This plugin will simplify things considerably. It will trigger a profile at sunrise, then make the task do whatever you want for the alarm. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight
There's a plug-in which can help you.
I have it set so my screen brightness goes up when I connect to my car's Bluetooth, but only from sunrise to sunset.
Very impressive, however as much as it pains me to say it, I think this plugin that I use daily does everything this does plus some.
>still be no way a new user could know in advance which it was
That is the point.
>good design gives predictable options, not surprises or lotteries.
I'm totally with you. I love the filter searching but to do that on context level would require an overall option for both Events and States together.
Maybe the compromise could be a preference option to "merge" both lists there: Show Events and States as one list: On/Off.
That would make it even easier to find plugins that exist only in one category, e.g. Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-in which can be found under ... State, as it uses From - To times ;-) (I really love your Day/Night, Sunrise/Set help!).
First create the icon using Autowear.
Give it a name - I used 'HueIcon'. In Icon, you can get one of your own but I just used the Hue application icon.
Use the Left/Top options to place it and the Width/Height options to size it.
In 'Tap' I have 'task=:=HueScreen'. HueScreen is the task in Tasker that will run when tapped on.

In Tasker I have a profile which is active when I'm connected to my WiFi and it is the evening (this variable comes from a plugin called Twilight (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight). Hasn't been updated in almost 6 years but still works well.

When those conditions are met, it runs a task where you select Plugin -> Autowear -> App and there select 'Show' in 'Action' and 'HueIcon' (the name given before) in AutoWear Element Name.

Finally, create an exit task that hides the button when those conditions are not met.
Yes, you can use all kinds of things to grab the sunrise/sunset times, I prefer the Twilight plugin. You can just put twenty minutes after sunset in the Profile, or use Nautical twilight (which is likely what you want, basically means no light even off the ocean).
For ~~2~~ the second 1, you can use AutoInput to detect the color of a pixel on the screen (or use Java on a rooted device). That's if the scene only needs to be static when run, not dynamically changed at sunset/sunrise.
There's a Twilight plugin for Tasker but I've no idea how well it would synchronize with whatever Google thinks is day/night.
The turn on/off cellular data requires a rooted device. And, for the daylight check, I highly recommend that free plugin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight (play store page states it doesn't work anymore buy I've found no issue with it so far)
No update doesn't mean outdated/not working, e.g. Twilight (one of my best), pretty unknown, last update 11-26-2013 or Tasker plugin for Harmony (5.0 *, 01-31-2017) and still in daily use (A11). This is said very often by beginners, btw.. These profiles are so old and surely not working... No, the vast majority is still working. Same for videos. Even if you see the blue UI.
If you are not sure, don't know or don't tell us about your future usecases (i.e. focus) your question is pretty meaningless. What you'll get is a description quite similar to the one at Play Store with a bit user experience — if that fits to your needs or not. But all rated with 4.5 to 5 at least.
And what would be the result of your inquiry? Are you going to install the "top ten/twenty" then? Better learn one by one. You're asking for focus? There are so many different here. I've more than 30 plugins, I'm not using all. If I would tell which ones I don't use would cause big discussions. No, it wouldn't, but some would say I can't live without this one or that one. How would you know which one to choose?
>by Joao himself, others by Marco Stornelli, Join, etc.
Btw, Join is not a dev but is highly recommended (in my case, Idk if it's also in your focus).
Here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight&hl=es&gl=US you can read " ** βETA version, please report any problems and bugs **
THIS IS A CONDITION PLUG-IN FOR LOCALE AND TASKER. IF YOU DON'T HAVE LOCALE OR TASKER, YOU DON'T NEED THIS APP.
* The app seems not to be working with Tasker at the moment. We are working on fixing this."
In the same link, you can see that the last update was November 16, 2013
Anyway, I'll download and try it.
I use this plug in https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight to create a variable for whether is is nighttime or not. You can set the time +/- the sunrise/sunset times based on your (or fixed) location.
Hasn't been updated since November 2013 but still works fine (on Oreo anyway).
To check sunrise/sunset maybe youd'better use this plugin: Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-in
Despite that comment on the PlayStore page "The app seems not to be working with Tasker at the moment. We are working on fixing this." it works perfectly on all my devices
>(I have the time stamp already)
How are you getting that timestamp? You should insert the subtraction in whatever is supplying the timestamp.
Alternatively, Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-in can work with offsets. Note that it works only as a State, not an Event.
If you go the UTC seconds route like others suggest, you'll probably need to correct for your timezone, which probably differs part of the year if your location observes DST.
I've been using a handy plugin called Twilight where you can set the sunrise/down to variables and act based on it
Like this this plugin called twilight? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight
This might make it super easy for you. Check this app out:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight
Yeah. Should've included that.
Using Tasker and this plug-in, the wallpaper changes at sunrise/sunset every day.
For this case you can use the Twilight plugin. Add Context/State/Plugin/Twilight. The configuration should be clear.
Sunrise/Sunset (and many more options) plugin, works for me, try it.

API's via Tasker or AutoWeb, local data sets, etc. (Plus, other plugins like Twilight, etc.)
Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-in
No updated since ... November 2013!
Still using it.
Works perfectly on all my devices.
Personally I use the Twilight plugin.
Have you tried this plugin instead of using APIs and programming? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight
Yeah it changes at sunrise/sunset. Made it using Tasker and the Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-In.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terdelle.twilight
This is what I use and it works perfectly with Tasker.
no one elses the Twilight Plugin?
