>Hey /r/bicycling,

>My wife has been biking more and more with me lately, but hasn't seemed to adjust to the saddle the same way I seemed to. She's fine while riding, but anytime there's a sharp bump -- large crack in the pavement, uneven curb landing, etc. -- she either has to stand up on the pedals for a bit, or experiences a good bit of pain.
>
>She has bike shorts that she wears sometimes, and while they help with general discomfort on long rides, they seem to do nothing for the hard bumps we hit.
>
>I've been looking at 2 different solutions:

>* New Saddle. Currently eyeing a Brooks Cambium C17 Carved for her based on reviews.
>* Suspension Seatpost: Cane Creek Thudbuster Seatpost has great reviews for softening the sharp shocks transmitted to you.
>
>Other recommendations welcome! She is currently using the default seat and post that come with a specialized Vita. Both of these options are already a bit more expensive than I'd like, but I want something that works well and lasts. I definitely don't want to splurge and get both. . .

I use the Mi Band 2 ($20-30 USD) recommended from the Jawbone reddit. Jawbone will cut its consumer goods so don't buy them! I got a MoveUp for $7 for this reason!
Mi Band 2 has GPS, HR, notification, and syncs with Google Fit (I'm not sure of the iOS equivalent but they have and iOS version) If you want a visual map for your movement, checkout Google Fit (app or website), or a 3^rd party Notify & Fitness (by opening Workouts, enabling GPS tracing).
I don't need gps tracking, but want music control so I use the Pro version of Mi Band Master.

>Since we're so obsessive about weather forecasts(due to the nature of cycling) I thought it might be an idea to share which weather app each of us uses. > >I've just got a new one: Today weather on android. It's pretty decent. It has most of the features my old app(AccuWeather) had but more accessible. Hour by hour for couple of days(plus a nice widget which lets you see the next 6 hours), chance of rain over 24 hours, sunrise and sunset(for those winter months). Main drawback I can see compared to my old app(AccuWeather) is that it doesn't seem to show how heavy the rain will be.

>For a maths subject in my engineering degree we had to do an assignment on probability. I really enjoy sport, so i wanted to see if i could make an algorithm using people to determine the outcome of sporting events (initially to prove to my friends that i could). So the assignment is due on the 30th of July, so i really want to hopefully get it to work for some underdogs to prove to my professor that it actually works. > >How does it work? >The process is very simple, I give the scenario to the population, for example "Texas Rangers (C Hamels) At New York Yankees (C Sabathia)". Then people will vote on the H2H, determining whether the Rangers will win, both teams will draw, or the Yankees will win. Initially the results will not be precise due to a lack of people that will contribute, therefore the more people that use this, the more accurate it will become. After you have voted on the outcome, the algorithm will kick in (at the moment it is very basic). > >The Algorithm: >After the outcome of a game, if you voted correctly on the outcome, you 'vote' will no longer be worth 1 but instead 1.01 (increasing by 1%), likewise if you predict incorrectly your vote will only be worth 0.99. Therefore, the more people that participate in this experiment, and the effect of the algorithm in weighting each applicant, the more accurate we will become at predicting the outcome of sporting events. > >To make it really easy to access I got a friend to make it into a mobile app for android. So if you could please use it and tell your other sport interested friends to use it that would help me out significantly, and hopefully if it becomes accurate enough it will help you out as well! > >Download for mobile app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ionicframework.collective154704&hl=en
