Please leave feedback or suggestions, I'm really satisfied with what I've done but I've run out of gas.
Edit: Also the yellow dot crosses from the left to right on the line to represent sunrise to sunset. There's a gray ball on the bottom line for moonrise and moonset.

Notification Station for KLWP is pretty amazing I think. It cleans up your status bar and puts notifications on your desktop, which is really convenient and prevents swiping down for your notifications.

If you have KLWP Pro, there is Notification Station, and you can tweak it as much as you'd like if you're familiar with KLWP (I recommend getting into KLWP as it really extends your home screen possibilities).
There's also this version for KWGT, which is actually a widget contrary to KLWP which is technically a live wallpaper.

I see, i can imagine trying to replace all the apps would be difficult.
Not trying to push my own stuff here but maybe you'd like my theme:

It basically puts your notifications on your homescreen with 5 variations. Its meant to be used with one or two rows of apps below it. I didn't add any custom apps to it because of the reason you just said.
I feel like it's missing something in the middle, try using Notification Station for KLWP or Notification Station for KWGT if you want a widget. You can easily modify them as you see fit. Then try hiding the status bar or removing the time as you don't really need time on the status bar if you're going to have a widget for it on the home screen.
This free theme has what you're looking for, and I'm a little too tired to explain it so try your hand at dissecting it. Everything relevant is in an overlap (or maybe it's stack, idk) group called notification station.

I've been playing around with different variations of the Notification Station theme that I made. Here I went for a more material look with sharper edges and space between the notifications.
You can download the current version of the theme on Google Play, here
If there is support, I could look into finalizing this version and including it in the package.
