No one actually trusts these people anymore right?
For an example of their "management" skills, a timeline of MWO development.
Do not give this company one cent until you see a viable product.
Solaris uses divisions to rate and separate mechs for matchmaking. Here is an old list of the divisions that I found: https://mwomercs.com/s7-mech-divisions
I have no idea if that list is still current. Solaris is unpopular and depreciated with little player or developer attention, so I would not at all be surprised if the developer failed to add Timber Wolf BH variant to a Solaris division.
I'd avoid asking Microsoft, your best bet is one of three ways:
1) Use the source code from Mechcommander 2, which is freely available. This is the best option. According to Andy Glaister, who was development manager at Microsoft Game Studios, it uses the exact same game engine (GameOS) as Mechwarrior 4. In addition to the assets included with MC2, you can also use the existing MW4 assets once you extract them. The only thing here is you'd have to rebuild the game up from scratch to match Mechwarrior 4 in look and feel.
2) decompile the existing Mechwarrior 4 executables. Not 100% efficient and there'd be a lot of cleanup/things missing but a lot of commercial games have had this done to improve compatibility with modern hardware. The only other issue with this is that old source code gets a little trickier to understand as time goes by, worse if it's decompiled.
3) extract all the game assets and just create a new game in Unity/unreal from scratch. But have it as a 'mod' by checking that a copy of the original game is installed on their PC.
Getting the direct source code of MW4 from Microsoft would be like tooth extraction at this stage. Whether it even exists or not is another thing altogether.
This Mod has now been posted to Moddb! WOO :D
My CPU struggled with the frame-rate during recording in Dosbox, it was pretty jerky to play hence why my aiming was so off (in all honesty, I'm actually really, really, really, amazingly bad at it, lol). As usual, MW2 runs better without the recording on. Youtube made mincemeat of the video quality but this will give you an idea of what the in-game graphics look like in fullscreen, with the mod running and with Dosbox configured correctly.
The mercenary collection (deluxe+all DLC+season pass) is $26 on Green Man Gaming.

Did you install from this site?
http://www.myabandonware.com/game/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries-3ak
The mtx version gets all fucked up sometimes and some antivirus software even quarantines their MW4.exe. I installed from abandonware and haven't had any problems aside from the resolution on widescreens.
LRMS have been useless since they nefed them in beta. Unless they added a bunch of maps in the last year, none of them have any decent area. Hardly any movement is possible as they are all intended to force close in combat. It is very telling that almost all matches have everyone rush forward as the long range weapons are little if any threat.

http://www.myabandonware.com/game/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries-3ak
Runs fine on my win7 machine but the resolution gets stretched due to my screen size, I haven't figured out how to run it in windowed mode or a native resolution.
have you ever used dosbox? its available for android.
i personally have heh, Master of magic, master of orion, red alert and ufo installed on my tablet, that is kind of old, work fine.
using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bruenor.magicbox.free&hl=en
can plug in a otg or bluetooth mouse to play or keyboard, just about anything.
there are many versions of dosbox available for free too, but i found none of them ran well enough for my old samsung tablet. (there are a bunch of technologies that some of these use that speed things up, that are sometimes not available in the free versions)
edit: https://i.imgur.com/1xnxWjw.jpg
using samsung tab A from 2016 and these run fine.
Someone PM'ed me about wanting rips of the Cyberstorm discs. If anyone else wants them, you can grab them here:
There's repair tools for each pack listed on Moddb. Here are the links:
MW4: Clan Mech Pack Repair Tool
Given how sketchy Win 10 has been with the MW4/MW3 games of late, if these don't work, I'm afraid you're on your own.
There's actually some mod tools available now! a few things have been made since they were released but nothing that would let you play as a vehicle unfortunately.
There are the tools at the Moddb board for mechwarrior mercs. There is also the most recent MW4 mod Solaris Master Trials from march.
www.moddb.com/games/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries/downloads/highlands-solaris-master-trials
So there is still some modding going on
I dont know if this is exactly what you want, but if you just want to do custom poses and weapon setups on mechs you can use this guide for converting MWO game models into blender files and doing that. https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/85411-how-to-create-your-own-art-using-pgis-mechs/
On a GTX 1070 TI myself, but this worked for me
https://www.moddb.com/games/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries/downloads/star-league-cache-mechwarrior-4-mod-tools The MW4 EXTRACTOR you recieve in this download can pull out any and all files from the RESOURCE folder (Mechs, sounds, animations, menus, scripting, etc) in the MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, Black Knight, Mercenaries, AND MekTek 3.1c Mercenaries. If you went about and did some digging you could easily find what you're looking for, as I've modified the files in question myself, for personal use.

The Mechcommander 2 source code would be better. The engine and graphics are more up to date than MW4. The only thing it doesn't have optimized is its draw distance (if you were wanting to use it for first person view) and the mech models are less detailed than MW4. It's worth looking into

