I'd say drop the taxes. You can't compete there, and even if you could you'd be spreading yourself too thin. Maybe you can talk to the simpletax people in a year and jointly create a 'data import', but not today.
On the budgeting/tracking, I'm curious as to what your elevator pitch will be as to why I should use your software instead of YNAB. Once you can answer that I think I (and you) will have a better idea of where you're going. (Or maybe other people here have great ideas for what that direction is).
Are you trying to help me track monthly spending? help me see where my savings are going and if I'm going to meet savings/retirement goals? Suggest products/services to reduce my fixed costs?
You have a lot of competition, and an unfortunately small user base that's 'interested'. There's already apps to track net worth, and software that will allow you to treat your personal finances like a business. Banks are even getting in on the fun and they have access to a lot more data to categories transactions than you can hope to.
I'm not saying there's not a niche market with a solvable problem. I just don't have a answer as to what that might be right at the moment. I'm willing to help with beta testing though (and if I find it interesting enough maybe even some dev).
I use this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.rmrf.projection But it's not automatic, you have to manually enter values.
