I'm running an up to date swift and don't have an account app, is this this app? I assume it can only have been added to the more recent handsets given it doesn't seem to be compatible with the swift?
It isn't available on the store, but I use the Google Phone app available as an apk. Version 9 is available as of the 25th April from this link.
It is pretty no nonsense, but I've found the call history takes an age to populate (version 8 and 9), so I'm looking to replace too.
I tried zero dialer in the app store, but didn't like the favourites view.
Yeah, you can't. This was why the very first thing I did was go with other suggestions in this sub of replacing FoxHole (your new launcher) with Nova. It has the added advantage of getting rid of Zen, the "news" feed thingy.
Yes, the latest one doesn't work, so I am using a slightly older one:
Some useful tweaks and workarounds:
The led light is now used only for notifications and only when screen is off. If you want it as battery charging indicator you can download this app from the play store ( or another app if you find a better one) : Light flow https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlegacy
If you want to add shortcuts to the lock screen or if you want to modify the nav bar, you can do this via the hidden system ui tuner. You can access it via this app: Ui tuner launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bryancandi.android.uituner
I didn't like the stock camera app. Footej and Open Camera are way better. Google Camera ports work but they are buggy as hell.
The camera is what it is, but you could experiment a bit with an app like Open Camera.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
After the upgrade - yes, it was far, far worse.
Just now - not quite so bad but still not close to the charge duration pre-Nougat (gut feeling, not certain).
Some things to try:
Settings > Display > Adaptive Display = ON
Settings > Display > Night Light = OFF
Settings > Display > Ambient Display = OFF
Settings > Battery > Look for zombie processes (5 digit name, black robot icon)
Reboot into recovery & wipe the cache
Install Greenify and run it after a boot or power cycle, take a look to see what all is starting up. Play with those apps in case one hasn't been updated recently and is draining your charge.
Fully power off your Swift, wait a few minutes and power it back on if you haven't done so since your update.
I did all of these and it's slightly better off but still not ideal. YMMV of course. I'm going to try LineageOS next weekend and run that for a week for the sake of comparison.
For me, using the Play Store and either searching for apps or installing them has a noticeable drain on my charge. Browsing the web in Chrome does not have the same impact. Installing or removing an app I can pretty much be guaranteed to lose at least 2% battery charge.
Last night I charged it to full and then used it intermittently for 11 minutes with a combination of Chrome, Play Store, Contacts, Calendar, Settings and App Drawer usage. Brightness was set at 50%. No media playback or calls/messaging and I managed to lose 14% charge. Feels like that is faster than before but I didn't time it before the update so I've gimped myself in that respect.
Hope this wall of text helps in some way.
TL:DR: I think so.
The shutter sound seems to be in the OS not the app.
I normally use Camera FV-5 rather than the default app and it's started doing it too now I'm on Nougat and when you toggle the sounds in there a popup appears from the developer warning you that although this disables the app's sounds you may still get sound from Android. And you do :-(
I installed Action 3 launcher & Zen is now gone... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.actionlauncher.playstore&hl=en_GB / http://www.androidcentral.com/why-action-launcher-only-launcher-i-use
The big difference (for me) is the fingerprint scanner. In gsi ROMs it is not working with 3rd party apps like banking apps. The battery life is slightly better on this ROM also.
Lineage can do the OTA system update, but I don't think the ROM dev will provide updates it via OTA. He is posting the updates on XDA and 4PDA.
As for the home screen: If you have magisk you can easily get Pixel launcher with the action services and the overview or Pie recents of Pixel launcher on any ROM. All you have to do is:
1- Download the pixel launcher + action services module and flash it through Magisk. Do not make Pixel launcher your home launcher yet. (Link to thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-unmodified-pixel-3-launcher-t3852857 )
2- download and flash Quickswitch module through Magisk. Through this module you can choose which Pie launcher you want to be the overview provider. ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-quickswitch-universal-quickstep-t3884797 )
3- Go to the Quickswitch app and choose Pixel launcher to be your overview provider. Restart the phone and choose PL as your home screen and you are good to go.
You have a plenty of choices to choose from. I had the Oneplus Launcher installed and it was kinda cool. You also get the gestures that comes with the launcher when doing that.
Sorry for my long answer. I just like explaining things in details.
Eh, it's not too bad. Just a different mail client (Gmail is still included), a search app and a browser from Yandex. It can all be uninstalled, and it won't send any of your data to Russian hackers, I just don't like having both Google's and Yandex's apps on the phone for the same purpose.
First you need to install TWRP recovery. Instructions here: https://twrp.me/devices/wileyfoxswift2.html
With TWRP you can flash SuperSU and you're rooted.
After that you won't be able to install OTA updates but will have to wait for full ROMs to be released (which is usually not too long after the OTA update). It might be worth trying Flashfire from the Play store. Supposingly it can also flash OTA updates (never tried) and automatically re-root after flashing the update.
I'm trying Lawnchair. It's open source and free - no nags to pay to upgrade for extra features.
Apparently it looks like Pixel launcher, but I can't confirm to what level as I haven't used a Pixel.
Comes with no feed - that requires sideload of an APK. I'm trying to wean myself off Google, so I'm fine with that.
Hope you managed to find a way to sort this - there is a way of doing this via the quick tiles if you find the right app.

