I use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black works amazing for me and there's even a separate theme for dark notifications once you download the app. Apply it through LG World
SystemUI Tuner, in the app store by Zachary Wander allows you access to LG V30 UI tuner. I use it to disable most notifications I dont like (unfortunately you still cant remove AT&T logo without root). He updates weekly, and has a git you can post bugs/requests too as well.

I have the Spigen Liquid Crystal case that I'm happy with. It's successfully absorbed a few drops onto hard flooring.
Nova and Niagara. I paid for Smart Launcher and Action Launcher 2 back in the day too, but I always went back to Nova until Niagara popped up a couple months ago. The latter's currently my daily driver.
From left to right: Rotation lock - HiFi audio - Vibration mode - Mobile data
I personally used SystemUI Tuner to remove unwanted icons (rotation lock, bluetooth, NFC)
If you install and enable this dark theme black buttons become an option in settings. I currently haven't found another way of enabling it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black
This one is working for me. It turns the brightness slider into a rainbow for no apparently reason, but everything else seems fine.
For the two sliders if you swipe all the way down then click edit as if you are editing your quick settings there's a 3dot menu on the top right where you can enable various options and sliders.
For the dark mode I am using this theme called pixel dark. I got it on the play store. I've been using it for a while and love it. I like it a lot more than the white theme that's default
This Pixel Black theme works really well, even with modified DPI settings, but it isn't free. All the black looks incredible on this screen, though.

I'm using UX8 Black with black notifications.
I originally was using High Contrast, but after I moved to Pie I switched to this and couldn't be happier.
You install the app from Play Store (linked above).. install the theme from the app, then go to Android Settings -> Display -> Theme , select the theme and apply, reboot and you're done.
In this sub for starters, here is an example:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv30/comments/cvqkxh/32_battery_after_67_hours_of_stand_by_on/
It suggests this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.jtunes.dark
But there are a few posts on the subject.
Settings/ general/ accessibility/ vision/ high contrast screen. That's the dark theme. Or install a dark theme from the store like UX8 Black. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black
There are other good paid themes too.
Screenshot - I use Relay!

He has a link to separate APKs where you can change the notifications to black.
You can uninstall built in apps or services via adb but I don't recommend that. You can only restore them by factory resetting. Better buy this app which will let you disable pretty much anything you want and still have everything reversible. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pdmdm.dmplay How do you know what to disable? By guessing. Most of the apps and services names are kind of self explanatory.
I don't use anything like this personally so can't say how the battery will be affected. I just installed this one to test though, and it lets you customise the refresh interval and location detection method, so you should be able to set it up to not drain much battery at all.
The screen not being on top does not surprise me unless you use your phone a lot. It seems like they've managed to make an exceptionally energy efficient display!
You can use apps like GSam to see in details what's causing your drain: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm&hl=sv
I got the IQ shield one on Amazon. I pretty much exclusively used glass protectors prior to this one since they were as close to the feeling of not having one on as you could get, but I am not a fan of the ones that do not have full adhesive. Since not protecting this expensive hardware is not an option for me I figured what the hell, let's give wet application a try again. I love it so far.

Amazon says no.
> Card slot: microSD, up to 256 GB (uses SIM 2 slot)
It would also be keeping in line with LG's past, the G6 had a hybrid tray.
I also have the pleson charger and it does look just like this one. For anyone who is interested it works very well and the v30 can be portrait or landscape to charge
Edit: here's the link to Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYLQ2TP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_P0ayAb6WB9BEN
They sell lots of variations of these on amazon all under $20

I'd actually suggest using UX8 Theme instead of high contrast.
In addition to not having the orange highlights, it also themes the notifications black as well.
I use this one, it's pretty sharp!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black
Also this wallpaper!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxelus.livewallpaper.betta
If you're not into high contact/pure black, here's a theme that's dark grey (Google material design color) and works on 8 and 9. Inexpensive, love it.
The Twilight Theme beta has a great dark theme and dark notifications.
Make sure to sign up for the beta, which supports Pie. Then install, go to Settings / Display / Themes, select and apply, then restart.
Take a look at this theme in the play store if you want a dark theme. But obviously it's only the LG Interface and you won't be switching the theme on and off depending on the time of day since it takes a while to apply.
I am using pixel experience dark and i couldnt be happier.

