You can do that from test menu. I don't know what's the secret code for your particular device. But I found this video that shows test menu in Samsung tab 4.
If you can't find any method to access that test menu. You can try app from playstore. Most of them have ads. You can try phone doctor plus. It doesn't have ads. But, uninstall after using it. (Because you won't need it everyday and for testing purposes it needs more permissions. So don't keep it installed after your job is done.)
For CPU, GPU you can run benchmarks. But I don't think there will be anything wrong with CPU and GPU.
If you bought a used device. I will suggest you to reset it. (Before resetting make sure that device is not logged in with gmail ID of old user. And If you used your gmail ID/IDs make sure you know passwords. Or you can remove all gmail IDs before resetting the tablet.) Resetting will wipe existing data from the device.
I used to use Phone Doctor Plus for older phones in the past. Not sure what the app is like nowadays, but probably still fine to try out.
I also encountered this issue before on my Asus Zenfone 5. But when using loudspeaker or voice recorder the mic is functioning.
It seem that most phones are using two different microphone for different task.
You can download Phone Doctor Plus (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.PhoneDoctorPlus) to test if the mic is functioning.
You can also try the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.PhoneDoctorPlus
Just to check everything is working
I wish there was a battery cycle counter on Android like on macbooks
If you get to use it before you have to buy it, download PhoneDoctor Run through all the tests and you should be good, other than checking your sim card.
Here's an app I use for testing used phones when I buy them.
As long as your bootloader is unlocked, which can be checked in developer options, your RUU program should still work.
You'd be surprised. I'd check anyway, it would suck to have bought it and have the owner report it stolen, so you couldn't use it. Better safe than sorry.
That sounds like quite the issue. I had a similar issue when I had my Moto X. When I had the capability to use the screen in short bursts, I would clear all apps out of memory to work as a fix until it did the BSOD later on. I would say leave it off for the entirety of a night and try again in the morning. Also check out one of these apps to see if there could be an underlying hardware issue now.
I use this app for testing used phones. It hits all the points you need.
