its a characteristic of the transflective screen technology.

The up side is REALLY low battery use and an clear and east to read screen no matter how bright the sun on it is.

I've had a LG G. I can easily say that I prefer this screen over the LG G watch screen. I dont miss the higher res and cleaner image. Especially with my current fave watch face, I just dont see the grainy anymore:
