Throughout the match, my heart rate was usually between 60 and 90bpm
I captured the heart rate using my Mi Band 2, using the Mi Band Tools app
Then, I manually inserted all the data into After Effects, wrote some expressions and made the graphics/sound
If you're wondering why I suddenly opened up the clock near the end of the video, it was to sync the data from the app with the video, based on time
I only have a ~5 minute recording of the last moments, but if you want me to post the full 5 minute clip, I'll do it
If you have any other questions, lemme know :D
edit:
Here's the full clip
Going to sleep now, you can still comment but I won't be responding for the next 6 hours
Mi Band Tools is probably the most popular (quick updates, responsive dev who's on this sub) - Well worth the money.
Mi Band Notify PRO is another option.
I had resisted upgrading as well due to the reports. However, about a month ago, I switched to the official app in the store and use Mi Band Tools to set up notificaitons and haven't had a problem with either the official app or the firmware.
Although this notification app is not free, its been way more stable and consistent than any of the others I've used, even the old modded app. It has a ton more options and the dev frequents this subreddit.
As mentioned by others, choose either one of these notification apps. Well worth the $1 as they unlock some great functionality.
Mi Band Tools - Google Play Store
OR
Both work great but you only need 1 of the 2 as they do similar things.
If you want some additional info on accessories and other things check out (www.xmiband.com)
The current version of the Mi Fit app doesn't record HR for historical purposes. If you need that feature consider Mi Band Tools: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
This app lets you measure and record HR at specified intervals, e.g. every hour. Keep in mind that setting short intervals may greatly decrease battery duration.
Some phones allow you to turn on Bluetooth while in airplane mode. You may want to experiment on your phone.
Alternatively newer releases of Android, 5 and 6, have a Do Not Disturb feature that lets you suppress some or all notifications at specified times, say from 11pm to 7am.
Mi Band 2 (fitness tracker) With Mi Band Tools it's great, custom notifications and vibrations, clicking on button can trigger Tasker tasks.
Gadgetbridge looks really sexy. Is there any optional cloud support (can I sync to Google Drive or Dropbox for example?) and does it support notifications on the Mi Band 2.
I'm using the "standard" combination of official app plus Mi Band Tool for notification awesomeness at the moment:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Update: I gave Gadgetbridge a shot, lots of potential but at least with the Mi Band 2 it is nowhere near ready for productive use. Play Store absence, i.e. no automatic updates without root, is also a big negative for me.
Mi Band Tools is currently being updated to support it, but that doesn't help you now... I don't know of any apps that support it yet.
You can also use Mi Band Tools, I switched to it recently because I wanted the ability to set different alerts for the same app based on filtering the text in the notification. Works well and was pretty cheap.
You can use the Tools & Mi Band App for Sleep as android integration. Link. Works fine for me and you can also customize the hell out of notifications.
Afaik Notify & Fitness also has SaA integration. Haven't used it though.
Can't say for sure, I guess it would be the same. But you can already do constant HR on the Band 2 with apps like Tools & Mi Band.
On the contrary, you can. One of the most widely used tool is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools Since OP needs reading notifications from the band (and integrating the button with Tasker), it is worth to upgrade from miband 1 to 2. The battery drain of the phone is negligible if you do not care for the battery drain on the band. If your phone normally gets you through 12 hours (aka one day), you will still be getting around 10-11 hours. Own experience
Only when you activate it. (There's also an option for it to run periodically during sleep but I doubt that's what you're asking about.)
If you want to recod HR at specific intervals throughout the day then check out third-party apps like Tools & Mi Band – Android Apps on Google Play
For Android users there is Tools & Mi Band that have the smart alarm function, but Xiaomi removed it from the official Mi Fit app. The idle alert is there in the Play menu.
EDIT: Formatting and idle alert.
Edit: read that as a question!

Tools & Mi Band can export the heart rate to Google Fit
Pretty certain Notify & Fitness for Mi Band (which I don't use, but not because I don't like it!) can too!
I was in your boat for a while. Eventually, I reluctantly ordered the Mi Band 3 which I just received. One major advantage I'm liking so far is that you can look at (multiple) notifications on the watch long after they were received. On the Mi Band 2 I had notifications set up using Tools & Mi Band. It worked well, but if I wasn't able to look at the watch immediately when I got a notification I would have to check my phone instead. Now I can use my watch to view several notifications, which is great.
Another smaller advantage is that you can display both the time, date and step counter on the same screen.
All in all, I'm liking it so far. My biggest issue with it is the lack of icons for notifications. Hence there's no way to tell which app notifications came from (although I can mostly guess it).
This new (Hey+) device looks really interesting though, and seems to be what I was hoping the Mi Band 3 would be. I wasn't looking to upgrade again this soon but if reviews are positive and third party apps support it (especially Tasker), I'll probably go for it.
I realize this all sounds like a sales pitch. Part of the reason is I've only had the Mi Band 3 since yesterday and haven't fully made up my mind yet. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.
We're talking about this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en right?
It supports root to enable it to get authentication from Mi Fit for a more reliable connection; so unless this was way back then it only didn't like Lucky Patcher.
If you have an Apple watch, I guess you have an iPhone too? You could see if there are FOSS or non-internet-enabled apps for the Xiaomi Miband 2. I know there are at least two such apps for Android, Gadgetbridge and Miband Tools.
The device is dirt cheap too, at around 35€. It "only" has notifications and heart rate monitoring, though.
With Mi Band Tools you can set up an alarm that vibrates until you shut it off by holding the button on the band.
Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
you can do that with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
A couple others apps are also able to do it as well I believe.
That said I haven't found the HR monitor to be crazy accurate and turning on the continuous monitoring will burn through the battery in no time.
All you did can be done with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
It was one of the best purchases of apps I've ever done. The dev also pushes updates and new features, which is great considering that the app just like it is, is always frecking awesome!
Get this app to control absolutely all notifications in greatest detail on your Mi Band 2. It supports absolutely everything and will even show scrolling text with the content of the notification on the Mi Band 2 is you so desire. It makes the Mi Band 2 a far more powerful tool for notifications than the competition.
Regarding steps: Yes, it does show less steps than the competition and even the old Mi Band 1. However, I actually found that more accurate - the Mi Band 2 appears to be much better at ignoring random, non-step related arm movements. As someone who prefers under- over overcounting, I'm happy with the Mi Band 2. And it's not like any fitness tracker actually shows the exact steps, it's all about showing a trend and self motivation rather than scientifically accurate measurements.
I'm also new to the mi band. Have you tried out mi and tools band? Supposed to be really good https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
Im either going to buy mi band or unlock fit and notification app but cant decide which one.
Yes, the original Mi Band. I use an app called Mi Band Tools.
Here it is flashing red and vibrating when I get a new email. The color is a bit washed-out in the GIF, but it's red.
This is great for me because I have some hearing loss. Now I can get my phone's notifications without having the volume cranked up.
Tools & Mi Band doesn't seem to work without the Mi Fit app
EDIT: To people downvoting me, Tools & Mi Band is not the same app as Notify & Fitness. The former doesn't work without Mi Fit, the latter does.
I guess the best way to use Mi Band 3 is using Mi Band Tools so Google Fit can get the heart rate data and close the connection between Mi Fit app and Google Fit so the data remains strong.
Unfortunately this device won't be as smooth and useful as I thought it would when i bought it. My next fit band will have GPS and possibly be a Google device (if it has Google Play music it will be perfect).

Oh, the Mi Band Tools lets you configure it to do some interesting stuff, like smart alarms for sleep and so on.
I forgot to mention that I also have Mi Band Tools (Tools & Mi Band) for notifications. I think that one needs Mi Fit installed. (I may be wrong)
You also need this app for the band to work with Sleep as Android. But my experience with it is great. It picks up all the moments I wake up and gives great insight into your sleep patterns.
Id reccomend Mi Band Tools, its a paid app but worth it in every way.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en_GB

Im not sure about the automatic week reminders, but then after that you could use an app Called Tasker, which definitely would be able to do that and it integrates with Mi Band tools to put whatever you want on the screen, where you have full control over thje top header and content of every notification and the vibration type even how its dismissed.

