Not a dumb question. It is a Virtual Private Network. There are several out there. No free ones are good. I recommend NordVPN. Depending on where you live, you may need it for Showbox to work properly.
From the sidebar, trusted download link.
Also, someone linked an ad-free version if you scroll down a few days
Uncheck use VLC.
Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aboutmycode.betteropenwith
Then install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stefanpledl.localcast
When it prompts you for a player, choose Better Open With.
For PC I recommend 123movies.to. Only if you use an adblocker though.
You can choose the quality of the stream when you click on HD in the player.
Download advanced download manager, instead of downloading torrents use the watch server and click this player instead of your phones video player
A VPN will indeed hide your internet traffic from your ISP, but it's better to use a paid one because free one's are unreliable and don't protect you that well. Something like NordVPN or VyperVPN should do the trick.
I've had the same experience as u/vamplord111; I only stream, haven't used a VPN for years and have been using ShowBox for more years and never gotten a warning from my ISP. If you download, use a VPN - a good free one is ExpressVPN.
When I used to download, I used ExpressVPN and I had no complaints regarding the service. That was a couple years ago, so maybe a better, free has been developed, but most free VPNs are probably about the same until you get into paid services. Check out Express & see what you think. As for paid services, I prefer NordVPN, and they offer free trials if you wanted to check them out.
http://123movies.to is a good online alternative. Big collection of movies and TV shows, most of them with matching subtitles. I recommend an ad-blocker or ad-free browser like YuBrowser.
Clear the Default player. Check out this article it will walk you through it.
https://www.androidcentral.com/how-clear-default-applications-samsung-galaxy-s7
If you don't want to try that look at app "Better Open With"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aboutmycode.betteropenwith
I do know that the videos in ShowBox are streamed from VK.com servers. VK.com is the Russian equivalent of Facebook. I'm guessing that if you can use VK.com in China, you should also be able to use ShowBox..
ExpressVPN is not free: it's free to download, and you get a trial, but it is not free after that. Granted, it's still a really good VPN (by far fastest one I've ever used), but it's definitely not free.
Download from this thread the APK and install it as per usual then buy a VPN like Mullvad to protect yourself before accessing it.
I’ve been using the modified apk’s all along with ExpressVPN and still experienced all the drama of the last few days and still I only have access to torrents not the servers. I would give it a couple days before re-installing and just use Terrarium TV till then because it gets rid of all your favourites and such.
Uninstall updates for the Samsung video player app and turn off auto update. (Source)
EDIT: If you don't want to keep auto update turned OFF, you could try cloning the video player app (the version that works for you) and then turning auto update ON again. The cloned version won't be updated, even with auto update ON.
If yesmovies.to is not blocked by your ISP you can cast those videos from your phone to your Chromecast using Web Video Caster.
To download from server 3 (full length videos) you need a download manager like ADM. Choose 'OTHER PLAYER' from the player menu and hit the 'WATCH NOW' button. Select 'ADM Editor' from the list to download your video.
As a workaround, you should still be able to download from server A using the OTHER PLAYER setting and then opening the stream in Advanced Download Manager.
Try installing a download manager like ADM. Select a movie, choose server 3 and press WATCH NOW. Select ADM Editor from the app-selector that pops up.
ADM will use multiple parallel connections to speed up your download.
EDIT: I've tried other download managers but most of them wouldn't show up in the app-selector..
VPlayer is the crappy video player that the official Movie HD app forces you to install. Its sole purpose it to display ads. For obvious reasons Movie HD is not allowed in the Play Store so this is a way for them to still be able to use the Google ad system with Movie HD.
The official MegaBox HD now uses the same tactics by forcing you to install MPlayer.
I've made a modified version of Movie HD called Movie HD Lite that doesn't need VPlayer but I just discovered HD Cinema which has the same content as Movie HD but, like my Lite version, doesn't force you to install a crappy external player (yet).
