I guess everyone who were calling people idiots for thinking we'd get a brand new Fallout are eating their words now. I'm floored.
Edit: Jason at Kotaku (good journalist) is saying we're going to be disappointed if we're expecting a traditional single player RPG. Online components involved, not an MMO though. Not a good sign. Looks like this might not be what we were hoping for, but I'll reserve judgement until E3.
Edit The Sequel: More new info here from Jason: https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333
This sounds like it could work, it's still going to have the same usual Bethesda structure with a story and questing. Very cautiously optimistic.
According to Kotaku this game is going to be taking the franchise in a new direction, so that for sounds like a valid possibility. If done well, a vault/settlement making game could be a pleasant surprise.

"Some fans have also theorized that this might be some sort of remaster of either Fallout 4 or Fallout 3, but from what we’ve heard, this is a new game, one that takes the series in a brand new direction. We’re expecting to see more tomorrow."
Open critic has a few more professional reviews, but the score's not doing much differently there, only getting a 54 so far.
> Fallout 76 is in the bottom 9.9% of games scored on OpenCritic
> Based on 15 scored reviews, 22 reviews total.
This could mean a few things.
Point one and two are equally likely. He's probably realised the mistake and took it down, been pestered (please, don't do that) to the point of doing it or Bethesda/his employer have told him to since it's likely a breach of his NDA. For this however, he probably won't face any major repercussions as it was honest oversight and he amended it. Nothing was directly leaked as anyone can claim to work there, but his past work on Bethesda games and with the major players in the industry gives it some credit. (Unless someone here is actually informed on such NDA breaches and wants to chime in what could happen?)
Point three is unlikely as he's an industry professional and would be damaging to his reputation. You can see his connections and recommendations on his LinkedIn page.
I've got it downloaded, for that eventuality. Time to examine the perk tree!

Ehm, that's straight up false advertising I would go even further and classify it as a deceptive advertising since they knew it wasn't the product they advertised.
Bethesda, pray that this won't land on the desk of European courts. It won't be pretty. One thing is false advertising media like movies, books or video games. But advertising and lying about a product that has properties that can be physically and objectively measured and tested? Even fucking Chinese knockoff brands of clothes and electronics don't dare to do this and that's something. Now add to it the clause about refusing refunds and Boyo, they are in deep shit.
Btw its still listed as a canvas https://fallout.bethesda.net/buy-now
True, but he was the one who found this in 2013. Makes me think he might actually know something. But, who knows.

Dude's being very inconsistent. He's implying there's no singleplayer at all.
It's a reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book. Click the link for the full passage.
It doesn't belong to the time. We're supposedly in 200 years after the world was obliterated, but all the music belongs to some 120 years even before that. That's pretty much textbook anachronism right there.
Edit: Of course, that goes for the entire game series, being a 1990s+ take on a 1950s post-nuclear war fantasy, played out in a future we know perfectly well would never come to pass -- but even then, no one in the 1950s would imagine people still listening to the same music in 2077. The music isn't there to add verisimilitude to the world as a 1950s fantasy, it's there to give it some 1950s colour.
Because the guy who leaked the information, Jason Schreier, also successfully leaked documents from Fallout 4 before it was even announced.
https://kotaku.com/leaked-documents-reveal-that-fallout-4-is-real-set-in-1481322956
I think it's more easy to dismiss the rumors if you don't know about his prior history. But his track record is immaculate. He leaked Fallout 4, Destiny 2, Destiny 2 being delayed, No Man's Sky being delayed, Mass Effect: Andromeda not receiving any DLC, AC: Origins, Prey 2, etc. Every time that guy writes a story with info from his contacts, it is genuine. Every single time.
Hoping that this guy suddenly got it wrong after years of getting everything right is something a little bit akin to denial to me.
EDIT: Just yesterday he leaked the next AC: Origins DLC. He was right. https://kotaku.com/new-leak-reveals-assassins-creed-odyssey-set-in-ancien-1826454752
It’s being made by Bethesda and a studio formerly called Battlecry studios that worked under Bethesda, and it’s going to be “online”

I'm becoming concerned that this is going to be an online multiplayer game based on some of the chatter I'm hearing. I will be really disappointed if that's the case.
I was getting flashbacks to the Bioshock 2 multiplayer which actually had plot that you unlocked as you played multiplayer matches with even a cutscene at the end.
Kotaku says that it's an online survival game comparable to DayZ or Rust. Not my cup of tea unfortunately. Time to play NV again.
Edit for Link
Basically you print out sheets with an unfolded design on it, cut them out, glue the tabs together and you have a 3D model which you can then treat with resin, fiberglass and paint.
Our team is actually working on a project that'll bring all olde' weapons, consumables, armors, clothes, plants, critters, vehicles and much more to make Fallout 4 feel more like the older ones. Our trello: https://trello.com/b/f7uQCmk6/wasteland-overhaul Our discord: https://discord.gg/VnDQB8X
You make a good point there. Looking through the comments of the facebook post, the dev states:
>And if I were them, I would. Because if I had a for-profit board game that was running on a very slim profit margin, and then there was the gigantic UN-licensed mod out there that dwarfs my publicity at the same time, I would C&D them.
I think that this is also a fairly compelling argument to why they might C&D.
The mods that you talk about are for the games themselves and they have something about the name that would mean that you weren't confused as to which one was which.
In this case, it's Fallout: New California, and Fallout: New California.
There's more similarities than just "it takes place in a Vault". The mod author describes some of them here. The main points he raised there were:
PipDroid
Nova Launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
UCCW: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.vineetsirohi.customwidget
Launch Nova Launcher and set the Desktop Grid to 7x5, as well as disabling the Dock and Notification Tray.
Launch PipDroid and choose the color to install.
Press and hold on your home screen and select Widgets.
Add any size UCCW widget.
From the UCCW menu select PipDroid Color.
Resize the UCCW widget to fit at the bottom of your screen.
Presto!
The part when they say heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust
If that's true, I'm out of here because I just don't want another FAIL like DayZ was.
The .special-module entries looks like a stylesheet for content that's not on the page.
EDIT: Hmm is this the ESRB rating for 76 or another game ? https://fallout.bethesda.net/assets/icons/icons.png
EDIT: Some of its definitely older code because I see references to consoles like Xbox 360
>I'm really excited for ES6
As a web developer, I was like "Dude, ES6 is already here!" https://nodejs.org/en/docs/es6/ https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/New_in_JavaScript/ECMAScript_6_support_in_Mozilla
I've always stylized the Elder Scrolls as "TES" lol
Not sure if anyone posted this, but Fallout 76 is going to play like a online survival RPG, like rust, dayz, etc.
(source: https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333 )
Nah, in the original listing it was listed as a 'Canvas Bag'. After the original OP complained they changed it on the official website to be a 'nylon bag' while on the other retailers (Like this Amazon one) it clearly states 'Canvas Bag'.

Definitely hits the realm of false advertising, but if anyone thinks it's worth pursuing is a whole different question.

"Yeah I’ve also heard people who know the game make comparisons to Ark, fwiw."
I hope that Schreier is wrong. Making a Fallout-themed Rust clone is perhaps the worst plausible scenario.
>"According to sources speaking anonymously to Kotaku, Fallout 76 reportedly will be an online survival RPG, along the lines of DayZ or Rust. According to Kotaku, Fallout 76 will still have quests and a story, as well as base building and "survival-based and multiplayer mechanics." The gameplay is "rapidly changing," though, according to Kotaku."
IGN article, and Kotaku article
Edit:
>"It will have quests and a story, like any other game from Bethesda Game Studios, a developer known for meaty RPGs like Skyrim. It will also feature base-building—just like 2015's Fallout 4—and other survival-based and multiplayer mechanics, according to those sources. One source cautioned that the gameplay is rapidly changing, like it does in many online “service” games, but that’s the core outline."
I am interested in what the gameplay will be like. I also wonder how they'll manage having millions of online players at the same time, obviously the wasteland shouldn't be all that crowded with hordes of players. We'll see how it turns out, but I'm open to it.
I went from OMG you think NV remastered?? Then read <strong>Obsidian's tweet</strong> and went back to thinking it's a Switch port then reading Kotaku's <strong>Jason Schreier</strong> article and I'm back to being excited again.
We might actually get a fucking new game announced.
A lot of people are confusing androids with cyborgs.
An android is a man-made humanoid robot, often with "parts" like synthetic skin, blood, and other features to make them more human-like. They have varying degrees of artificial intelligence, from subservient slaves (Dr. Zimmer's bodyguard, Fallout 3) to highly intelligent persons (Harkness, Fallout 3; Data, Star Trek). They are created, not born.
A cyborg is a biological human (or other lifeform) with both organic parts and cybernetic enhancements such as bionic limbs and electronically or chemically enhanced senses, organ, or brain functions. Cyborgs are born as humans (or, again, as other lifeforms), and are later made into cyborgs.
Where the Fallout universe is concerned, Dr. Zimmer asks you to seek a "highly advanced" android in Fallout 3. This suggests that pre-war androids, if they existed, would have not been advanced enough to resemble the intelligence and likeness of the man from Vault-Tec from the gameplay footage. If the man from Vault-Tec is the same man that's seen in the trailer, he's a cyborg, not an android.

Why didn't Red Dead Redemption 2 go on sale yesterday?
Why is Fallout 76 still on sale even though it's no longer Black Friday?
If you're going to make up an excuse to justify something, at least have the evidence to back it up.
Or, 1639 days since New Vegas came out. Which is more accurate, really.

I mean, we all played it back in high school (or at least my friends and I did) so it's not a legend. I feel like it’s worth mentioning in case anyone missed E3, unless i’m misinformed, Fallout 76 will feature a co-op mode and a private server mode so you can play by yourself if that’s what you wish. I’m hoping that means playing the game without the constant threat of being nuked to smithereens while reading a “Tales From The Wasteland”. Altogether, i’m extremely excited to crack open a cold Nuka-Cola with the boys and most likely will be replaying all the old Fallouts out of pure excitement. Bethesda took a bold step in a new direction and I personally think it will pay off.
EDIT:
here’s a helpful article that should bring you up to speed on the details.
also, for anyone who wanted to watch it, here’s the full Bethesda E3 stage show about Fallout 76 from last night.
Get the pip-boy app on Android or iOS. It basically acts as a second screen where you can equip and use items, look at the map, and other things without having to bring up the pip-boy in game.
Android link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bethsoft.falloutcompanionapp
Fallout 1 and 2 can be emulated on Android if you have the original PC files (and if you don't, you can buy them for next to nothing on GOG).
It used to be that the best emulator for the Fallout games was a tool called Exagear, but it looks like that thing is gone forever.
However a quick google search tells me something like Magic DosBox should do the job.
You need some sort of VPN. Most, if not all, VPN's that will let you seem to come from a different location cost a fee. I use Private Internet Access which does, indeed, have a connection in New Zealand. It would cost you a minimum of $6.95 to get the service for a month to do this, and of course potentially result in a ban.
That said, if one were to connect to NZ, unlock the game, then start Steam in offline mode for the duration of the 9th.....
He has sources, citing them would result in them being fired and probably not getting hired by anyone else in development.
This is the guy that revealed that Fallout 4 did exist, and was in Boston after that fake hype site got revealed as such. He also showed documents with names and specifics. Like the entire intro speech and an older variation of the Concord Museum quest.
This was in 2013, 2 years before Bethesda even announced or acknowledged that Fallout 4 existed.
I actually received it for Christmas! But I imagine it's from Amazon!
You can play both Fallout 1 and 2 on Android using ExaGear RPG and the game files from GOG. It even comes with instructions on how to update the games with the official and unofficial versions. From experience it works: https://imgur.com/a/VtJib
The Kotaku guy has finally revealed what he meant, and it's that he heard that it was going to be an online game.
So I'm guessing that's the "new" direction they're going in.
It's an online survival RPG
Which is to say, Rust or Conan Exiles.

I assume it's a six letter password, and the head/brain is the key.
6 letter words I can quickly come up with would be:
>Brainy
>Noodle
>Noggin
>Belfry
>Cortex
>Glials
>Neuron
>Neural
>Wisdom
>Mental
>Brains
Considering the appearance of a terminal, a brain, and the franchise's retro atmosphere, John von Neumann's The Computer and the Brain could also be relevant. I don't have time to look into it that much, at least for now.
I also found this, which could very well be nothing.
If you have any ideas or questions, drop me a message and I'll get back to you after work.

He is pretty reliable. Kotaku has been blacklisted (their words) by Bethesda and some other publishers in part because Jason did an article which turned out to be pretty true about the then still secret Fallout 4. You can see their article about it all here: https://kotaku.com/a-price-of-games-journalism-1743526293

I was just hearing in a stream that the guy that leaked the info was correct on all Fallout 4 predictions
So over on Kotaku, Schreier had this to say:
> The next big game from Fallout developer Bethesda Game Studios is Fallout: 76, the company announced today, and although the studio hasn’t yet said what it is, we hear it’s an online game of some sort.
So while that is as vague as it gets, hearing the words 'online game' fills me with dread and horror.
EDIT: Look at the dates on that- ALMOST TWO MONTHS AGO. If this was real, we'd have heard more by now.
Just FYI, you could also buy the season pass on Nuuvem, for approximately $17. You'll simply need a free VPN like TunnelBear to add it to your cart but, after that, it activates everywhere (worked for me, and I'm in Europe).
Kotaku is literally blacklisted by Bethesda. Here is an article Kotaku put out about it themselves, after they leaked shit and pissed Bethesda off.
It's the opposite? They were blacklisted because they posted accurate information before Bethesda wanted people to see it. Surely that makes them a more reliable source, not less?
Seriously, I really don't understand your logic, at all.

Jason Schrier just said it’s a new Fallout game taking the series to a new direction. Announcement possibly tomorrow.
I was gonna say, weren't modders remastering FO3 with 4 graphics/etc already? And it was gonna be free?
It was a huge project kinda like the project where they were making a new Skyrim level like Skywind or something, forget which one it is/what its called.
Edit link - THE CAPITAL WASTELAND
The score that you hear when your radio is off is excellent, and there are already lots of mods in the Radio section on nexusmods.
Also, someone gave a link in /r/fo4 to this huge atomic themed playlist.
IIRC, the way this game was coded, it's not really bullets being fired, but it's using Oblivion's Magika system and spells as bullets.
Probably glitched out at that remained from Oblivion
Edit: This backs me up in some aspects
Actually, large atriums aka "vaults" are very structurally sound and efficiently distribute a load from the top. Since they can be braced [against the earth you need to dig into underground](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vault_(architecture%29), they're a natural way for all structures in a Fallout Vault to exist.
This is the Fallout 3 loading screen.
This is the screen they had up for the Fallout 4 tease.
With Obsidian tweeting that it's not them, I'm thinking either Fallout 3 remaster or Fallout 5.
Would be very unexpected, for me, after all the Starfield rumblings.
It's actually pretty easy to do yourself.
Split up this image using the rasterbator.
Then just print out the separate images on photo paper.
Apply to wall.
Trying to find a link, but for a really good read on the problem with resellers look up how the Penny Arcade Expo guys are trying to deal with it. Apparently it's a lot more difficult that one would imagine.
EDIT: Found it.
Here is the obb file, you need to put this into a folder named "com.bethsoft.falloutshelter" in the ..android/obb folder on your device. You may have to make the bethsoft folder manually from your device as it was write protected or something for me, so I used a file explorer to make the folder and paste the .obb in. Using this I got it to run on my fire.
Then your Gonna LOVE fallout 76. All those things 76 nails at, like launching nukes at certain locations. Some stories like the order of mistress is really good. And if you haven't seen the roadmap. I'll link it.and also the game is really stable now, it's not new Vegas buggy but more like a little bit of fallout 4 level..
https://fallout.bethesda.net/en/article/7Lw6jVvhjzSNzuUMmKZgwn/fallout-76-100-days-roadmap-for-2019
Probably not the best example since I only took about 5 minutes to google something but she makes time lapse videos of herself drawing characters from many different IP's, including Nintendo and DC. She makes $286 per month from 42 people. with the size of the skyrim modding community I think certain mod authors would easily be able to make more than this. There are probably better examples but I just took the first one I saw.
Honestly, I don't think a lot of mod authors have seriously thought about financing through donations, or at least if they have I have not seen signs of it. And, out of the thousands of mod authors that exist I've only seen a handful in favor of Valves current implementation of monetization. I'm not volunteering other people's money I'm volunteering my own; I will (and have) donated to mod authors, I will never buy a mod from steam.
> Whoever coded that particular bit used a very lazy trick; he made it so that any time your scale is set to something other than 1, you'll be treated as a baby.
Here I am, reading Clean Code and then there's that fuckwit being employed by Bethesda.
they got blacklisted for accurately reporting details of Fallout 4 before Bethesda even officially announced the game existed.
Also notice who wrote that article.

