It's a lot of areas of law within the context of games, with trademarks certainly being my main component. As for how I got into this industry, I got caught up a bit in the Candy Crush debacle and just kind of stayed. I've been a gamer forever, and am lucky to be doing something I love. Can read about the Candy Crush stuff here: http://www.gamefront.com/king-candys-attempt-at-crushing-the-saga-trademark/
Correct, you only need to do a DRM check every time you start the game (just like Steam, guys). So if you lose internet connection while playing, you're not booted out.
However, from the descriptions of the game, the world is "always online," sort of like an MMO; you're sharing the world with other players. The town next to yours might (will?) be another player, and your cities affect each-other. While this sounds pretty awesome, I'm disappointed there is no true "single player" mode. Because of this, you can never just save a city, wreck it for fun and then load your save. Your city is persistent from what I understand.
Here you go. I already converted it to a vtf for you so it should work without any problems. Also here is a preview
The story of Diablo 3 has received a lot of criticism for both its actual content and writing and for its presentation (e.g. intrusive cutscenes and linear "on rails" progression). I love the game, but must admit some heavy disappointment when it came to furthering and enriching the lore of the Diablo universe.
What lessons have you learned from the backlash that you plan to apply to D3's expansions or further games in the franchise (or even other Blizzard titles)?
DICE Suspends Work On All DLC, Other Projects Until BF4 Is Fixed
That might have something to do with it.
This was a massive problem for the developers of Titan Quest, from what I can remember. Several of the copy protection methods happened a few minutes into the game, leading to crashing when you enter certain caves, etc.
Several reviews mentioned these crashes which caused a lack of sales, apparently. Quite unfortunate.
Edit for source: THQ CEO blames piracy for close of Titan Quest developer.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I really like the menu we got in Halo 5.
It has a beautiful simplicity to it. The Infinity literally doesnn't move an inch - everything moves around it.
Halo Reach had the best menu though!
Will possibly be creating a de or cs version at a later stage!

Given the incidents of MechWarrior Online devs turning hostile towards their users and going back on their word about game mechanics, I'll be treating any crowd funding that they want to do with extreme scepticism.
>Bioware, Mythic, Blizzard -- all companies that are basically dead shells of what they once were.
Blizzard is actually pretty autonomous from its publisher. Likewise with Bioware, not sure about Mythic.
EDIT: Since people are disputing this:
Blizzard defends Activision, says "We were convinced that they did and that they were doing this for the right reasons, that the two businesses were complementary and that we wouldn’t be giving up our creative autonomy in any way. And that’s exactly how it’s panned out."
Screw Duck Dynasty and Honey Boo Boo. Someone give Billy Mitchell his own reality show and I'd watch. Then again, a 40" flat screen is too small to contain this man's massive ego. Producers of Skyfall, listen up: Billy Mitchell was born to play a Bond villain.
007 must foil Mitchell's diabolical plan to discredit all comers and keep the Donkey Kong high score all for himself.
I'm going to have to disagree on this one. While a lot can be said for the gameplay of Binding of Isaacs, the story felt like a short pseudo-intellectual masturbation session. It doesn't help that this article's explanation for everything is Isaac's slackening grip on reality.
I think "Main character losing their perception of reality" is the deus ex machina of in depth synopsis to video games (or even similar mediums). It literally can be applied to any game, in almost any context and you'd be able to make an argument out of it.
Reference this or this and you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
The same explanation was used to justify the ending of Mass Effect 3 with the indoctrination theory, which I believe has been mostly discredited as of late.
To summarize, I think that BoI is a very fun take on the classic roguelike formula. However, if you're sifting through poop humor in hopes of gleaning some hidden meaning behind it all, the joke is on you, cause you're sifting through poop.
I saw this earlier, and I wasn't going to post.
I just got off the phone with my good friend, the brother of the guy who was killed. I also knew the victim, though not as well.
My friend, the man killed was not committing suicide.
There was a transient playing or dancing on the tracks. Phil tried to talk him out of it, but the guy kept fucking around. As the train approached, Phil tried to knock the man off the tracks. That's why he died. He died because some transient, probably either an addict or mentally ill, was playing on the fucking tracks, and our friend tried to save him. The transient survived.
If you get a chance to post on that FB page, you remind whoever that is that they believe in a god who would take the life of a man for trying to save someone who was probably incapable of helping themselves, or maybe someone so messed up he was going to take his own life. Ask how he feels about that god sending people to help him save some time, but let our friend, a fucking hero die on a fucking train platform.
Fuck that. Fuck everything about it. I'm sorry for the vitriol, but I am sick right now.

Just think .. if enough people petition Dice to add a dinosaur DLC we could be getting this kinda gameplay with BF3 level graphics.
UPDATE (For history & facts on BF3 dino addon):
For the few who don't know what I am talking about 4chan joked around with activision to put more dinos in their CoD game long ago. Here is a link to that original discussion
So as a joke in BF3 (to 1 up the CoD competition) they showed pictures hinting at possibility of a "Tyransararus Warfare Pack". Which obviously wasn't real. However, just recently they mentioned (perhaps jokingly or not) that if enough people express legitimate interest in this idea they will consider making a dino addon for BF3... so this "could" be real folks!
Gamefront does a decent job outlining why the ending sucked.
http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-ending-hatred-5-reasons-the-fans-are-right/
The ending doesn't make sense, it makes no sense in the context of the game, it makes no sense rationally. Good literature is still rational, no matter how much symbolism you pack into your writing.
It also contradicts every precedent established in the game, by Shepard not arguing with the very poorly implemented DEUS EX MACHINA, he just takes the 3 options for granted, despite the very nonsensical explanations given to us. Then the 3 choices, which don't make much sense either!
How does destroying an energy conduit with a gun, facilitate a process to destroys all Reapers?
Why does Shepard need to stand 3 meters in front of that soon to explode energy conduit? He was hitting it already from much further behind, getting any closer does nothing in terms of the damage the gun does.
How does controlling the Reapers disintegrate your body? What process is that?
Why does Synthesis also require a human sacrifice, why does this process need a whole human body? And why not one of the dead bodies that are lying around in the millions below?
Those processes make as much sense as Jesus dying for our sins on the cross, they are nonsensical and irrational.
The symbolism of self sacrifice only makes sense if it is due to circumstances that require the protagonists sacrifice. Not if you create a convoluted process that arbitrarily demands the life of the one facilitating it.
> Did somebody just take a screen shot from Turok and put a BF3 on it, or was it tweeted by a dice developer at some point?
A dice developer made this picture for fun, but that was way after the meme started
This is the 4chan thread that is usually credited for instigating the meme/demand
One of the things to keep in mind is that this game had a hellish development for most of the last few years, due mainly to Mark Kern heading the project.
The guy is quite possibly one of the most immature and egomanical people to come out of the industry in recent years, what with spending literal millions of dollars meant for development of Firefall instead on a flight of fancy viral YouTube media division of the company and almost never owning up to the actual responsibility of being a leader. This article goes into full details about it:
http://www.gamefront.com/no-win-situation-the-troubled-history-of-firefall-and-red-5-studios-part-1/
I'm hoping that now he's out of the picture, they were able to put together something at least worthwhile. Either way, I'll probably try it out tomorrow and see what it's like at this stage.
Unreal Tournament (1999) is still my favorite game ever. I miss it. I miss the community. First game I made real-life friends through.

The music is the same MIDI as the original PC release, so I don't think Iwilmer549 is going to mind, and it isn't garbled..
You do NOT have to be online. Saves will go locally when not online.
EDIT: Apparently the MIDIs are now recordings of the originals so your sound card will not change the way they sound. Also if anyone's interested, PSX Soundtrack all you need to do is download, copy and replace in the folder with the OGG files. It takes about 3 minutes total to fix this sound problem.

Thanks, Jackist.
Currently to me it's just a temporary roguelike FPS where you roll the dice for a weapon.. and then run straight back to where you spawned in hopes of some player interaction. Typically I don't care if I die by the end of the night.. and it makes the experience all so brief.
I'm not even sure vehicles/tents will fill this hole that I see DayZ having. And I'm pretty sure the engine can't handle legit base building/base raiding that would extend the gameplay. ( Multiple articles about how they would need to make instanced underground bases instead and only allow barricading doors above ground: here and here. )
And the way you can hop between servers and aren't really accountable for anything makes the interactions kind of limited. You're either gonna get held up, shot, or find a friendly guy.. and if you don't add each other to steam, you're never gonna see each other again.. so you're not going to create some kind of playermade city that eventually goes to war and negotiates for peace.. You're just gonna roam the coast looking for guns and getting rotten fruit shoved down your throat.
http://www.gamefront.com/mechwarrior-online-forum-ragesplosion/
Pay money to circumvent skill. Eventually undermines the entire metagame of what is skillful and creates a gulf between whales and members greater than members vs froobs. Let alone the disruption of whales vs free players power difference.
In a nutshell, it's pure pay to win. The only balancing factor is the amount of "winning" you can buy. I was happy with 0. Completely negating entire features (concussion immunity, sensor immunity, stealth immunity, etc) is definitely non-trivial.
We are looking at getting a very bad system shoved down our throats.
Here's another version. I did my best to complete the head. It is a TGA file. Preview #1 Preview #2
Some of the people arguing for a female character don't seem to understand that the co-op does not feature different characters. You play as the main guy no matter what, the other players just see you as a generic assassin, much like Watch_dogs you and the other players see themselves as Aiden while you see others as generic people. I guess they could have made some of the other players appear as a generic girl assassin but you probably would never notice anyways, and that player wouldn't even know they were a girl since they'd still be playing as the main character.
Here's a further explanation from Ubisoft.
>Plich clarified further that the co-op characters aren’t customizable player avatars, but simply variations on AC:U main character Arno. “Everybody was saying, ‘You made four characters and weren’t able to make even one female character?’ ” he said, explaining that like Watch_Dogs, players will never see what their characters look like to others in co-op play. The gameplay will account for multiple players but the story will not be affected in any way. http://www.gamefront.com/assassins-creed-unity-devs-truly-didnt-see-controversy-coming/

Your computer acts as a thin client, displaying what's going on and taking input. All the game logic takes place on the Mojang server. This isn't like traditional DRM which locks down software and data on your computer. Most of the actual game exists somewhere else.
Notch, who has made millions from a DRM free game, probably hasn't set things up this way because he's scared his customers are going to start pirating. It's clear to me that the game depends on the integrity of its card system and he doesn't things ruined by a few counterfeiters.

Made by PGI. Cash grabbing tools that botched MW:O.
They are considering basic game play mechanics stretch goals.
They delete any and all forum content that is critical of them, and ban users for posting critical content ANYWHERE, not just in their forums.
The official subreddit is moderated by PGI employees, against reddiquette, using the same banhammer in point 3.
Attempting to contradict Jim Sterling is a popular thing low-level internet trolls do, regardless of what it is he's writing. Today it looks like that particular person is trying -and miserably failing - to parody Jim's recent GameFront article about misandry.
From what I understand the CEO of Red 5 was completely indecisive and an utter dick. In forum post written by one of the developers they mentioned that the CEO would ask for a certain feature to be implemented, then leave for weeks at a time. This would mean that the developers implementing the feature would have to take certain liberties with the way the feature got worked in. The CEO would come back, say it was implemented wrong and that he wanted it this way, then leave again.
It honestly sounded like a cluster fuck. And after reading that post it makes a lot of sense at to why firefall didn't do so well.
Here's an article about the ridiculousness that went on ad Red 5. But it's not what I remember reading initially.
If it's any consolation to OR fans, when asked about the changes, SWTOR's developers have said Disney and Lucas haven't said no to it being canon. Instead they've said it's irrelevant, which is in any meaningful way true to begin with re:the events of the films.
It's also incorrect. Civ V was never intended to be a console game.
http://www.gamefront.com/civilization-v-will-never-be-seen-on-consoles/
http://www.vg247.com/2010/07/09/interview-civilization-vs-dennis-shirk/
My guess is that he's using quite a bit of confirmation bias to fit that narrative, but there's never been any real proof to support that theory. It's actually disheartening to me to see his post get upvoted and getting the "thanks for enlightening me" kind of posts, when I feel like /r/truegaming should be a little better than the typical hivemind "console games are ruining everything" mindset. It's far more likely that they simply designed certain UI elements in a way that happens to bother certain people, which happens all of the time in software development, even if we're not talking about video games (and thus consoles would have nothing to do with anything). UI theory is complex stuff and sometimes people just don't get it completely right.
I posted this article elsewhere in the thread. It's pretty good but apparently things have gotten even worse since this was written.
It really reads like a "How Not to Launch a Game" guide, because PGI messed everything up. It's really the antithesis to Star Citizen.
I'm not sure yet, but they alluded to dating the grim during one of the live streams.

Oculus drove me away by claiming they wouldn't sell out and then selling to a company that I just don't trust - that's when I subscribed here and unsubscribed there. I believed in Oculus to the point that I Kickstarted - Palmer betrayed us.

It shouldn't be surprising that Oculus is once again driving a wedge in the VR enthusiast community. Please don't ask that we pretend to ignore the source of the disharmony.

Gamefront gave it a 92/100, and that is from a guy who understands it's a survival horror game that doesn't rely on guns.