Since all the other questions are answered, just use Fluid NG for swiping up to go home, although it requires a pc to set up i think

I'm running stock os with my favourite theme on it, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.g7black this one. It's an AMOLED black theme with some cool colors. By the way, you've made a good choice selecting the v30. It's the best phone I've ever used, and I've used some really good phones before.
If you want the android oreo pixel theme but black I highly recommend this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixelb
He themes android messages and stock YouTube to be completely black.
If you want the android pie theme then definitely go with this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience.dark
They are from a theme called pixel exprience.. by mark bencze.. he is probably one of my favourite lg theme maker lol. Here's a link to that theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience
There is also a dark version of that theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience.dark
I am saving for dark version but am wholly satisfied by normal one.
I had the same problem and it was driving me nuts...almost reset the phone. I did though find a solution. Download an app called Addons Detector.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector

Once installed click on the "?" for detailed instructions on how to find the app that is causing the popups....then you can delete it.

Good luck...
Install Notification History.
It starts recording your notifications after you install it, and the second you see this error message again, pull up NH and you can see what app is triggering it.
My wife, samsung S7, and I, LGV30, both use Android Messages as our sms app. We both had similar issues with "stock" apps but it has been smooth sailing since we switched.
EDIT: Switched to gboard as well.
Or install Nova and customize things as you wish. You can set different icon packs, control whether or not you have the bottom swipe for apps (which is awesome), and a bunch of other features.
There isn't. Weather Timeline (and other weather apps) have a permanent notification you can enable with the temperature as the notification's icon. The AOD shows notification icons, so that's where I get the temperature from.
I use the Soundmagic e80c IEMs and there is a giant difference between high impedance and lower impedance headphones. The quad dac isn't triggered if your headphones aren't high enough impedance. These are about $50 on amazon and you won't be disappointed if you grab them.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0U9YMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1EmSBbWR8NCBW
The closest you can get is using a fingerprint quick action app like this one and setting it so that when you touch the power button it goes home.
You have to disable all keyboards you aren't using. To disable the LG keyboard you need to use "LG package disabler" from the play store, which will allow you to disable any stock app, even if it's greyed out in system settings.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lgpd.pmanager
Follow the instructions carefully for the installation and you'll be good to go.
S9+ has a larger battery. V30 does 10% better on endurance tests but 15% worse on web browsing tests.
I hear a small amount of audio quality improvement through my Beyerdynamic COP with the Quad DAC. It really doesn't make sense to choose the V30 over the S9+ unless you're some really hardcore picky audiophile - don't forget that the S9. If you're a run of the mill earbuds user, quad DAC is irrelevant. If you use high end, low impedance, headphones outside, you won't notice the sound quality difference due to the ambient noise. If you want to use it at home as an audiophile: why not use your own audio setup?
Daylight performance on the 'regular' camera is, in my opinion, down to preference. I like the V30 over the S9+ on normal photos. Wide angle is debatable. On my 2 week city trip vacation, where you'd expect an ultra wide angle cam to be amazing, I actually have only made 1 photo where I was really happy I had a wide angle cam, sacrificing quality of quantity. Usually, when you want to capture a lot, a panorama does much better than wide because you don't capture more of useless air/water/ground compared to your subject. At night however, the S9+ simply performs better. Let's not even start about the V30's atrocious selfie cam.
V30 is perfectly fine indeed, but worse than the S9+. Compare them side to side, S9+ is brighter and has better colors.
I bought one in the Netherlands (through belsimpel) a week ago for 540 EUR. I was considering OP6, S8 and V30 as my final choices.
https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8161&idPhone2=8712
Major differences:
Low-light camera performance. S8 is much better.
Front facing camera. S8 is much better.
Video overall quality. V30 rocks. Albeit in these bullet points please do note that both camera's are great and won't be marked as 'bad' by any means, just the difference between great and greater.
Power button. S8 has one on the side, V30 on the back (finger print). V30 has double-tap screen to wake, so I don't miss the power button on the side, but it does take a day to get used to.
AMOLED. S8's screen has a tad better colors, better quality control (afaik) and is a tiny bit better in sunlight.
Infinity display. V30 rocks a normal 3D screen, which is IMO prettier and more practical (I have used an S8 for a day and really disliked the infinity display)
Quad DAC. V30 has it, and is amazing for audiophiles. BUT the V30 has a headphone jack at the top, which is quite annoying.
Manual camera/wide lens. V30 does it just a little bit better, especially with its wide lens.

