I'm using Today Weather. It gets the job done. You can also change between a couple of data sources (including dark sky and AccuWeather) in the app if the data isn't accurate to your location.
Today Weather is also an awesome app. Has multiple choices to choose from as far as weather data and widgets. Was a big fan of weather timeline until I found.. today weather.

Edit: I should mention though that I have paid for both weather timeline as well as today weather and you can't go wrong with either one, since they are both great apps.

I'm using Today Weather. Very customisable. And it offers all kinds of weather alerts, but you'll have to use the paid version for that.
Have you tried today weather? It lets you chose between different weather providers and what information you want to see (which means you can turn off stuff you're not interested in). It has a minimalist design, albeit a bit iOS-ey.
There are in app purchases to remove ads(?, I'm not sure if there were ads in the free version) and for additional icon packs though. It is on discounts occasionally.
I've been using Today Weather since the Dark Sky announcement. Paid for premium and honestly it's been pretty nice. Nobody's come close to Dark Sky imo but this has definitely made the loss more bearable.

Thoughts on Today Weather? I recently switched to it and like it. It's a bit more expensive but it has a whole bunch of APIs to choose from.
I use Today Weather. They let you pick your weather source. And it's a very clean app with dark mode and built in radar.
The default install shows a dumb large picture that takes up half the screen which i disable in the settings so it's a bit cleaner.

Today Weather has some of the best weather widgets I've seen. I think only a few of them have backgrounds, and there are a lot of options. The app also looks cool. It's the best one I've found.

I loved the widgets and precipitation forecasts on Dark Sky. Found them to be very accurate in my area. Today Weather has the type of widgets I'm looking for AND Dark Sky is an available source. Sticking with the NWS source for now, but if a few months go by and I'm still digging it I'll buy it for sure.
It is one of the most beautiful weather app I've ever used, along with beautiful widgets. I pay for all weather apps including annual memberships, after using most of them for a year. Today Weather is the one I stuck with (some features do crash the app like radar and wind maps from specific sources.)
I also don't see anything wrong with the weather app that's built into the phone. The only reason why I have to stop using it, it's because it doesn't give me weather forecast past 5-7 days within the app, unless I click on it and it takes me to the browser.
I like today weather. Has a lot of information when you open the app. And I use a 1x1 widget that shows temp, high/ low, feels like temp and a weather icon.

Dark Sky was the best but they sold out to Apple and became exclusive. Nowadays i use Today Weather. It has like 10 api's to use and the look is really nice.

If you're in the US, I would use Forecast Advisor to see which provider has the most accurate forecasts in your area, and then prioritize weather apps that work with that provider. Personally I ended up using Today Weather and I recommend it.
I just downloaded Today Weather, I'm surprised I hadn't tried it previously - I like it!
My must is Dew Point's (I don't care about humidity), would love to have Pressure too (I get migraines); I like with TW that it has a bunch of widgets to choose from, as well as a precipitation notification!

I haven't felt the need to use anything but the Google Now/Pixel launcher since Nexus 5X, but I'm still on the OG buttons interface too.
While it's sad what's happening with Weather Timeline, there's some discount on Today Weather - when I've bought few minutes ago premium lifetime option it was ~17zł, then there was information about some discount to ~9zł and then there was a surprise from Google that cut this to ~6zł (sorry for currency - I'm from Poland, but you can see the difference just in those numbers)...
So yeah, if you're looking for an alternative, I think it's worth checking out though it's missing Weather Underground as a data source which worked best for me in Weather Timeline.
I have used in the past, the NOAA Weather Unofficial app that you're asking about, but it seemed to have problems quite frequently. I now use the Today Weather app. Like the Sunrise app, that I believe you said you were currently using, the Today Weather app has a lot of weather providers to choose from, including the National Weather Service and it also has a dark mode, which is important for me. There is a free version and a paid version. I'm sure most people are fine with the free version. Thought you might want to check it out if you haven't already. Even though the Today Weather app has a radar, I also use Myradar , which is also a very good app.

Today Weather has an hourly widget (shows 6 hours) that can be set to a location of your choosing. You can use different ones with different locations. It's free with ads which aren't that intrusive, so you might give it a go. It's one of my favorite weather apps and fits your use case.
I would recommend you using Today Weather. Very sleek and has beautiful animations. Can also select Dark Sky as your data source. It has ads, but if you subscribe its only 3.19 €/Year the ads will be removed.
This is the only thing that's scratched my Dark Sky itch. Not perfect but still let's me use the Dark Sky api for now.

I use Today Weather both in the notifications as well as one of the transparent clock/weather widgets to replace Niagara's clock/date/weather.
Got Premium for it too because it's my favorite weather app currently and it has a wide variety of weather data providers to choose from.
Shame about Dark Sky, it's dead to me now and I can't stand seeing Niagara's built-in weather icon anymore.

I think I was having this issue as well at some point, and started using Today Weather instead, since it appeared as though it was just a bug for The Weather Channel.

Does anyone have any experience with Today Weather? Seems to support a variety of sources, has a decent design, and premium looks to be reasonably priced with a lifetime option for $6.49. I installed it last night, so I haven't been able to get much of a sense of how well it works yet.

I use Today Weather since it has a pretty, minimalistic UI, nice widgets and lots of data (you can also change the source of the data. It's one of the best apps I've used and you can even opt for a one-time purchase of the pro version instead of a subscription.

I stumbled onto the perfect App, Today Weather. One of the widgets shows the date and temp. Click the date and your calendar opens, the weathe, and the App opens.

Yes, several options. To launch the weather app of your choice go to the TOUCH tab. Click on the action box. This will split the box onto Action and Mode. For the action, select Launch App. Fir Mode, select your favorite weather app.

To be honest, I'm not 100% satisfied with the widget, due to the wasted space at the bottom of the widget. I'd prefer the space to be between the date/time and the multi day weather forecast, but can't have it all, I guess.
But it's definitely the cleanest looking multiday widget I found, and the app itself is fabulous.
For my simple weather widget I use Today Weather. When I tap on it, it shows me a forecast. Very configurable. Hope this helps.

It's a subscription based weather app (£0.79) for 6 months for UK dwellers. It's really nice and sleek with all the info you need.
For the daily updates part:
You need an app that supports daily notifications. I do not have experience with every app on the market, of course, but Today Weather does that (and many other apps for sure)
Then you just need to set up a notification in Tools.
I also use this weather widget on my HOME screen, I use the one with the transparent background. When people see my phone, they always ask to take a closer look.

yes. get any weather app (i use Today Weather) with an on-going notification (the one that appears in the status bar). it will show up on AOD screen like any other notification.
AccuWeather is one of the data sources in Today Weather, which had some decent widgets and the interface looks great on AMOLED screens. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but figured you could check it out.

However, the current issue with it is that they have been removing the weather sources (where it pulls data from) one-by-one. The most accurate source that I personally trust is Weather Underground, and they have removed it from the data source options.
Recently, I have been looking and trying Overdrop - Animated Weather & Widgets (free version).
The UI is good, clean and everything, forecasts are okay. However, it lacks some of the features that Today Weather has.
If you want to access and use more of their very neat and slick widgets, you can buy the paid version (Overdrop Pro - Animated Weather & Widget) for a cheap price.
Personally, I am already thinking of uninstalling Today Weather if I see that Overdrop does the job that I need from a weather forecast app.

Has a wonderful widget. Single click and a world of weather info opens up. Battery drain is minimal.

It is a subscription service but totally worth it. TV Time is also a good app for TV Show/Netflix lovers to help you keep track of episodes of shows you've watched and when new episodes and seasons come out.
