already know most of what I know :) Including these...?
In the same vein as PopcornTime, there is also HD Cinema. If you like reading mangas, MangaWatcher is good. Instead of Nova Launcher and the like, you can try Flow Home for a different experience. For white noise, I use TaoMix etc...
If you're a heavy user of social media, Flow Home is the best launcher out there. You can use the invite code BETA16 to access it.
Use BETA16 as your invite code.