You'll need the google app called "wallpapers" for it to work.
I'm using the Adobe Premiere CC 2018.
I've been working on Sony Vegas, Grass-valley Edius and DaVinci Resolve.
DaVinci is free tough. it's very powerful. It's not easy to use (is not MovieMaker, but is similar to the others), but once you learn it, you won't change it probably. It has everything you need in it. There are a lot of nice videos on youtube for DaVinci.
It doesn't matter if you are amateur or not. You don't need to spend time on something that will not be useful to you in long period of time. ]
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/
My 1st program was Sony Vegas - it's not so "rich" but is easy to learn and it does the job just fine.
Keep in mind that all "linear" software for editing are pretty much the same. Different, but same :)
You can go with each of them.
You can create a new account using maybe TunnelBear it has free data. If you still can't make the account, search on YouTube: Tidal 3 months HI-FI or something like that, there's ways to use their free trials but that's for another topic. I was skeptical about buying UAPP at first, but it's worth it. The only bad thing it's it's g.u.i... Same man, if I find something else about our phone's dac I'll let you know!
I have the bear motion case from Amazon. $9, very slim, lots of grip. The phone naked is far too slippery and I didn't want to add bulk so this was the best I found: https://www.amazon.com/Slim-Case-LG-V30-Premium/dp/B0753C4PM6
Ringke Fusion is the way to go if you want to still see your back, great for dbrand and slickwraps skins, also not too pricey either, it's protected my phone for about 3 months of a clumsy lifestyle. P.S. The smokey Black version won't have wierd yellowing and it looks great with the black v30.

The Twilight Theme beta has a great dark theme and dark notifications.

Agreed, but I'm afraid it would be a "garbage in" type of bug report as I don't have any logs, nor a simple method to reproduce. I can't say with 100% certainty that there is an issue with the UX8 black theme.
I did successfully install Mark Bencze's Pixel Experience Dark Theme Beta and it is working great for me, zero issues.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience.dark (costs $1.50)
Here you go. Choose the one with black notifications after installing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.ux8.black

afaik there is none, the default clock widget has very limited customization options. so i installed this app from the playstore, lots of font and colour customization options and i love it :) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maize.digitalClock&hl=en_IN
Before all Im a Solid Pantech user before, after Pantech bankrupt and lost in the era. Its hard for me to choose what brand to be Then i select LG due of its really good company and im having interest making theme on it That time I buy V30 and its really good phone Then i change to G7 but im not so impress on G7 now V40 and V50 i try it both But i decided to choose V40 due of it almost the same and its more cheaper I suggest u to get V40 or wait for the V60
Anyway heres 2 my theme for all LG running UX8 Pie

I successfully use an old, ugly, out of support EQ app with a notification icon that ABSOLUTELY drives me mad when I see it... but it works well, so I stick with it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
I use the free version, and I manually enable and disable when needed via Nova gestures.
I use Equalizer FX app, so when i click on the equalizer option on Spotify, it opens up the app. And it seems to work really well with Spotify. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devdnua.equalizer.free
This app seems to work. You need to set portrait and also "guard" move to stop the rotation icon coming up. There are other similar sounding apps in the play store, but I'll let you research it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.crape.rotationcontrol

