Welcome!
Abruptly, all our servers in America vanished. We're getting the ISP to sort it out immediately.
This shouldn't have killed hardcore characters because the servers that had the database on them (that saves would have to go to) went down first. It will mean several minutes of unsaved progress, unfortunately.
I'm very sorry (and surprised) about this. Should hopefully have it all back up soon.
Edit: It's back up now. It was a power outage. We're investigating what can be done to prevent it from occurring in the future.
Edit: Jonathan has posted an incident report about the outage.
People in NZ seem pretty good at recognising PoE shirts. More worryingly, incidents like the following have started to occur:
I was in the supermarket wearing Horror Reef (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/781176) and some guy recognised me.
I was ordering food at a burger place on Thursday (not wearing any PoE gear) and the guy serving me asked me for a beta key. "Hey, you're the guy from Build of the Week!" after hearing my voice.
This is more concerning than I can communicate.
I put all the relevant math in the forum post. Read that first.
If you have any questions I'll be not passed out for the next hours, which is a very definite time frame.
Edit: And I'm back
> Oh yeah, map drops FUCKING SUCK like, terribly, horribly BAD
Yep. They're going to lose so many players if they don't reverse this stupid decision. No one likes running easy-as-fuck low-level maps with no reasonable recourse for advancement. Not even relatively casual players. It's tedious and boring.
In trying to stop the 0.5% who level to L95 and above, they're going to ruin the experience for the other 99.5%. It won't matter how good the rest of the content is if most players quit before L80 because keeping even low maps like L70 in stock requires too much of a time and monetary investment.
News happened! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1288589
Your reasoning makes little sense, honestly. Founder packs do not necessarily have anything to do with the monetization model; take Path of Exile, for example, that sells 900$ founder packs but at the same time it's one of the fairest free to play titles on the market, where all you can buy are cosmetics and extra stash slots (but you have plenty of those anyway).
Similarly, Eternal Crusade's devs stated that it was not their intention to lock more powerful items behind a paywall, but instead make so that, if you don't have time to farm, you can just pay to skip that. As long as that farm doesn't become a chore, it's a reasonable middle ground, similar to the model Planetside 2 adopted, and that game is far from pay to win.
I think this is what it looks like when a game is about to enter its golden age.
Act 4 right around the corner. We don't even know anything about it yet, and we're getting these insane "By the way" QOL improvements every few days.
Nothing. It was a patch note generated with an algorithm (semi-random combinations of verbs/nouns). He simply kept that in because it was funny.
If anyone is interested in playing a game similar to Diablo, check out Path of Exile.
The game just came out with its second 100% free expansion this Wednesday, the rest of the game is free to play as well!
I really hate to be the bringer of bad news, but... https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1410378
I wish we had another solution, because I love this kind of data analysis. Maybe we can make stuff available in aggregate for analysis without exposing individual people's equipped items and passive builds without their knowledge? A lot of people didn't know the default for this was on.
Upcoming 1.2.4 Content Update and Race Season Nine
Last week we posted about Race Season Nine. Because the race season uses tech from the 1.2.4 patch (which we're planning to deploy on Tuesday), we've confirmed a start date of that race season to be the weekend of October 25. We'll be posting a full schedule next week in advance of the season starting. Today's news update describes some of the changes in the upcoming 1.2.4 update!
These aren't the full 1.2.4 patch notes, but a few of the changes you can look forward to are:
Welcome to the game! Here is a simple beginner's FAQ. You can also find useful information on our fan made wiki. If you run into any issues at all please don't hesitate to contact our customer support team at - We are available 24/7 and happy to help.
"Suggested path" is a great idea, could even align starter builds with the respective class archetypes. RIFT had to add preset builds and their skill trees are much less complex/much easier to reset.
> If these bosses aren’t bugged—and this is the intended spike in difficulty—then the game utterly, completely failed to communicate with the player that they need to focus more on survivability. They had a lot of time early in Act Four to make this clear and, if anything, I think the first few zones are easier than the end of Act Three.
