My husband and I recently made a small Point and Click Adventure game called Dozy Dieter.
It's a free, 20-30 min long adventure with a silly story about a tired tourist who will do anything to get some sleep.
Android version is now available on Google Play Store.
Windows, Browser and Linux versions available on Itch io. Both links below:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DaniM.DozyDieter
https://danim1.itch.io/dozy-dieter
p.s. Big Thank you! to everyone who played before and provided some feedback, much of it has been implemented! :-)
I think you should instantly begin playing Monkey Island 1 and there's a remastered version out for mobile. It's from the same guys who did Thimbleweed Park.
You can also download ScummVM for android and play many of the old classic LucasArts or Sierra games on that app. You just need to buy the games on gog.com or have the games downloaded on your PC. Transfer them to your phone and open them in the app.
The best LucasArts games in my opinion are: (many of these have remastered editions out on mobile platforms)
Monkey Island 1,2 and 3
Day of the Tentacles
Grim Fandango
Full Throttle
Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis
The best Sierra Games, in my opinion, include:
Gabriel Knight 1 and 2
Kings Quest 6 (maybe 5 as well)
Leisure Suit Larry 6
Unity with the Adventure Creator asset will be more than sufficient.
Right off their website:
> Adventure Creator is a fully-featured Unity extension that takes the headache out of developing your own adventure games. Its flexible design allows for traditional 2D point-and-clicks classics like Monkey Island, cinematic epics like The Walking Dead, 2.5D keyboard-controlled games like Grim Fandango and even physics-based tablet games like The Room. Adventure Creator works with both Unity Free and Unity Pro, and caters to newcomers and veterans alike.
and a few others that never saw the light of day.
Hope this is of interest! If you have any questions, please ask. Here is the full Interacting syntax, and this is an adventure using it, a bit of a hommage to Zak McKracken and other Lucasfilm adventures.
I played Mission Critical (1995) last year and its like that (prerendered background, click to move). It's an excellent adventure game if you like scifi. Felt like it could have been a star trek episode. (It actually has Michael Dorn too). Highly recommend.
Les Manley: Search for the King is a nice little game in the vain of the classic Sierra games of its time.
Fable not to be confused with the more famous Fables was a decent fantasy adventure.
Yes, the only "snag" is just perhaps overly lofty ambitions in a small time frame. Things are progressing; just not at breakneck speed.
Check the Kickstarter page for updates, there was one just the other day.
Broken Age by Double Fine is an awesome game, and the video series about its creation on YouTube is really interesting. Also, my free game, Journey Home (available on itch.io) is worth an hour of your time ;-)
Definitely. I think that Chris Jones' Adventure Game Studio really did a lot to propel this renaissance. There were a lot of free indie adventure games made, and a few really good games or game remakes.
In the last couple of years, though, there has been an explosion of great games.
Seconding this. Inform is brilliant, very powerful, and very first time friendly, particularly due to the excellent and built-in documentation.
No pirating needed, Inform 7 is completely free. It's probably the best place to start.
I use Text Fiction on Android. It's surprising how well text adventures translate into a texting format. Though it sounds silly saying that now. =P
Wow, I'm getting old :) Literally not a single good old game on there :) You probably won't like the games from the 90s as much as us old-timers cause you won't feel nostalgic like us, but you should go to gog.com and buy everything LucasArts and Sierra and get back to us with a revised list :)
It's not modern and it's not at all like Submachine, but since you haven't had any replies... this might be my favorite adventure game. I still play through it once in a while.
I enjoyed the newer Sherlock games as well.
Actually I just found out they are on sale for PC here: link
But if your PC can't run it or you'd rather play it on a big screen, I still think it's worth the $20. Just thought I'd let you know. :)
> Also, for anyone else running Linux, the demo worked 100% in WINE, as most AGS games tend to.
No need for Wine -- just unpack the installer with innoextract and then play the game with the open-source AGS interpreter (which is what Wadjet Eye bundle with their official Linux releases). This works great for the both the demo and for the full game.
Check out Thimbleweed Park if you're looking for a solid newer release.
Otherwise, some of my favourite old games are:
Leisure Suit Larry 3, 6 and 7.
Police Quest 1, 2 and 3.
Space Quest 3.
Day of the Tentacle.
You're missing out on so many awesome games if you don't use DOSBox. Shortcuts are pretty easy to setup and if you get stuck I'm sure you'll get some help on here.
Two favorites this year:
Prominence - Nice variety and logic to the puzzles, great sound and voice acting. Text hacking was really cool. Liked how the story started on the web site and continued in the game.
Stasis - Scary without jump scares, powerful sense of mood/atmosphere., Decent puzzles. Reminded me of Sanitarium in a way, but in kind of an Alien-esque universe.
Hopefully so! Sometimes it takes us a bit longer, (a week or two). The first game is available there for free now though!
I am really in to the hidden object adventure genre. In particular, I am always looking for some games with a strong plot, good detective story, unique gameplay. Recently, a game called “Taken Souls: Blood Ritual”, the game cut my attention.
The game has:
- Great story
- Animations
- Interesting characters
- Addictive gameplay

One of my favorite mobile adventures is «The Inner World». It's got a sequel now, but I haven't try it yet: «The Inner World 2: The Last Wind Monk».
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.application_systems.nellyCootalot Received the audience award by adventuregamers.com for Best Comedy Writing and has the voice of Tom Baker. Puzzles are not too hard. Overall very entertaining.
This looks kinda interesting. You mean this one here, don't you? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.threeminutegames.lifeline.google&hl=de
Have you played the second one, too? Can I play it without a smart watch?
I recommend Bal Hanuman Adventure game.
Bal Hanuman - a game where users can ride on an adventure to showcase their skills on all different levels.
I'm not sure if you managed to get everything up and running on your side, however, as part of myself and u/GantzIX's archive project we have built a Virtual Machine that's already pre-created and ready to go for playing Fade!
Hey guys, myself and the original poster u/GantzIX have been working together on a 1112 Archive Project aiming to keep this game alive. We aim to record it's history in full and potentially find some unused content and unknown information.
Feel free to join us over at r/1112byAghartaStudio to follow up on some updates and you can find the Archive Project over at the following link: 1112 Archive Project
I believe you only need to install scummvm and then get some files from the game into your device (download or copy from the cd). After that, scummvm will be able to play it.
I wanted to make a fun game that can be played with one finger, that's how the overall moving mechanic came into the picture, any feedback is appreciated and welcomed.
If you want to try out the game yourself, here you go:-
IOS (coming soon)
Shannara was designed by the Coles for Legend Entertainment and are based of the fantasy series by Terry Brooks. Think of the game as QFG-lite. Mostly an inventory based game but has combat though without stats.
>Pendulo's lesser-known games
Even less known and still amazing is "Hollywood Monsters", a game by Pendulo studios from 1997 which is entirely in Spanish (patch with English subs was made). The game is finishing with a hint for... "The Next Big Thing", a game that is basically HOLLYWOOD MONSTERS 2.
Pendulo also made a very fun classic game Igor: Objective Uikokahonia. It has some amazing humor and challanging puzzles (and a one annoying maze).
Yes, vApe Escape was released as Humble Bundle Original game for Humble Monthly November 2018. You can play it now if you subscribed to that month or if you're a general subscriber, i.e., have the access to the Humble Trove.

Bear in mind, when it is released to Steam and itch.io sometimes during March, we will update HB version too with German and Russian translation. Although, Steam version will be the only one with the achievements.
Can do I'll just rip off what's on the kickstarter it's an Old-school 2D graphic adventure game featuring space-time distortions, a dystopian atmosphere.
Here is a link to the demo for it Mac & PC
Here is the plot: A terrible pandemic is turning all of humanity into the Dissolved – the sick whose deliria provide them with supernatural cognitive powers... but also steer them towards a gruesome death. The root of this illness seems to be the Great Wave, an inexplicable chain of natural disasters that destroyed all energy sources and communications and plunged the world into a chaos ruthlessly controlled by both the authorities and the army alike. So the player will have to help Michael, a man with no past, recover his identity and decode the events that brought the world to the edge of collapse. Because, if Michael doesn’t hurry, he won’t be able to avoid the impending moment of dead synchronicity... when Time itself dissolves.
Unless you're crazy about Steam achievements and pop-ups (I'm not) I'd advise you to get the original game from GOG.com. The Steam version also skips the memorable credit scenes, which is a real shame.
Monkey Island for DOS is one of my very first traditional adventure game and personally, it can be pretty difficult.
There are just some EXTREMELY silly puzzles which doesn't make much sense to even veterans, let alone a newcomer!
Personally, I think "Flight of the Amazon Queen" is the PERFECT game for beginners, which also happens to be free on GOG.com as of right now. And if you don't mind emulation then you may want to try " Scooby Doo Mystery" for Sega Genesis.
I'm actually surprised that I'm one of the few people here who have actually played the game. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a 'gem' but... it's really REALLY good!
I don't have any ideas, really.
Were the graphics better or worse than Daggerfall?
An orc for reference.
That's not the only adventure game which suffered from poor publishing, I think little big adventure and the original fable aren't known by many adventure game players...
My assumption is that no one talks about it because few people have ever heard of it.
MyAbandonware has a copy of it if you're just looking to play it instead of having a physical copy. http://www.myabandonware.com/game/tequila-boom-boom-33a
Yes, definitely play Igor! It was a fun game, however I remember there's this one annoying maze part that is slightly frustrating - you might need a walk-through for that one :]
I played Resonance and loved it as well - basically any game made by Wadjet Eye I'll automatically love. I hope you played the Blackwell series - if not, please do! It's slightly fantasy but you'll enjoy it anyway.
If you don't mind not-so-great graphics, you could try Two of a Kind (story by Dave Gilbert, head of Wadjet Eye Games). Like Resonance, it has a cool concept - you get to control two main characters, and each main character has their own special ability: Tim has the ability to levitate, and Tiffany can talk to animals.
Look here:
Look for DOS emulators online.
https://www.dosbox.com/ - might work better in firefox b/c chrome doesn't work well w/ Java or Flash.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a fun one that's extremely challenging!
> Is there a way I can make my own characters or AGS?
I don't quite get the question. If you want to make your own characters in AGS it's not too hard you can use Paint or any other program like that. Paint.net is also very nice. Also here's the ags wiki you may find your answers there
I've never had a problem with it on my win7 (64bit professional), but if it's a codec problem, I've always had cccp and the k-lite codec pack installed on my computer, so perhaps one of those has solved a problem that I didn't know I had?
Also of note, it's not the steam version that I have, but the boxed bundle.
Are you playing Black Dahlia from an internet download with the patch where it is supposed to work on modern systems? When I originally played the game on Windows 98 with my CD version, I never encountered that glitch. However, the last time I tried from an internet download, I encountered the same glitch you described.
It's a fantastic game! I truly wish it would be re-released on GOG.com or Steam.
Are we talking about the same torrent, I wonder? Because the one linked in Donna has a new home! on the game's official site let me choose which files I wanted from the agsarchive torrent just fine, using the latest version of Tixati.
The software you are looking for is called parsec: https://parsec.app/
It it basically teamviewer for gaming, with very low latency. I play all sorts of games together with friends this way. It supports mouse, keyboard and gamepads. Have fun!
Fyi: if ypu are going to play with discord or something similar and have problems with echo in audio there is a faq on their website adressing this problem.
Using pages

you could set up many branching conversation choices.

Would that work for your dialogue trees? Or were you looking for something else?
>Dark Secrets is an indie first person adventure/mystery game set in a small Scandinavian village. In this game you take on the role as Arthur, a young man who after many years returns to his childhood village, due to the sudden death of his father.
[](/demo)here.
While no firm release date has yet been announced, the developers are currently targeting a downloadable release of the first episode this summer through major digital distribution portals.

It looks amazing and I’d give my left nut to find an English version, if it even exists.
There are a bunch of different IF languages. It looks like that app probably doesn't have a Wuest interpreter. I think maybe this? Though it is poorly reviewed.
May want to check my game, it's about exploration, connect-the-clues, multiple ways open up. It's hard to get stuck I guess, but requires some dedication too. Feel free to try it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rt.diario