You can find Movie HD Lite as well as Show Box Lite and ad-free versions of MegaBox HD and Cartoon HD at my subreddit: r/MovieHDLite
I'll be posting an ad-free version of HD Cinema there soon.
TL/DR: A shitty proprietary video player required to watch anything on Movie HD. ;)
Good question. It doesn't have integrated Chromecast support but if you want to cast from your phone I think you should be able to do so with the help of Web Video Cast(er).
EDIT: I just tried casting from my tablet to the BubbleUPnP server on my Android tv-box and that works great. It even casts the subtitles.
EDIT: Turns out the Movie HD server is in 'whitelist mode'. This usually lasts for a few days. If your device isn't whitelisted you're out of luck right now.
EDIT 2: If you have trouble downloading from MegaBox HD, try downloading with Advanced Download Manager.
Try LocalCast. It should solve the problem you are having with multi-part videos.
BTW, if you use GrowiestBox instead of GrowBox you don't have to delete MX Player.
If you install Grow Box and uninstall MX Player files can be downloaded with Web Video Caster - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.webvideo&hl=en
I use WVC to Chromecast but you can also click "Options" when the stream starts and select "Download." Works great for me running 3.8.8 Showbox for all files.
Here's more from the WVC dev - https://www.reddit.com/r/showbox/comments/2xp1fq/fellow_castafarians_who_use_showbox_i_have/
Personally I don't recommend running Show Box in an Android emulator on Windows. I've tried different emulators but I always ran into problems.
On Windows I would just use solarmovie.sc in my browser. If you use Chrome you can even make a 'web app' shortcut for it on your desktop. (Open the site, click the Chrome menu button and go to More tools|Add to desktop...) You can set the shortcut to open as a standalone window without address bar and navigation buttons. Very much like an app.
I do recommend installing an adblocker extension.
Maybe that's the reason it was changed to only work with MX Player then. If it requires headers to be put in the http request for the video to play at all, then it cannot work with a generic Intent as before as there is no standard way to pass headers. Unless using MX Player which supports a custom "headers" extra in its API: https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/api
Too bad they are not sending a generic VIEW intent with the "headers" extra to let other app eventually handle it. I supposed they do not want to be bombarded with "it doesn't work with external player XXX" angry feedback...
Virtually every one of these apps has an option along the lines of "play with external app" (although Stremio's is a PITA because you have to wait for it to actually start playing for it to appear - really stupid). Get 1DM (formerly IDM) and use that as your "external player" and it will download for you. It even handles HLS (HTTP Live Stream) connections that most other downloaders don't. This way you can use whatever app is working or has the item you need instead of being limited to one app.
ProtonVPN is really good. What I like the most from it is that it collect the least amount of information about you as possible for the app to work. Also does not store information about you activities in their servers.
PIA. Private Internet Access. As I stated, they are the only VPN that has proven, TWICE, in a court of law, that they do not keep logs. The FBI asked for them for 2 cases, and PIA showed up with what they had, 0.
Most have apps in play store. I think ExpressVPN has a free trial you can try to see if it works.
If you decide to subscribe to one, I suggest NordVPN. They were cheaper and better than ExpressVPN, but I don't know if they do a free trial or not.
Look em up in the Play Store. Also, look online for top recommendations. It has been a while since I looked into it and there may be better options out there.
I use Private Internet Access VPN and mine has been working since last night after I uninstalled and reinstalled using the post below, it is still in working order, I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling.
Well, I just checked it on my Android phone, without VPN: quality options greyed out and no server option
However
With VPN turned on (Hotspot Shield Elite, USA server): Winner, winner! So, I don't know if it's then your specific VPN software, or usage tier, or merely an anecdotal abberation.
You can turn them off if you like to. I use this app that allows me to control all the requested permissions from any app on my phone. Take a look and see if it's suitable. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rikka.appops
A workaround can be using a download manager. I personally use Advanced Download Manager, which lets me select it as a video player and download the video.

Hi there, I tried reproducing your problem but I couldn't. I'm using a different VPN app called VPN Master though. Here's my 'fixed' version if you need it.
I've had problems with MX Player closing after some time while streaming. I'm thinking it might be coincidental that the official app worked better for you. MX Player seems to be a little sensitive when streaming (through a VPN).
Good to hear that!
I'd like to point out that, to download movies, you do not rely on torrents. You can also use an external download manager like ADM or the one that's built into ES File Explorer. To do so, you need to configure Show Box to use OTHER PLAYER. You can find this option when you tap the three-dotted menu button, next to the 720p button. Tapping the WATCH NOW button should then allow you to open the stream in your preferred app..
The Crunchyroll apps I'd seen around claimed to unlock all premium features but only blocked ads. Ad-free is enough for me thanks for your work! The test version seems to work perfect. As for the FunimationNow app It seems Adaway/MinMinGuard are able to block the ads but the stream stops for a bit where the ads were supposed to be.
UkTVNow turned out to be quite resilient so that kept me busy for a while. I haven't been able to crack that one yet but I'm working on World News Live24 now and it doesn't seem too complicated.
Not sure if there are better apps for news channels, have you tried the FilmOn app?
No, the Download button won't be visible in the torrent-free version because in the original Show Box it's only shown when torrents are found for the video. Pressing the Download button will always result in a torrent download.
You can however download from Server A (or B or C if available) using the OTHER PLAYER option and an external download manager like ADM. You'll have to press the WATCH NOW button and open the stream in ADM Editor. Note that only Server A has full-length videos.
Hacksaw Ridge is on yesmovies.to.
You can cast it to Chromecast using EZ Web Video Cast.
I could but I'm kinda reluctant if the only change is the icon and I have no indication anything else has changed really. Please let me know if you found any improvement to v4.81 and I'll gladly update my mod. Meanwhile, if you really dig that new icon, you can make a custom shortcut to Show Box using this app :)
Happy New Year!
Server 3 indeed has no download button but you can download from server 3 by installing Advanced Download Manager (ADM) and using the OTHER PLAYER option in Show Box. Pressing the WATCH NOW button will then allow you to open the video in ADM Editor to download it with ADM. Only thing you may have to do is add .mp4 to the filename. ADM will also speed up your download.
Server 3 (the default server) only has a WATCH NOW button. Server 4 and server 8 also have a DOWNLOAD button but those servers have multi-part videos. You can download full-length videos from server 3 by installing Advanced Download Manager. Selecting OTHER PLAYER and pushing the WATCH NOW button will then give you the option to open the stream in ADM Editor to download it.
I hope I can add a DOWNLOAD button for server 3 in a future update of Show Box Lite..
If you're rooted you can set up a symlink and set the mount point to the external storage.
I do this with my Nexus Player. I use a program called Folder Mount.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount
Movies that only have a WATCH NOW button are movies that were uploaded in 1 part.
They can be downloaded by choosing OTHER PLAYER and opening the video in a download manager such as ADM.
These movies can also be opened in other apps like casting apps without the need for MX Player or GrowBox.
I had same problem. There's something on the script of the link that doesn't allow the download. MX Player can deal with the script which is why it's now mandatory.
I use Web Video Caster to download as well as cast to my tv. Works great with the Growbox workaround. - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbits.cast.webvideo
Must install WVC and Growbox. It will pop up as one of your player options. When WVC opens, click "options" then "download."
Pain in the ass... But it is what it is since the hosting of the videos changed a few weeks ago
Looks like it was removed. Not sure why.
Here's the APK - http://www.androidapk.ws/app/easy-downloader-pro-apk
Or I know others use Loader Droid which does the same thing. I just prefer EDP - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zloy.android.downloader
I decompiled the latest app release. It has two files - one contains code to check the internet connection, and the other is the code to display a WebView
.
It's just a web wrapper, with two differences - it sets the user agent to "AndroidAPP
", and it modifies some CSS (web page design code) to hide stuff that presumably advertises the app.
Main file - https://hastebin.com/ezayiquxuc.java Connection checking code - https://hastebin.com/ujojaqatil.java
Overall, the app seems harmless, but a bit redundant.
I have no experience running a VPN while casting, but when using a service like Stremio I would recommend a VPN. If you know where to look you can find modded versions of ExpressVPN for Android, or you just pay for a service like this which might cost you 3 bucks a month
Since they added cast support to lime player it really hasn't bothered me. I want it to play movies.. and it does.
You can always try for yourself, if you don't like it just revert back to an older version from here:
Watch Full Movies and TV-shows online for free. Show Box app for your Android. https://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tdo.showbox
Delete and install an older version from here that doesn't require lime player. Just dont update.
Watch Full Movies and TV-shows online for free. Show Box app for your Android. https://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tdo.showbox
No its not, do not install this app.
Link below is "official showbox" app
Watch Full Movies and TV-shows online for free. Show Box app for your Android. https://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tdo.showbox
I just googled it and scrolled down a page or two looking at the dates, version etc. Now I just ignore it when it asks me to update. Not sure if this is for the older version I have.... Watch Full Movies and TV-shows online for free. Show Box app for your Android. https://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tdo.showbox I think this is the version I have... https://apkpure.com/showbox-app/com.tdo.showbox I think you would need version 5.11 from apkpure. I'm not that good at this so forgive me if I've got anything a bit wrong. That said, I've just installed Typhoon TV on my phone and that seems almost as good as the decent version of showbox.
Thanks, here's the official website for Lucky Patcher:
http://lucky-patcher.netbew.com
I believe for removing ads from an apk you don't need root. Can you confirm this pizza-dude?
If you have a rooted phone, you can of course use AdAway to block ads..
https://protonvpn.com/ for a free VPN. Highly recommended by security experts. If you want faster connections tho, you gotta pay. Free should be ok tho. Better than nothing :)
u/Tattooween has already said it but if you are going to use torrents USE A VPN lol
Torrents are easily traceable back to you.
https://protonvpn.com/ offer a FREE service and are highly trusted. Paying for the next level up does guarantee faster connections. Better than nothing or a knock on your door from the feds lol
It's easy to join MP4 files. You just need to use the right programs. Now there are many kinds of tools available on the internet. They are very intuitive to use.
Source related: http://www.videograbber.net/join-mp4-files.html
Zona - http://zona.ru/en/ - been using it for the past year, its brilliant, pretty much always up to date, is still in development and not being blocked currently.
Main issue you may find is clicking the right source for your language as it is Russian so many of the sources available are Russian. However everything I've seen so far has had an well synced English soundtrack for it so no problems here.
On my Firestick I use Stremio (https://www.stremio.com) with two community add-ons (Piratebay and RARBG) and that alone is all you really need for TV shows and movies, which it works amazingly well for me.
Kapersky is probably the best anti virus out there. Doesn't usually flag up FP's
If I remember later, I will run more tests. You've already removed the app I assume lol
I got a https://real-debrid.com/premium account. I started with the 15 day one just to see if that actually worked and it did. Once I linked the accounts, the buffering chilled. I'll update if I notice any changes.
Install IDM, then use any app that has a "play with external player" type of option & tell it to "play" using IDM. Works great.
If you can download the movies/shows you want to watch, you can use a third party app to cast to your TV. I recommend AllCast as I never have problems with it, there's no lag whatsoever. You can get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.cast
Stremio - since it's "legit" & exists in the Play Store, it doesn't come set up for this. After it's installed, you add optional add-ons from within the app to get the sources you want (some use torrents, so be sure to use a VPN with those).
I also like BeeTV.
You can also peruse r/moviestreamingsites for online-only viewing.
Use IDM. If that stream is served through HLS, then IDM is the only app I know of that knows how to download and convert it to something useable.
I use Filelinked for all my TV app needs.
The following link is for the codes to access the different repos (Download links) Google also brings up loads of results
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codes.filelinkedcodesfordroidadmin2019
Just be sure to have an ad blocker running.
