You have to get Google Fit working as it's the only source the game pulls fitness data from. Normally, the fitness service should even work by itself without Google Fit on Android phones, as it's just a GUI to look at data saved in Google and configirate it. However, it's not necessary that Fit measures it's data itself for it to count ingame.
There are fitness apps that can sync their data to Google Fit though, which is considered valid data fir Pokémon Go (well, you can literally write an app that puts fake data into Fit). Usually they come with their corresponding fitness armband, but these are not necessary. I went trough a few of such apps and had success syncing from the adidas Running App (Runtastic) to Fit. You'll find that option in the apps settings: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runtastic.android
Other apps like that are Runkeeper, Strava, MapMyFitness, Mindbody, and Headspace. If that still doesn't put data into Fit, these apps either face the same OnePlus related issue or Google completely rejects any data from your device. Keep in mind to remove these apps permissions from your Google Account after uninstalling.
I'm sorry, didnt realise there's further instructions for andriod.
>1) Download Runtastic for free (NOTE: THIS IS THE FREE VERSION.)
>2) Open the Runtastic app, go to Settings -> Runtastic -> "Enter Promotion Code" and enter "APPOFTHEDAY". Now you can enjoy all PRO features for free!
On Android? Runtastic has been where I've landed, and it both lets you choose which audio cues to get, when to get them, and has a "Shorten" option for audio cues to cut down on how long they take.
And it's one of the few apps that will let you upgrade features with a one-time purchase, not tied to an ongoing subscription.

I like Runtastic. Great material design, Android wear support, connects to Google Fit, clear history and statistics. Also uses less battery then most of the other apps I tried.

Ultimately, you are going to want to track only your running time and distance. The Adidas Runtastic App will let you set up an custom interval workout which will give you data on each interval. Go to Settings, Workout, Interval Training and add your own.
Courage !
Hey awesome! Can I recommend the Runtastic app? It lets you know how many calories you've burned by estimating based on your weight, speed that you're running at, hills that you're going up or down (based on GPS data), and can even add or take away additional calorie estimations based on your qualitative analysis of the road conditions and weather.
I'm not a calorie counter when it comes to eating food, myself, but I like looking at how many calories Runtastic thinks I've burned, because it validates and quantifies my assumption that my 1.5km run up a steep hill was a bigger workout than my 2km run on a flat road.
I've always liked Runtastic. Nice design, works well and doesn't use too much battery. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runtastic.android
Runtastic , Runkeeper, Endomondo and Strava Running just to name few. There is no "best" app for running it's really up to your own preference. I really like Endomondo as I've used before the update for AW came and you can customize it what is shown on the watch so that is an extra plus.
Found a video that shows briefly the apps on the Android Wear watches but it is not in English though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEevqX9EGlY
The Runtastic series of apps are also really good for tracking.
They have dedicated cycling and mountain bike apps too.

yes, you're welcome to download and install that completely separate app, and have it transfer your calories burnt into myfitnesspal (and nothing else, since mfp dun care) for an accurate daily calorie budget

many more apps that can send their calorie data into myfitnesspal are available, even Strava: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps
