The NPR One phone app is wonderful. It lets you tailor your segments to content that you have interest in, and lets you skip segments you aren't interested in.

One option that isn't a part of the assistant is to listen to NPR One, too. That always starts out with the hourly news summary, then moves into other stories. You can even subscribe to NPR podasts and other public radio shows, which will automatically get played when new ones appear.
I like it for an automatic option while I shower and get read in the morning, because I can send it to the bathroom Chromecast or to the bathroom and kitchen ones.
Apparently it's in the NPR One app for your phone. This page says:
> Just pop in your ear buds, tap your phone and NPR One starts flowing. And NPR One gets to know you. Skip what you don't want, or tap the lightbulb to say a story is interesting. We'll turn NPR One into your own personal radio station.
It's NPR One

It's not looking good for us. These owners now have the final say in the future of Pocket Casts.

I for one, am worried.
I do believe I did not complain about those 4 years, but appreciated the service I got. My statement was simply about avoiding future purchases due to today's acquisition. Perhaps you need to read more closely instead of typing without thinking.
Here's my crystal ball.

These people now own Pocket Casts. They may have the original dev team, but the owners have the final say.
It's not looking good for us users, and it doesn't take a psychic to see it.
Let's take a close look at the purchaser's podcast apps, shall we?

If these companies actually knew what they were doing, they would each have a solid product offering. How difficult can it be to crack the 4.0 rating with a podcast app? What are the odds that all 4 of these well-known companies would have crappy apps? This is not a coincidence.
They bought Pocket Casts so they can replace their failing apps, but they obviously neglected, bloated, monetized, and destroyed their own apps in the first place, so why would we think that anything better can come from the new owners of Pocket Casts?