Before you go ahead and doubt level cap increases, here is a quote from Mike O'Brien from November 27th 2012:
Mike O’Brien wrote:

For Those Wondering how to install Desert Combat here is a quick tutorial Go to: http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Battlefield_1942/Modifications/Total_Conversions/Desert_Combat
Download both
Desert Combat Mod v0.7 Full
And
Desert Combat Final Client
You must run v.07 Full first. When installing change the directory from the default one to C:.../Program Files/Origin Games/Battlefield1942
and then install
Do the same for DC_Final (Sam Folder)
Now launch 1942 through Origin
Then go into Custom Games, you should see two new games 0.7 and Final (0.8) click on (0.8)
This will load up Desert Combat
Now go to Multiplay then Internet
On the right hand side you will see an arrow under custom game, click 0.8 final and hit update, it will load all the servers for Desert Combat only, if you do not click 0.8 in the filter it will show all game servers for Vanilla 1942 and Desert Combat. Any questions feel free to ask them
A recent study by the University of Toronto found that the differences between male and female spatial ability are reduced below statistical significance after experience with video games which require spatial ability. This was shown despite outliers in the male test group who continued to play and develop their spatial ability after the study. These results, alongside the radical improvement of the female test subjects (as compared to the improvement of the male test subjects) seems to suggest an environmental cause for spatial differences.
He was clever enough to use a screenshot that doesn't have the date.
For those who haven't followed Minecraft development for long, this tweet was from January 11.
Here's one of the many articles published at the time. It was pretty big news then.
Are you playing on PC? If so, or if you can get it on PC, you should use TSLRCM, the restored content mod, first off. The game is incomplete and buggy without it, and most players consider it an absolute necessity.
Second, some of the gameplay effects are broken in KOTOR 2, like AI using advanced abilities (give them Advanced Flurry, half the time they'll use regular Flurry over it). You can fix this if you're on PC and use the Improved AI mod.
Third, as opposed to the original KOTOR, skills actually matter in KOTOR 2--thankfully you also get more skill points per level than you did in the original, but it's something to keep an eye out for. Additionally, like the HK dialogue in KOTOR 1 locked behind skills, there are some companion/NPC dialogues which can reward major experience points and other bonuses which are locked behind skill points. For this reason I always play as a 14-INT Sentinel and cross-class my two non-class skills with my first two feats. This isn't optimal in terms of gameplay, but it does unlock more of the story.
Fourth, companion opinions exist in KOTOR 2, and they matter. If you get full negative or full positive opinion with any companion, you'll unlock... special bonuses. Some of it is just dialogue, some other stuff you should find out on your own. Be conscious of what your companions like, and plan around it.
The terrible laughtrack-sitcom writing. The avalanche (and I do mean avalanche, I almost want to go back and replay it just to do a joke-per-minute count) of terrible one-liners, especially from characters that were previously never written to be naturally funny like Kaidan, Tali or Liara. The forced humor by other characters who ARE naturally funny, like Garrus, who are suddenly cracking the same low quality one-liners as everyone else. The overall slapstick feel of the entire thing, which was so out of place given the tone of the entire series even at its most humorous moments. I really kept expecting cartoon sound effects to pop up whenever you mow down the enemy henchmen by the dozen. The incredibly inane and shallow fan service that lacked any creativity or cleverness whatsoever. There are way too many examples of this for me to start listing them, but we're just clubbed over the head with things like some goon yelling "I THINK THAT'S ARCHANGEL!" (Was he really that famous? Even if he was, how could anyone possibly assume it's Archangel and not just a random Turian with a gun?)
"Admit it Commander; you're going to miss me." .. no, I really won't.
It had some high points, (how Thane is handled is fantastic, for instance) but overall I juuuuust hated it. I was so sure that everyone else would hate it that I was shocked to find out I'm in the minority.
I really enjoyed the Silversun Strip and both iterations of the party. If it was just those, I would have been fine with it. No need to shoehorn in a flimsy scheme about a Shepard clone with yet another evil PMC.
EDIT: A lot of my feelings regarding this DLC are summed up pretty well by this guy.

Gamefront has one, fairly spoiler-free:
I don't know if I'd call some of these games. Dear Esther is basically "Press forward, receive story."
The Stanley Parable does the same exact thing pretty much, but the game addresses player agency in an interesting way.
There's been plenty of articles and videos on it, such as this one.
The Dear Esther devs are also the jackasses who screwed up the Amnesia Sequel by removing most of the interesting gameplay elements and most of the challenge.
Feel free to read.

TL;DR. PGI lied and screwed over the community so the community at large bailed. I have no idea what the current situation is but last brief look I took at it's subreddit, things had gone from bad to worse.
The only thing you need to know about PGI is that they can release chargeable content like clockwork on a weekly basis but they can't fix a single bug that has been in the game since closed beta or release a new map the game desperately needs! They are 100% money focused and have little to no regard for the people playing the game! They'll sell you mech to play in but not give you a map to play on! They where incapable of handling the franchise and yes I am bitter they took my money and lied to me!