Id strongly recommend it.

It's this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
It's a little more expensive than most apps, but it's incredibly powerful (it does quite cool things like showing you who sent you a message).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
It occurs to me that you might have an iPhone. If so, apologies as I don't think this app is on iPhone and I don't know what equivalent apps are available.
Great job mate! Just want to mention miband 1 and 2 are now compatible with Sleep as Android app. That and other features are possible thanks to this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
There are two options, as mentioned above:
1) Switch your phone's language to English, but if your contact list contains 'unknown' characters such as Ž, Š, Č, or your Slovak favorite, Ř, they will get replaced by '?'. My friend's name, for example, is Očenášek. This gets changed to O?en??ek, which makes the CallerID function worthless.
2) Use the awesome Czech app - Mi Band Tools. It offers Caller ID as well as custom notifications (like who's texting you on Messenger/WhatsApp etc.), and adjusts the fonts so that contact names don't get all messed up.
It may not be a "biometric scanner" so much as a fitness bracelet.
I originally bought a Mi Band because I wanted to see what my sleep looked like. That was 2 years ago. I now own a Mi Band 2 and use it exclusively as a "Smart Lock" and for notifications.
My phone stays permanently on silent (and Tasker switches it to loud if the band ever disconnects). I don't bother people in meetings, movies, or on the train and I notice way more messages than when the phone just vibrated in my pocket.
I do remember something from this sub-Reddit about OnePlus announcing 3 devices. Certainly possible they want to get into another market.
Words of Wisdom for OnePlus though: Mi Band Tools made the Mi Band worth the purchase. If OnePlus is releasing a Smart Lock/bracelet, it better be up-to-par with Mi Band+Tools. Literally (not figuratively) life changing.
This one has it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en > Continuous heart rate monitoring & notifying, configurable heart rate dashboard charts (Mi Band Pulse, Mi Band 2).
Its cheaper than on Amazon because it ships directly from a retailer in China or Hong Kong.
The Good:
Cheap
Charges can last 10+ days easily
Has heart rate monitor
Text message alerts by buzzing, same for phone calls. Also has buzzing alarm capabilities.
Can sync to Google fit (with a delay) to then sync steps/calories to MyFitnessPal.
Auto tracks sleep times
Shows your overall earned exercise calories for the day as a total. Mine says I earned 424 cals today for moving around instead of Fitbit's exercise+existing calories bundle. So you can "aim" to hit a concrete exercise calorie total rather than have it subtract calories later in the day.
The Bad:
Heart rate can over/under estimate by 5-30bpm compared to my Fitbit Charge HR.
Heart rate is "on demand," so you have to ask it to check HR. It doesn't have the ability to save your HR constantly. (You can buy a $3 app to have "constant heart rate," with a few other options. Check out /r/miband for more info)
It overestimates steps. I have 20k steps on my Fitbit, and 27k steps on my Mi Band today.
I will admit, overall I don't recommend it as your main tracker unless you're new to step trackers or are really super tight on a budget. I wear mine for text message alerts (which my current Fitbit doesn't have), and as a back-up step tracker so I don't go without one if my Fitbit dies unexpectedly. So you can buy it for fun but its not the most reliable out there. I'd stick to Fitbit if I were you, the constant heart rate tracking makes them worth the price.
I ride a motorcycle and there's no way I'll feel a phone vibrating in my pocket; any phone. My workaround has been to get a Xiamoi MiBand and the Mi Band Tools app to get the band to vibrate only for notifications I car about.
no idea on toggles, but my confidence comes from that there a million versions of the app out there, each with tweaks and customizations like here http://en.miui.com/thread-53761-1-1.html guys on that forum always translate and fix stuff. honestly when mine arrives i'll just buy this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Can you use logcat?
If not, then this- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Is a Tasker plugin for mi band. I have the amazfit one from the same developer, it has an option to send the number of button presses to Tasker as a variable. Example I have 2 button presses to play\pause media (podcasts, Spotify, Netflix depending upon context etc) 3 starts Spotify, 4 does find my phone...
