Abruptly, all our servers in America vanished. We're getting the ISP to sort it out immediately.

This shouldn't have killed hardcore characters because the servers that had the database on them (that saves would have to go to) went down first. It will mean several minutes of unsaved progress, unfortunately.

I'm very sorry (and surprised) about this. Should hopefully have it all back up soon.

People in NZ seem pretty good at recognising PoE shirts. More worryingly, incidents like the following have started to occur:

I was in the supermarket wearing Horror Reef (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/781176) and some guy recognised me.

I was ordering food at a burger place on Thursday (not wearing any PoE gear) and the guy serving me asked me for a beta key. "Hey, you're the guy from Build of the Week!" after hearing my voice.

This is more concerning than I can communicate.

Yep. They're going to lose so many players if they don't reverse this stupid decision. No one likes running easy-as-fuck low-level maps with no reasonable recourse for advancement. Not even relatively casual players. It's tedious and boring.

In trying to stop the 0.5% who level to L95 and above, they're going to ruin the experience for the other 99.5%. It won't matter how good the rest of the content is if most players quit before L80 because keeping even low maps like L70 in stock requires too much of a time and monetary investment.

The only culpability for GGG here is that they haven't implemented 2FA for their sign in. GGG should not be in the business of keeping your credentials safe from attacks that are external to GGG.

The "hack" is all on you and boils down to you either sharing your password amongst multiple devices and one of them got compromised, or you having installed some virus along the way that has a key logger. These days it's more likely that you have used the same or very similar password on another service that has been compromised. You can check by searching https://haveibeenpwned.com

I wish we had another solution, because I love this kind of data analysis. Maybe we can make stuff available in aggregate for analysis without exposing individual people's equipped items and passive builds without their knowledge? A lot of people didn't know the default for this was on.

Upcoming 1.2.4 Content Update and Race Season Nine

Last week we posted about Race Season Nine. Because the race season uses tech from the 1.2.4 patch (which we're planning to deploy on Tuesday), we've confirmed a start date of that race season to be the weekend of October 25. We'll be posting a full schedule next week in advance of the season starting. Today's news update describes some of the changes in the upcoming 1.2.4 update!

These aren't the full 1.2.4 patch notes, but a few of the changes you can look forward to are:

• New Skills: Herald of Thunder and a skill currently called Lightning Touch.
• New Microtransaction Skins: Seraph Sword and Seraph Shield.
• Some purchasable Hideout Decorations.
• Two new Unique items.
• You can now set your default loot allocation option.
• You can ctrl+click a Waypoint and select "New" to create a new instance of the area you're currently in.
• Added support for a new type of race that scores players on how long it took them to complete an objective.

So, finally Apple also approved our app which means Path of Crafting now has the latest changes from 3.8, including new mods and base items.

We also decided to release some new features at the same time. The picture shows a new screen where you can see the probabilities of rolling each prefix and suffix, with optional fossil weights. You can also add any mod at will to see the maximum potential of a craft. This is very MVP, so feedback or ideas are always welcome.

In the currency spending screen the total spending is now approximated to chaos using the poe.nija api.

We also fixed a few bugs, and probably added some new ones, as is tradition.

"Suggested path" is a great idea, could even align starter builds with the respective class archetypes. RIFT had to add preset builds and their skill trees are much less complex/much easier to reset.

You hit the nail on the head. Even as a "veteran" that knew to stack defense early, I resorted to death-zerging Act 4's final bosses too.

It looks like they're nerfing those bosses (recent hotfix) rather than increasing danger in the areas leading up to them, so I hope Cruel's difficulty is more of a gradual increase. (Which, btw, previous transition from normal to cruel had credits roll. Would that have eased some disorientation?)

I just want to mention it because it doesn't get much reddit love: Antnee's loot filter is incredible. It's extremely detailed, scales with level, and uses a good coloue palette that matches PoE (no stupid pinks and greens).

I wanted a loot filter that would cut out trash and (tastefully) highlight good stuff, and it fits the bill perfectly.

For anyone reading this - Please do not use utorrent or bittorrent. Both are extremely shady.

When I was a wee bab, I was incredibly annoying, because I could hold a box up and shake it and guess exactly what I was getting. I could guess off a corner of a present. It drove my mother insane.

So she instituted a new rule: if I correctly guessed what a present was, I had to give it back.

This rule went untested until my twenties, though we constantly joked about presents we obviously had figured out, guessing they were completely unrelated items (or some type of frog toy, because that's my absolute favorite animal). One December, as a joking hint, I walked up to my mother, hugged her, and said "Thanks for the laptop, Mom." Now, I thought I was just being cheeky, but my mother looked at me, confused, because she actually had gotten me a surplus laptop from the ones her work was throwing out.

On Christmas morning, I picked up a suspiciously heavy and flat package, unwrapped one corner of the laptop, went through three stages of grief in about half a second, clutched it to my chest and yelled "NOOOOOOO".

Eventually, my parents convinced me I was going to get to keep the laptop, and we continued handing out presents as normal. Three cycles around the room later, my sister picked up a soft and squishy present marked for me and tossed it to me from across the room.

It landed in my lap and started ribbiting.

It took us ten solid minutes to pick ourselves up off the floor long enough for me to open it.

It affects all programs on your computer so that's not really a solution we can get behind, but it does work. My preferred (but expensive) suggestion is to purchase and install 64 bit windows.

I hope GGG will give a demi to HUNKTHEMAN. It makes no sense to make it top 5 get demis in a game where party's are 6 man. If a full team makes it to maps, one of them will not get a demi. edit: I did say that even before the event started.

As for me well it looks like I lost the demi only in the last two hours of the race, in an exciting chase that got a ton of viewers on the different streams. Gratz to everyone for sticking to this race. With all the rips it got very easy and sometimes lonely. The ending made it all worth it.

When you don't play for the fun of the gameplay but mostly for the satisfaction of an accomplishment, playing the game can become bothersome. That's when you press autoplay and watch the game play itself while you can enjoy numbers going up.

haveibeenpwned is a great tool to look and see if your email/password is floating out on the dark web. It may not catch everything but it can be useful. I would also run what ever virus software you use. As others have stated there is no reason you should have to submit this information.

It was just announced that NewEgg was hacked and peoples credentials/CC info has been stolen. If you have used Newegg recently this is something you might want to be wary of.

A GGG staff member actually made a point about the fact we don't actually want a reclaim all because what about skin transfers?

I think part of his solution was to have mtx greyed out when in use the the ability to tell us where it is at (which character) I think that is perfectly fine and I have basically 800+ spent in MTXs.

They havent forgotten about this and I dont see the need to have a thread like this pop up every single day.

I think the real "hacking" cases where somebody has gained access to GGG servers and obtained valid login data are pretty much zero. The most accounts are most likely compromised by gaining access to your eMail account. If you share that password over multiple accounts, say PoE or other games those can be easily compromised as well, passwords reset and accounts be abused.

Two-Factor-Authentication via a mobile Authenticator app like Google Authenticator would definitely be a good step towards more account security.

I got caught with a script abusing a vendor recipe (why you can't see sockets on the item you're getting) in closed beta (you can read about it here). He renamed my main char from OldManWithABow to OldManWithABot. Good times, Chris, good times.

I have the same problem. I fixed it by reducing the texture quality to potato levels and enabling 3gb of user space memory.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but have you taken a look at a mouse with buttons on the side such as the Logitech G600? I get a lot of use out of mine and can play PoE 1-handed at full effectiveness. It might particularly help with the flask issue.

It is the character "ReallyBadIdeaTest". The build is 8 overlapping Energy From Within jewels, The Covenant, Carnage Heart, and Ephemeral Edge.

What bothers me is that noone realizes that theres nothing wrong with another gavel. having it drop does not mean you "almost had a mjolner drop, 50% chance", every unique in this game has a rarity tier, meaning that uniques within the same tier share the loot table.

From what i recall, it works as follows. the game rolls and decides given monster will drop an unique. next step is a roll which will determine which tier of rarity will the unique be part of (of course the odds of getting tier 1 here are way lower than getting tier 4) after that is decided, it will randomnly choose an unique from that tier list.

cameria's maul is probably a T4 unique, which shares it drop table with other great uniques such as veil of the night.

theres a thread where people are speculating which items belong to which tier, given that ggg does not reveal that kind of information.

you would be more likely to have seen a mjolner drop if you see a shavronne's / kaom's heart drop (omg almost had a mjolner would apply to that but you probably dont even care cause you got a shavs or w/e tier 1 unique)

The only thing that this addition affects is when you see an unique gavel drop theres the heartbeat feeling until you mouseover the item, which is a kinda fun addition imo.

long guide/answer tl;dr: We are using Gluttony of Elements with Lightning Coil to heal through all incoming damage due to the way damage and healing calcuations work. Mana comes from Spirited Response.

Turns out instant healing mana to full with the helm Indigon and 12k mana pool is pretty good.

The first season will be in Standard and Hardcore (because it's so early into the new challenge leagues). The second season will probably be in the new challenge leagues. It'll vary by season.

The current plan is that Standard players don't compete directly against Hardcore players in the same matches - they have different events in the schedule. Someone could play in both types if they had two sets of characters.

Chris' reply amounts to "You want more? We are not making it less!"

More different cards at the same stack sizes doesn't really address the "more cards, bigger stack requirements" request - it's solely more cards with the same rates and ratios, whether or not you consider those rates problematic.

With small stack sizes and rare cards, there's less and less advantage or value to the cards as a "deterministic farming method" - take the mirror set; assuming its set at 1/9th of a mirror's rarity, the card is still "barely ever drop" territory and to almost every player they will be more valuable to sell to someone else buying them up than something they might farm to completion.

I still feel like with cards, the barrier should primarily be time & tedium, not RNG per se. "Do I really want ______ enough to farm ______ for __ days?" should be more the question than "do I ever have a chance at completing a stack of these?" I suppose it's no biggie for some players, I at least can just fill stash tabs and ignore until the number changes colour, but people who don't have a bunch of spare tabs?

Been running Flicker for quite a bit, in my opinion it combines massive DPS with agility and clear speed on the same level as ranged builds. At the moment there are two main ways to do flicker:

• Balls to the wall (the way I went): Go CI, take 500ex, get your Horror Skewer/Entropy Razor, some sick Jewellery, Acuity and fuck some shit up. Frenzy charge sustainability without Blood Dance is fine (basically oneshotting everything) when soloing, in full parties it can be a bit shaky at times. Bring along Frenzy for longer boss fights and Poachers Mark for those rare moments when you run out of Frenzy charges. If you wanna have a look at my particular aproach on CI Flicker, have a look at my guide here.

• 2H Flicker with a bit more "budget" gear, the choice between RT (Oro's) or Crit (Hege's Staff or rare Staff) is yours. Gear is way cheaper and your survivability is also really decent as you're even able to equip a Kaoms for some serious HP. Frenzy charge sustainability without Blood Dance tends to be way lower as you need more hits/charges to kill stuff so they are kinda mandatory. There are quite some 2H Flicker guides on the forums already (personally love Korgoths guides) so if you wanna go that route feel free to check them out.

Looks like you answered most of the questions on the forums. Overall, this is a pretty harsh nerf to EB, since it takes away MoM and AA as options (lower free mana and lower base mana regen for the same setup pre-change).

Offensively, it opens up the usage of ZO/GR as options for heavy mana leech to sustain skills. However, my understanding is that most people use EB for what it opens up defensively - hence there will be qq.

If your data indicates that people are too reliant on AA/MoM as defensive options - the nerf looks good as is. From what I've seen over the past few leagues, people can abuse those mechanics, but aren't overly dependent on them (i.e. Cloak of Defiance & mana regen gear aren't overbid).

I've never rolled EB, but it seems like a pretty severe nerf to EB.

• Would total mana regen be based on (ES + Mana), or Mana alone? If the latter, base mregen is lower than it would be under current EB.
• Would auras reserve (ES + Mana), or Mana alone? If the latter, then you have less free mana than you did with old EB.
• If I have new EB + MoM (assuming no changes to MoM's mechanic), would MoM apply to the EB/ES, or just to mana? If the former, Ghost Reaver would be a bit OP. If the latter, then MoM just got spanked.

