The issue isn't with Nova supporting the gestures but Google supporting third party launchers. From what I've read it seems Google focused on getting gestures working with the Pixel Launcher. Google is working on the gestures supporting third party launchers and has said there will eventually be an update released.

That being said, I'm a big fan of the gestures and was perfectly fine with the way they were working in beta 4. Breaking gestures for third party launchers in beta 5 was extremely frustrating. I made my own gestures setup using two apps instead of fighting with the settings or settling with pixel launcher. I use the following to mimic Android 10 gestures for the time being:

First i use Nova launcher. You don't have to, but it helps you make it look more "clean". You're able to disable the notification bar and bottom buttons so you're literally left with nothing but the wallpaper.

For the wallpapers i like to use amoled wallpapers but you can use anything that has room for widgets. The wallpaper is used here is from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Hastamev.AmoledWallsFree

For the widgets, i use KWGT. They offer a free version and you download designers with more widgets. But i use the paid version. The widget I'm using here is by Wolfie #143 it takes time to figure out how to change colors, fonts, add things and remove things etc but it gets easy.

Google Wallpapers has some great landscapes and you can have it change every day automatically for you if you'd like. My favorite was the of the Earth and it rotated as the hours went by in the day, also showing your geolocation on the globe. This isn't my image but like this

To add to this, the default icon are fucking horrible. They want circle icons and the solution is to take the existing icons and just put them in a white circle? It looks ugly a sin.

I use the moonshine icon pack, but if I wanted all circle icons, I'd take something like Click UI over this.

It looks like you need a 3rd party app to have a search widget. Firefox used to have one, but they removed it in v58.

Here's the one I am using now.

Install it. Then enable the Dock search bar in Nova, press & hold it, select Replace, choose the SearchBar Ex widget. I'm sure you'll handle adding DuckDuckGo after that, check SearchBar Ex's settings. Enjoy your non-Google search from the Dock. :)

For the icon pack you can use Retrorika and for the launcher either you can try xOS Launcher or can give the Nova a little bit of look like that of iOS (but you have to do it on your own or can search it).

Well, that is possible, but not with the tools I have posted (as far as I know). The way I have it setup now is that I have configured an applet in IFTTT to change the wallpaper to the dark one when the sun sets and back to the light one when the sun rises. I'm sure it's probably possible to configure more advanced behavior with something like Tasker, but I've not played with that yet.

That GMD immersive app is pretty bad.

People use Kustom Widgets for custom widgets. It's a bit complicated but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. (They also have a subreddit if you want to check that out, r/kustom )

There's also icon packs that change the looks of your icons. Whicons is a good one if you're looking for a minimalistic look. But there are lots of icon packs that you can choose if you want something else.

I have never been able to get Nova over 6% battery usage and that was because I was extensively customizing the launcher. I think it is Accubattery that may be the problem here. Not saying that Accubattery is causing the rise in power but if I were you I'd check what kind of benchmarking is Accubattery is using...is it an actual usage or a predicted one? Is it an accumulated usage? Accumulated over how much time etc. Usually, I avoid using third-party tools to tweak my phone's battery state on day to day usage. Most apps are bloated and some may even impair your battery. I recently discovered Samsung Goodlock through the Nice Lock app, there's a battery module that gives quite accurate usage statistics. Or I'd go with a benchmarking app like Antutu or 3D Mark

Try a factory reset...sometimes the phone pick up some dirt along usage, sometimes it is our own tinkering...

Edit: As for the accessibility screen lock... To see something you have to add the gesture tap to lock screen to actually see the accessibility function...I think

I suspect it may have been removed due to this, in which case you should not download it from a third party source. The icon pack I was using was on that list as well, so I uninstalled it. I ended up using the Pixelicious icon pack, which is pretty similar to the one you are using.

Search on the store. Not only for seniors but for disabled people too. Most of them allows a user to set everything up and then blockit so the actual user can't mess with the layout unintentionally.

It all depends on what style you are looking for. For icon packs I personally recommend Delta icon pack. They have 1400 handcrafted icons with a smooth minimalistic style that I find amazing. Plus it's free for beta testing!

Are you using sesame? If yes you can enable Play Store from Sesame > preferences > apps in quick search.

Screen Tapping the play store icon takes you in play store search with "app name" as a the query string.

You could use something like Minimalistic Text, and set it up yourself. It's can be a bit complicated to set up, but it's very flexible.

It's likely caused by your stock lock screen. I know on Samsung devices you have to go into phone's settings to change the lockscreen wallpaper, but you have to download an image to your gallery. If you set the lockscreen wallpaper and then change your Nova wallpaper, you should get what you're looking for. If that's a hassle to you(which it is to me), you should try AcDisplay. You can just set the wallpaper you want in Nova and it'll transfer over.

if you are starting from scratch, I prefer the lawnchair launcher it has enough customization options and it is completely free, no in-app purchases and shit, and for widgets, KWGT has few free widget packs too like the Huk for KWGT which has 200 widgets to choose from.
