This app is also very good, but it's up to you between Muslim pro and this.
Very true, I had not thought of that.
I have an app that tells me when to pray, etc. I just go by that. I hope that's okay.

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu! Here's my advice:
Pray one salah. That's it. Just do that. Download Muslim Pro if you've got an Android phone so you know the prayer times and just pray that one salah. And while you're prostrating, ask Allah to forgive you and thank Him for guiding you and ask Him to continue to guide you.
Then pray the next salah. And the next. Start making time for Allah SWT and remembering Him. And go to the mosque when you can and increase your knowledge.
Remember Allah throughout the day and implement His religion. Do things just to please Him. Pray your salah. Eat only with your right hand. Don't use foul language. Don't drink. Don't smoke. Watch lectures online from respected scholars inshaAllahu ta'ala. Do your best to follow what Prophet Muhammad ﷺ brought from Almighty God. Read the Qur'an.
And when you fall short, ask for forgiveness, intend to never do that sin again, and move on because Allah will forgive anything if you're sincere. Allah has favored you by putting a desire to follow His religion in your heart. Say alhamdulillah. All praise is for Allah.
May Allah forgive us and guide us and grant us contentment. Ameen.
>On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
>I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.
As-salamu alaykum.
Welcome to Islam, May Allah make you a blessing for us and a light for those around you.
Muslims mainly used to use calendars with prayer times from their mosques, but today we use an app to inform us of prayer times.
For prayer times this app will give you all 5 when you put your location in. It will also provide tools like Qiblah (The direction of Mecca) and others: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitsmedia.android.muslimpro
To learn how to pray, I used this app: It gives you the instructions for all 5 prayers. You can focus on only the fardh prayers to become accustomed to it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quranreading.stepbystepsalat
If you are on iPhone, try searching the same names on the App Store.
In regards to those words, most of them sound exactly how they are spelt. It's no big deal if you can't pronounce them, but as you start to read the Qur'an and become accustomed to it, it will become second nature to you. Also the Arabic used in the Qur'an, is not exactly the same as the Arabic used in the modern world, it's an older and more formal form of it.
I really enjoyed reading your thread. Thanks for sharing.
Since you have some Christian Background I would recommend one person that is very knowledgeable in both the Bible, and Quran, and that is Ahmed Deedat. This is a video of him talking about Jesus Christ in Christianity and Islam
>But maybe I'm over thinking it. Is it really that hard as a native English speaker to learn Arabic?
Don't worry I don't speak Arabic, but I still try to read the Quran in Arabic. You will get double the reward for trying your best to read the Quran in Arabic.
>Narrated Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Such a person as recites the Qur'an and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And such a person exerts himself to learn the Qur'an by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward." https://sunnah.com/urn/46140
To your question about the Current state of Islam, and people going through these trails, and tribulations. You have to understand that this world is a test, and Allah tests us in many ways. It's for us to overcome these tests. Allah says in the Quran.
>Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said,"When is the help of Allah ?" Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.(2:214) https://quran.com/2/214

I hope this helps a little. Thanks for taking your time to read it. Feel free to ask anymore questions. :)
>What are the structures (I'm not sure what word to use at all) for each prayer? By this, I mean, in some prayers, you go down, go instantly up, then go down, then read, then go back up, then go down, and then read the long thing at the end (Eid also has a special one if that helps). I really don't know what to Google to find the respective one for each prayer

>What do I do if I'm late for a specific prayer? I know it's obviously best to be on time as possible, but if I'm 10 minutes late for a prayer, is that ok? What if it's something more extreme? What's the generally accepted amount of time to be late by (if there is any, or if I am very late for a prayer, can I make up for it)?
>But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil (19:59) Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.(19:60) https://quran.com/19:59

You won't get penalized for accidentally forgetting to pray. It happened to the prophet (PBUH) Just make sure you make it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvrWvp4Xq2U
>Is there an easy way to learn the last part of prayer, just before you say Salam to the right and the left? (I think it's called Ayat Al Kursi) I don't know how to do it, I have no idea what I used to do as a kid, and I know it's really long. Whilst I'm trying to learn it properly, is it ok if, during prayer, I have it on in the background or something? I could try and read along
You can read Ayat Al-Kursi after the salah if you want. It's not a must, but it has it's benefits. To your point I think you're referring to Learning tahiyyat. Here's a simple vid so you can learn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0KqEHbIlqo&t=7s
For Ayat-Al Kursi just have it on repeat, and InshAllah you will learn. That's how I learned mine. Trust me if you say it after every salah, when you're just walking or doing your normal stuff you'll get the hang of it.
Here are some benefits you can get from reading the Ayat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfdtgi3atpU
>Does a shower count as wudu? Or does it have to be in the specified steps? I was told as a kid that I can just shower and I have wudu, which now, when I think of it, could be really bad
I don't know, if I have any doubt. I just make wuhdu after the shower Here's a video on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5tAXxxSwgU
>What are the rules on gaps between someone I am reading with? I do not go Mosque, but as a kid, when I was there, I was told something along the lines of 'Shaytaan is in between the gaps of you, so you need to be ankle to ankle', but the very few times I have been in a Mosque and prayer has been on, there's been no call for that, and people don't bother closing the gaps (though I went to my first Jummah prayer like 2 months ago, at a somalian mosque, and they were all closing the gaps)
Here's an awesome vid about the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSCKgtjr5S0
>Whats up with people putting up the finger next to the thumb in Sujood (I think it's called Sujood, when you are sat down)? I see nearly everyone do it, and putting the top bit of their finger up and down. Is that required to do? What's the point of it? If I do have to do it, what times during the Sujood do i have to do it?
Scholars have different opinions on this. The best way is to follow what the Prophet (PBUH) did. https://sunnah.com/nasai/13/90
>Is there a reliable source I can use for prayer times? Google seems to give alot of different results..I'm not sure if websites need updating or what, they could be outdated

