If you sign up for Good Reads, you can scan covers (maybe barcodes also) for your books and keep a digital library!
The GoodReads app will allow you to scan barcodes and keep track of the books you own in "My Books," not much customization of fields though, so you're stuck with the info GoodReads has on the book you scan.

Goodreads beta - ad free with better UI and navigation compared to Goodreads.
Not available on play store anymore (they took it down for whatever reason), you'll have to download it from apkmirror (trusted source apparently).
Goodreads.

Booksloth also does this but they're still working on adding features and of course push updates to ios before Android.

(This is for you too, u/iamdisimba.)
Huh, Good graph.
There is an app I use to track my reading progress called Goodreads (Google Play link), that links other books in series "sets"... kind of a different "timelines" type thing.
For instance, instead of reading Ender's Game first, you could follow <strong>"The Enderverse" series</strong> where Ender's Game is book number 5 in that set, where as the first book, Earth Unaware, starts before ender was even born.
The design isn't the greatest but it gets the job done, goodreads - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodreads
Goodreads for books, although honestly that's more of a wrapper for the website.
SeriesGuide for TV shows and movies. That said... I track my TV shows on Seriesguide BUT I prefer tracking movies on the website Letterboxd.
My Game Collection for video games.
This is already a feature of the Goodreads app
