I think it's really novelty that makes people want to try, especially there's so much hype about chat bot, and it does seem fun to chat with one.
One thing i do agree with him though, is the current batch of bus apps are overwhelming, they are not designed for daily commuting behavior. Having to scroll through a list of bookmarked bus stops and buses everyday? It's gets troublesome and frustrating sometimes.
I think there are no apps that can solve all issues or satisfy all users -- even the award winning SG Busleh also can't. It's all down to personal preferences and your experience with it.
Personally i prefer this SG Dr bus app that can auto sort my buses based on my current location. Makes it easier for my own commuting.
Accomodation
Probably can try searching for your accomodation via this website.
Transport
You can go almost everywhere with the public transport in Singapore. Just need to get a EZ-Link card and you can travel via Bus or Train.
You might want to equip yourself with some local bus arrival apps like: SG Dr Bus
Though a international transport navigation app might be better for first timers here. Try City Mapper
Uber and Grab are used pretty common here, relatively cheaper than Cabs most of the day (except for peak hours)
Food
Generally, if you avoid restaurants and go for coffee shop or Hawker centers, a meal can be less than SGD 5. Though food at downtown are usually more expensive too.
"SG Dr Bus" is what I use