First take - looks interesting, but will cause tons of qq from actual EB fanatics.

Mind sharing the thought process behind going on this path?

Heya, sounds pretty frustrating. The easiest way to identify where the issue lies is to run a WinMTR trace for 500 cycles to your instance IP while you are in the game and experiencing issues. This will show lag/packetloss across each individual hop to the server and let you see where the problem occurs. You're more than welcome to paste your WinMTR results into pastebin and link to it if you'd like help decoding it. If the problem doesn't show up in MTR, then you can move on to eliminating other potential sources.

Well that seems to line up with what I thought a scam was, what do you think a scam is?

According to the definition this is a scam. They are listing an item without it being available for sale but establishing a value for it, then using that false value to entice players into selling their items for cheaper. They are using fraudulent means in a plan to take advantage of someone else. In fact, it's a variation of a scam that's been around for hundreds of years called &quot;Pig in a poke&quot; where false value is established and taken advantage of.

GGG should change their game over time as the player base changes, as the player base grows the infrastructure and systems of the games can and should change to accommodate that. This behavior makes the playerbase seem predatory, while as a community we should want to be welcoming to new players.

As a community, we don't have the resources to hide these types of players from new players or players that are not yet active in the community. Only a small percentage of POE players will ever come to this subreddit. And most forms of blocking by the community also introduces abuse cases such as witch hunting and false flags.

I am not confusing asynchronous with automation, you're making assumptions as to what I mean. An asynchronous trading system means that the buyer and seller do not have to be both online ad the same time (Chrono means time in latin). If they buyer and seller don't have to be engaged at the same time, then the buyer can acquire the item without direct, timely input from the seller. In most applications of this system (as I said) that means the item is available to be acquired at the price it is listed for which protects from price fixing scams such as this.

The Arena

This isn't the flashiest area I've ever made, but in-game, the Pyramid Apex is a fairly simple location. You arrive via stairs, pits in the corner, stairs leading to the Sarn Borders with the Oversoul's plinith in the center of the room. Of course, the Oversoul won't begin awoken - his token is only there for a sense of scale.

The Vaal Oversoul

This guy is easily the largest statblock I've ever had to make. Due to his multitude of moves, I wanted to try and remain as faithful to the source material as possible, while still keeping the difficulty in check. This is meant to be a rough fight, absolutely, but not one to stomp the players. Note that it is a group of five 7th level players, though they may reach 8th before the encounter. Also note that the players will have to fight a minimum of nine additional creatures throughout the encounter, at a minimum. Finally, his Actions aren't set up as perfectly as I would like. In roll20, all actions are either attacks or spells. Considering some of them (such as Ice Shards and Collapse) isn't really one of either, I put it under Attacks for simplicity. The macro rolls a chance to hit, though it is ignored and treated more like a spell's AoE damage.

Serpentine and Vaal Constructs

These guys were pretty simple. I just used a pre-existing creature Swarm of Poisonous Snakes and made some slight tweaks to better fit the flavor of their PoE counterparts.

Throwing an exception is a really slow process, because of the stack trace that needs to be generated. Throwing many exceptions may slow a program down to a crawl.

I used to have this problem constantly on my PC which is quite outdated (2GB RAM, running 32bit Windows 7). After searching through the forums i found 2 solutions which fixed the problem for me.

The penalty stopping at level 68 isn't specifically due to what level maps start, that was the cut off before 2.0 as well. The penalty does not take effect until your character is two levels higher than the area level. The full line he was quoting was:

I'd like to point out that it's possible (and totally legal) to have a macro that tells you socket colors!

When you press ctrl+c over an item ingame, you get a text-based version of it into your clipboard, which e.g. Autohotkey in turn can work with. This is used for example in the Item info script, but it would be easy to make a much lighter version that simply shows a tooltip with the socket colors.

I don't think it would work with items on the ground, but in all other instances mentioned (stash, trade, except poe.trade I guess, but that guy would be able to make a colorblind mode himself) it would at least give you the necessary information.

Of course it's more clunky than a colourblind mode, but better than nothing...