I tried doing some research, but according to both the Companions and Followers wikis, there are no "stealth" companions...
Can't seem to find anything else, sorry :(
Apparently Lydia is "an excellent thief" though she was never stealthy for me...

Unpack into your retroarch directory. Point Retroarch to one of the .cfg (there are three) files in the "overlay" settings.
To achieve the same look I have, in this particular screenshot I used the NESTopia core with BLARGG NTSC COMPOSITE filter turned on in Core Options then a single shader "crt-geom-curved.cg" with both options set to "don't care". Scaling is set to Integer in the video options with aspect ration set to "core provided".
That's a cool jumpsuit. I actually prefer it too the in-game stuff. Reading the title I was afraid you might have been walking around in something like this.
So is this article, http://www.gamefront.com/dice-suspends-work-on-all-dlc-other-projects-until-bf4-is-fixed/, and the several others that reported on the press release from EA, false? Was the press release false? From the release- "The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game."
If there was another team working on dlc they should have had them working on fixing the initial release too!
The game is still broken, but that's ok because EA has another team working hard to crank out that DLC!
I own Battlefield 4 and have enjoyed it for the most part, but I honestly feel I deserve a refund. The game still locks up and crashes consistently in multiplayer. I've yet to finish the single player campaign because the last time I tried playing it back in February my saves were still being deleted.
EA and DICE are liars and crooks, they released a game that still 6 months after launch is a broken piece of shit. Battlefield 4 is an embarrassment and EA and DICE are lucky they haven't gotten more shit than they have for releasing a sham of a game and doing the absolute minimum to get it to kinda work.
Gamespy is dying/dead, as is its sister site FilePlanet.
I'm not familiar with PlanetHalfLife specifically, but the decline of the Gamespy family of sites was more pronounced in the Morrowind community because of the number of mods that were hosted there (and the number of broken links to those mods that have appeared as a result, and the number of mods that had to be migrated over to other sites like MW Modding History).
Nothing wrong with that.
Diablo 3 is, by itself, a good game. It's not great, but it's not bad. The problem people have with it is that because of the radical change in development teams of Diablo 1 and 2 and the development team of Diablo 3, the games are almost nothing alike in style. This is also why it gets the "World of Diablocraft" complaint--it was developed by that team, not the Diablo one. As such, the setting may be the same but the games are not.
Again, the game isn't bad. It's fairly solid in fact. It just isn't the sequel for which fans of the original games were waiting.
The Witcher saga isn't like some series of books (looking at you, Mistborn) that caters to those who haven't read the previous books by reiterating what has happened and how things work in the world. You won't know who the hell most of the characters are if you start in the middle of the series. Get The Last Wish. Just do it. It's enjoyable, really. Then read Sword of Destiny. It's only available, right now, as a fan translation, but it's fine. I read it on my computer and enjoyed it just as much as The Last Wish.
Then the saga starts. Good news is that most are now available as official translations, with only Tower of the Swallow (my edit: http://www.gamefront.com/files/24591332/Tower+of+the+Swallow.7z) and The Lady of the Lake being excluded. My edit has plenty of options for you to chose from (ebook, pdf, word, doc). I'm doing the same with TLotL.
If you want to know why people, myself included, lost their shit when they saw Ciri and Yennefer in that trailer, then read the books. All of them. Though I'm not really a fan of the official translations and I think the books can drag, the characters shine in this series. Reading these books will give a higher level of understanding and provide a much more enjoyable experience with the games. Please, if you have the time, get the books, read them all, and replay the first two games. You've got two months.
>you can practically hear the fedora
Hurray I'm not the only one! That sea captain metaphor... did the magic bag of money make the tiller appear or was it a Popeye kind of situation where the money gave Kern enhanced strength so he could work the controls? We'll probably never know :/
Here's another article on the subject of Kern being an abusive shit.
http://www.gamefront.com/no-win-situation-the-troubled-history-of-firefall-and-red-5-studios-part-1/
You can click through to parts 2 and 3 at the end of each piece. Unless all these articles are citing the same people there's a pretty strong consensus out there that Kern is a nightmare to work with.
I wouldn't say there's a "community" to speak of, but there are a lot of people who have been mostly ignored for years (mostly journalists) who have tried to highlight the bullshit going on in games journalism.
Leigh Alexander made a list of ethical problems in games journalism. (Yes, I realize she is literally Satan to Gamergate for saying "gamers are dead" figuratively)
There was Jeff Gerstmann calling out the shit going on in Gamespot.