I had the MiBand 1.5 and 3, and both of them sync with Google fit. So you can sync MFP and GF and feed info from the miband.
there's a third party app for Miband that give a lot of options more than the og app( you still need it though)
>Mi Band Tools
Just clarifying - you mean Tools & Mi Band right? I just want to make sure there isn't a third tool I can try. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
I have Mi Fit first of all, but you can also install that one (keeping both). There are more settings and more watch faces. An unlimited list btw
I completely agree. One false reading of a minute or max and it looks like you have a massive BPM range. A levelled average is my preference such as this image which is from the Tools & Mi Band app on Android. I miss that app quite a lot
I've solved it in the meantime... but completely by accident and without using the Mi Fit app!
Here's how I've done: I've installed Tools Mi band: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
(I've installed this app since it's needed to use with the app 'Sleep as Android')
Than, having the Mi Fit app still installed, if I run this Tools Mi band app, now it can detect the device!
I don't even know how it has worked... If I open Mi Fit app, it still shows the bug with no 'add device' button. The Tools Mi band must bypass this step somehow.
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution.
I've found a almost solution... I've uninstalled the app and installed "Tools & MI Band" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
than, I've installed Mi Fit again and was stuck as before... But... I can connect via "Tools & MI band" and control the device without any problem. I've heard the Mi Fit is crap anyway so using another app is good for me. But you need to have installed Mi Fit for "Tool s & Mi Band" to work.
Hope it helps...
Thanks :D quick question regarding point 1. I can't find "Mi Band Tools" on Google play, is it the "Tools & Mi Band" paid app?
Have both apps connected to fit now. I'll let you know if it plays nice (adventure sync has sometimes been wonky on my s9 in the past)
N&F is good as is Tools & Mi Band. N&F does better for tracking workouts, Tools has gesture controls. There's also Mi Band Master, but I had problems with it.
battery life is terrible on asteroid (max 1 day), how about a miband 4 it's cheap and have a very good battery life and you can get notifications on it, also you can use that instead of the xiaomi app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
This app allows you to configure a gesture in the band to launch a program or start a task from Tasker. I haven't used it much but it looks like it might do what you want.
First you need software to give you notifications, I'd guess bitcoin ticker or something like that.
Second: use this tool to configure what kind of notifications you'd like to display on the band.
To be honest, I've payed more attention to the app in the past, even before using a Band 2.
Looking at recent charts, there's a red line 2h30 into my chart that I can only explain with the band turning off (or the phone shutting off Bluetooth).
Would need to contact the developers to be sure, either for Sleep as Android or the Mi Band Tools companion app I use to connect. ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools )
Update: I forgot to mention: you need Mi Band Tools (paid) or another 3rd party app that can integrate Mi Band 3 with Android as Sleep:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
I didn't mention before because I unninstalled it after forgetting that this integration is needed and it didn't work after unninstall
Hmm mind taking a look at the "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en_US" app

If so, could you check if it's possible to auto dismiss the alarm or auto snooze every 20-60 mins
I would appropriate it

I think sleep as android works with it, but not exactly sure if they have the features I wrote in the OP
I had one for a while before getting a Whoop, check out this third party Mi tools app, it's far better than the official app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Ga akurat, makanya saya cuma pake buat alarm, jam sama notifikasi aja, fitur lainnya saya anggap bonus.
Terutama alarm, bisa bikin lebih disiplin waktu bangun tidur, apalagi kalo dikasih mi band tools, trus diatur supaya matiin alarm harus dari hape... Soalnya saya lama-lama otomatis mencet tombolnya buat matiin alarm, hehe...
I already have an app called Tools & Mi Band which I bought. Let me check with the developer if this feature can be incorporated, rather than installing / buying another mi band app.
Are you using the latest version of Runtastic? As far as I've read, Mi band worked until version 6.3.
However, I purchased Mi Heart rate for enabling the continuous monitoring and it worked fine with Nike+.