FYI the PWR and VOL DOWN is the standard Android way of taking screenshots, but granted the buttons are close together on these devices.

Thanks for the warning. Worth having https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore And / or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync installed and running before the upgrade then!
Used to depend on Snap Camera HDR as it offered a basic set of stable features without any filters-faff. It seems to have been discontinued since the middle of last year.
At the moment, I'm looking at the fresh, new Footej Camera which appears to be a well-rated spiritual successor that's regularly updated.
Let us know how you get along!
You had a Moto I assume, it was a feature Motorola included, you could use an app like Phono https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infonetservice.phono&hl=en_GB - except that, the only other way would be to use LineageOS or another custom rom, none of which really exist yet for the Swift 2/X/Plus
Try installing Open Camera? I had it installed before I updated to Nougat on a Swift at the weekend. It's still working fine throughout.
I'll check the default camera app tho'.
EDIT: default is opening and taking photos for me. Maybe try another app, set it default then set the original back as default if it then opens correctly? IMHO Open Camera beats the default but just an opinion.
I used an xposed module when on kitkat, unfortunately it needs root and it doesn't currently support Nougat
Have you tried https://photos.google.com? I guess I must've asked my phone to use Google Photos at some point but all my photos appear there without me doing anything
I have cracked the screen on my Swift 2X too, no replacements so I've just bought a new phone (non-Wileyfox). I've no real use for my phone, except that I was going to use it as a Ring doorbell chime - if you reckon you could cannibalise it, maybe it has a better use.
Pretty sure that this is the version of Google Phone I have... No issues at all and Truecaller since safely disabled..... https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-7-0-140861421-nonnexus-release/google-phone-7-0-140861421-nonnexus-android-apk-download/
Then it's worth also doing this........ https://support.truecaller.com/hc/en-us/articles/212063089-How-do-I-unlist-my-phone-number-
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/CA/wileyfox-swift-2-plus
Only one 4G band and no 3G bands in Canada supported, so you might get data in some locations, but not in most. You should be able to use 2G for calls and SMS.
I have the original Swift as well and at some point I also ended up having troubles copying images from it. I've been using Syncthing for the last couple of years to synchronize the photos and other stuff with my computer.
Also, right now on Amazon the Honor 9 Lite is available for £129 in the UK. It has NFC.
I know it's 2 months old, but hope this helps...
The Google Camera is only installable from the Play Store on Pixels, so instead of using that (which may have issues if you find an apk), rather than that I'd suggest using the Open Camera, it's basically the simplest of the cameras from the Google source code... BUT it doesn't have things like the Pixel's blur, but it does everything that the basic Google Camera does, and works well on my Swift 2
I know it's a month ago, but what happens when you try a screen shot? (power button and volume down held at the same time for 1+ seconds)
If it's not taking photos, I'd suggest trying a different camera app, Open Camera is very simple and shows basic options
Try with that one, it should show you if there's a problem
I've tried the app on my Swift 2 and it works well, so hopefully it'll help you find your issue
Quick update should anyone find this query via google and are wondering. There is a great little app I just found called, "Selfie Flash" written by Reactiv studio. It gives you a pseudo selfie flash by turning part of the screen 'white' throwing enough light for a selfie! Great app, and easy to use...

For Wifi I used Wifi Automatic on the WF Swift 2+ and also now on my Nokia 6.1. Works fine and it's free. Give it a try ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wifiAutoOff
(But had not tested deep sleep with this app)
Holy crap, this sounds like the exact same problem I encountered with a 2nd gen Moto G running Android 6.0. The solution was weird but worked, might as well give it a go...
This worked on the Moto G2, so it might work on the Wileyfoxes - it's worth a chance! Instructions are assuming you're running Oreo.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync is an awesome app people should have installed anyway :) But yeah, agree.
>> How do I turn off the camera shutter sound?
Try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.juholic.nss
It works for me!
It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click!
Here is link number 1 - Previous text "Yes"

Can you link yours? I've tried mine with Briztech VR and the Standard Google Cardboard 2.0
my nexus 5x stopped focusing the camera so the Swift2x in better in that respect, I tend to use the "a better camera" app and it seems to help with any shortcomings. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.almalence.opencam&hl=en_GB My nexus 5X went into a can't boot, won't boot mode also.
Try free version of Twilight from the play store for more tweaks for screen temperature.
Rotation lock is available in quick settings toolbar. You can edit this to add or move tiles - click the pencil in the full quick settings menu. The top six tiles in the menu are available in the first swipe of the notification bar.
There is still an EQ built into the OS, but it's proved hard to access. So far I've only been able to access it via the settings of Spotify and via Phonograph.
I've done some reading on Android N and it seems pretty good. I can just install TruCaller, which is now a neccessity, but my only concern is no Privacy Guard but I found this new app. It's very new but looks to have potential.
Yeah i just got a replacement and the issue is still prevalent.
The red line is from and app that hides the soft keys.
I'm kinda debating sending both phones back.
works in the horizon camera app. But maybe that's the accelerometer? is there a difference in this sense?
edit: also the spec sheet does mention '3D G-Sensor'. I thought that was the gyro?
You might like to take a look at Camera FV-5 Lite too ... I've used the paid for version of that on a lot of phones over the years.