There was the Shadow of Mordor deal, which Gamergate barely touched on - except to claim that since TotalBiscuit was involved in exposing it, and TB supports Gamergate, Gamergate is somehow responsible for exposing it =P
There's the buttload of game journalists who have exposed arms companies' and the military's interest in FPS's - but that's barely been touched on by anyone.
That's just what I can remember. I'm sure there's more. I was actually talking to some game dev friends about this on twitter.
I agree with you that the current efforts aren't nearly enough... But I also don't see GG making the situation better in any way.
I thought about this topic for quite some time as well and came to a similar conclusion.
If I want news from a specific game (patch notes for Dwarf Fortress!) I follow the developer on Twitter.
If I want general gaming news I look at reddit/neogaf. They prefilter the individual developer news and post interesting stuff about games I don't care "that much" about.
I can get "live"-play from titles which aren't even released (a few hours before release most often) from twitch.
I can see gameplay on youtube, as well as indepth tutorials / tips / ...
Basically I can get my information faster from other sources than traditional media. Sure it's a bit worse written, but who cares?
There is one thing I used the traditional media for: well researched pieces. Stuff like this: Game Front Link (I think whitelist)? and this: archived Gamasutra. Sadly those kind of articles are rare today. Everything is short clickbait I don't care about.
Ok! Well my mod actually is a little more than just the Hindu crusade.
I've basically attempted to fix a bunch of things missing from Paradox's base crusades. These are:
I have fixed all these issues, as well as added a Hindu crusade (and a religious leader to call them). I've put all of this in the same mod, but if you only want the Hindu stuff, then just tell me because I can easily separate it.
Note: The AI of Jewish, Zoroastrian and Hindu rulers is very limited and does not know that their religious leaders need to be landed to call crusades. So I made an important decision that lands them for you automatically if you want them to call crusades. Alternatively you can just land them yourselves if you are playing as the appropriate religion.
Jewish and Zoroastrian rulers will of course first have to unlock their religious leaders with the Old Gods and Sons of Abraham decisions, Zunists and Aztecs will have to reform first. Hindu always exists
Anyway, here's the link
Black Ops 1 did, Black Ops 2 didn't, but offered different options, like FPS limiter, ingame fps counter, a much more optimized game, but it was shit.
Edit: here, http://www.gamefront.com/treyarch-quietly-launches-black-ops-mod-tools/
Dude, make it 480p, I give not one shit, I'll take it. Playing with my friends is fun. More fun than the extra 600p for sure.
(Plus if we're talking 480p per split screen, the reduction really isn't that much since when we tile it out for four players the game is really running in 960p)
IMO the best RTS game ever made. Can't wait to replay this classic. Apparently the rights to the RON franchise were purchased at an auction last December. I wonder if this means potential for a sequel?
Found it! Asked destiny at the stream chat and got quick answer
It's called mouse movement recorder.
Thank you very much!

>I can see how people don't buy into "conspiracy theories" like that
Conspiracy theory my ass. It's more like a well-known fact with numerous brouhahas exposing the truth.
The last reminder of the fact, even without any brouhaha is here:
>Reviewing Diablo 3 will be the single greatest challenge in my career as a gaming journalist to date. In fact, I’d go so far as to say I’m afraid of reviewing Diablo 3, and I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one. > >Putting aside personal bias will be an issue, of course — the emotional attachment I have for the Diablo series and for Blizzard as a developer could have been accurately characterized as “fanboyism” in the past. But that’s just the tip of an iceberg of concerns. Concerns about backlash from seething Blizzard fans, concerns about souring a professional relationship with Blizzard, concerns about negatively contributing to the game‘s success…
Right there... black on white.
Here's one <strong>full expose</strong> on the issue.
Here's an interesting listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3a2vJ0zIdA
>This is where my diplomacy runs into a wall: I don't believe Braid needs a 9/10.
I agree. I would give Braid a 6/10 score.
> I believe Max Payne 3 needs a 7/10 (even if it's perfect at what it tries to do) or lower.
Based on the information that I've been able to gather my score for Max Payne 3 is 4/10 for a $60 game. If the same exact game debuted with a $10 price tag, my score would shift to 7/10 just like yours. I would hit the game very heavily for its 10 hour campaign length in a $60 package. The multiplayer side of Max Payne 3 will be like Red Dead Redemption multi -- most people will fuck around with it for an our or two and never play it again.
It all comes down to time management. Evidently, the guy who was to review Mass Effect 2, which can last of dozens of hours, will have less other games to review, so he can finish his game and review it before the release.
I am sick and tired of people who pull this major Conspiracy-Keanus to criticize professional game reviewers for the sake of criticizing. You can argue that they have bad opinions, that they prioritize popular games, that they have a rotten rating system... but you can't argue that they are dishonest. They finish the games before they review them and they don't get bribed by publishers. Deal with it.
I tinkered a bit and was able to get it running.
Downloaded the package from here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20607507/df_31_25_osx.tar.bz2
Unpack the tarball, giving a folder called "df_osx"
Edit the "df" script in that folder, inserting these two lines just before the last line of the script:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="${PWD}/libs:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH="${PWD}/libs:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH"
This will cause the program to prefer use of the slibgcc and libstdc++ images provided in the libs directory over the normal ones.
Of course, there could still be problems, but at least it's running ; )
Here's a way to get steam version 1.0.4.0 from 1.0.7.0 (creds to someone else):
Worked like a charm for me! GFWL will ask if you want to update once you're in the game, but obviously you just need to press No. :) You also won't be able to play any expansion with this patch, so be prepared for that.
Why should I write about the article of Kuchera, when GameFront (archive) did an analysis of this at the end of 2012.
With a fitting conclusion:
> Rather than point to length as the problem without further thought, developers should analyze why gamers aren’t completing their game. [...] Treat the disease, not the symptom. The problem isn’t that players aren’t completing your games — it’s that your games aren’t making players want to complete them. We’re not saying that every game needs to be Skyrim, but every game should give your players a reason to stay glued to the screen for hours on end.
> Games are more like novels than like movies. They are entertainment mediums that require hours to complete and that the audience can progress through at a pace of their choosing. People call a good book “a real page-turner” when it is so compelling that the reader can’t wait to see what’s on the next page; good games follow that same philosophy — players can’t wait to see what happens next. And once you’ve so captivated a player, it doesn’t matter how long your campaign is.
http://www.gamefront.com/justin-carter-arrest-league-of-legends/
"The 19-year old New Braunfels, Texas man was arrested on March 20, after comments he posted to Facebook February 13, during an argument with other gamers, were reported to law enforcement authorities in Austin Texas. After being called “effing crazy” by another commenter, he said in response “I’m fucked in the head alright, I think I’ma SHOOT UP A KINDERGARTEN AND WATCH THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT RAIN DOWN AND EAT THE BEATING HEART OF ONE OF THEM.” His legal representation has characterized as this statement as “sarcastic”, and people previously speaking out on his behalf have repeatedly insisted he followed it up with “jk Lol”.
http://www.gamefront.com/battlefield-4-walkthrough/7/ for those wondering this level. Agreed! Would be a good rush map and conquest, domination and tdm also. Would be a nice infantry and maybe light vehicle map, like IFV and scout heli
rawinput on takes the reading from your mouse and puts it into a separate buffer which then passes it to the game. this might cause a tiny bit of input lag, but your mouse will be unaltered by your windows mouse settings, and will be unaffected by your game's fps and your sensitivity will be more consistent. but many people say valve's rawinput system is bugged and doesn't work correctly.
rawinput off links your mouse reports to your game's fps. your mouse will be a little more responsive, but if your fps fluctuates wildly, your sensitivity will be slightly less consistent. old versions of cs and other fps games used this method by default back in the day. this defaults your mouse to your windows settings in your control panel, and unfortunately windows' mouse system causes inaccurate movement on any mouse above 400 DPI, so it's also crappy.
there's also m_mousespeed which seems to put a slight filter on your mouse and can make it feel "fudgy", so I turn it off.
tl;dr:
valve's rawinput doesn't work correctly, don't use it.
rawinput off uses default windows mouse which sucks if your mouse is above 400 DPI
set m_mousespeed to 0 otherwise it adds a weird smoothing filter
download and install the MarkC mousefix which changes how windows handles your mouse accel.
http://donewmouseaccel.blogspot.com/2010/03/markc-windows-7-mouse-acceleration-fix.html
also download and run Rinput.exe
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20962032/...
to use, open the wrapper before you join a server and type in csgo.exe. it will then find csgo and inject the dll and the Rinput window will automatically close. then join a server.
Follow the instructions on here: http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-how-to-transfer-your-me-2-save-from-xbox-360-to-pc/ except the website in step 13 moved to: http://eplight.org/me2/
Worked for me back before ME3, haven't used it since so hopefully it still works.
Wasn't From Ashes also on-disc, and all the DLC was, was just a change in one line of code to unlock him?
Edit: Yes it was. Shove your downvotes up your ass.
