If you do want to learn more formally at home there is an app called Human Japanese. There is a free version you can try before buying it. It's pretty good so far.

Well, when it comes to the incubator, it's done entirely by volunteers, so to get something added, a few native speakers have to be incredibly devoted to making it happen. I'm sure that, eventually, we'll have Chinese and Japanese (I mean, we're getting Korean), but I don't see it being any time soon, y'know?
I've only ever used the Lite app for Human Japanese, and I enjoy it. The lessons are excellent at explaining things, like grammar features. Each lessons reads like someone is explaining something to you, rather than overly technical exposition of basic ideas. They explain things better than Duolingo does, which is helpful when dealing with a language so different from your own. It also mentions cultural details, which is nice and keeps things from getting boring.
Every word and sentence has an audio clip that you can play to listen to a native speaker say the word, but the only interactivity there really is would be the short quiz at the end of each lesson. Some lessons also have something like a vocabulary matching game at the end, which isn't required to continue to the next lesson.
Human Japanese is not at all like Duolingo, but it's well done and, I think, very helpful. I would absolutely recommend giving it a try. Here's the free version on Google Play. By biggest problem with the app is that it's always landscape, so I have to turn my phone to use it. -,- Why would anyone do this?
I used human japanese for android. It teaches you kana first, for the free version, and then more advanced stuff from there.
I went for a few months at http://www.brisbanejapaneseschool.com/next-enrolment-due and found it pretty good.
As far as apps go, Human Japanese was my favourite. The free version will let you do the first 8 lessons - I ended up buying the full thing.
I like the approach the "Human Japanese" app took: They mix culture, history and learning in one app which would be great for Tamazight imo.

Also, this Moroccan amazigh professor just made an Amazigh learning app:
Check his facebook page which has a video about the UI: https://www.facebook.com/Ahmedbelaa2021
I got recommend this app.. Human Japanese, if your English is good enough (or you are native) it could be quite helpful since everything is explained quite nicely in it
I also hate Duolingo-like apps. But I have to recommend Human Japanese, cause I think it's the best for beginners. It's like a textbook but in app format, so it's really interactive, with a lot of audio clips and a little test at the end of each chapter. There's a free trial version with the first couple of chapters so you can try before buying and there's a beginner and intermediate level. I'd say that by the end of it you're somewhere between N5 and N4.

I use books to check some grammar points or vocabulary more in detail, but the app is just a great way to get started, cause the way you learn is much more organic, whereas books feel like just throw stuff at you hoping you'll memorize it.
I've used both the beginner and intermediate apps for around 5 months, together with some Youtube channels and I can understand around 60% of the interactions on the show. Now I'm starting to read some easy manga, which helps discover new kanji in an organic way, again instead of just relying on memorization (which I hate).
Good luck brother
I just want to follow up to this.
I'm already using LingoDeer, and thought I would try duolingo since it's a well known name. I was not impressed.
And, for those who are interested, Human Japanese and Human Japanese Intermediate on google play are more good teaching apps. More lesson details than LingoDeer, but I wish they had LingoDeer's ability to step through an example word/phrase by word/phrase. Yes, they are a payed app, but I though it was worth it. The links above are to the free trial versions.
Human Japanese and HJ Intermediate are basically just parts 1 and 2.
Here's a link to the lite version for android if you want to try before you buy. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.braksoftware.HumanJapaneseLite
