Matey, when I was 3 there was Lego Loco. I don't know if it'll run on your computer, because it's from 1998, but you can get a free download from abandonware sites, and it's exactly what you want. Bright colours, trains that bumble around, little cars, it's fantastic. It's pretty much Factorio for 3 year olds.
I will forever miss the 'throne room' stuff from shogun 1
For those that never played it, all diplomacy stuff would take you to a little throne room, where there was a map of the world in front of you, and the emissary doing the diplomacy would come in, kneel down in front of you and hand you a piece of paper with the offer or whatever on it. Each of the factions had a slightly different room, and the emissaries all had slightly different accents. There was also a little old man you could click on and he'd turn around with the most uncanny valley robot movement and quote some sun tzu bullshit or something at you. And also a little geisha lady who sat in the corner and never spoke but I was young and enjoyed the eye candy. It basically looked like this:
http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/6755-3-shogun-total-war.jpg
Like, it was a neat little thing and made you feel more like you were a person rather than just you sat playing a videogame, but it was also a REALLY good way, imo, of showing the kinda culture differences and stuff. Like the japanese emmisaries were generally pretty polite, they'd kneel etc, and when you peaced out they'd say stuff like "Buddha's compassion go with you" and stuff. The european traders on the other hand would like, storm in in their ridiculous outfits with their ridiculous clothes being like "SOMETHING SOMETHING KING YYOOOAAAN OF PORTUGAL SOMETHING SOMETHING" and it was like... Yeah I dunno, it was just kinda neat and really worked.
And now we've got diplomacy screens where you just have little talking heads of faction leaders barking nonsensical shit at each other, it's kind of sad.
Oh man, I remember buying a four-pack of tycoon games at my elementary school's book fair. It was super low budget and stuff - blocky graphics and the like. But I loved it.
Actually, here's the game I played the most! Moon Tycoon. That website pans it hard, but I remember it really fondly. I suppose I had way different standards back then.
To quote myself from another recent topic:
My suggestion for post-apocalyptic would be AlphaMan and Caves of Qud.
Caves of Qud is easy to get on the dev team's site and has a lot of depth, plus a distinctive visual style.
AlphaMan is tougher to find. You'll need DOS Box or a similar emulator to play it, but in my opinion it's worth it. Truly unique roguelike, and sadly overlooked. I got it from this site where it comes packaged with an auto-running version of DOS Box in some kind of combined executable file.
You could try the old abandonware UMS or War College: http://www.old-games.com/download/5681/war-college-the-a-k if you can find something that will run it, or you could use the scenario editor for more modern games like Civilization to create the wars or battles and fight them out. For maximum distance from bias, choose a program that would let you set both sides as AI.
I haven't tested it but apparently you can download it here: http://www.old-games.com/download/8981/star-wars-episode-i-the
Make sure to make memes and post them to r/PrequelMemes.
I was making stop-motion movies with an old cam-corder, featuring my Legos by the time I was eight years old, however I distinctly remember the Spiderman Cartoon Maker being my first exposure to the realm of thought that "Holy shit. I can make whatever I want to." Here's an example of what most videos turned out as.
Hey, solid work! That's one of the most lucid and meaty answers I've ever gotten in a Trek-related question that isn't a simple factoid ("What was X:s name?"). Your reply embodies the finest traditions of Starfleet Academy.

Hey, I like AlphaMan! It's weird, certainly, but weird can be good.
No problems getting it to run (on Windows) if you get it from here.Use the slightly hidden 'free download' section at the bottom of the page if you don't want to pay subscription.
That version of AlphaMan comes bundled with DOSBox and is rigged in a way that means the emulator runs automatically when you double-click the game. Easy.
to follow up, this is real blocky, early 90s script:
commander keen, Prince of Persia.
this looks much more like modern pixel graphics style than an actual old script to me
I base that on the sole fact that she has the 'I'M A MURMAID' thing going on. It's a direct reference to the Sea Punk movement, and it's also shared by few other artists like Azelia Banks. By the way the whole music/fashion trend of Sea Punk has started on the internet and usually people affiliated with specific social networks seem to be aware of this trend, being the most prominent: tumbrl
When she did the horror movie remake she was thrilled she got the 80s version, but the version that she and Gia depicted was more leaned to late 80s/early 90s, specially considering the selection of colours. The same thing is noticed in a few of her runways, ~~the whole VGA game color palete~~. Let's try another link.
I know very little of Adore, but from what I understood from the series she's like the queer hipsters people here from São Paulo, specially that particular way of talking and expressing herself, then again, similar traits can be recognized in Sharon Needles and Alaska.
tl:dr: Tumblr queen = hipster queen. The stereotypical hipster with acetate glasses is already way too old. Adora embraces sea punk as the next big thing.
fyi: This is pure speculation. I have little information on most of the US scenes, the conclusion I got came from the small scope of information I have from Brazil.
Obligatory thanks to mediahint for allowing me to watch the episodes.
There used to be a stand-alone PC game a fan made. It wasn't totally finished but the actual gameplay was implemented perfectly. I put hours into that.
Not sure if it's still around.
Look for Triple Triad Gold. I'm on mobile or I'd do it myself.
Edit: http://www.old-games.com/download/5641/triple-triad-gold
This is the one I played!
In my bit of research apparently there is a newer one but I can't vouch for it.
One thing missing in these property games is a heavy finance aspect.
Ironically Baron (1986) http://www.old-games.com/download/4173/baron-the-real-estate-simulation had the best.
Interest Rates, % deposit (marketing? but affects finance), economy, marketing etc. Also what demand is like and building what supports that demand (ie. tech boom creates 1BR demand where tree changers want 3BR and larger with court yards.). Kinda like what the car tycoons have in options demand but in a smaller scale. Also type of area (poor, middle class, wealthy) also impacts options demand (again similar to car tycoons).
All the more recent ones have been in the time management genre - Century 21/Donald Trump Real Estate, Build a lot etc.
I want something heavier, from researching different demands for different areas, to approvals, finance, then designing, selling off the plan, and selling.
Also consider different countries development types. US and Australia focuses on large apartment complexes, UK on large 1-2 story building developments. Also consider niches such as retirement villages and time-share resorts.
Edit: Time management not team.
I can understand it if you want to micromanage HQ and staff more than the actual races. There used to be a game called Grand Prix Manager that used to have this feature. Basicly you would either set a pit-strategy or just let the game handle it. You would pretty much always be worse off, but it saved a lot of time.
In my main playtrough I did every race, micromanaged everything. But after 10 seasons, it gets dull and you just want to see if you got a win or not, skipping more often.
Skipping in this game should come with the downside that you have to run on medium/medium in setup or something. But I dont mind it.
Funfact for grand prix manager: It didnt consider that people would play that game for 100 seasons (like I did), so in the end I have a 120+ years old Damon Hill still being one of my drivers. Good times.
A 90s sci-fi game called Mission Thunderbolt had occasional cracks in the wall that would lead to areas that were usually much more difficult called Warrens. It was very tempting to take a look because of the greater odds of getting loot and in theory you could just crawl back through the crack. Died many times to my own avarice.
Great game for its time. It had interesting icons, simple animations and all sorts of fun sounds that the creatures would make.

Fishe-Price Great Adventures Pirate Ship?
This could be the part you were thinking of.
If I remember correctly (played this as a kid), this was the first screen you got when starting the game.
http://www.old-games.com/download/9241/indycar-series
There is a link to a download, so you won't need to buy it. I can't really help with the issues you are having. Maybe try using dosbox to run it?
That was once again a very enjoyable podcast! It was interesting to hear everyone's first experience with 4X. Mine was none other than Civ 1 (not the original DOS version, but the Mac one which had the much improved graphics of the "CivNet" version: http://www.old-games.com/download/5147/civnet). In fact, I have grown to appreciate Civ 1 more and more as years go by to the point that I've come to consider it the best game* in the franchise! (Alpha Centauri not included). Yes, better than all the modern iterations (though I do love so many of the ideas and concepts they introduced), and for justifiable reasons (flavor, pacing, scope, balancing perfectly between a board game and a "simulation", etc.), not just due to nostalgia. (*I used to put Civ 2 higher than Civ 1 for many years, but I've changed my mind once I realized how few "normal" games of Civ 2 I ever played/finished compared to Civ 1 games and that what really drew me to Civ 2 was the various Scenarios/mods, and the CHEAT Menu that enabled me to play around in the "sandbox" and make my own stories/mods. All of which was absolutely amazing, don't get me wrong, but purely judging the "basic" game, Civ 1 was probably superior)
I don't think I can give an objective answer to that question, because these old "gems" still feel very familiar to me and their interface shortcomings don't bother me. To put it into perspective, personally I'm still perfectly fine with the interface of Alpha Centauri, but also of Civ 2 and even Civ 1! (note: not the original DOS version, but the Mac version which had the much improved graphics of the "CivNet" version: http://www.old-games.com/download/5147/civnet ). In fact, of all the past Civ games, it's only Civ 3 that I find outdated and can't stand playing it, but it is also the installment that I had put the least time in back in the day, so that lack of familiarity could be a big factor.
By the way, I'd like to point you at a graphic designer's attempt to modernize the UI: http://www.keeganchua.com/#/alpha-centauri-redux/ It's not a mod of the game (and never will be), but only a personal conceptual exercise of that designer (and I don't agree with all of his design choices), but it is quite an interesting thing to behold.
Shadow of the Colossus is really good, tbh I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to tactical/strategy games, I never played them much. Overlord is probably the closest I've gotten to strategy games, but that's a love/hate kind of title. The Dragon Age games require strategy, on the hardest difficulty especially. Here's a list of some more: http://www.old-games.com/games/strategy
I liked this game back on DOS. It's a clone of a popular Trek game... called EGA Trek http://www.old-games.com/download/4228/ega-trek. You're protecting the Union from "Mongol" and "Vandal" invaders. Played the shit out of this as a kid.
You'll need to use DOSBOX to run this, or your game if you find it. Also, there's a list of Star Trek PC games halfway down this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Star_Trek_games
<em>Harbinger</em> is from 2003, it's a pretty shameless Diablo clone, but set in a sci-fi setting. You have three characters/classes to choose from: a tanky robot inhabited by the conscience of a recently deceased, a mercenary human, and an alien who is the last of her kind.
The combat isn't all that great, there's not a lot of depth to it aside from "switch to EMP rounds when fighting robots" but the atmosphere is pretty amazing, and I also like that each character follows a different story through different levels as they try to find a way to escape the planet-sized ship they live in: the Harbinger.
Just because I don't think it gets enough love, I'm going to suggest AlphaMan. Try not to be shot by laser-faced gazelles in a post-apocalyptic Central Park.
I remember playing a really funny hentai game that had an interesting premise. You start out really strong- kicking everyone's ass. Then you get cursed and lose all your power (essentially starting at lvl 1)
found it: http://www.old-games.com/download/3977/knights-of-xentar
I was looking around and found this link. It asks for a 5.95$ payment though. I do not know this website, maybe someone else can confirm if it's legit: http://www.old-games.com/download/7022/nhl-2004
Opinions on it seem to diverge: http://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-linux-society-1000004/dont-buy-games-from-oldgamescom-where-can-you-buy--29399430/
I used to have a game called Lightspeed when I was a kid. The premise was about trying to find and colonize a planet in a star cluster and dealer either diplomatically or violently with the various native species to get enough resources for your colony. I think an update could be really effective on newer tech and to my memory, several of the alien species were well thought out.
Have you tried googling for Schiffbruch? Because it looks like you got the name right!
Or if it's somewhat more recent, it may have been Wayward.
I know there was something like this for Spiderman
http://www.old-games.com/download/3367/spider-man-cartoon-maker
maybe a batman one too
Edit: Seems like it http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Batman-Robin-Cartoon-CD-ROM/dp/B000NXWZPC
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator was one of my first games, so I got used to inverted controls from that. People have also commented that Quake and Duke Nukem 3D (my first two shooters) were inverted by default. It looks like I had no choice!
Gotta suggest the Quest For Glory series. You can get all 5, including the VGA remakes of 1 and 2, for $10 on GOG.com
Slightly more obscure is "Out of Order," a freeware game whose original site disappeared You can find it on this site though.
It wasn't a torrent. It was a normal download from somewhere. But if you didn't pay, they throttled the download speed so it would take like a day to complete.
Edit: Site I'm talking about.
It was an amazing RTS where you could could go into first person mode and control tanks and aircrafts and lead your troops!
Now considered abandonware: http://www.old-games.com/download/5663/urban-assault
Free to download. Warning, this game has a very steep learning curve.
You have the word "solved" in your description, so your post is getting the green checkmark. You might want to edit it (change it to "s.olved" for instance) so that people won't pass it by thinking it's been solved already.
Now then. Murder on the Atlantic?
And a few people are even selling it on Amazon.
Do you remember Supremacy? That game had so awesome graphics! I loved it. http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/934-8-supremacy.jpg
Edit: Spaceship http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/934-7-supremacy.jpg
Sounds a little bit like The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary or The Island of Dr. Brain.
What kind of motorcycles did you race? (i.e. dirt bikes, choppers, street bikes).
Just based off of the green gear that your character wears, I would guess Edgar Torrentera's Extreme Biker.
Some other ones that come to mind are Moto Racer (has motocross and street bike races), Motocross Madness 1 and 2, and Motocross Mania.
Well, since my sona is just me I will say what I like.
Here are my 3DS game statistics.
Rune Factory 4 tops with 1061 hours played, followed by Pokemon X, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Fantasy Life, Story of Seasons, and Pokemon Y.
On PC I play Minecraft a lot and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Occasionally Skyrim. Lots of Taipan! for Windows Which is free BTW.
I also really like Final Fantasy 4,7,9, and 10. Tactics Advance and Theatrythem get special mention.
Favorite GB and GBA games are Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga (the 3DS remake is great too), Legend of Zelda Minish Cap, Monster Rancher 2 GBA, and Tamagotchi GB.
Pokemon Snap and Yoshi's Story have special places in my heart.
Edit: My other characters don't live in a modern world, so they don't know what video games are. One can do illusion magic, and likes to play tricks on the others that way, so kinda like a game?
Found it. It is called Global Thermonuclear War 1988, however, the game doesn't port correctly in DosBox and the screens are all off. Not sure how to get it back but here is the link I found it at.
http://www.old-games.com/download/7656/global-thermonuclear-war
> Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time
http://www.old-games.com/download/6255/journeyman-project-3-the-legacy
I remember having the first one and Silent Steel on my parent's computer. They'd never have bought them, they must have come free with the Pentium Pro they got.
I'm really torn on this one. The name immediately made me go "YES", but the short gameplay video I found didn't bring back that nostalgic feeling I was hoping for. But the whole "NeoTokyo" thing and a picture of the General Oblix dude (http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/8832-5-helicops.jpg) really makes me want to say it's this game.
If this truly is the game, it's no surprise considering how obscure it is. But I just don't remember it looking so bad, lol.
My vote's for Call to Power 1 or 2.
I used to play the second one a lot, and while I can't quite remember if you can build underwater cities, you can definitely built futuristic-looking ones on water.
Plus the first game had Civilization in the title, despite not being the part of Sid Meier's franchise.
Well, the same applies here. IKEA has announced that it'll be coming some time in the future.
For reference, I am still waiting for a 3dfx patch for Comanche 3
http://www.old-games.com/download/3920/darkspyre ?
I can't remember if it was this one or a different one. It was part of Sharware Breakthrough and I belive it was a DOS game.
Could have been a clone. Also a game called Vampyr - The Talisman of Invocation comes to mind
download it from any abandonware page, here's one option:
http://www.old-games.com/download/1456/mission-critical
there are some version that don't have the cutscene movies with live action, they aren't terribly crucial to the games story but its a nice touch, also some famous guy from star trek played a role in them
Someone came out with an ARL 96 mod for RL2, that was decent fun for someone who never had the chance to play the original. It had all the teams, Rabs' commentary, even Fatty's comments. Doubt playing it would contain the same nostalgia as the original though.
I found this link for ARL96, looks like it could be legit.
http://www.old-games.com/download/3367/spider-man-cartoon-maker
Edit: Also, it was Packard Bell computers that it shipped with. Let's take you all the way back to the 90's.
> I just found that Spider-Man disc the other day! Haven't tried it yet. > > Edit: I just grabbed it. Windows 10 is not liking it, as assumed.
I haven't used this myself, but this might be helpful. They offer two free downloads a day so don't bother with subscribing unless you really want to.
Yes, this is it! Thank you so much, man, you saved my alcohol-infused evening!
It's probably shit, but I need to play it again because nostalgia.
Edit: Now to find a way to get it. I wonder about http://www.old-games.com/ where do they get off? As in like are they charging for abandonware or are they running a good old games-type for service? Or well, it's not fair asking you.
Whenever I think of Edutainment from that era, I think of The Learning Company. This sounds like the sort of game they might've released in their Super Solver series... but looking at Wikipedia I don't see one set in a mall.
You might check out this list and see if anything rings a bell.
I found This link
but I have no idea on the legality or safety of the site.
It's an old game, so it should be very cheap if you can find a source.
It´s really hard to know what you are talking about with that description and I´m a real fan of turn based games, so sorry I can´t help you with this one. BUT you can try this awesome sites and if you search for it, maybe you can see it from a screenshot or a description, they have tons of old games: http://www.old-games.com/ and https://archive.org/details/classicpcgames https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games
I hope it helps...
>Cities/Villages with an AoE 2 main screen like interface (where you can enter taverns, shops, etc).
Reminds me of Rage of Mages. The actual missions were Diablo-like/isometric, but the towns were represented as menu screens. The dragon thing doesn't ring a bell at all, though. Maybe it's Rage of Mages II, which I haven't played.
WW2 era update.
A 4 man flying fortress type aircraft with gun batteries and bombs.
A spitfire/p40 single seater type fighter plane.
A motor bike with side car, with an armed pegasus variant.
A tracked/wheeled heavy indirect artillery kind of vehicle for shits and giggles, like this but modern
A warship and maybe even a U boat.
It was NAM, a shitty DOOM clone set in (surprise!) the Vietnam War. You can download it for yourself here.
It's from 1998, apparently, so it must actually have been a fairly recent release when I got it. Of course, the technology behind it was 5 years old already, by that time. Deus Ex and Half Life were released the year after, and compared to those it seems a lot older than it actually is.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Decker.
It's a freeware dungeon crawler based around Shadowrun flavor and dynamics.
It's unforgiving as all hell, and a little confusing to start, but it's a great take on the cyberpunk vision of hacking.
(Ninja Edit)
So I was gonna link to the original site, but it's finally been taken down.
Instead, here is a summary, and also here is a download.
I can't recommend this game enough.
http://www.old-games.com/search/?s=myth
Old-games is basically like Good Old Games (they even have some of the same install packages) but Old-games lets you download for free if you want, two per day at snail speeds. I've bought the month of downloads a couple times, it's worth it if you want a bunch of games and way cheaper than GoG.
I played and still have all the Myths from the files on there.
http://www.old-games.com/download/5234/evolution-the-game-of-intelligent https://thepiratebay.la/torrent/3440950/Evolution__The_Game_of_Intelligent_Life_(PC)
Old-Games.com has a manual on how to make it work for your Windows.
Hmmm, well I would say ARK is generally too simplistic to provide any real sense of natural selection. At best it provides a sense of realism for the physicality of ancient creatures.
It's really old but the best game for learning about evolution is... Evolution: The Game of Intelligent Life http://www.old-games.com/download/5234/evolution-the-game-of-intelligent Though actively using that to teach would take forever as it is a really really really slow game. :D
100% agree. I started with Flight Lite 20 years ago and have spent wayyy too much time with this stuff. Your real-life stick and rudder skills are terrible. You can't judge your speed and distance. Dear God, the landings... Bottom line, nothing prepares you for bouncing around in the air when you're used to a chair that doesn't move.
That said, I think sims do help you to understand the gauges and systems provided that they are properly modeled. And that's fun for some reason.
I can easily navigate with VORs, but can I land in a gusty crosswind?
It came in a cereal box and it was the best. I found this playthrough of it and I didn't watch the whole thing, but the opening bit just gives you a feel for the atmosphere. I didn't see the movie until college! I was missing out.
>Redneck Rampage
Great game, kind of reminds me of Postal in some ways.
I didn't play any text adventure games on DOS. My brother was playing The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. He try to get me to play it. But, it didn't really interested me. I did get into text adventure games later. My first one was call MindShadow by Activision. I played it on my Commodore 64. There is a DOS version of this game though. It had some graphics so it did draw me in. Later on I had played Zork, Planetfall, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and even Amazon a graphical text adventure game by Michael Crichton.
Here is a list of text-adventure games.
http://www.old-games.com/games/adventure
Most recently one I played. Was a old one call Battlestar(1997). https://inconsolation.wordpress.com/2013/09/05/battlestar-the-text-adventure-of-35-years-ago/
So I still enjoy text-adventure game now and then.
I played a similar-sounding puzzle game, but this had decent full-color graphics so it probably wasn't an Apple II. Some Googling revealed it was called Triazzle and it apparently came out in 1995 so you would have been around 4 years old when it was first released.
The old DOS/Windows machines did display green/white text on a black screen while booting up, and they did take a while to do so. And many of the "new" Power Macs still had the old "look" of the Apple II. Perhaps your kindergarten self mis-remembered the type of computer?
Given that Anita Sarkeesian looks exactly like Ms.PacMan, I can only assume she's his raunchiest fetish.
Also, yeah, Pandemonium's Nikki got older and turned into a sex bomb.
They don't mention that her male counterpart, Fargus, went from Lovable goofy court jester to deranged psychopathic lunatic, as if that's a 'positive role model'
Oh my god I think it is this http://www.old-games.com/download/3310/m-a-t-h-s We had it on our old computers as an educational game. If it is a recreational game more for fun than education then let me know and I'll venture deeper into my memory :p
The first one is much funnier, IMO. Also way harder. The puzzles are not at all intuitive.
I think it's abandonware now, because I just found this: http://www.old-games.com/download/1287/discworld. It'll probably be a nightmare to run, but they have an 'easy set-up' download, top-right of the screen
If you're really desperate, you can check out http://www.old-games.com/games/strategy
Their strategy section has 1290 titles so there is a good chance it might be in there somewhere. I think all the games have screenshots too. It helped me to find a game I was looking for a couple of months back.
Pretty certain you are thinking of 1996's Jetfighter 3.
Walking around on that carrier is the sort of immersion and soul modern flight Sims just don't even bother to attempt anymore.
This thread makes me feel really old, if this is what you guys think are old PC games.
What about Leisure Suit Larry? King's Quest? All those old Sierra games.
I also loved Countdown
IMO no. Imp2 tried to change a bunch of things, and IMO didn't capture the same essence of the first:
Imperialism 1 works because it's simple on the surface and has great depth below. Imp2 is annoying on the surface, complicated in design, and ultimately doesn't offer the same experience. The only thing Imp2 did better than Imp1 was provide actual multiplayer support - the whole reason our Imp1 remake exists.
Anyone ever play Captain Goodnight? Somehow I doubt it, as it isn't here already and I don't think I've ever heard it mentioned, on reddit or elsewhere. But I used to play it back on my AppleIIe.
It was a sidescroller. You were the titular captain, and you flew your futuristic jet plane across the hostile tirane, trying to get to Dr. Wiley. Enemy planes were flying at you from the right side at the screen. They shot missiles at you while installations and ships shot them from below. You controlled your plane by going up and down and firing back. One thing I remember is you could periodically get into other vehicles. Oh what fun it was to drive the sub or tank. And there was no real sountrack. Just an occassional tht-tht-tht and other 8 bit sound effects. Now you'll have to excuse me, but I'm off to search for some way of playing it now.
I learned how to type properly in school. I don't remember what the software was, but it was about as basic as it gets.
The trick for me was to just keep practicing even while not using the software. Whenever I caught myself typing a word with the wrong fingers, I would delete the word, and retype it properly.
Also, I recommend this program, not really a teacher, but good for practice :)

If you want, the full version from Maxis is downloadable from here. That version is slightly different, and I find it more fun. Unfortunately, it hogs my cpu and could not find a workaround.
Much love to you, Ali-Sama! I'm not entering, but I thank you for you choice of game to play forward. This morning I acquired a copy to play forward next week, and was saddened to see that someone had beaten me to it. :P
The developer made one of my favourite free games, Escape to Jaberwock. Also in the bullet-hell genre, but with zelda-style dungeoneering.

Huh. You're right. There's only one game that came to mind when I thought of Korean War games, and that's the 1999-vintage MiG Alley combat flight sim.
The real purple weared by ancient romans was this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Justinian.jpg In latin it was called purpura and in italian language it is still called porpora today (or better, rosso porpora "red purple").
However in english language, purple refers to a completely different colour, which is often associated with the bishop of Canterbury for example: http://www.catholicnews.org.uk/var/storage/images/catholic-news/catholic-news-media-library/images/bishops-and-clergy/archbishop-justin-welby-of-canterbury/archbishop-welby-canterbury-addresses-pope-francis/268639-1-eng-GB/Archbishop-Welby-Canterb...
Previous EU games had Byzantium coloured like this, which is plain wrong: http://www.old-games.com/screenshot/6681-7-europa-universalis-2.jpg Other games, like the Total War series, often do the same mistake.
I think I have the full version. I just googled it and it wasn't hard to find. I promise I'll take a look when I'm back home and send it to you.
That said, I first found the game on a CD-Rom that a friend had. That cd is long since gone and I'm not sure the version I found is 100% the same, as I don't recall getting the integer overflow bug I mentioned earlier on that... then again, I was in primary school at the time so maybe I just didn't play it enough.
FYI I installed a win98 virtual machine and I still get the integer overflow error as I remembered all those years ago on a physical win98 computer. If you know anything about that let me know.
I still love the period when games got great polygon counts but had not yet gotten texture maps.
That old flight sim su27 looked so interesting.
Found it. http://www.old-games.com/download/8350/su-27-flanker
I've gotten multiple games off of old-games.com. I think it's worth paying the $6 for a "day pass" and download as many as you like. I originally got Mechwarrior II off of here, and it works quite well!
If all else fails, I think I might have ISOs of Vengeance and the Black Knight expansion floating around somewhere.
Zoo Keeper: clean up trash in animal habitats, give them the correct plants and food, hunt down the monster bad guys dirtying up the habitats and put them in jail.
I used to play rock manager http://www.old-games.com/download/6885/rock-manager it sounds like what you describe as the last level is going on a world tour but it's might be a bit older so not so sure
Star Trek: TNG A Final Unity on PC from the 90s. Fantastic game. It had all of the cast from the show voice their respective characters. I highly recommend it. http://www.old-games.com/download/6001/star-trek-the-next-generation
Not sure if this is what you're talking about but this thread has helped me find this game from my childhood :)
Hope it is the game you're talking about!
> game based in Norse Mythology
I remember having a lot of fun with Saga: rage of the vikings on twilight 037 when I was little!
Maybe a bit of outdated (damn it's from 1998): link
I also love KA, and downloaded a version a few months back that works just fine with Windows 10. Can't remember the site of the top of my head but it wasn't GoG.
I haven't played the campaigns or watched the cut scenes though. Just use it for the Quick Battle simulator. Endlessly entertaining!
Edit: Found it. Link
Just tried it on my own PC, doesn't work, sorry for that. I did find this one though: Jezzball and it works perfectly. Just make sure to install the Easy Setup Version.
Thank you to you too! In looking some things up for this conversation I discovered that the PC game released in '97 contained additional footage. Whether the game is any good or not I still find that pretty cool.

I was so ecstatic that it was only $30 (I think new PC games were $50 back then) that I asked the bewildered Walmart electronics department attendant if this was an add-on or a standalone game and he just stared at me. I played the absolute hell out of that game
I've been flying for a long time, CMDR. Been using thrustmasters since F/A-18 Hornet. But I get better results out of a controller these days. The only real advantage to HOTAS is being able to "stay" your rotation easier because you have your whole arm placing the stick. But I am quite good with analog thumbsticks now so it's not a real issue anymore. And I WILL say I miss the throttle when I am go completely controller-only (Sometimes I use both). Being able to set it into the sweet spot without looking is wonderful.
I would love to see one in the future with real-time electromechanical detents for the sweet spot in Elite Dangerous. I know it will never happen, but I can dream!
It honestly sound exactly like the old 1997 Magic: the Gathering PC game. You can find it for download, along with some screenshots, here.
To avoid needless bumping of the question I'll just link here: The distinctive 3/4 view of the city, the cross roads, the buildings opposite of the view, buildings belonging in pre-assigned locations, etc. Also, one of the civilizations you can play is Mesopotamia.
This probably isn't it but your post reminded me of an old math computer game that I used to play when I was a kid, it's called Adventures in Math. This website has lots of old games on it, I didn't see any that fit your description perfectly, but maybe something here will look familiar to you. http://www.old-games.com/download/3234/adventures-in-math
If you don't mind the interface, there are some nice pieces of abandonware, like Business Simulator or What they don't teach you at Harvard Business School
Some of the models are from the 3D Warehouse. Some I made in Blender. The lighting was partly free models and partly my enhancements (light cookies, emissive globes, etc).
Lighting is prebaked realtime GI.
I plan to make the art into puzzles like from Pandora's Box (http://www.old-games.com/download/6432/pandora-s-box).
Microsoft Entertainment Pack puzzle games on the old family computer with a glass screen. I also spent many hours back in the day going through the maze game on the Encarta disc :)
The license on those older games are expired, so its perfectly legal to download them. http://www.old-games.com/download/4621/f1-manager-2000
That site lists a number of other GP management sims. Think it would be a perfect type of game. Every F1 fan wants to manage a team and see how good they can do, and its not extremely complex, does not.require fast reflexs either.
Did it have a real-time mode where you were able to control units? There's for example
Axis and Allies http://www.old-games.com/download/6209/axis-allies
or
Aggression: Europe under Fire http://store.steampowered.com/app/289580
If it doesn't have a real-time mode for battles, I don't know.