A Copy from my recent post for you:
Any questions feel free to ask them
Perhaps these mod maps will suffice in the mean time:
Pre-DLC but gives you an idea ...
http://www.gamefront.com/mass-effect-3-multiplayer-item-pack-unlock-list/
General rule of thumb;
Once you've max'd out all uncommon (silver weapons) to rank X (10) from Veteran packs, move up to purchasing Spectre packs or PSP (Premium Spectre Packs). As for the new DLC drops, stick to Spectre & PSP exclusively. Don't forget to do Opertional Weekends, like this weekend's one.
If you plan on doing Gold often, you will be purchasing Jumpo Packs every so often, but remember they only contain supplies. If you want a particular item ~~(tough shit)~~, the rumor is deleting (locally) the all the multiplayer DLC except for the one you are looking for while purchasing PSP. It's still going to be RNG though. Your multiplayer Manifest on the BSN also tells you (not clearly) what pack to buy (by rarity).
I hadn't heard of that, but I know that they hired Adam Foster, the creator of the epic mod Minerva: Metastasis. Here's the full story, but if you want the rundown, they hired him due to his amazing map-making skills. After being hired, he worked on Portal 2, and then has seemingly been doing nothing at the company since then... unless, of course, he's working on a certain game that ends with a 3 ;)
No, Bioware themselves has said that they don't know if it's canon or not. Everything post-acquisition is canon, and everything apart from the TV show and movies isn't but SWTOR straddles the line.
Holy shit dude, you're in for a treat.
You can't play BF2 online anymore unfortunately, as the GameSpy servers were taken down. I'm sure there's some back server thing people are using, but you won't be able to find a lot of people with the same mods anyway. The best mods to get even if you're just rocking some instant action are two that make the game feel totally different.
Battlefront Extreme is what Battlefront 2 should've been. Adds new units to each side, and makes the game feel that much more Star Wars-y.
Dark Times 2 mod adds a ton of new levels, units, and even some game mechanics. Also has its own campaign. You'll spend hours just learning everything this mod pack has to offer.
You can find both of those mods here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Star-Wars-Battlefront-II/
You should also visit http://gametoast.com/ to find mods that people are still working on, and many people have already finished. I'll recommend maps like Alzoc 3, Lotashi Z: X Provence, and there are a ton more. Best thing to do is sift through the "released mods and maps" section and just find stuff you think looks cool. Most of them include screenshots or videos.
Happy Battlefronting!
Source: My buddy and I still try new mods on an almost weekly basis and still get together to LAN this game a few times a month. Have been for the past several years now.
I know they explicitly said Clone Wars and Rebels are canon, but I can't find anything concrete on SWTOR.
Since it began before the acquisition by Disney, but still continues, it seems up in the air. Because of how much is in The Old Republic that sets up a history long before the films and current shows, and how much it draws from the EU, I can't imagine they're 100% cool with it being canon.
They seemed to want a clean slate with only what's already the mainstream knowledge of story being canon and SWTOR goes against that... but it's profitable, I'm sure, so they couldn't just cancel it for the sake of continuity. Maybe they're still undecided on it being canon or not? I'd think they might've said something official otherwise... right?
EDIT: Found this from just a couple days ago, http://www.gamefront.com/is-star-wars-the-old-republic-canon-ask-disney/ and the SWTOR peeps are not 100% certain, but they have been working with Disney closely...
"No context"? Are you fucking kidding me? This is the kind of ignorant bullshit that destroys all meaningful conversation.
Instructions to turn off the celshading in borderlands,
http://modsreloaded.com/borderlands-fps-tweaks-t5151.html
And also in borderlands 2
http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-improve-borderlands-2-with-ini-file-tweaks/
Gains a few FPS and makes the game look less cartoony.
If you loved the first one, you'll definitely still enjoy the second one despite its many glitches. Just check out http://www.gamefront.com/5-essential-kotor-2-mods/ and get the TSL restored content mod from there if you're going to play, in my opinion it makes the game much better!
I played N&S with the pubs along with Mikeon and Celtic and it was a lot of fun. Here's how to update if you still have the old version from the last time we played.
Follow This link and download the file.
Once downloaded run the setup.exe and it will install the North and South Mod. It will be titled North and South in your modules folder (as apposed to the previous North and South v.03).
Next, go into your new N&S Folder, and run the file called something like NSUpdate.exe. This will update your game to the latest version (v.43) as well as allow you to update easily in the past. Now you can just delete your old North and South Module (from a few months ago) and you should be good to play. If anyone has any issues i can help.
There are a ton of new little things such as new death animations, new music, battle crys, and your salute now actually has proper sounds! In addition there are a few major changes such as by default not having a fixed bayonet and having to add it with B. A fixed bayonet is less accurate, but without it you are going to have trouble with melee/enemy cav.