Hey again. I'm back with another build and a video to showcase it. Due to the upcoming wipe I can't show the true potential of this build but I thought I should demonstrate its core ideas, much like with The Restless Trapper. If you like these videos, be sure to let me know how I can improve them.

This is essentially an evolved form of the standard Poison Arrow build with a few twists.

Passive Skill Tree - Designed to be scaled down to any level

• Cloak of Defiance (Mind over Matter), life and mana regeneration stacking, and newly added flask modifiers on the tree for a high potential HP pool with constant recovery

• Chin Sol in the alternate weapon slot for Puncture, which is heavily buffed by stacking numerous modifiers (many of which double dip)

• Arctic Armour, Abyssal Cry, a 12 second Rallying Cry, and near-constant uptime of Quartz and Quicksilver Flasks for both their offensive and defensive boosts

• Potential to use most of the best ways to scale Poison Arrow and Puncture damage: Rallying Cry, up to 9 Frenzy Charges, up to 8 jewel sockets, Drillneck, The Blood Dance, Vaal Lightning Trap, Vulnerability, etc.

• Potential for nearly capped pierce chance without the Piercing Shots cluster, due to Drillneck (10% chance to pierce), the new unique jewel Poacher's Aim (15%), and the Pierce support gem (70% at level 21) for 95% chance altogether

Basically it's just a collection of pastebin bots that scan new posts for username/password lists, gathers them in a database and then adds it to this list so it can notify users if they've been compromised.

I'm in quite a few of these leaked databases and I have attempted logins to my hotmail from Taiwan, Brazil, China, Russia literally every few days for the past year. Unfortunately, they will never give up now that you're out there.

Answered: I fixed it!!!!! Turns out it was Windows 10 Creator update. I made a new post about it. I'll copy and paste it here:

I went from being able to play PoE fine to getting 5 FPS (a whopping 19 FPS with all graphics turned way down), and I blamed PoE 3.0 for it, BUT my Windows 10 upgraded to Creator the same day I developed problems and after trying everything else, and I do mean everything, I rolled back to an earlier version of Windows 10. I'm back to 60 FPS, and everything is just dandy again.

You can't stop Window updates anymore, so Creator may show up again, but I took the additional step of instructing Windows not to update any drivers when it loads, since that may have changed settings that caused the problems in the first place. Here's a link telling you how to do that:

But you can perhaps take this last bit with a grain of salt. I'm no expert. It took me a week to fix this. But the roll back definitely made all the difference in the world.

I'm not saying any of this will help with the disconnects and lag people are experiencing in certain areas or maps, and with some effects and monsters. That's GGG. I'm saying I was getting 5 FPS standing still in town and this took care of that problem, and thus far I'm personally running fine again in the first few Acts.

It is not allowed. I sent an email to GGG Support asking about a "Auto hold shift key when i press right mouse button macro".

Consumed by greed Elrion, Haku, Catarina and Zana took over the ruins and brought in slaves to harvest the worlds created by Lazhwar before he was burned at the stake.

Connecting the original map device to a train track they are now able to empty the hidden worlds and hoard amazing amounts of wealth.

The attack speed is irrelevant. This build works on movement speed. Cyclone works like this since the change in 1.3.0 >Cyclone now attacks slightly slower and has an equivalent increase to damage. It now deals damage immediately when it is used, in addition to periodic damage. Cyclone no longer targets enemies, only locations.

I actually messaged GGG a couple weeks ago about mobs disappearing and turning red. I noticed it happening a lot in the Collonade map. I am playing a poison arrow (non trap) build.

This is a pretty standard cyclone build going for high life and some life leech + axe damage in the skill tree.

It is the build I'm using in my 70+ map boss guides.

I've had great success with this build being able to do any map mod, I have not had to reroll a single map over hundreds of maps, if the quantity/pack size was good, I was able to roll the map whatever the mod combo.

Anything that relied on self-curse punishment is kind of fucked. In my case, it would not be too difficult to just swap a few pieces of gear and run crit cyclone to make up for the damage loss, but it is still a dissapointment. Prolif and leech changes would have hit pretty hard, but the punishment change makes it simply non-functional.