You hit the nail on the head. Even as a "veteran" that knew to stack defense early, I resorted to death-zerging Act 4's final bosses too.
It looks like they're nerfing those bosses (recent hotfix) rather than increasing danger in the areas leading up to them, so I hope Cruel's difficulty is more of a gradual increase. (Which, btw, previous transition from normal to cruel had credits roll. Would that have eased some disorientation?)
I just want to mention it because it doesn't get much reddit love: Antnee's loot filter is incredible. It's extremely detailed, scales with level, and uses a good coloue palette that matches PoE (no stupid pinks and greens).
I wanted a loot filter that would cut out trash and (tastefully) highlight good stuff, and it fits the bill perfectly.
This build uses Wand Barrage + CoC to cast Ball Lightning + Magma Orb. With 20% knockback chance, Ball Lightning can knock enemies back into Magma Orb's second explosion. This allows it to outDPS fireball, and also helps us overcome the 2.0 "shotgun nerf."
Apologies for the low fps/ quality, it's all my laptop could handle while recording. It should work fine on computers with midrange graphics.

Also want to thank /u/twitch_tv_RaizQT for his cocknocker guide; you don't know who I am but I got the idea for ball lightning KB from you.

"A large part of crafting and trading in Path of Exile is access to information. The value of items relative to the current metagame is constantly shifting. The value of mods rolled on items changes over time also. For example, +3 bow skills is great at the moment, but has been terrible in the past. There are secret recipes - one that generates a Regal Orb was only added to the wiki today, despite being in the game for years and also known by many people."
Previously GGG would release things like "3 new vendor recipes added" when releasing patch notes... they haven't done so for quite a while now (that I've seen), but I doubt they're stopped adding recipes, more that by putting in "how many were added", the community had -thought- they'd gotten them all thus far... turns out, not so much.
Here's my character gear/tree (Uber_Dan) because I'm sure people will be interested. https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/PoEDan79/characters
update: 2nd kill GG boys http://i.imgur.com/I5plPOI.jpg
This will fix it: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/108634
It affects all programs on your computer so that's not really a solution we can get behind, but it does work. My preferred (but expensive) suggestion is to purchase and install 64 bit windows.
I hope GGG will give a demi to HUNKTHEMAN. It makes no sense to make it top 5 get demis in a game where party's are 6 man. If a full team makes it to maps, one of them will not get a demi. edit: I did say that even before the event started.
As for me well it looks like I lost the demi only in the last two hours of the race, in an exciting chase that got a ton of viewers on the different streams. Gratz to everyone for sticking to this race. With all the rips it got very easy and sometimes lonely. The ending made it all worth it.
A GGG staff member actually made a point about the fact we don't actually want a reclaim all because what about skin transfers?
I think part of his solution was to have mtx greyed out when in use the the ability to tell us where it is at (which character) I think that is perfectly fine and I have basically 800+ spent in MTXs.
They havent forgotten about this and I dont see the need to have a thread like this pop up every single day.
Here is a link to said post about what he had in mind:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/422782/filter-account-type/staff
I got caught with a script abusing a vendor recipe (why you can't see sockets on the item you're getting) in closed beta (you can read about it here). He renamed my main char from OldManWithABow to OldManWithABot. Good times, Chris, good times.
As of right now, every post mentioning new T1 mods is being downvoted (maybe by someone trying to sell their mirrored gears?)
But anyhow, here is the post mentioning new T1 mods:

Version 2.0.0f
Fixed a bug where Shackles of the Wretched interacted incorrectly with the new Punishment curse.
Fixed an instance crash related to chilling enemies under certain conditions.
Fixed a bug where Warbands in Maps were using location information from Merciless instead of the correct Map information.
