Could be great for the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, which is less expensive than the Pokémon Go+ (around $25) and is way more useful.
I'm not sure about 1 and 1S since IIRC we can't have access to the "tap" feature (i.e. detecting when user taps on the sensor), but the 2 has a dedicated button that can already be programmed to do stuff.
I had (lost this week) a mii band 2. I used this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton&hl=en_US . I used it to launch podcasts when I tapped twice. There is a 'Function for double tap' that you set to 'Send Command to Tasker'.
I used this application in the past with my MiBand2 with some success: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton&hl=en_US
There's a thread talking about using it with the MiBand3
https://www.reddit.com/r/miband/comments/98568h/mi_band_3_func_button_tasker_mi_band_2_func_button/
Yea there are apps to do screenshots from Mi bands, I used this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton
You can set up the button to do a lot of things depending if you tap 1 time, 2, 3 times...
Hi, i've got mi band 3 and i have MiBand 2 Func Button ( Play store ).
He recognize the wrist movement but nothing happen on single/double/triple tap.
Have you got experience with the same problem?
Music requires additional app, there are few, I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton
similarly for great notifications (customizable and with sender/message) one needs something, e.g. MiBandTools
This app does exactly what you need. Mi Band 2 Func Button. I used it for quite a while. Trial version limits you to something like 50 clicks, you'll have to either buy it, or reinstall every time.
Workaround (root): Modifying app's shared preferences config file does reset the counter.
I don't know any way to respond in Tasker every time the band vibrates. But, you can respond to button presses.
My solution has been to more or less abandon the original tools (Mi Fit app) and replace it with these:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en_GB
'Mi Band Master' is also a nice app but I preferred these personally.
if your wife is complaining about you always staring at your smartphone checking the BTC price, now you can make her happy, and look at your $15 fitness tracker instead.
You just need a Xiaomi MiBand2, an Android phone and the following apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Unfortunately you have to pay few bucks for these apps, but if you have some money invested in BTC, you probably are going to have a lambo on the next few years, so this is not a problem, right?
Open the "Mi Band 2 Func" app and set the values as shown on the following image:

Than open Tasker and follow these steps:
Create a new profile: event -> system -> intent received: action=mb2_tap2 (press back button to save and exit)
Add a new task (and give a name like "btc price" if you want)
Add an action: Net -> HTTP get: ServerPort=https://www.bitstamp.net/api/ticker/ (press back)
Add an action: Code -> JavaScriptlet: Code=var jsonData = JSON.parse(global('HTTPD')); var price = jsonData.last; setGlobal('%BtcPrice', price); (press back)
Add an action: Plugin -> Mi Band Tools -> Configuration -> Custom pattern(enabled): VT(9, %BtcPrice) (press ok and four times back)
Enjoy :-)
Yep, you can use 2 apps to do that, both paid however.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xtracer.miband2funcbutton
And
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Setup the first app to send your button press to tasker
And then in Tasker:
Create a Profile with the following details: Event > System > Intent Received. In Action, put: mb2_tap1 for 1 tap mb2_tap2 for 2 taps mb2_tapN for N taps
Then setup your task/s as usual.
I use this on my Miband 2.
You could try this but it was made for the mi band 2 so no guarantee that it would work.

I haven't used it but if you're on Android this app lets you assign functions to the button.
You could try miband funcbutton.
