Although not so similar to Waterdeep, Maquis is a simple worker placement board game that I like a lot for android, w/ a free trial: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.boardnaut.studios.maquis.android&hl=en
Maquis Board Game - A cool single player worker placement game. The in game tutorial isn't great, I learned to play by watching a youtube video of a guy playing the print & play physical version.

Many of the other games I would recommend have already been mentioned in this thread, but another one I really like is D & D Lords of Waterdeep.
This is a very entertaining single player worker placement/resource management board game that has been out for awhile on Android and is coming soon to iOS, the app was submitted to Apple on July 9th.
Maquis Board Game is a fun little solo worker placement/resource management game for Android, I recommend checking it out: Maquis Board Game
Another one I haven't seen mentioned here yet is XenoShyft: XenoShyft
Other titles I would suggest looking into on android are: Neuroshima Hex, Puzzle Strike, Suburbia, and Castles of Mad King Ludwig.
Just speaking up in case you have an Android device. Martin has talked about possibly implementing it on iOS.

Just in case y'all didn't know, there's an app version, which is a very good implementation of the game. (I actually thought it was a game designed for mobile devices!)
If you're on the fence, I'd give that a whirl to see if you enjoy it.