It's old and need you to do some slight coding, but it works and has a few videos to walk ya through it. Only thing I haven't figured out yet are getting texture sheets. But you don't really need them for 3d prints you're gonna be painting anyway.
Don't know about MW4, but I happened to find a way to get MWO models.
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/85411-how-to-create-your-own-art-using-pgis-mechs/
It's a bit of a process to do though and I haven't done much with it yet as I just confirmed this works today. But it does work and Iv been able to access full 3d models for all mechs Iv tested so far. Biggest problems so far is that there's no rigging, each weapon also needs to be converted to fill slots, and I don't know where texture sheets are.
I am trying to find the MWO Forum post that mentioned that she and the NGNG staff were let go. (This is it: https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/276312-f/ )
Also, if you use the MW5 Discord, Tina's account no longer has any tags to it, which would probably mean she's not there.
Lastly, just search for her and a few other Piranha studio people and you'll notice a few of them posted they stopped working there this month. Was it an end of contract or for restructuring.
In any case, hopefully we get some news about the future on this 'AMA' today.
I was gonna say someone probably made some for MWO and then I was curious and I found the following thread, not complete, but seems pretty good. https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/150244-gallery-of-cockpit-views/
Dec 10
If its like the beta, it could very well be 12pm PST
Theres not much difference, you get fluff materials with the deluxe like mech stat books, sound track, art, etc
Yes you can coop with up to three other friends. Dunno how thats gonna work as far as customizing mechs goes, whose inventory you use, can only the host customize mechs since its all his inventory?, if everyone gets salvage or just the host, etc
There are a buttload. Here's a list: https://mwomercs.com/news/2019/11/2357-mw5-mech-sale-challenges
It stretches from the year 3015 to 3049. No one knows a thing about the story. If its like battletech (and I bet it is judging by the size of the star map), its probably a sizable campaign so long as you don't blitz the story missions as soon as you can.
In this image the griffin is significantly taller than the thunderbolt, but that isn’t necessarily wrong. Canon heights of BattleMechs are hard to come by and are contradicted often even in original novels.
This post sheds some light on the situation. They mention thunderbolt being 12m tall, but I didn’t see the griffin explicitly called out. The Bushwacker (also 55 ton IS) is a mere 8m while the wolfhound at 35 tons is 11m. So weight class doesn’t always denote height.
Yup. All these programs are based on the Windows Speech Recognition engine. Here's a web page I found that has several alternatives to VoiceAttack:
https://alternativeto.net/software/voiceattack/
And that probably isn't all of the voice control programs that exist, either.
Only vanilla MechWarrior 2 (and NetMech) was ever ported to it, and you could have trouble installing it on a newer version of the Mac OS. Your best shot is using Boot Camp or run a Windows virtual machine.
Yeah I got MW3 working in 2009 and had to fight through about 5-6 serious bugs to get it all working. At the time I posted everything I'd had to do on Mechwarrior3.org, where there was already an extensive list of all of MW3's problems and resolutions.
I figured I'd be able to refer back to it in future years, but unfortunately the website went down after the admin died. Some of the fixes I used were weird shit like changing DirectSound settings...
You can get patch 1.2 here as MW3V12.exe: http://www.sarna.net/files/programs/games/mechwarrior_3/patches/
MWLoader was a patch to fix a Targeting Reticle crash bug I believe, it was made by eaterofpies and I think hosted on mech3.org, I've uploaded a copy of 0.05 to here: http://www.filedropper.com/mw3loader005
Regarding the bouncing vehicles - I believe that's due to modern GPU's having too much power as dumb as it sounds, I have a vague memory I had to do something dodgey with an Nvidia profile to make it go slower.
I've gotten multiple games off of old-games.com. I think it's worth paying the $6 for a "day pass" and download as many as you like. I originally got Mechwarrior II off of here, and it works quite well!
If all else fails, I think I might have ISOs of Vengeance and the Black Knight expansion floating around somewhere.
if you want to modify the game files you can use the MW4eXtractor tool in the pack here to open the .mw4 files in the RESOURCE folder and get to all the important stuff... im not sure how to modify the default weapon slot sizes though
I am on Windows 7 64 bit as well, I wish I could help troubleshoot but I really can't. I will show you how I got my game running, though.
http://www.myabandonware.com/game/mechwarrior-4-mercenaries-3ak
This is my copy of the game, you don't have to play with the mtx extractor or whatever, just extract from the rar. I'm running the exe as administrator and in compatibility with Windows XP.
I have been trying to use this torrent instead. I'm still downloading it myself so idk if there is some problem with it but there are some seeds. I'll update if I meet success. https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5043097/MechWarrior_4_Vengeance___Black_Knight___Mech_Paks
Edit: got this working fine except that it crashes whenever I open mechlab. Works fine otherwise, can play campaign. One problem falls, another arises.
I've had success using Evolve (https://www.evolvehq.com/client) to connect and then using the IP address Evolve assigns to the host computer. LAN may also work this way.
Evolve is similar to Hamachi though, so it might run into some of the same problems. It's probably worth a shot though.
Gameranger (http://www.gameranger.com) is also known to work with MW4.
I've been an avid reader of the Battletech books and played through all the MW games on PC, along with the Mech Assault 1&2 on Xbox. I wanted to try out the tabletop game myself so I recently purchased the Beginner's Box. Check it out. There are a lot of expansions to the tabletop game with more mechs and scenarios.
Battletech Beginner's Box - Amazon
I've been using an oasis for E:D with Roccat Power-Grid. You just use a tablet as the interface by installing the sister android app on your tablet and you get a nice easy oasis touchscreen.
If you've got some GIMP/PS skills, you can fully customize the artwork for the grid and the buttons to give it a nice MW5 skin.
Yep, there was a Mech Assault game called "Mech Assault Phantom War" for the Nintendo DS.
Here's a link to the Amazon page: https://www.amazon.com/Mech-Assault-Phantom-War-Nintendo-DS/dp/B000E4FD9U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500670091&sr=8-1&keywords=mechassault+ds
It looks like you may be able to use an app like Tincore Mapper to map controller buttons to keyboard ones. At which point, You may be able to set up dosbox on a computer and just transfer the files over to make it easier. I've got some dosboxes set up with all the Mechwarrior 2 era games and DLCs so I'll try this out on my tablet one of these days.
