My best friend and I studied together through high school and our bachelor degree. During high school we had a 3rd friend that studied with us (that went for a different bachelor degree) and then found another 3rd group member in university.
Study groups have been most effective for me since there are other people keep me on topic. In my experience, 3 people is the perfect amount. If there are only 2, it only takes one to lose focus and then you stay distracted for longer. If there are 4 or more, it's way easier for someone to fall behind / lose focus without the others noticing.
We always tried to find an empty classroom / any place with a whiteboard and then worked together on the homework / material by discussing it.
Right now, I am on my masters degree, and haven't found any study group so this is a lot easier said than done. What I've found best while alone is to have some focus app on my phone that has some background music for a set amount of time, and then tells you to take a break. The breaks are usually too long, but I study really well for those 50 minutes (when I manage to start).
(Have not been diagnosed with ADHD. Have an appointment in June)
Edit: Worth a mention, I use the app Pzizz (also helps me fall asleep), but there are subscription fees for the pro features so there might be some better free alternatives.
Too bad you missed the 40% off dealio the other day when they moved warehouses at bluebird botanicals. That's the vendor I used btw. I also use 400mg of magnesium citrate from vitacost and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003710UVS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 occassionally oh and i use this app most nights https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pzizz.android&hl=en&rdid=com.pzizz.android&pli=1
I have tried everything and when Hot Fuzz or Guardians of the Galaxy for the hundredth time doesn't work I use a meditational app called pzizz.

Pzizz! You have the option to choose between napping or sleeping and the duration. There's calming music and brainwaves, and a (optional) voice that guides you.
There was a thread not too long ago about good apps where someone suggested to try this app and it has helped me sooo much while studying!
Hope it helps!
Btw: the nap function has an alarm at the end and it will most definitely wake you up

What I'd suggest is that you pick up an app like Pzizz or Headspace to teach you how to meditate quickly. And, if that meditation turns into a nap, it's totally fine; you'll get a bit of revitalization in your day either way.
Source: Daily meditation/napping with Pzizz. It's totally free and time adjustable and is also available on Google Play
Youre absolutely right, it's actually called pzizz.