Which option did you choose when pairing the band with the app?
Otherwise I'll try with Mi band tools (are you talking about this one right?), which I was already planning on purchasing.
Comprato giusto qualche giorno fa e mi sta parecchio piacendo.
After also solely using my phone for some time I've been frustrated while waiting for the Android Wear watches to step up their game.. The recent let down that is the New Balance watch finally tipped me over the edge, and so now I've opted for a different route: the Mi Band 2.
Now that I've used this setup for a little while, I'm a fan; particularly for what it cost (just over thirty bucks). In addition to a great battery life, a third party app extends the functionality of the band even further (including continuous heart rate monitoring.) All of this information syncs to Google Fit for easy analysis.
Maybe the watch market needs another couple of years to shrink devices down, advance user interfaces, and allow us to completely un-tether these devices from our phones. In the meantime this solution has me more engaged in my health than I ever though was possible; it's fantastic.
The only alternative that I know of would be something with limited functionality (MiBand 2 - yes there are metal bands for it) or poor battery life, bigger size and price (AW, Wear).
I'll probably switch to the MiBand 2 myself if the worse case scenario becomes reality. There's a great Android app for Xiaomi bands (Tools and MiBand).
Or you may want to wait until February to see what Google's Pixel watches have to offer.
Try this one... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Under heart rate, the third tab (settings) has a section down the bottom called advanced. In the bit there's a sync to google fit option.
You can use MiBand&Tools to get continuous heart rate check on MiBand, but it'll drain your battery in a couple of hours. But with this app you can also set it for any interval, and in my experience, one check in an hour will get you a couple of days of battery life.
I'm assuming it's this one which is named differently in the store but shows up named that when installed. I've purchased it, and a new Mi Band 2 which I didn't know existed until today. Thanks.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Mi Band Tools offers said continuous mode.
It drains the battery and doesn't exactly offer great results since the Mi Band needs to be pretty stationary to successfully measure the pulse (and even then results are mixed) but it's there.
You have 2 I think.
Tools & Mi Band and Notify & Fitness for Mi Band, I think the por version of the second app, offers something simmilar to music control. But you need to search that on your own.
I just started using Tools & Mi Band app for continuous (regular interval) heart rate monitoring. Works nicely, syncs with google fit.
App notification is far better than the default app. Lets you choose icon & lots of options.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Wouldn't a collaboration with devs from the most popular apps that would use such an API make sense?
My reasoning is that it would be in the interest of both Xiaomi and the app's developers to work closely together. Integration with 3rd party apps means more sales for both the app developers and band manufacturer.
but in this sense, it could also work like you mentioning in your previous comment which I agree with:
> The next best thing would be to work on a handful of integrations which cover the top x% of things people want. I suspect ~5 apps could be around 80-90%
The dev behind Mi Band Tools seem to have reverse engineered quite a lot of things considering how many features he continuously adds to his app. He's also recently started working with the Sleep As Android team to try and sort out a way to make MiBands work with their app.
That's what I've been doing, and it works great. The main thing I wanted was sleep tracking and smart alarm. The Mi Band Pulse had both features (automatic sleep detection too), was cheap and had a long battery life (I'm getting close to a month of battery life) so I went for it.
I think it's way over estimating steps and the heart rate sensor is a bit of a joke, as you have to use the app to measure heart rate and it does not track it automatically throughout the day or when you exercise.
Still, all the data syncs flawlessly into Google Fit, I've never had any problem pairing the band (except the first time. Tip: when it asks to tap the band three times to pair it for the first time, you have to do so quite vigorously). I also use the band for some notifications with the help of the app MiBand Tools (I'm sure I could do more with it but haven't taken the time to explore yet).
But OP could also just bring his phone with him and simply use the built-in body sensor / activity detection + Google Fit if his phone supports the feature.
You can also use Mi Band Tools, I switched to it recently because I wanted the ability to set different alerts for the same app based on filtering the text in the notification. Works well and was pretty cheap.
