Once again, hardware is not the problem here. It's the developers who were bruteforcing indie crap onto higher end of hardware.
I mean, I bought Modern Combat 5 the week it came out for $5.99. A couple months later it went free to play and got filled with IAPs and ads for IAPs.
I also remember when Asphalt 8 was free to play but it was good. Yeah, you could by cars or credits but you didn't have to. You could grind and get whatever you wanted (though, the grinding wasn't unreasonable). On Windows I bought the starter car set and on Android I spent maybe $25 in the game.
Now, it's hot garbage. You have to pay with microtransactions of you want to race online all day. Some cars can only be unlocked with microtransactions, now.
Gameloft basically became what EA is now before it was cool.
It's kind of depressing because a lot of the games on Android, that I loved, I no longer even want installed, taking up space :(
I think the only non P2W mobile competitive game is chess.

Besides that, the only serious card game is Hearthstone.
Modern Combat 5 is FPS and multiplayer.
Maybe Shadowgun: DeadZone? It's 3rd person, over the shoulder, instead of FPS, though.

MOBA: Vainglory, The Witcher Battle Arena, Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft
