I feel like a weird game detective... Your description was pretty indepth and it made me think I'd seen a game like that before. I believe you are describing The Last Express.
Note that I haven't really played it, so this might not be the right game. I briefly installed it after getting it in a Humble Bundle. But my phone at the time couldn't really handle it, so I uninstalled it. I remember it being on a train and the art style being what you described.
I checked through my HB account and found it was part of the Humble Mobile Bundle 12 that was available around May 2015. So if you've bought HBs in the past, check and see if you've already got it.
If you didn't get that HB, here is a Play Store link: The Last Express. Yes, it appears to still be available.
If you wanted to look at some of those screenshots, it does look like it takes place on a train and that there is a red head character. Hopefully this is what you were looking for. If not, good luck finding it.
Edit: also check out The Vestibule that u/blackman9 mentioned below. That also looks like it could be what you're talking about.
Available on Play store:

There's also Hercule Poirot ABC Murders game:

There are some but sadly I've yet to play most of them. But anyway:
The Last Express - never played that one but I've seen it mentioned from time to time on various "best of adventure games" lists.
Gobliiins Trilogy - I've played Goblins 3 a long time ago. Truly a classic point and click with really great atmosphere.
Simon the sorcerer - Another classic that I've yet to play.
Grim Fandango - If you want to play just one adventure game - make it this one.
Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2 - Those two are "must have" as well.
YESTERDAY - This one's made by creators of "Runaway" series on PC so it's probably quality game, although I haven't played it yet. There's a paid and free version on Play Store but there's no info what's the difference between them (the free one is a demo perhaps?)
