Please DON'T transfer your PPF account from SBI to ICICI. I've dealt with horrible experience with them since last 2 years. Most ICICI employees are lazy & uneducated about PPF operations.
They send you PPF statement in inland letter that are hard to open
Their PPF mini statement, which can be downloaded in PDF format from Internet banking looks totally crap. It doesn't mention the words "PPF account" anywhere
This financial year, for unknown reasons, could not transfer funds from savings account to PPF. Their phone & email support is of no help. Their "cool" web chat function in iMobile app is no help either. See these chat conversations - 1 & 2. They don't have toll free number, while all Govt banks do
They send monthly, quarterly email statement for Savings, FD, RD, iWish & reward (PAYBACK) points. But, not PPF account
And the cherry on the cake is one person was able to make 13 transactions in PPF a/c, while legally it's only 12 transactions
Applied to transfer PPF from ICICI to Union Bank of India. Over 40 days has passed by, sent multiple emails for concrete update and nothing progressed
Since the transfer is pending so long, going to complaint at Nodal head & Internal Ombudsman at ICICI to speed up transfer
Just today, decided to close savings account to permanently close relationship. Here's the form waiting to be filled
Never think about having ICICI bank to maintain your PPF account. Tell your friends, relatives & neighbors too. Maintain your PPF in SBI or any Govt. bank like Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Dena Bank or Union Bank of India. Go to branch few times and ask whether PPF facility is available or not. You can transfer funds using netbanking from savings to PPF in these Govt. banks
There are NO CHARGES to transfer funds from your exisiting SBI savings a/c to PPF a/c Login to your SBI netbanking > Enquiries > Transaction Limit/Charges
Regarding NEFT charges (one bank to another), all banks follow these charges laid down by RBI. Note that, charges are exclusive of service tax
