Check the rego on each one (I believe there is a free app for it).
If the cars are unregistered, I am pretty sure he can't leave them parked on the street.
It's up to you to make sure your car is registered, not the governments.
They have an app that's really easy to use to remind you, and there's nothing stopping you saving it in your phone calendar to remind you.
I also wrote it on my service sticker.
You could even just go and get a sticker and write it on that yourself and stick it to the front of your owners manual as a reminder, or the inside of the windscreen, or your calendar at home.
You're not gonna win this one in a fight mate, cop it on the chin and do the right thing.
Biggest deal isn't that you were unregistered, it's that you were uninsured for that period, if you'd hit someone, they'd be stuffed and you'd be royally stuffed.
A bloke I went to high school crippled a person in a car accident, same thing, uninsured due to being unregistered, he's still paying off his debts. Not exactly sure how that works, as he barely had cash as it was, but he's still paying their insurance company a portion of his wage.
The Qld Govt rego App allows you to either enter the rego plate or the VIN number.
We use the App at work when auditing work vehicles used by contractors on Govt projects.
It might sound intrusive at first - though sadly there have been too many people driving around unregistered.