Assalamu alaykum, Alice! Welcome to the ummah!
May Allah bless you and guide you. Here is a great list of introductory information from r/islam.
Here's a beautiful video on the daily prayers; instructions as well as some history. And here is an Android app which, among many other helpful things, tells you when its time to pray. If you don't have an Android device you can find prayer times here.
For an online copy of the Qur'an you can go to Quran.com or get the Android app here. There are very informative free online classes on the SeekersGuidance website as well as podcasts. Islamic Online University also has wonderful free online classes as another user mentioned. I also recommend you watch lectures by Islamic scholars as often as you can. Some great ones are Yasir Qadhi who has a beautiful series on the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ here, Mufti Menk, Omar Suleiman who has a new series coming out for Ramadan here about qualities which God loves, Hamza Yusuf, Nouman Ali Khan, and Bilal Philips.
Now, I know this is a lot to take in. But just take it a step at a time and don't think you've got to learn every single thing in one day. Keep learning and developing in Islam and asking Allah for help and guidance along the way. Also, subreddits like r/Islam, r/converts, r/reverthelp, r/hijabis, and even r/izlam are good for learning and reaching out to fellow Muslims for help.
People would have different opinions, but the majority would agree that Abullah Yusuf Ali's translation is good one to start with and it's an encyclopedia of the Quran.
Also check out these other sources.
Quran.com If you hover over each verse it will give you it's meaning. It also has the translation under the verse.
If you have a mobile.
Muslim Pro is another good one.
Here's a tutorial on all the daily prayers.
Here's an interactive website for learning to pray.
Here's a book on how to pray from Amazon.com
Also I recommend this app. It tells you when its time to pray and it has the entire Qur'an, an Islamic calendar, fasting tracker, etc. It's a really useful app mashaAllah.
Also, here is a post with a ton of introductory info about Islam in general.
Allah bless you.
Assalamu alaykum!
Absolutely! You can pray Dhuhr any time from when it starts all the way up until Asr starts. You can pray Asr any time from when it starts all the way up until Maghrib starts. You can pray Maghrib any time from when it starts all the way up until Isha starts. You can pray Isha any time from when it starts all the way up until Fajr starts. Fajr starts at dawn and ends at sunrise.
But, prayers can be made up once they're missed. If you sleep through Fajr, for example, you should pray it as soon as possible with a feeling of remorse and ask Allah for forgiveness. Same for missing any of the five prayers.
I recommend you get this app. It'll notify you when it's time to pray. It has lots of other great stuff as well. It's got the whole Qur'an along with an English translation, an Islamic calendar, etc. It's super helpful.
Here's some great introductory information from r/Islam about prayer and tons of other stuff. Also, you can take free online islamic classes here and here.
If there's a mosque in your area you should go speak to the Imam, tell him you're new to Islam and you want to learn about prayer and anything else you need to know.
May Allah guide you and grant you paradise. Ameen.
Feel free to pm me if you need anything else, but I'm not very knowledgeable. I'd recommend posting questions to this sub or r/islam.
I love your username, btw.
You should get Muslim Pro app if you have Iphone or if you have Android It's really helpful :)

Assalamu alaykum, sister! Welcome to Islam!
May Allah bless you and guide you.
Yes, permanent tattoos are forbidden but as another user pointed out there are permissable non permanent options.
Now, ideally you can go to a mosque and ask for help and they'll be glad to help you and welcome you! But here are some great online recourses as well:

To convert to Islam, say this:
Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa Allah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullah
I bare witness that none is worthy to be worshipped except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
If you want to learn how to pray, then you may see this video: https://youtu.be/r5usX8JYxgg
The five daily prayers are: Fajr, Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Ishaa'. The time of the prayers vary depending on your location. Since it seems you're not in a Muslim country, you may install this app to help you know the time of the prayers:
Or you may just google "Azan timings".