For more information about how Warbands works, read this Development Manifesto post about it.
here you go
It is the character "ReallyBadIdeaTest". The build is 8 overlapping Energy From Within jewels, The Covenant, Carnage Heart, and Ephemeral Edge.
What bothers me is that noone realizes that theres nothing wrong with another gavel. having it drop does not mean you "almost had a mjolner drop, 50% chance", every unique in this game has a rarity tier, meaning that uniques within the same tier share the loot table.
From what i recall, it works as follows. the game rolls and decides given monster will drop an unique. next step is a roll which will determine which tier of rarity will the unique be part of (of course the odds of getting tier 1 here are way lower than getting tier 4) after that is decided, it will randomnly choose an unique from that tier list.
cameria's maul is probably a T4 unique, which shares it drop table with other great uniques such as veil of the night.
theres a thread where people are speculating which items belong to which tier, given that ggg does not reveal that kind of information.
this is the thread: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1152638
you would be more likely to have seen a mjolner drop if you see a shavronne's / kaom's heart drop (omg almost had a mjolner would apply to that but you probably dont even care cause you got a shavs or w/e tier 1 unique)
the same applies to chancing gavels, if you chance a cameria's you didnt fail to get a mjolner.
what i mean by that is the hate richjmoney is getting has no fundament
The only thing that this addition affects is when you see an unique gavel drop theres the heartbeat feeling until you mouseover the item, which is a kinda fun addition imo.
As clarified here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1087970/page/2/#p9149929
The first season will be in Standard and Hardcore (because it's so early into the new challenge leagues). The second season will probably be in the new challenge leagues. It'll vary by season.
The current plan is that Standard players don't compete directly against Hardcore players in the same matches - they have different events in the schedule. Someone could play in both types if they had two sets of characters.
Doesn't your Arcer use Righteous Fire, or do you have another Arc build guide as well?
Edit: Ahh, this one? https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/879637 Yes, that looks like the basics of what Etup was running. Two Arcs, one one totem, one empowered for damage, similar defences. Cool build and nice guide.
Which is kinda a sidestep rather than an answer, if we're keeping the original comment in mind
>Larger stack sizes and higher drop rates please.
Chris' reply amounts to "You want more? We are not making it less!"
More different cards at the same stack sizes doesn't really address the "more cards, bigger stack requirements" request - it's solely more cards with the same rates and ratios, whether or not you consider those rates problematic.
With small stack sizes and rare cards, there's less and less advantage or value to the cards as a "deterministic farming method" - take the mirror set; assuming its set at 1/9th of a mirror's rarity, the card is still "barely ever drop" territory and to almost every player they will be more valuable to sell to someone else buying them up than something they might farm to completion.
I still feel like with cards, the barrier should primarily be time & tedium, not RNG per se. "Do I really want ______ enough to farm ______ for __ days?" should be more the question than "do I ever have a chance at completing a stack of these?" I suppose it's no biggie for some players, I at least can just fill stash tabs and ignore until the number changes colour, but people who don't have a bunch of spare tabs?
Been running Flicker for quite a bit, in my opinion it combines massive DPS with agility and clear speed on the same level as ranged builds. At the moment there are two main ways to do flicker:
Balls to the wall (the way I went): Go CI, take 500ex, get your Horror Skewer/Entropy Razor, some sick Jewellery, Acuity and fuck some shit up. Frenzy charge sustainability without Blood Dance is fine (basically oneshotting everything) when soloing, in full parties it can be a bit shaky at times. Bring along Frenzy for longer boss fights and Poachers Mark for those rare moments when you run out of Frenzy charges. If you wanna have a look at my particular aproach on CI Flicker, have a look at my guide here.
2H Flicker with a bit more "budget" gear, the choice between RT (Oro's) or Crit (Hege's Staff or rare Staff) is yours. Gear is way cheaper and your survivability is also really decent as you're even able to equip a Kaoms for some serious HP. Frenzy charge sustainability without Blood Dance tends to be way lower as you need more hits/charges to kill stuff so they are kinda mandatory. There are quite some 2H Flicker guides on the forums already (personally love Korgoths guides) so if you wanna go that route feel free to check them out.
