Alright. Was going to suggest CSC, but you already have done that.
You could use an app like Phono (they have not updated the logo yet, so it will show the old WIND logo).
A simple option if you're using Android is download an app called Phono. It's great because whenever you're on Freedom's home network, you'll see Freedom's logo and then when you're on an away network, you'll see the logo of the away network partner that you're roaming on (example: if the away network partner that you happen to be connected to at the moment is Rogers, you'll see the Rogers logo). I have the app on my Galaxy S7 and it's great. It takes the guess work out of finding out which away network I'm on if I'm in an away zone.
You had a Moto I assume, it was a feature Motorola included, you could use an app like Phono https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infonetservice.phono&hl=en_GB - except that, the only other way would be to use LineageOS or another custom rom, none of which really exist yet for the Swift 2/X/Plus
I use FiSwitch to tell me, but you can do it with Phono as well.

I have fund these two apps to be helpful with seeing which network you are on and enabling you to easily switch between them:

Phono is a little more polished looking than FiSpy IMO. I like that it simply shows carrier logos in the notification bar, as that is all I want to see/do with it.
To see your carrier/bands, download these apps as documented in Project FI Support Forum:

There are 3rd party apps that tell you. I use Phono
