Just wait few hours for official announcements from Firaxis.
EDIT. Here is countdown.
9:20pm BST/ UK time.
10:20pm CEST (european time).
1:20pm West Coast Time
4:20pm East Coast time
Edit: Other Time Zones
Edit 2: 20 min delay now ;(
I made a countdown timer so the international people don't have to calculate it for themselves personally.
Midlyinteresting: today is exactly 8055th day since USSR ceased to exist.
Edit: proper formulating would be actually 'OP indeed did math'.
This is my favorite type of drama. The type where people get so mad over something ridiculous. It's one thing if it's a spirited discussion, another when people start calling everyone an idiot who disagrees with them. Hilarious.
Also, I didn't see a single post where anyone actually looked up the answer. It was just "look at your calendar" or "ask anyone". How come we have the vast tool for finding any answer but no one uses it. It took me 5 seconds to Google this
>According to the international standard ISO 8601, Monday shall be the first day of the week ending with Sunday as the seventh day of the week. Although this is the international standard, countries such as the United States still have their calendars refer to Sunday as the start of the seven-day week.
Thanks for the times, but could you add the UK times as well?
I've already converted the times via TimeAndDateCom
Here are they for London, Great Britain:
Microsoft - June 9, 5:30 PM BST
EA - June 9, 8:00 PM BST
Ubisoft - June 9, 11:00 PM BST
Sony - June 10, 2:00 AM BST
Nintendo - June 10, 5:00 PM BST

Once again, ruler of European origin has been forced to abdicate the throne due to the movement led by a Gujarati.
You can probably take the time zone data they give for when the ejection arives then figure out which timezone is currently at noon to give you an estimate of the direction.
So the article says it will hit when it's mid morning GMT. I'll take mid-morning to be 9:00 AM. GMT is UTC + 0. So for 12:00 PM, that would be UTC + 3.
So those areas directly facing the sun when the ejection arrives should be:
It has been approximately 11 days, 19 hours, 40 minutes and 15 seconds since the Arizona polls closed at 7pm (mountain time). [link].
Even if only a handful of people were counting the votes since then they could have completed the assignment. This is starting to smell very fishy.

Unfortunately I think it may be more 'unreal' than you think -- I don't this is a video of the moment of the announcement. The Google translation of the Arabic underneath the video o YouTube reads:
"Declaration of the army of protestors in Tahrir Square solidarity with their legitimate demands and the convening of the Supreme Council of the armed forces to issue a statement of their demands implemented"
Furthermore, the announcement came at 6pm in Cairo, which was 20 minutes after sunset. The posted video is shot during the day.
My guess is that the video is from yesterday when the military was said to be 'safeguarding the country', not today.
tl;dr: the OP is posting someone else's video for the karma
EDIT: Piggybacking off the top comment to say that you can see what time the bundle will be out in your timezone here.
<rant with strong language>
Argggh. I HATE it when bundles come out like this. I'm fine with "for the first 10 minutes" because then, even bots can't stop me from getting it (unless there is a DDOS). When a bundle says "Only ***** left!", it makes me think that the bundle will be bad as they need some sort of incentive for people to buy it. If this is not some merchandise or some shitty games, I will be fucking disappointed as shit because I bet that bots are being made as I fucking speak to buy at least 999 of these and sell them at market price of all of the games combined minus like a dollar. If this happens, at least 1000 gamers are going to start a petition/tweetspam to HumbleBundle to make this available again, but this time for a time limit, like the steam sales. This is ending up like buying console games, "Sorry, we are out of stock." HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU RUN OUT OF STOCK ONLINE, UNLESS THIS IS AN ARTIFICIAL BARRIER OR MERCHANDISE?? WTF?
</rant with strong language>
EDIT: TL;DR: This tier is not for humans, it's for bots to resell.
Here's the countdown for the EU timer you racist piece of shit.
Want to see what time it is everywhere at once?. This is how I see who is waking up, who is bored at work, and who is wrapping up their day in seconds.

