Yeah, it's one of the inconveniences of living in a metro area where the municipalities didn't coalesce into a single city government - everything is done town-by-town, including Hubway. The best thing we can do is encourage our city councillors to dedicate additional city money to get Hubway for the full year, like Cambridge (Hubway operates largely via city subsidy - somewhat like the T - and its deployment of stations is coordinated with the city DOT).
Also, if you're a Hubway member or ever have occasion to borrow ~~one~~ a Hubway bike, check out the 3rd party apps that show you where stations are and where there are spots available:
You can also check out the station map before you leave the house to get an idea of where Hubway stations are in your neighbourhood.
Edit: Grammar - you would more likely have occasion to borrow a Hubway bike, not a Hubway member.