You guys think what they have "heard" is merely the echo chamber of social media conversation or actual sources saying this is a new game? Because if so, MOTHER OF GOSH.

I'd just like to add Kung Fury: Street Rage to the list. Free with skip-able video ads and a remove ads option for something like $2. Simple yet addicting.
If Schreier is correct then I will be incredibly disappointed. The last thing I'd ever want to see is a Fallout themed Rust clone, yet Schreier implies that's what the game will be.
>Really? Do you have a source?
I experienced the Fallout games in the same order that you did. When you play Fallout 1 and 2, be patient: it's going to be a LOT slower paced than what you're used to. I'd suggest using This to help with most of your questions. Save before major events, Use your followers as pack mules by 'trading' with them then 'stealing' it back when it comes time to sell stuff or when you need it. Small guns, lock-picking and a high intelligence are your best friends.

Alibaba sells bottle caps at $.005 each. At 95 bartering you sell for 87.75% of the value (assumes that $.005 is the actual value), so it comes out to $0.0043875 per cap.

What's probably happened is that the devs used the idea of the name Nuka-World from this hoax and turned it into their own thing.
Hell, even smaller explosions and fires do it.
It's pretty simple physics, too. Hot air and smoke rise and cool. As the air cools, it's pushed out of the way by the hot air below it, forming the "mushroom" cap.
That's a cool jumpsuit. I actually prefer it too the in-game stuff. Reading the title I was afraid you might have been walking around in something like this.
I read it installs malware and you actually have to pay for it after the 1st day or you have to install some unwanted apps or it installs it for you, idk for sure but I would be careful, burned myself before.

Yep I use Reddit Is Fun also. There's also an option for pure black background which saves power on an OLED screen.
Have you seen Wasteland 2? It's engine would be perfect for Fallout 1/2 remakes, and basically follows their design (high detail town / mission areas) with a zoomed out map overview that allows the characters to quickly cross large distances, with random fights added in.
I think it would be pretty cool, but likely never done.
Jason Schreier's twitter. He's a journalist for Kotaku who has leaked accurate info on both FO4 and FO76. Here is an article he published today about what he claims to know.
Not sure if you've found out from someone else, but he found out about Fallout 4 in 2013 when he received documents that set-out the entirety of the first part of meeting the Minutemen. It also was what told us that the narrator would be the PC and not Ron Perleman...as well as F4 having a voiced PC. Article from 2013.
While I am not saying this is real. Bethesda has let typos slip into a finished game before. It's not impossible that there is one in their development tools.
Fallout 4 is free to try this weekend on PC and XB1. Also heavily discounted this weekend to $20. Season Pass is $30.
