HSBC may be convenient, but it's one of the worst bank you can choose in terms of ethics. If you want to help the mexican cartels, HSBC may be a good choice. https://www.lemonde.fr/evasion-fiscale/article/2015/02/08/swissleaks-hsbc-la-banque-de-tous-les-scandales_4572333_4862750.html
Be the change you want to see in the world and try choosing something else.
Plus, their app sucks so much it's incredible. I know it because I used to be a client of HSBC a few years ago. Looking at the last google play comments, it looks like nothing has changed. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htsu.hsbcpersonalbanking&showAllReviews=true

Of course. I don't use Revolut as my only bank but it's very handy for small payments and overseas
> You get stats, notifications, and total instant control over your card actions and features and security. Our local banks are in the dark ages compared to this.
Not only that but many banks all over the world unfortunately. Have you seen the HSBC Android app? shudders
I had a whole list I posted a few months back, but lack of Reddit search means I had to look again... I'm not including EE Cash on Tap (Carrier, not bank) or Zapp (not yet available, 1 year overdue).
I can't find the UK banks again. HSBC had it (or on its way), but now are backing Zapp for the UK instead? You can do tap-and-pay for HSBC through their app with a Hong Kong account and the same app...
Looks like possibly any plans to put it in-app have been halted and the banks are either backing Zapp or Apple Pay...
The list I was able to find:
UK: HSBC (?)
EU: Alpha Bank (Vodaphone + select devices only)
AUS:
- CommBank
- Westpac (Samsung only)
Canada: RBC Bank (Bell Mobility only)
Nigeria: Wema Bank
