I use Shadowsocks for this, as it also encrypts traffic. You might also have luck with Proxydroid, if you need support for regular proxies.
Per application hacking was a great module, but it broke ages ago.
Does it work with other Shadowsocks apps? I use [this one](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.shadowsocks) with an Outline server. You can try that out (just import the URI) and see if it's a problem with the Outline app or VPN/proxy apps in general.
Sorry to hear that. I'm not able to reproduce your issue, TV news is also loading fine for me. Just to try to pinpoint what may be the cause of this problem; what version of Android are you on?
Things you can try: use a VPN/proxy app (for instance Shadowsocks) to see if that changes anything.
I usually don't use a VPN but I have never heard of anyone in my country (The Netherlands) getting in trouble for casually downloading or streaming stuff. I tend to stay away from torrents though because I think most people that got in trouble were caught using torrents. I have a free, open source VPN client on my Android devices called Shadowsocks and that seems to be working fine..
Much appreciated. Let me know if you find some trickery.
My server is located in Sweden. Not too many hops from Shanghai. Unfortunately I also think it could be my ISP (OCN) that is to blame.
I'm only talking about the Android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.shadowsocks that is signaling a successful connect but I can't see any activity on the server's end. Any other apps that works better?
Sorry, what? Do you mean what proxy I use? I use Shadowsocks with the server hosted on my VPS. (Obviously there's a chicken and egg problem with downloading the app from Google Play since Google is blocked in China, so I download the APK on my computer and install it via adb)
I think OP is lying, if you at closely at the proof he posted, you can see a paper airplane icon in the status bar, that's a persistent notification from Shadowsocks running its VPN service. Why is he running VPN if it's not blocked?
Also https://en.greatfire.org/www.reddit.com shows that Reddit has been blocked for the last 3 days.
Installed it on my Raspberry Pi. Now I have a my own, personal SOCKS5 proxy tunnel!
Huh I thought that they always blocked 4chan with IPO.
If rooted you can use dnscrypt If not rooted you can use either VPN or Opera Mini
There are some workarounds to these problems. Although I do believe that using a VPN is more convenient than all these workarounds. I'll just put them here in case someone is curious.
On PC or Mac, there are tools like Proxifier allows all your applications that do not support proxies to go through a SOCKS or HTTPS proxy. Also the Shadowsocks client itself supports system proxy.
On iPhone, the proxy works just like a VPN by using some existing apps like wingy that supports Shadowsocks, you'll see the VPN icon once you are connected. And you are able to choose if you want it to work globally or not.
On Android, the official app works as a global proxy, once you start it, it will route the whole network through it. So it's as easy as using a VPN.
And there's ShadowVPN, which is a VPN implementation using same obfuscation design of Shadowsocks, but there's no stable release yet and it seems it has stopped developing. The setup won't be easier than openVPN as far as I can tell.
edit: format.
Not an answer to your question but have you tried using a VPN app like ShadowSocks? Just for troubleshooting sake..
Shadowsocks also has this.
Hmm, that's interesting. It could mean that your device is 'double blacklisted', in other words: its actual device ID is blacklisted and also the fake device ID that Movie HD Lite type1 sends to the server is blacklisted. It could also mean that your ISP is blocking access to the Movie HD server. You can test the latter by running Shadowsocks to see if that changes anything.
Another solution would be to try HD Cinema, another app by the makers of Movie HD. It seems to have the exact same content as Movie HD but it doesn't force you to install VPlayer. You can download it here. I'll be making an ad-free version of HD Cinema soon..
for laptop i use dnscrypt on ubuntu
on android use shadowshock