Those google calendar emails account for <13% of your current unread message (and that is assuming you signed up for google calendar on the first day it was released).
If we assumed that all of your unread messages were from google calendar, that would mean you'd had a calendar account for over 14 years :)

For some reason r/sanfrancisco has attracted a core group of super angry, super judgmental followers who pretty much represent the exact opposite of the people I meet here IRL. They seem obsessed with judging their neighbors and attacking anyone less fortunate, while foaming at the mouth about how difficult the city is for them. Why the fuck are they here? Seemingly to lash out and gnash teeth like rage zombies and pass on their bitterness and anger to anyone not yet infected. Well, too fucking bad. If you need me, i'll be out having fun, eating some great food, and enjoying how beautiful the trees around here look in the moonlight.
Here you go, I put New York because the internet didnt work and I only care a bit about that bit
Time zone the poster's system is either: Fiji-Suva or Uruguay.
All the posts before 201003031505 were posted one hour ahead and all the posts after 201103221328 and just until a couple of days ago were posted with no adjustment which indicates DST for the southern hemisphere and referring to this there are only two time zones that were changed in between those two dates.
The posts in the last couple of days are posts that have been 7 hours delayed (not sure why).
Just noticed the format of the posts with the time changes as well... Broken into 32-bit lengths for our viewing pleasure~
P.S. Also, as this has gotten so much attention he/she just posted one from 200707030409....
I've been researching and preparing for this, so let me pass it onto you.
First I went here: [link]
This will tell you the time the different phases will happen and also which direction in the sky it will be. Knowing that maximum eclipse would be at 212 degrees, I went out in my city and picked out some potential spots (using a compass to determine direction) that would give me a good foreground subject to make it interesting. That way, I can go exactly where I want to shoot and I know where the moon will be.
What /u/dinoalt suggested for camera settings sounds like a good start:
>f/8, ISO 400-800, 1/400th sec.
I'm going to play around with bracketing (haven't done much with this) to make sure I get a properly exposed image. I'm planning to shoot it with my Capital building in the foreground, which is usually super lit up, so I need to make sure it doesn't get all blown out.
I raise this point with everyone who whinges that we don't have DST and that it's such a great thing
perth sunsets in Jan (no DST applied)
sydney sunsets in Jan (DST applied)
and on top of this - because the ocean is to our west we get a fair amount of twilight even after the sun sets.
>[01:28:08pm] <Naturallymade> Redigit: Would you consider uploading it late tomorrow (like midnight) so its released early in the Uk, instead
>[01:28:31pm] <Redigit> it'll prob be between 12 and 3pm EST
This was just said on IRC. But who knows when Steam will release it for download.

Better yet: look up what time your local sunset is tonight. Then just find a major city with the same sunrise time. Once you find a proper webcam, you can watch your own personal sunset, then watch the sun rise on the other side on the world. Only one cam-finding needed.
Edit: try here: [link]
16:00 in GMT, so 12p local!
Qatar is 1 hour ahead of Central European Time during the summer. Can they fit in 3 matches during night time that will also be feasible for the Euorpean tv market? Sunset there is around 6:30 p.m. local time during June and July. Average lows there in June and July are between 28C and 29C. *EDIT: Looking at some of the hourly temperatures around June/July 2010, it seems that the average lows are usually very late, around 2:00 a.m. etc. It seems that the temperature doesn't drop off by that much during the evenings.
No, it was released in 2000 and the 3rd millennium started January 1, 2001.
Maybe you meant it was released in the last 1000 years, but that's true for all video games (arguably except games like Chess or Go). It seems you meant that it was released in an arbitrary span of 1000 years that includes now, but I'm not seeing what you are getting at there.
Let's see. We'd need 1,211 more subscribers for that to happen.
Minecraft will be released in 156 minutes according to this countdown.
So we'd need 7 to 8 new subscribers per minute. Nope.
Reddit has approved this a bit too early. Weekly sale will start 9h30min from now on. I've prepared a countdown for you We're sorry for trouble. We'll do our best to start it faster.

It is a common misconception that being more north means less heat in summer. The more north you get the longer the days get in summer. There is obviously a point where you get far enough north when it gets cold again, but there is a sweat spot in between where we live. Look at some of heat records for the prairies for example, they are insane. As well, I am into vegetable gardening, nearly all size records come from Alaska thanks to their long days during the summer.
If you look at the amount of daylight in Ecuador(on the Equator), it is 12h6m, while in Toronto it is 15h25m. Toronto 3 hours and 19 minutes more sunlight than a tropical country on the equator.
Please, oh please, use a better time zone calculator service. Like this one: [link] (I hope I got the time right). It has countdown too.
it looks like they are counting down to August 25th 3 pm (15:00) Stockholm time. The zoo is not too far from Stockholm and I am assuming they are in the same time zone. Something must be happening at 3 pm on Saturday August 25th at the zoo.
~~Tomorrow~~ Wednesday (my bad) at 1pm MDT according to this.
There's a thread discussing it on the BG forums here, including a countdown timer I set up here.
Well, technically it's not a current event until it's past 6:00pm on May 21st 2011 somewhere in the world, which will be happening in approximately 32 minutes here if you believe Camping's statement about the rapture following modern time zone rules.
Of course, if you're really nutty enough to believe that, then I'd like to sell you rapture insurance for $1,000 per person. In the event of an actual rapture, I'll ensure your belongings go to relevant non-raptured family members or friends, guaranteed.
Quite the set of games today! I don't think anyone expected Mousesports to 4-0 one of the better proleague teams, but they all played quite well.
Side note/ request: Monday and Wednesday nights and afternoons are pretty busy for me, so I won't be able to do these result threads for those days. If anyone is interested in doing a thread for tommorow's match in this type of style, let me know and I can send you the template I've made for the ShoutCraft results. Otherwise, I'll see you all on Thursday for Team Liquid vs Incredible Miracle!
The 3rd Millennium starts January 1st, year 2001 NOT year 2000 as many people believe, when using the Gregorian calendar.
The reason why the 3rd Millennium / 21st Century starts in 2001 is because there was no year 0 (or AD 0, 0 BC). The year before 1 A.D. is defined as year 1 B.C., so year 0 was skipped. (See below. Therefore, January 1st, year 1 is defined to be the start of the 1st century and the 1st Millennium.
Because one Millennium is 1000 years, the first Millennium ends with year 1000. The next (2nd) Millennium starts 1000 years after the first, that is in year 1+1000 = 1001. And the 3rd one starts 1000 years later than the 2nd: 1001+1000 = 2001. The same procedure could be followed for centuries.
I dunno what you guys are talking about, but Tuesday wasn't humid at all. It was actually the least humid day this week.
I've heard so many people saying it was humid... makes me think that people don't understand what humidity actually is.
I am going to use this all the time. I've just started trying to run a team of developers and designers spread over 3 continents and I've been flipping back and forth to this table every single day. Your tool looks a lot easier to tell at a glance what good times are.
Hmmm... Half Life was released on November 19, 1998.
Half Life 2 was released on November 16, 2004.
That's 2189 days or 5 years, 11 months, 28 days excluding the end date according to this.
That means we're now waiting longer for HL3 than the people who played HL1 waited for HL2. Although there were expansions for HL1.
If anyone questions this, explain it to them this way: The distance of the Earth to the Sun varies by about 3% - 0.98 AU to 1.01 AU, as per Wikipedia. I picked NYC to be a representative northern hemisphere city; on the summer solstice, it gets 15 hours and 5 minutes of daylight, whereas on the winter solstice only 9 hours and 15 minutes. This is a 48% difference. Source.
edit: Also the different sun angle is a big deal too.
This might push the launch and recovery attempt into the daylight or at the very least sunset depending on how many days the slip is.
Edit: Launch moves forward approximately 23 minutes every day delay and sunset at the cape gets 1m later every 3 days.
For the recovery zone I used Nassau Bahamas which is pretty close.
Used this for sunset calcs and just a note that these are at ground level.
Here's a video of a DIV launch at 2003L sunset at 2006L just for an idea of the lighting conditions.
I believe that this is New Zealand only so unsure how many people will actually find this useful here. I tried using it from Australia and it didn't work for me.
For those who'd like a bit of a cultural history lesson about 'Waitangi Day' -- In 1840, representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs signed what is New Zealand’s founding document. The day was first officially commemorated in 1934, and it has been a public holiday since 1974. Source: time and date.com
