Hey /r/Android
Today i finally gave way to publish a utility i had made for myself 3 months ago which has been really helping me achieve that android power user routine of mine. The app in itself does no miracles , it is just a homescreen widget which displays your selected choice of apps during four customizable intervals of the day.
But the motivation behind the app is to 'surface' your own content, your own installed apps more than anything . Take my use case for that matter - I need to check twitter , maps and reddit especially in the morning . These become my primary apps of interaction. So i simply select morning and add these three apps to the list. There i have it , a morning with no app distraction .
Similarly , my music streaming services are only a necessity during the night , so i go about selecting night and making my music streaming app as one of the selected apps.
It is a minimal albeit functional Homescreen widget that can
enforce app routines
surface more forced engagements with those apps you installed but never used
More than that , it got featured on Product Hunt today - https://www.producthunt.com/tech/ontime
Go ahead and give it a try and remove the clutter from your homescreen today - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=iamsupratim.com.ontime&hl=en

<strong>On Time - Dynamic Apps Widget with Tasker support</strong>
Hope you are having an amazing christmas . I sure am , because of the love On Time is receiving from /r/Android
Regarding the app, I would like to tell you that i took the most demanded features for the app and worked on it for the last week
The big changes are * Tasker support * UI overhaul
So now essentially you can do all sorts of magic like 1. Display your media apps when you reach home
Show your mail and productivity tools when you reach office
Have a different app routine for weekends
Its all possible via Tasker and On Time Automation Collections
For those hungry for the new screenshots - <strong>here is the album</strong>
It is amazing to read how people are implementing their smart app routines with On Time V2
PS - there is a small tutorial too in the beginning now for those who arent aware about widgets and this app in general
Cardboard - (App along with the hardware ) that piece of cheap tech has so much untapped potential
Twitter official client - works good for me. The new curated content with highlight and moments is a great feature indeed
Medium - Fantastic content consumption platform . Makes reading and writing fun again
Plaid by Nick butcher - goes on to show design and usability can work in tandem
Ontime (self plug) - I don't even open the app drawer any more. This utility I made for myself just shows me the apps I need at the specified time of the day. Morning it's news and weather, and night for Twitter and reddit lurking
Link me : Cardboard, Twitter, Medium, Plaid
You can use a widget that can list particular apps on homescreen based on time. How about on time.. though development has been discontinued
You can get a keyboard for taking notes. I used a tablet last year for my textbooks computer sciences and math, was pretty good. However notes were annoying. I had emergency coding apps but honestly, I'd rather go to the computer lab and work on theirs or remote into my home computer and type stuff up. Android / iOS does not have a great amount of coding IDEs.
I used Anki for flashcards for languages. You can use Onenote / Evernote for notes but writing was easier. I did however use it to keep up with the slides and note the PDFs and my notebook to remind me to print little sections of code.
I ordered a ASUS ZENPAD Z170C-A1-BK 7" to replace my old 10 inch one as my sister took it. I would suggest aiming for 150-250$ range if you can afford it. I inherited an old 40$ NOBIS tablet and I wanted to throw it out a window. It's now living as a picture frame on my desk.
Honestly, a laptop is far better. But it's much heavier. I have a 17' laptop so fuck it I got a tablet. I would definitely look into hiding YouTube and Netflix. You can use Widgets to either time when you see app links or set Tasker context cues ie if on school Wifi. Or hide apps in a custom lancher so you have to type the app name into search. Or just use willpower.
Are you talking about On Time?
This app has been abandoned and unlisted from Play Store. You could still find it in your library if you have installed it earlier.
I believe there's an app called On Time that makes widgets based on time. Don't know if you can also set it to location, but that might be able to be done with Tasker or you may be able to ask the Dev to consider it as they seem to answer things quickly.
But if your schedule is fairly stable this might be a good answer.
Check out the app on time. It's a widget that has user defined apps in certain categories which get displayed based on the time of day. And it supports tasker so if you have that you can probably use location triggers.

Also, for reminders on the lockscreen you can check out next lock screen from Microsoft. It shows upcoming calendar appointments.

> replace my launcher with custom made scenes just for the challenge
Please make a post if you manage to make this work.
I have a "work" and "regular" profile set up in Tasker and wanted to change the icons on my home screen. ATM I'm switching launchers with Tasker to achieve this but it's not exactly an efficient process. Zooper Widget should make this possible. I think Kustom Live Wallpaper could be used to do the same time but then I'd have to setup my automatic wallpaper switcher in KLWP.
There's also the app "On Time" that could be used for that but the lack of customization makes it frustrating.
Finally, and I know I'm probably rambling beyond what you were talking about, but Lighting Launcher could also be used for that purpose. I bought the app a year ago but it's so not user friendly that I've never done anything significant with it.
Something other people haven't mentioned is using the following Dynamic Smart Widget in collaboration with Nova:
On Time is a widget for your launcher that allows you to only display apps you need at any particular time slot of the day and auto categorize your apps into Smart Folders.
It also works as Tasker plugin to create your own conditions for your chosen apps on the custom widget

In fact there is a way! A very easy one in fact. There's an app named <strong>On Time</strong> that also has Tasker integration built-in.
Basically you create custom "collections" of shortcuts groups in the "On Time" app itself. Then you place its Tasker widget on your homescreen.
And then in any Tasker Task (triggered by anything you want) - you select which collection to display in that homescreen widget.
There's a ton of options for how the widget finally displays as well, including showing the name of the collection, etc. When you place the widget it will say 1x1 but you can make it any size you want, as the widget scrolls. So if you've 6 shortcuts in a collection but only have a 1x2 space available on your homescreen - you just scroll within the three rows of the widget.
On Time has automatic folders
Recently my hobby project OnTime dynamic app widget got featured on xda as one of the top 5 widgets for android.
I just love how people appreciate automation and how ontime has made my app usability increase over time.
I don't have any apps like literally any app on my phone that I don't happen to use.
Mornings is all news content consumption. Afternoon is for quora and medium. Evenings is food delivery and games (while riding back home) . Night time is social and music apps.
Make app habits using OnTime. Apps appear based on time on your home screen in the decently configurable widget. Also tasker integration ftw
Or use a plugin to totally do away with app drawers and let a widget auto change to selected apps for different times of the day , different locations ,etc