Good post, could you please post it to the Feedback forum as well if you have not done already.
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/feedback
Thanks for the honest and detailed feedback.
Looks like you answered most of the questions on the forums. Overall, this is a pretty harsh nerf to EB, since it takes away MoM and AA as options (lower free mana and lower base mana regen for the same setup pre-change).
Offensively, it opens up the usage of ZO/GR as options for heavy mana leech to sustain skills. However, my understanding is that most people use EB for what it opens up defensively - hence there will be qq.
If your data indicates that people are too reliant on AA/MoM as defensive options - the nerf looks good as is. From what I've seen over the past few leagues, people can abuse those mechanics, but aren't overly dependent on them (i.e. Cloak of Defiance & mana regen gear aren't overbid).
I've never rolled EB, but it seems like a pretty severe nerf to EB.
First take - looks interesting, but will cause tons of qq from actual EB fanatics.
Mind sharing the thought process behind going on this path?
Thanks for testing the idea here first. Will add questions as they come ;>

Path of Exile race leagues are short duration events where players compete in a fresh economy to win prizes. With durations ranging from minutes to one month, they allow players to demonstrate mastery of Path of Exile. Today we're announcing our first race season in The Awakening: the Emberwake Race Season. Named after the 1000-point Unique ring that we're introducing with the season, The Emberwake Season will run for one month and contains 120 events.
We felt that "Season 12" would have been a very unapproachable name for a race season. It implies that you have to be aware of the previous 11 seasons to enjoy this one, which isn't the case. Races are easy for new players to get into, so we wanted to rebrand them alongside The Awakening. They each have a theme (in this case, fire) and are named after their 1000-point Unique item reward.
To celebrate the announcement of the Emberwake Race Season, we'll be running a special Ember Mystery Box sale this weekend. More information will be in the news tomorrow!
In other news, I played some Path of Exile today with Hunter Pence!
We have also deployed patch 2.0.0e.
We are aware of various stability issues with stuttering in towns, map disconnections and so on. We have several people working on these issues and I'll keep you updated as we resolve them!
> I curse a mob with Punishment, and due to SotW this curses me with Punishment. I cast lvl 1 Ethereal Knives at the mob. If I block the reflected damage, does this cause Tempest Shield to injure the mob?
No
> Let's say my block chance is overcapped at (for math easiness) 100%. Is the chance to block spells computed from the capped amount (75%) or the overcapped amount?
At the capped amount (75%).
Not sure on Cassock but I think it was something like 4-6 seconds.

I used to have this problem constantly on my PC which is quite outdated (2GB RAM, running 32bit Windows 7). After searching through the forums i found 2 solutions which fixed the problem for me.
>Windows XP Go to Control Panel then System Select the Advanced then Startup and Recovery Click the Edit button which will now open boot.ini Edit the following line "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect" So that it reads "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect /3GB" Restart your computer.
>Windows Vista or later
Open the command prompt (cmd.exe) with administrative privileges
Enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" and hit enter.
Restart your computer

Also: >In your Path of Exile shortcut, add -gc2 after the shortcut, so it looks something like: Target: ["C:/Program Files/Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile/Client.exe" -gc2] source
The penalty stopping at level 68 isn't specifically due to what level maps start, that was the cut off before 2.0 as well. The penalty does not take effect until your character is two levels higher than the area level. The full line he was quoting was:
> For the purposes of this penalty, your level is never considered to be higher than 68. Therefore a level 75 character receives no penalty in a level 66 area.
Which was from a mechanics thread in 2011
YOU are always considered to be level 68, therefore a level 66 world area has no penalty.
Much higher.
According to Chris, Forsaken Master's concurrent record for players was 154k
But steams record show a peak of 24k
And this is the exact reason why we shouldn't take steam stats seriously as most of the user base is using the stand alone client.
