For anyone interested, there's a game for Android (maybe iOS too, idk,) called Minesweeper Collector with some RPG elements to it. I've been having a lot of fun with it lately.
I'm loving Minesweeper: Collector https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.griffgriffgames.minesweeper
It's basically good ol' Minesweeper, but a bit more graphically appealing, and more engaging thanks to the things you collect at the end of every stage(I think there are also pets, but I don't know how they work, because they're locked until level 10; I'm at level 3 atm).
I have to admit, I was never able to properly play Minesweeper when I was a kid. My father's PC had it, but I think the instructions were in English and I, at the time, couldn't speak it. I've always wanted to learn how to play it but I was also super lazy(I still am tbh).
This game taught me how to play and I'm super happy about knowing what to do, and not just clicking random tiles hoping it's not a bomb. Maybe that's the only reason I'm so stocked about it. But the satisfaction of completing a very difficult level, all by myself, simply putting my brain at work... is immesurable.
10/10 would recommend(and I actually am).
Minesweeper: Collector (PlayStore)
This one is quite "friendly" in terms of UI. Has lots of additional play modes, too. Puzzles, hex grids, power-ups, etc.
I've been playing a free Mine Sweeper that really enjoy. Has hundreds of unique levels with square and hex maps, you can earn pets to help you, and has a hard-mode "Tower of Power". It has some pay-to-unlock features, but I've been playing daily for years without putting a dime into it.
I used to play the clean one but then I realize, just like you I want progression, so I'm currently having this, pretty basic on minesweeper side (no stats) but it has levels, though only squares and hexagon, I really want to learn solving triangle ones but the game that has triangle shapes don't have progression.

this one has ads and IAP but hear me out. there is a one time purchase to remove the ads and you don't need to buy anything else. what makes this one worth it is the progression. instead of just playing meaningless game after game, you can work to unlock puzzles and pets (which give you abilities during games). There's also minefields with hexagonal spots instead of squares which adds another twist. There's even a PVP mode. And if you want you can just play classic minesweeper at any size you want. Hands down the best minesweeper experience.
If you like Minesweeper mechanics i can recommend Minesweeper: Collector :
A ton of content for a free game and a lot of collection stuff :)
The one I've been playing around with is called "Minesweeper Collector". It has regular maps, but has a number of shaped ones too. It's a fun twist, and can get really hard. This one can have ambiguous solutions, but it's unique in that you win if you flag all the mines, you win, even if it's not all revealed. So if there are two squares, you know there's 1 mine left, you can check one, and if you don't win, you can check the other one.

Oh boy, let me introduce you to Minesweeper Collector.
It's the multiplayer version that's killer. I've probably played 400 hours of it in my life and barely broke into the top 20 players. It's easy to get into a "flow state" while playing and just meditate for a while.
For any of those our there weigh Android devices there is a great RPG like version of minesweeper called Minesweeper Collector. Online mode and everything. Pretty neat.

I just finished all of the sort of puzzle levels of Minesweeper: Collector, and I loved it. It does require a little bit of English to get going, but it's Minesweeper. Once you're playing it, you don't need to read to understand what you're doing. There is one IAP available, it is absolutely, positively optional. In the puzzle type levels, there's no high score, but you can play classic minesweeper and get both record times and win streaks.

I also really enjoy Nonograms Katana, although it doesn't have any scores. It's a puzzle game with just numbers and filling in spaces, so there's no language really involved in playing at all.

If you haven't tried Minesweeper Collector, I'd say it has just as much polish and replayability as this.

Reminds me a lot of this game on Android. Really fun game.
Have you ever tried this: Minesweeper Collector
I enjoy Minesweeper: Collector. It's free, with one IAP available to unlock bonuses that you can definitely live without. The kind of IAP that mostly serves as a thanks to the developer.

Nonograms Katana is also good, and it has enough free puzzles to keep you going for a long, long time. I assume the IAPs are for more puzzles.

Finally, Wordbubbles. You get free hints, but you can buy more if you want.

Hope those work! There is at least one, maybe two more Sorcery games, too.
That's a great idea!
I'm gonna try to test for a few days and give you a better feedback but atm i think the controls, the way they are now, makes the game kinda slow to play. That's coming from a guy who play minesweeper a few minutes almost every day.
If i could advise you on how to improve that i would say:
Tap to reveal a square
Hold to put / remove the mark on a square (instead of toggle the Tap mode)

Also you can improve the controls vastly by doing something like:

Tapping the leftmost "2" should mark the remaining two surrounding squares, since the other squares next to it are already open and none of them is a bomb.

Tapping the "1" in the middle row should open the remaining two surrounding squares, since the other squares next to it are already open and the one bomb next to it is already marked.

If you want / have the time you can try Minesweeper Collector to see how the controls were implemented here, it just makes the game more fluid and nice to play.
On Android I really like this version of minesweeper https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.griffgriffgames.minesweeper