This is the best I've used since Showbox. You can stream and download the newest movies and shows just like on Showbox. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=center.wherecanidownloadfreemovies.cyrosehddotcom
Try Cyrosehd Movie. It's got movies that are in theaters, older ones and tv shows that you can stream or download. It's in the playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=center.wherecanidownloadfreemovies.cyrosehddotcom
You can download Express Vpn from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.expressvpn.vpn&hl=en_IN
After opening, there will be a trial period of 7 days with premium features. When the trial period ends, you can use 10minutemail to generate a new mail.
That's how I've been using it. I hope it helps.
I'm not Too torrent savy but I can speak observationally. From what I gather "waiting for peers" just means getting ready for download and if it doesn't go away/is replaced by a percentage bar within a few minutes then the link is busted. And usually the higher # of seeds means less likely to be busted. However I don't recommend downloading from torrents AT ALL. Too much headache around it. If you set your setting to use "other player" and download this app from the play store. Open this app after clicking "watch now" and it lets you download the server video to your files. Less of a hassle, don't have to worry about whether or not your torrent works or not.
Check out Mullvad, I tried 4 other VPN’s before I landed on them. They’re the fastest one I’ve used and they’re hyper anonymous if you pay with BTC.
Hotspot shield is located in the US so they would have to comply with any legal subpoenas for the connection logs and user data. They’ve also had problems in the past for leaking user data.
Yeah, this happened to me at first too, even whike just streaming a movie, it onky happens for certain movies but its good to download a VPN ust to be safe. I use the VPN Betternet, I've used it on both my phone and my laptop and never had any issues. Its free but runs off of ads, if you just turn it on to download a movie, and then turn it off its all good.
Not sure it actually working without VPN or not.I am using it through VPN. I have read the blog from here and after reading it.I bought PureVPN. working perfectly. No other option than this i guess.
Have you tried looking for tutorials on a NordVPN page or youtube? I've done this a long time ago I don't remember how to do so but I remember watching some video tutorials. Or maybe just go to support and ask.
That doesn’t seem accurate, many people use VPN’s successfully with apps like Showbox like myself for example. The trick is probably to pay for a good one. I know ExpressVPN works because I’ve used it and Mullvad because that’s what I currently use.
This is why I went with an Android Box and got NordVPN. I bought a box from a local Ghostware guy and never looked back. I too am in Canada, and this is the easiest way to still watch Showbox on your TV.
"VPN by Private Internet Access" is the first thing that popped up when i searched "PIA" is that the correct one i should download? I have to pay 3.33 a month which isnt bad at all im just wondering if its the one you got.
You're always going to experience a reduction in speed of your connection through a VPN no matter what the VPN tries to advertise, what matters is how much of a reduction and unfortunately this changes all the time which is why I never subscribe to one for more than a year. That said I've found that ExpressVPN was quite decent, at home I pay for 100mbps / 10mbps which is the highest I can get in my building, I'm guessing because its over 100 years old and I usually get about 102mbps / 12mbps with a ping of 4ms consistently from my ISP. With ExpressVPN running when I first got it a year ago, using their "smart location" servers where they choose what servers in the US to use I would get about 60-70mbps / 8-10mbps but NOW I get about 20mpbs / 11mbps consistently which is not ok considering ExpressVPN is one of the most expensive ones out there and I used to get twice that speed so I would not recommend ExpressVPN.
My year with them is up at the start of May and so far my research has it down too four different ones that I’m still deciding on. NordVPN, VyprVPN, IPVanish and CyberGhost. All are highly rated by several sites and offer apps for android, iOS, MacOS and router based integration and all are around the same price of around $70 USD for 1 year. They get cheaper if you buy more years but again I personally wouldn’t do that because of my past experiences. I still have some research to do on them, I’ve seen a lot of advertising for Nord lately so thats one of the things I’m looking into because generally when a company does a bunch of advertising its to distract from something bad or because they lost a bunch of customers from doing something bad.
Also considering Mullvad...forgot about that one.