Actually it's not, since we're currently in daylight saving time.
It's really GMT -7, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
Daylight saving ends on November 4.
You can see the current time (and our awesome weather) in Los Angeles here.
>Although many believe that Benjamin Franklin invented DST, some say that modern DST was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson, an entomologist from New Zealand. Hudson presented a paper to the Wellington Philosophical Society that proposed a two-hour shift forward in October and a two-hour shift back in March. He followed up his proposal with an article in 1898, and although there was interest in the idea, it was never followed through
Also the first country to actually Implement daylight savings time was Germany. They implemented it on April 30 1916, almost a full month before the US implemented it.
The hop from Gander to Nuuk is 1700 km. Nuuk to Reykjavik is another 1400 km, and then it's another 1400 to Glasgow. This will all be possible because the combat radius includes carrying weapons, and obviously you wouldn't do that in a transportation situation.
That's exactly how they got Dakota's from Canada to the UK in WW2, except they used Prestwick then.
Countdown Timer for any wondering.
If it comes out November 24th the last Saturday of the the month it is going to take 53 days for season 3 to come out. Here I created this countdown! (/priceless "CHAOS")
did you ever consider that daylight savings time rules change from time to time, and this is why windows has to be updated?
consider this http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2011.html
>This list displays a brief (but not complete) overview over which countries and territories that plan to observe DST during 2011. Note that the list might not be final - countries, territories and states sometimes make adjustments that are announced just days or weeks ahead of the change.
I would be extremely surprised if he wasn't botting. Someone elsewhere in this thread mentioned that he has 196 days played on that toon. Mists of Pandaria has been out for 616 days, and he couldn't have made that toon any time before it was released. Assuming he made that character the day that MoP came out, he has spent about 32% of his time since then leveling it. That's 7.6 hours per day on average, or about half of his waking life for the last 616 days. If he made it sometime after the expansion came out (which he probably did, I'm not sure when the character was created), then he would have to have spent even more time per day. Can you imagine any sane person spending nearly 8 hours per day for close to 2 years doing nothing but picking the same few herb nodes over and over again?
I'm normally staunchly against botting, but I actually don't mind this. I can't see how this would affect any other players negatively, unlike battleground botting, gold botting, or gather botting. As far as I know, he can't even sell the herbs that he's gathering, since neutral Pandaren don't have an auction house and can't mail things to alts. Even if he did find a loophole, all he would do is kill the price on super low level herbs, but those are always dirt cheap anyway. All he's getting from this is a cool but ultimately meaningless accomplishment, and I'm okay with that.
Looks like True Detective is scheduled for a 9PM EDT airing (for those who, like me, don't actually have any idea when True Detective airs on HBO).
Just to avoid any panic for the UK redditors, mothers day is actually on the 30th of March this yeah. The date of April 3rd means this photo was taken in 2011.
Sun didn't rise in Miami until 7:35 on the day in question, he flashed his brights at him because he didn't have time to stop, and Stallworth's lawyers didn't want him to take a plea. They wanted to try the case because they believed they could have won.
I'm still waiting for my Magnum scope...
If you're planning on going through with this, I suggest using this, rather than complicated timezones calculations: [link]
edit: I'm all for though! Have it under my favorites, 720p! <3
There is the main show at 9AM california time, which you should watch because somewhere SSB4 will be in that. Here is a count down until that event beings. It won't all be smash of course. Last year, SSB4 was the last thing shown at the main event. The tournament is a bit later. It's at 4PM California time, or 7 hours after the main event starts. I don't know what the treehouse thing is, sorry. There will also be a 90min Q and A with Sakurai which may not be streamed, but will be posted online by reporters. Hope you can make it in time for the live version!
I would also recommend the Perseid Meteor Shower Aug. 10-13. In the Northern Hemisphere 50-100 meteors per hour. Best viewed someplace dark and without clouds. Unfortunately it does not coincide with a new moon. In fact it will be a "Super full moon" according to timeanddate.com
here ya go
*edit and here's a widget for if the mods wanted to embed one on the sidebar
Your math is off. The OP has had the game for 183 days^1 , and has played it for 516 hours.
516 / 183 = 2.82 hours/day.

Yes (if I understand your question correctly). The moon is full when its on the opposite side of the Earth as the Sun (the moon is in opposition to the Sun), and every place on Earth should be able to see the full moon rise at about sunset and see the moon set at about sunrise. Granted at any given time only about half the planet can see it. Also the moon is not necessarily visible depending on your location on Earth if you are near the poles -- similar to how the Sun isn't visible in the North pole in winter. (The moon-earth plane is at a very small angle (~5 degrees) from the Sun-Earth plane).
No, if you want to be most precise and only call the full moon -- the instant in time where the moon is most full. This occurs at one specific time instant (e.g., April 18th, 2011 at 3:44am GMT same instant in eastern time zone of April 17th 10:44pm EDT) when viewed from above the moon - Earth - Sun get closest to being in precise straight line. (Only during complete eclipses are these precisely in a straight line -- due to being in different planes by about 5 degrees most full moons aren't eclipses). This "fullest" moon be visible from Earth only at one specific instant, so you can only see "the fullest moon" if its night time at that instant. However, the naked eye won't notice a difference between a 98% full moon and the fullest moon (the moon will change phase by about 3% in a day), so everyone sees a full moon on the same day.

edit: The egg, it is all over my face.
IMO the best system would be either octal or hexadecimal. They are very compatible with the so influential binary system, unlike base ten. Octal would be easier to switch to as the numbers already exist to use it in all sorts of tools of communication, unlike hex, which is base 16 and commonly uses a, b, c, d, e and f for values (in base ten) of 10 to 15.
Also, I can't believe how many of you think of clock and inches and whatever heretic systems that are based on nothing but tradition as what I might be in favor of. An improvement to measuring time would be for example this.
Use this thingy to autoconvert. Uses IP geolocation, doublecheck to make sure it's got your time zone right.
This should help finding when the streams start for you.
We're not worthy.
Actually between the years 1960 and 1964 Havana used the time zone UTC -4, source. And as /u/Kitarn mentioned below this picture is likely from 1963 or 1964.
Good observation though, I didn't know until some further research.

Times around the world
Okay, I think I'm doing this right. Allow this to act as my disclaimer.
There seem to be some disputes on the borders of the timezones. Apparently the people who established the Samoan time zones crawled off the page and looped back around on the left. The absolute maximum is UTC+14 (Try to find the city called Kiritimati. They are inside the downward hook that lies in +14). These people are the farthest in the 'future' so they will be the first ones to see Midnight. The city of Afloi occupies the UTC-11 timezone, so Afloians will be the last to have that exact same Midnight.
So the people in +14 have a Midnight. Let's pretend it is Saturday morning. 14 hours later, the people in UTC experience that same Midnight, and 11 hours later, the people in -11 have that Midnight. It's been 25 hours already and Saturday is just now starting for the people of Afloi. UTC+14 is already in Sunday by now, but for the next 24 hours, Afloians are still in Saturday.
That's a total of 49 hours. If you plan on taking a day off, I recommend starting in Kiritimati and working your way towards Afloi for maximum hourage.
Bamn!! Here is the timer, add it to your post OP, por favor [link]

> Our server host is planning a scheduled maintenance window later today. As this would cause severe disruption to people playing Path of Exile at the time, we have decided to take our realm offline for two hours. This is a convenient opportunity for us to perform our own database maintenance. Our servers will be down from 6:30pm NZT to 8:30pm NZT (approximately 6 hours after this post was made - time conversion link here). DST is not the same everywhere. The US is different from most other places now due to recent changes.
Here's a table of countries and their rules: [link], and here's one with the dates: [link].
Every single year, people complain about the fact the clocks change at all, and the fact we're not on CET. There's a fairly decent reason for both involving farming for the clocks changing, and geography for the fact we're not on CET. Have a look at this map, hover over the "UTC" part of it, and you'll see what I mean: [link] - I believe we're currently labelled as +1 due to BST.
According to Worldtimebuddy 9:30 PDT is 5:30 BST, not 6:30. So I am a little confused right now.
using this too I work that it is 5:30 BST as well.

Dominion Beta Countdown! In case you live in another time zone like me =)
Here's the current Moon phase.
The Moon is often visible during the day, people just don't notice it. Currently it's about 60% full. When it's full, it's directly opposite the Sun, so you see it come up at sundown and directly overhead at midnight.
Each day it comes up around 50 minutes later (give or take about 10 minutes due to certain orbital and geometric considerations) because it takes about 29 days to orbit the Earth. Today in Boston, moonrise was at 10:44 EDT, so it had been up for about 45 minutes by the time you saw it.
Well, there were 597 chapters pre-timeskip, and the timeskip is the halfway point, so there should also be 597 chapters post-timeskip, meaning that the manga should end with chapter 1194. The current chapter (as of Wednesday's leaks) will be 749. For the past few months, Oda has gone on break about 1 week per month, give or take some bigger breaks, so I will do two calculations: one with no breaks (1 chapter every week), and one with 2 weeks of breaks every month (1 chapter every 2 weeks). The actual end date should be somewhere in the middle.
1194-749 = 445 chapters left.
Calculation 1: 445/52 = 8 years and 29 weeks (from 2 weeks from tomorrow, or December 21, 2022, since I am assuming constant output every week despite a 2 week break)
Calculation 2: 445/26 = 17 years and 6 weeks (from 1 week from tomorrow, or June 25, 2031, since I am assuming a constant repeating cycle of "break", "manga", "break", "manga", etc.)
~~Note: both of my times may be slightly off, as I used this date calculator, and my first calculation came out to a Saturday, so both dates are probably a few days off due to leap years and the fact that 365/7 does not come out to an even 52 (there is one too many days for that).~~
EDIT: Figured out my problem, and edited my comment with the correct dates.
I picked up Skyrim at the midnight release, and have put almost 400 hours into it according to Steam. According to my calculations, the game was released ~22,000 hours ago. That means I've spent 1.8% of my life since then playing the game, and have yet to finish the main storyline, because of how much I constantly get side tracked into exploring every random cave and whatnot that I come across.
Updated countdown timer for Friday's launch, in case anyone's interested.
And yet another person confuses PST with PDT. Ffs people the server isn't lined up with the current time in California, THAT'S PDT. PDT IS NOT PST.
PST is UTC - 8
PDT is UTC - 7
Get your time zones straight.
Aren't you 3 hours off? It says 11:59pm PDT, which is in 17h36m from my current time of posting...
EDIT: Post is 17 hours old and Urf mode still has 3 hours left? where is your god now!
Midnight PDT 31st May.
For future reference, there's a FAQ at the bottom of this page that gives dates and times of stuff as well as some other info :)

Note that if the stress beta weekends are any indication, the servers may actually be accessible for normal play up to 2 hours before the formal start time.
>~~However, it looks like you won't be answer questions until about 3 1/2 hours from now. Please only make your post about half an hour before you will be answering questions.~~

It's not based on time zone. It's based on a specific time of day based on a specific place.
This page says 6 and a half hours at the time of this comment.
