Unfortunately Riot doesn't have an API around client chat so all apps on the store are done through various workarounds/backdoors which inhibits their functionality.

Supposedly Riot announced an official League app for the upcoming season that will include chat among other things.

Try this app if you're on an Android device, you can chat without people spam inviting you, I use it in class or my traverse I'm not sure if there's an equivalent for iOS though.
