I use News+ for RSS feeds, but when I want to find something to read that I might not be subscribed to, I just use Google Play Newsstand . It's not fancy, but it looks nice and has various topics to scroll through.
Drippler when I am on the toilet and just want some general android news and "THIS APP WILL BLOW YOUR MIND" posts but most of the time I actually use News+ premium and read my dozens of RSS feeds I am subscribed to. I don't really game on my phone. If I want to game mobile I use my 3ds, Vita or PSP Go (love it the most since it's so small)
linkme: News+, Drippler
Edit: Bot linked the wrong app. Heres the link to News+
wow that's bad, I didn't catch that. This is the app I was trying to link to. I supposed it is a glorified RSS reader, but there are free plugins also (feedly, pocket). I like it for that reason, and for its great search function which is more like a huge list of topics you can subscribe to. Lastly the scrolling widget I use every day.
So something like the "grid view" in News+ would be good?

OK, so I'm probably going to be laughed at here, but... I take the dozen or so subreddits I browse often, and put them into News+ as an rss/atom feed of new posts. This way I get what I want, easily, and any subreddits I only browse on occasion, I just use chrome.

I use the app news+ for all my feeds. It has a search function and a huge list of available feeds on any topic you could imagine. There might be ideas in there
Reboot and see if that fixes it. I've used GReader for years and never had any problems like that.
You can also try their new rss reader News+.
News+ is a nice Google News client made by the same developer as gReader (one of the most popular RSS readers).
News360 is a more typical news aggregator with a magazine style UI.
Both have reader modes so that you don't have to open full webpages. Both have options to change country so that the news is more relevant to you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noinnion.android.newsplus >Here is a list of current services News+ supports: >- Google News - Feedly - The Old Reader - InoReader - Bazqux >- Tiny Tiny Rss - FeedBin - NewsBlur - SubReader - Reedah >- CommaReader - Pocket >Finally, we encourage the News+ community to create extension, and have them published to everyone!
InoReader is what I used for a long time but I've recently migrated back to Feedly.
InoReader's <strong>web</strong> version is better than Feedly's <strong>web</strong> in my opinion, but the app leaves a lot to be desired. I like the <strong>News+ Reader</strong>, and even bought the <strong>Premium version</strong>. I used the <strong>InoReader plugin</strong> with ews+ instead of using the <strong>official InoReader app</strong>.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noinnion.android.newsplus with feedly plugin, has scrolling widget
<strong>News+</strong> with <strong>InoReader plugin</strong> is what I use. I specifically paid for <strong>News+ Premium</strong> to support developer.
GReader Pro user here as well but just a FYI for new users, there is a new version under a new name News+.
I still stick by News+ with the Feedly plugin. Not flashy but definitely not ugly, quick, and easy to use.
I've got an installation of Tiny Tiny RSS on a web server, which could be installed on an Rpi. Then I use News+ on my phone, which has a ttrss plugin. There may be simpler setups, but that works for me, and I can add any feeds I want and specify the update and notification settings.
I guess it's this?
News+ has a scrollable widget
I tend to use News+ instead of the official app because of the performance issues.
