ProtonMail is one of the more popular encrypted, privacy respecting email services. They have a free tier which I'm trying. If I commit will be moving to their premium subscription. It's very affordable, many additional useful features, and supporting a good cause.
What I like-
Easy to setup and use.
They don't require a phone number or backup email to register.
Excellent customer support. Respond timely for a smallish team.
Opensource
Can easily send encrypted emails to non Protonmail users. It's a link and they have to enter a password to see email.
Emails to other Protonmail users are encrypted.
Have login password, two step authentication, and inbox encryption password. If login and two step is compromised still no access to your inbox
They have a dedicated subreddit /r/ProtonMail/ and are active on it.
What I don't like-
No IMAP support. It's in the works for premium subscriptions.
No calendar integration. Again they say it's in the works with notes app too.
App is a barebones but functional.
No. Gmail App is just a eMail client. But hey i'm sure Google and Yahoo share data with each other anyway. Also why do you still have Yahoo mail?
If you don't really need Yahoo i recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.protonmail.android
As stated before, to use protonmail you will need the protonmail app from the Google Playstore:

We can't give an ETA for the 4.0 Android app refresh yet, but we're currently working on it.
To use the ProtonMail beta on your Android device, you need to go to the ProtonMail app in Google Play. Scroll to the developer contact on the page and tap the “Join Now” button under the “Become a beta tester” section.
Yes! To use the ProtonMail beta on your Android device, go to the ProtonMail app in Google Play. Scroll down to the section called “Become a beta tester” and tap on “Join now”.
What is the difference between this new one and the one in the app store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.protonmail.android&hl=en
There is no mobile beta for V4 yet.
However you can join the current beta, to use the ProtonMail beta on your Android device, go to the ProtonMail app in Google Play . Scroll down to the section called “Become a beta tester” and tap on “Join now”.
v.1.12.3 (686). I also tried an older version that always worked.
A few months back I had another problem (new version crashed all the time) which was solved by securing my phone with PIN code.
As you can see protonmail for android requires Android 4.3 (my version) and higher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.protonmail.android&hl=nl
Protonmail is a free, open source email app that has end-to-end encryption that protects your privacy.
Free encrypted email provider? YES PLEASE. That is all.
First you would need to get F-Droid, an alternative to Google Store that has only open-source free programs.

If there is a program you want that is not on F-Droid, but is on Google Playstore, and you don't want to have Google Playstore installed, you can install the Aurora Store package. It lets you download and install apps that are on Google Playstore.
For e-mail, if you want to keep using your Google account, you can download K-9 mail and connect your google account to it, although it has a bit tricky procedure to do it.
If you don't mind changing e-mail provider, you can download Protonmail, which also has a web client, and which has your e-mails encrypted on server so no-one can read them. Another option is Criptext, but all your emails are stored on your devices, so if you lose your devices you lose all your e-mails.
For maps, you can use OsmAnd, which uses data from OpenStreetMaps. It lacks convenience compared to Google Maps, so be prepared to spend some time to get used to it.
For messaging, you can use Signal, which is quite popular, and Keybase. Both of these encrypt the messages so they can't be intercepted, and try to hide who you talk with. Whoever you want to talk with will also have to install these though, so it's up to you to persuade them.

For a private browser you can install Firefox Klar. Simple Firefox should be good too for most of your needs.

For note-taking, I personally use Standard Notes. Your notes are encrypted and cannot be read by anyone.
Lastly, if you want to completely get rid of Google from your phone, because Google Services come pre-installed with all Android phones and they keep collecting and sending Data, you may want to look into installing a custom ROM at some point, although you should avoid it if you don't have technical knowledge in order not to ruin your phone. All the above programs I linked work on phones without Google Services.
> I'm not even sure Proton has one, but if they do, it's not better than Tutanota's
I'm glad you're happy with the service and the app. For people like me who are hoping to learn from your experience, your message loses effectiveness when you make a definitive claim about something you haven't tried or researched.
ProtonMail does have a good Android app. It has 4.7 rating from 7,700 users on Google play for what it's worth. I've looked at both it and of the Tutanota Android app (4.4 rating from 1,500 users) and the two seem pretty close feature-wise. They also both have apps on iOS where ProtonMail also has higher ratings from more users than does Tutanota
android is an open source os so you can easily to get apk file directly from Play store. How?
I just visit this site http://choilieng.com, copy app url (from Google Play Store) and paste to search box, click Summit.
you can get almost all apps/games (some apps/games i can't download, maybe it's due to region policy or something like that but what i like that i can get all versions of apps/games)
Copy url of Protonmail (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.protonmail.android) to search box and i get this apk: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/ch.protonmail.android.apk (with various version that app developers uploaded on google Play store)

Careful there.
From their Play description:
“ProtonMail offers encrypted email, which makes it virtually impossible for anyone to read it except the sender and the recipient.” Wall Street Journal
Since we were founded by CERN scientists in 2013, we have been joined by citizens from around the globe
“ProtonMail is a gmail-like email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes
“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT and CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post
Hyped by Forbes, WSJ and HuffPost. Developed by MIT and CERN. Plus some weird imagery of global citizenship in their own description. It's enough to make this look suspiciously like an Establishment faux alternative to me. Your results may vary.