Been using this for a very long time and dark (not black) notifications too!
So the best AOD solution I can find that isn't a total pain is an app called Always On AMOLED.I tested it out a bit and it works as advertised. It's also pretty widely customizable.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomer.alwayson
Depends on the launcher, you could use Nova and get the Google Now Companion app. Or by just using Evie Launcher
Thats all i know at least
If you can't figure out what happened, a lot of other keyboards have this feature, such as Swiftkey or Gboard - the Google keyboard.
Well there is one version for the built-in theme engine, and one for Substratum.
The built-in one is better in my opinion, it seems to be more full-featured, much smoother and supported in an official way.
It can be found here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.wsdeveloper.g7black It's this one right here. I love this theme, I found it from a recommendation on Reddit. I think it's the best one and it has colored volume/brightness sliders and that looks awesome.
I have been using this for well over a year now. It does not come with a plug in charger, but using the stock one, or equivalent definitely does wireless fast charging.
I have had some pretty decent luck with this. Doesn't fix all the issues, but makes it a lot better than the default: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en_US
Get yourself this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery
Accurate presentation of battery data and usage statistics. The app also explains to user how to charge to optimize battery life. It's one of the few actually useful "battery" apps you can find on the store that is not a scam.
I use Rec for screen recordings and then converted it to a gif using ezgif.com because I know how much Reddit prefers GIFs. I don't know of any apps that save it directly as a gif sorry :/
Hmm that's odd. See if you can download Android System Webview directly from the Play Store. If that still doesn't work, then you might (unfortunately) have to just do a factory reset and go from there.
I only skimmed through the thread so I'm sorry if I'm repeating something.
As you already know, Phone is just a "sub-app" of Contacts. If you used an ADB command to remove that (pm shell uninstall...), the Phone app will disappear as well. The only way of getting it back is to factory reset your phone. If you make a backup with LG Bridge on your computer first, it's not that bad at all. Takes a few minutes tops.
Why you can still answer calls is because the telephone service is separate from the Phone and Contact apps. That why you can change phone app as you please. When you call your phone, you're actually seeing the telephony service app. When you're making a call on your phone, that app actually tells to the telephony service app what to do.
If you're rooted, there are better ways to remove apps. Ways that will allow you to reinstall the apps if you need them later. If you're not rooted, I'd suggest freezing apps for a few days before you actually remove them to see if everything works okay. Apps like Package Disabler can help you with that. If you're rooted, my favourite debloat app is called Debloat and can be found in the Magisk Manager. It's a bit tricky to get started with but I can help you if you want. Since you've used ADB in the past, it shouldn't be a problem for you :)
There's 3 gain settings for the headphone amp. "Normal", "Aux/External", and High Impedance (or something like that). Each one triggers based on your headphones impedance value and will be louder than the previous mode. If your headphones are near 50ohms impedance then it may be triggering High Impedance mode every now and then. Triggering Aux mode can be done by connecting a 3.5mm cable that has nothing connected on the other end, but sometimes my headphones that have inline controls/mic would trigger Aux mode.
If you use this app, you can be notified when it switches modes and save your ears. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apptrio.hi_fi_status
Am currently using this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.black
It is basically like the black theme that comes with stock Lgs, but the accent is blue instead of orange. and it well integrated within all stock apps like mail, dialer, clock... the added bonus for me is, after applying, the home and lock screens turn pitch black. Being a minimalist obsessed myself, this suits my needs quite well.
only minus shall be: instead of blue accent, Crimson dark (my favorite color, but not popular within apps designers ).
Google says £500 is about US$704 today, which seems like a good price. I've had this phone for four days, and it is the best phone I've ever had. It's fast, has a great main camera, great battery life, and a beautiful screen. The stock launcher is good, but you may want to try out some custom launchers (I use Nova Launcher, which works well on this phone).
Call Recorder by skvalex works perfectly on my V30. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it. It's on XDA and the Play store.
I switch between Shuttle pro https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplecity.amp_pro
and the built-in "music" app. Dont listen to much music on my phone though, but both of those are pretty good in terms of features, UI, and audio quality.
Business Calendar 2 is awesome. Really efficient use of screen space. Spectacular month view. I like the agenda widget on my home screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appgenix.bizcal
This is probably true.
Tip: Try this app before buying an adaptor. There are others like it if that perticular one doesn't work.
Have you tried installing an app such as WLD Light?
I used it to track down that Facebook and Instagram were using a lot of battery with my phone on standby.
Well I mean, if you've tried it all you could always convert the file to something like an MP3 or M4A
If you want to covert audio on your phone I'd recommend using Timbre as the app of choice :)
There is no such option in the Settings app. You'll have to set it up in each individual app's settings. If there is no such setting, you can try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ws.stefma.soundcontroll&hl=sv
Personally I'd try BK Package Disabler instead; it costs a bit more, but you get more features. Sounds like setup is similar.
LG Package Disabler was already pulled once and by the sounds of it everyone who'd bought it was SOL, why take the chance?
You sure? I have one called Email on mine. H930DS. Check Settings app if maybe you disabled it unintentionally.
Otherwise I would recommend Blue Mail: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.bluemail.mail
Relay is the Reddit app I use. You can switch the colour schemes in the sidebar.
The system theme is on the play store, not LG World.
Nova Launcher, Whicons, KWGT Unity Widgets
Battery life has been great. I don't think there's much overhead with this setup.
I just installed this app. It needs some Lock permissions though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
But when you have this app, you can bind the Nova Gesture to the app and then it works like a charm. Just set it up like
Settings -> Gestures & inputs -> Double tap -> Apps -> Screen Off
Consider trying out GoneMAD Music Player or Neutron.
I'd bought both Poweramp and GoneMAD once upon a time, and eventually stuck with GoneMAD for a variety of reasons before getting my V30.
I just tried switching between the DAC on/off, and between Poweramp Beta (b.703) and GoneMAD, and noticed the former doesn't seem to have full support for the quad DAC.
For the test, it was pretty unprofessional since I'm just going by ear, but I did ensure whatever consistency I could.
All in-player settings were disabled (most notably DVC off in Poweramp; and GoneMAD's custom audio engine turned off, since it has no DVC), and the DAC's own settings were set to the default (short filter, normal EQ preset). You can test the GMAD trial for two weeks yourself and see how it works out for you, as well.
First of all, the Poweramp beta doesn't abide by the full 75 step volume slider even with DVC disabled. It steps 5 each time; GoneMAD one by one.
Second, output. With the DAC disabled, they have nearly the exact same output; but when enabled, GoneMAD is much louder despite leaving the volume steps unchanged. The DAC-based difference is obvious in both apps, but GoneMAD is undeniably louder than Poweramp with the DAC enabled.
I'm not sure what they're doing differently in the technical department, but (at least for me) GoneMAD is coming out firmly on top in utilizing the quad DAC's potential.
Another good theme to use if you don't like the orange in the high contrast is the black pixel theme from the play store for about $1.50- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixelb&hl=en
I believe there are other official lg dark themes in the LG store but most of the best ones are from independent themers and available in the play store (usually about $1-2 but there are free ones as well). Currently using this one myself and it's pretty nice- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixelb
not yet, but maybe in 8.0+
double tap to wake works on the notification bar so it works anywhere that is shown so it does work on custom launchers homescreens as well (at least it does on nova launcher)
4, 5- haven't had time to test these out too much yet, although from the few pics I did take the quality is pretty good especially with pixel camera port
Check out 'Changer - Wallpaper Manager' in the Play Store. I've been using it for a bit now and it works quite well. You can set different profiles\settings for the Home and Lock screens.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesessa.changer
Let me know what you think. I refuse to use the stock app for taking photos of my kid.
You can use an app called Key Plus to change the volume up double tap to open whatever app you want....but you have to unlock the screen after, so kind of pointless. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apptuners.keyplusapp
Yeah, I was impressed with that on my Note 4. Until I found out it didn't work in the dark and so had to set a reasonable timeout anyway. I guess Samsung could next-gen this using their retina camera's IR but nobody else has IR AFAIK.
Maybe this works? 80p for full version if it does. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kkeyser.android.eyebuddy.demo&hl=en