There's an app for the miband called Mi Band Tools that lets you set custom repeating alarms, so you could have it vibrate every X minutes between 7am and 10pm or whatever to remind you to do things. I haven't used that feature but it sounds like it might work?
Agreed with tmartykan. I highly recommend turning off notification via Mi-Fit and letting a 3rd party app handle them as they are very reliable and customizable too.
You can use either
OR
Both are identical in function and well worth the money. You only need one of them, so be sure not to be running both if you have purchased both.
The $1 investment will cover all your notification needs.
Heh, I suppose for your average user three might be enough and in all fairness, I took my list down from the initial 6 or 7 apps down to four that notify me with this app
Slack, my reddit client, IM app and SMS's get to notify me. Oh, and battery life is the least of my concerns.
Any progress on getting some of the crew to do a AMA?
You can use Mi Band Tools together with official Mi Fit application. It offers some additional features like individual custom notifications (per application, per contact, global) and also some neat additional features like power nap (are you tired? just activate power nap and Mi Band will weak you up by vibrations after 20-40 minutes, depending on what nap you set up).
You can use Mi Band Tools and always have the latest Mi Fit version and the latest Mi Band firmware in addition to great and powerful notification features.
You can use Mi Band Tools together with official Mi Fit application. It offers some additional features like individual custom notifications (per application, per contact, global) and also some neat additional features like power nap. This way you can get best out of both worlds - original Mi Fit and some other additional features not available in Mi Fit. Mi Band Tools is brand new application and is currently under heavy development, I'm currently working on features like inactivity reminder.
Editation of the time in tweaked app is not working in android < 5. I would suggest using my Mi Band Tools and always have the latest Mi Fit version and the latest Mi Band firmware in addition to great and powerful notification features.
Necessary API for BLE (bluetooth low energy) was introduced in Android 4.3 so as long as your device contains BLE adapter (Bluetooth 4.0 specs), you're good to go. Mi Fit works with 4.3+ as well as other useful Mi Band applications (like my Mi Band Tools)
Fair point, I didn't realize some of that stuff was already in the app since I was running the Play Store version before. The one thing that I thought was new and was excited about though, was being able to graph your weight (and change it on the user profile page without glitching out). Another big one for me was that the previous firmware was misreading the battery level like crazy...sporadic 20% drops out of no where. Step counting also seemed off.
As far as custom notifications go, I haven't played with that much since I have an android wear watch, but it looks like there're a couple apps in the play store now that let you customize notifications (like MiBand Tools mentioned earlier in this thread). It costs money, but looks like it might be worth it.
You can use Mi Band Tools and always have the latest Mi Fit version and the latest Mi Band firmware in addition to great and powerful notification features and many more (e.g. power nap).
You can use Mi Band Tools and always have the latest Mi Fit version and the latest Mi Band firmware in addition to great and powerful notification features.
If you don't mind, I would like to promote my Mi Band Tools application. With this you can always have the latest Mi Fit version and the latest Mi Band firmware in addition to great and powerful notification features and more (e.g. power nap features).
Have you checked out Mi Band tools? It's pretty awesome, much better than the Mi Fit app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Mi band tools is a great app. Adds much more functionality.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Or save yourself some battery and offload the vibrations to a Miband and customise it with an app like this?
Gadgetbridge is (was?) a very useful app for owners of some wearables (Pebble, various Mi, HPlus protocol ones), replacing proprietary companion apps, which often require making accounts or sharing data from the wearable over the public internet, with an open app holding minimal permissions by design.
According to the text of the takedown notice itself, it has been submitted by the developers of this proprietary app.
According to this article, the claimed copyright infringement involves the posting of a screenshot of the proprietary app as part of an issue someone posted in the Gadgetbridge GitHub tracker. Reverse engineering, which is explicitly made legal under the DMCA in various circumstances, is also alleged as an infringement.
A statement by the u/gadgetbridge_dev account belonging to the Gadgetbridge developers is in this thread. GitHub apparently did not even notify the developers about the notice in advance of blocking the entire repository, as they state they do in their own policies, stopping them from having a chance to remove the allegedly infringing content (not posted by them).
