Most of them will let you "play with an external player" if you long-press the source link in the list, but there's nothing saying it actually has to be a player app. I use a download manager app to split the file into pieces and download those pieces simultaneously which often can be faster overall. I use LoaderDroid if you're curious - an old efficient downloader, but really just about any download manager should work. I get several episodes at a time onto my phone for later viewing. It's also good to download them first in case the server is slow so there's no buffering.
Check the file type. I only use .Mp4. TTV had a lot of sources with .Flv and .Mkv files which aren't compatible.
I download with Loader Droid. Best downloader I've ever used and you can see the file type before starting.

And to Chromecast, I stream via Web Video Caster (beta).

This was happening to me too. Get this app. Copy the streamable link of what you wanna download and add it into Loader Droid or either open with Loader Droid.
Looks like it was removed. Not sure why.
Here's the APK - http://www.androidapk.ws/app/easy-downloader-pro-apk
Or I know others use Loader Droid which does the same thing. I just prefer EDP - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
I guess Easy Downloader was removed from the Play Store [not sure why], but here's the APK - http://www.androidapk.ws/app/easy-downloader-pro-apk
Or I know others use Loader Droid [if you want a Play Store product] which does the same thing. I just prefer EDP - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
After installing EDP it will come up as one of your "players" when you start a video as long as you don't have a default player set. Here are the steps:
Yes, Showbox has the internal downloader but EDP or LoaderDroid work much faster and are very reliable. When I used Showbox downloader before it was very spotty and I would have to re-start a lot of times. IDK, maybe they fixed it since then.
Can you try out the third-party download manager? These things were found
Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader&hl=en
iOS https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/downloader/id835382053?mt=8

While likely true, LoaderDroid is certainly no slouch and shouldn't be overlooked.
Having both installed, I do find I tend to choose LD over ADM for one reason or another. And with the LoaderDroid Ultimate Link Interceptor add-on installed, there have been many times when LD will recognize a link that ADM does not.
Tip: any download manager that includes "fast/quick/speedy" or some variation of these terms in its title is one you should probably stay away from. Same goes for any download manager that resides at the tail end of a redirect link. Any app that pays sites to unwillingly rip you from your browser to shove their Play Store page in your face is an app not worth having.
I do this with Loader Droid - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
You need a third party downloader. I limit downloads to WiFi with Loader Droid - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
"Loader Droid менеджер загрузок" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
Что-то похожее. Сам пользуюсь иногда
I use Loader Droid. Never had a problem.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
I use Loader Droid for that.
Loader Droid is great.
I have used Loader Droid and it works sililar to JDownloader on the PC and i have had no issues with it.
Use chrome for browsing and for your downloads, use Loaderdroid
Apps I use :LibreTorrent, ttorrent, Flud. For downloading from other sites like zippy, uploaded etc I use LoaderDroid (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader) I use LibreTorrent for torrents since it is open source.(LibreTorrent (Manage, download and share files) - https://f-droid.org/app/org.proninyaroslav.libretorrent) Probably the best way to search torrents is using www.skytorrents.in www.PSArips.com provides mega links as well as other mirrors. Install Mega from playstore and head over to r/megalinks. On other note, RedReader is a good (also) an open source Reddit client RedReader (Client for reddit.com) - https://f-droid.org/app/org.quantumbadger.redreader
I'm using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader but its adds|paid and has non-minimalist interface, which makes it the ugliest app on my tablet.
I almost always download them first. Use the "Play With..." option and use a downloader app as the player. I use LoaderDroid on regular links because it lets me start watching while it's still downloading (I usually wait until it's got 25-33% depending on how fast it's working). The only download app I've found that can handle HLS links is IDM - it does some extra processing after downloading to make them playable, so you gotta wait until it's done to watch. Remember to delete the downloads when you're done watching or you'll eat up all the space in your device.
