Here's a couple more if you run into issues. I own the pro version of Team Battery Bar and it works great for me. On another device with a different google account, i'm using PowerLine which seems to work well and lets you add another bar for cpu, ram, downloads etc. No idea on battery savings for these. Thinking back, I've gotten a battery bar of some sort working on my last 4 phones and 2 tablets, love it! Good luck!
This is the one I use if I cant run the gravitybox one.
Team Battery Bar is by far the best.

I'm rooted using xposed and gravitybox. Gravitybox has the battery bar.
Team battery bar works similarly.
Would a battery bar suit your purpose?

> all features I expect from a smartphone work flawlessly
Well thats just not true. One of the key features of smartphones are the apps of which there are barely any on windows phone. The App Situation is joke compared to Android or iOS.
In fact on Android I have started to expect the unexpected, meaning regularly finding new apps that truly enhance my experience and add new unique features. That has never once happend on windows phone BY DESIGN. For example but not limited to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.batterybar&hl=de Battery bars etc.
Their release timing has been "we will add this soon^(tm)" ad infinum and with the exception of continuum which isn't out yet they have yet to integrate a single feature that iOS or Android hadn't at least a year longer. I'm sorry but microsoft has done only one thing consistently: FUCKING UP WINDOWS PHONE. This might change with windows mobile 10 but even that is barely competitive featurewise with android 4, when it's finally out android 6 is already on the market.
Microsoft needs to truly catch up and not just continue to give us some promises they usually don't end up keeping anyway