(Edits: minor changes and addition of reverse engineering claim)
I personally use the mi band tools app and Sleep for Android. I keep the mi fit app for updates and notifications.
Mi band tools allows your data to be shared with Google fit, which is pretty handy. You can also pick a greater amount of time to set your heart measurement intervals too (I'd recommend turning off the heart monitoring on mi fit app though, or it will measure on each, your battery will only last a day or two otherwise)
And the Sleep for Android app does a great job of handling your sleep data. It's more comprehensive and has an alarm too which is better than what the mi fit app offers.
But this is just my personal use case, but hope its of some use...
Edit: I should say I don't use my band for fitness, because I'm a lazy bam.
Tools & MiBand has a "Sleep as Android" integration. It's not a free app but is def. worth it.
Found it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Costs 3.19 EUR though, I think I'll pass.
To do what? I use the original Mi Band app and I use Tools & Mi Band for notifications. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en_GB
I think you can try this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
Not without a third-party app, like Mi Band Tools.
Your only option would be to check out these 3rd party apps (Way better than original):
Tools & Mi Band (Requires Mi Fit app to work as far as I know) or Notify & Fitness for Mi Band (Does everything by itself) or Gliderun (Haven't tried this one much) and there's this Gadgetbridge (Interesting because it's open source - I got some ideas out of that).
Those are all apps (that I know of) that support Mi Band 2.
Personally I would recommend 2nd option if you don't want the Mi Fit app. That one has a lot of options (way more than official app). I don't use that one though, I have Tasker custom handling notifications and only using Tools & Mi Band to send the notifications to the band.
The MiBand tools can do that and so much more. Definitely worth the little investment. link
Mi Band Tools can. The notification customization is worth the $2 imo.

It's a decent alternative but it does lack some features that I miss from my Pebble.
The OLED screen is really bright and works excellent even in the sun but has no always on option. I don't mind it as I never looked down at my Pebble without shaking it first to turn on the backlight and tilting the Mi Band turns it on 99% of the time when I lift it up to see the time.
The screen is a bit small compared to the Pebble 2 but with a digital watchface it's quite easy to read the time.
It has custom watchfaces! This is something I was confused about as every video review I saw didn't mention anything about it and just showed the single default one. Sadly it does not have weather support on the watchfaces but it has a 4 day forecast in the weather section on the main menu.
Notifications works great too! The Mi Fit app has built in notification support but I'm using a companion app called Tools & Mi Band on my Android phone (I don't think there's an iPhone alternative) to handle notifications as you can set custom titles, rearrange how notifications appear, set custom vibration patterns per app and much more. Sadly there is only a very limited selection of app icons (top left of the photo) as they are built into the watch firmware. It also shows who's calling.
It also has music controls that works great! You can't start music from it but you can control any music or media player that's currently active.
I'm not really using it as a fitness tracker but the Mi Fit app syncs up with Google Fit and it tracks steps, GPS tracks and heart rate.
And finally, the battery is good. They claim up to 20 days on a single charge and some people over at the Mi Band subreddit has gone past that as well, but as a heavy user of vibrations and a lot of notifications, I got just over 7 days out of it before I had to charge it which is perfectly fine for me.
So, the things I don't like, the touch screen is one of them. Not because it's bad, in fact it works really well and the interface is well designed to work with it. Why I don't like it is because it keeps activating when worn under a slightly damp sleeve. (This was my number one issue when I had a Samsung Gear S3 too) The screen has a lock option that requires you to swipe up on the screen after turning it on to use it, but if you even so slightly turn your wrist inside the jacket it will unlock and start going into menus. Luckily the worst thing you can do to it is a factory reset, but the Mi Fit app will restore the settings you had when you reconnect it.
There is an option to have the band lock when you take it off but if you don't wear it at night, notifications and the heart rate sensor will keep going. You can enable Do Not Disturb on it but it's 3 menu items deep so it takes a while to find it and enable it. If you use the Tools & Mi Band app there's a quick toggle in the notification shade you can press to turn off notifications quicker. The heart rate sensor doesn't stop reading unless you turn it off within the Mi Fit app. Again, it's a quick toggle in the Tools & Mi Band app and with Tasker support, I have T&MB turn off heart rate tracking and notifications when I put my phone into DND mode.
There is also no multitasking. If you want to use any of the workout trackers, the stop watch or the timer you can't close out of it to see the watchface without stopping the activity first.
And finally, the things I miss from my Pebble. The ability to use custom apps is a letdown but I don't know what you could do with such a small screen. I had a calendar app on my Pebble which was really helpful to quickly see upcoming dates and week numbers.
There is also no calendar timeline to see upcoming events. This is the feature I miss the most and the Amazfit GTR is supposed to have this, which is something I look forward to when I can afford to buy it.
If there's anything else you want to know about the Mi Band 4, I'm all open to questions. :)
I'll save folks some time after a Google search:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools sleep as android might be worth a look too
Tools & Mi Band is practically a requirement for usage, especially if you want track sleep with Sleep as Android; both Sleep as Android and Tools & Mi Band are compatible with Tasker, so you can do interesting things like automatically enable heart tracking when you start sleep and disable it when your alarm goes off.
I've used the Mi Band 2 up until very recently and can give a pretty detailed review of my experience with it if anybody likes.
I think Mi Band Tools can do that.
I think he's talking about Tools & Mi Band. Not a free app though.
You can try a third party app like Tools & Mi Band https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Oh, not sure, but maybe look into Tools & Mi Band. It might be able to do what you're looking for.
Never heard of that app but Mi Band Tools works for that
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Yes, it's Tools & Mi Band in the app store. The icon title is Mi Band Tools, so that's confusing.

Mi Band Tools can do this.
I highly recommend you check this app then, it makes my Mi band even more worth it, it's amazing. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
Sure, I can point you in the right direction! In the past I was using the custom app on the forums here: http://en.miui.com/thread-53761-1-1.html
However, nowadays you're better off with one of the external apps. There are two I have tried on the Play Store, and which one you end up using will depend on the features / price you want. For me, both have worked fine:
Mi Band Tools: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Notify for Mi Band: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mc.miband1&hl=en
I'd suggest trying out the free version of the Notify app first. You can always refund either within the 2 hour window so it's nice to try both when you can dedicate a time slot to each.
mi band tools supports Mi Band 2?
edit: not yet CF: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Mi band tools with the latest update can monitor HR continuously https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Miałem starego MiBanda, ale można rozszerzyć jego możliwości korzystając z Tools & MiBand
No, but this app is better :P https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Mi Tools is a great app with a number of unique features.
I use Tools & Mi Band. I think you can also use the Amaztools if it's an iPhone. Some other ones I've seen people mention in comments: WatchFace Installer, Master for Mi Band. But I've only used Tools & Mi Band so that's all I can speak for.
Just download this app and when it syncs, the band language changes automatically https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
For Android but it's paid. I feel it's worth it

yup

The only way I've found is to install a 3rd party app ($4)
Install this -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
and follow these instructions -> http://help.mibandtools.com/knowledge_base/topics/google-fit-synchronization
> Mi band tools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
this one?
Not sure what this does for mi bands with buttons. I'm still on a 1s. Maybe it can do something for you though. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=es
Totally worth it buying, the best app for mi band 2.
Yep: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
Can parse arbitrary app data (regex) and provides short custom display text and icons and vibration patterns.

"Mi band tools" is now Tools & MI band?
I think it is possible in a similar fashion to this app for the Mi Bands but someone has to develop that too.
I use Android and I have bought this android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools It has functionality for mi band 1 and has a smart alarm thing.
New update of Mi Band Tools seems to support that feature: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
This is the app i was looking at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools
This one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.zdenekhorak.mibandtools&hl=en
Does it replace the default app?
Today I released Mi Band Tools and without any modesty, I can say that it's the best notification app out there ;)
Tools & Mi Band seems to have a Sleep as Android integration. I haven't tested it personally, but maybe that'll interest you.
Tools & Mi Band lets you measure HR at intervals, say every 5 or 10 minutes.