Hey, thank you for your reply. I do have still some questions. I live in The Netherlands and since 2014 it is illegal to download copyrighted material here so downloading and uploading are both illegal. But do you think that the ISP can see they see it is copyrighted material that is getting downloaded from VK? I won't use the torrents option, but I want to be sure if the servers option is just like something as watching something on YouTube? And is it allowed to download videos from VK in general because for example on YouTube that is against the ToS.
Edit: And does the help of a free VPN like Betternet help or something?
Sorry but localcast sucks nothing beats BubbleUPnP with its build in on the fly transcoding very handy if your casting media to a limited device like a Chromecast that doesn't support a certain codec and normally wouldn't play but with BubbleUPnP it'll transcode it on the fly and play anything even on old basic 'smart tvs' etc
A workaround can be using a download manager. I personally use Advanced Download Manager, which lets me select it as a video player and download the video.
I also don’t download shows through showbox sometimes they get downloaded in multiple parts and it just annoying. Try using video downloader. Just select it as you video player in showbox when you hit watch if I remember. Then it will download it instead of playing it. It worked a lot better for me but I don’t use it anymore since I can’t get showbox to work reliably anymore. Here is a link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobidev.apps.vd
Hi Max_Roc, you're welcome :)
I'm assuming Mouse Toggle for Android TV will work with this, I don't know of any (free) alternatives..
There are 2 flavors of my mod, one with and one without torrent/p2p functionality. In the torrent-free version it will be impossible to accidentally use torrents. :)
Have you tried CetusPlay? It's a newer app by the makers of Wukong Remote.
EDIT: I guess you mean CetusPlay as the revamped version of Wukong remote..
Does your android box run KitKat? If so, you might be missing the Tun module. On a rooted device you may be able to fix this using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aed.tun.installer
This sounds like a video player issue. Try different (external) players (for instance, VLC) and different settings. Try software (SW) decoding appose to hardware (HW) decoding.
Not an answer to your question but maybe this is useful:
You should be able to to download from the stream source using the OTHER PLAYER setting and opening the stream in Advanced Download Manager.
Does it only occur when using torrents? As a workaround you might want to try downloading from SERVER 3 (SERVER A in v4.8) using ADM + OTHER PLAYER
Sorry to hear that. I'm not able to reproduce your issue, TV news is also loading fine for me. Just to try to pinpoint what may be the cause of this problem; what version of Android are you on?
Things you can try: use a VPN/proxy app (for instance Shadowsocks) to see if that changes anything.
I usually don't use a VPN but I have never heard of anyone in my country (The Netherlands) getting in trouble for casually downloading or streaming stuff. I tend to stay away from torrents though because I think most people that got in trouble were caught using torrents. I have a free, open source VPN client on my Android devices called Shadowsocks and that seems to be working fine..
From the Play Store: Eros Now. You need to sign up for a free account (a mailinator.com address will do) to be able to watch the free selection.
I use an app called download accelerator plus to Dave direct to SD card on my tab s 8.4 with terrarium TV, should work with Showbox too but I haven't used Showbox in a while since I find terrarium much better.
+1 for ADM. It can download straight to SD-card on Lollipop and Marshmallow. Install ADM, set Show Box to SERVER 3 and OTHER PLAYER and press the WATCH NOW button. It will let you open the stream in ADM Editor where you can set the download destination. ADM also speeds up the download.
EDIT: If you're on KitKat, I think you need root to be able to download to external SD card..
There's no download button for server 3 (this is also the case in the original Show Box, I'm not sure why) but you can use a download manager like Advanced Download Manager to download from server 3 by selecting "Other Player". The download button is available for server 4 and 8 but those servers have split video files.
Did you install it on a non-phone device?
EDIT: Movie HD (Lite) doesn't seem to like some non-phone devices like tablets and Android-boxes.
If your device is rooted you may be able to fix this by changing your IMEI. You can do this by installing the XPosed framework and using Device Id Changer.
EDIT: Don't bother, this doesn't seem to work..