That's my Explosive Arrow Shadow in the picture. I had roughly 1000 xp left to 100. We tried to get a picture of killing Merc Dom but he only gave 800+ xp. We then tried to get a picture while killing Normal Kuduku but he only gave 9 xp. So we finally got it on the third try by killing Cruel Kuduku.
Sev got a better screenshot than I did. This is my screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/AUJWDXL.jpg
My build was basically Muir's EA witch (/u/mcm375, guide at http://nicebuilds.com/?p=414), using the hunchback's starting nodes for extra ele damage.
I set a goal to hit 95 in torment and ended at 95 80%. I thought I had a little more to go before 100 but it turned out that I took much longer than expected.
I soloed 76-78 maps til 99, then ran a mix of 66-72 maps while rebuilding a map base. In the end I enjoyed running low maps so much that I only did 78 maps for around 50% of the final level.
My gear and skilltree are here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1216345/page/1/#p10888526
It was a great journey. I played mostly solo because 1) AU server, and 2) bad rota experiences with blithering idiots. One guy clicked on my 78 carto and said 'lol'. Also this way I get to set my own pace.
Gear choices: Devoto's was used mainly to get more movespeed, which directly translates to clearspeed for a good build. I don't usually run 20/20 support gems because with a 21/20 EA, what additional damage would you need? Might as well relevel gems for selling.
Cheers boys and thanks for the carry.
EDIT: THANK YOU OPA GUILDIES FOR GIVING ME MAPS AND CURRENCY ON THE WAY TO 100. Seriously, god knows I needed a boost every now and then when my stash was empty. Could not have done it without you guys. <333
We haven't planned nothing on the live servers - there are one month leagues that are still running as we talk. Once they're complete we'll announce more events.
With regards to creating hype "for nothing", the announcements were purposefully detailed and far-reaching because you only get one shot to give an initial impression of a game. If we did a small-scale announcement then very few people would have heard about it, rather than millions. On that day, we announced the Closed Beta, its timeframe and the selection criteria (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1242809).
I'd like to point out that it's possible (and totally legal) to have a macro that tells you socket colors!
When you press ctrl+c over an item ingame, you get a text-based version of it into your clipboard, which e.g. Autohotkey in turn can work with. This is used for example in the Item info script, but it would be easy to make a much lighter version that simply shows a tooltip with the socket colors.
I don't think it would work with items on the ground, but in all other instances mentioned (stash, trade, except poe.trade I guess, but that guy would be able to make a colorblind mode himself) it would at least give you the necessary information.
Of course it's more clunky than a colourblind mode, but better than nothing...
He has played a role in designing multiple uniques. Not just one...
Quoting Brother Laz from a forum post:
Hey again. I'm back with another build and a video to showcase it. Due to the upcoming wipe I can't show the true potential of this build but I thought I should demonstrate its core ideas, much like with The Restless Trapper. If you like these videos, be sure to let me know how I can improve them.
This is essentially an evolved form of the standard Poison Arrow build with a few twists.
Passive Skill Tree - Designed to be scaled down to any level
Cloak of Defiance (Mind over Matter), life and mana regeneration stacking, and newly added flask modifiers on the tree for a high potential HP pool with constant recovery
Chin Sol in the alternate weapon slot for Puncture, which is heavily buffed by stacking numerous modifiers (many of which double dip)
Arctic Armour, Abyssal Cry, a 12 second Rallying Cry, and near-constant uptime of Quartz and Quicksilver Flasks for both their offensive and defensive boosts
Potential to use most of the best ways to scale Poison Arrow and Puncture damage: Rallying Cry, up to 9 Frenzy Charges, up to 8 jewel sockets, Drillneck, The Blood Dance, Vaal Lightning Trap, Vulnerability, etc.
Potential for nearly capped pierce chance without the Piercing Shots cluster, due to Drillneck (10% chance to pierce), the new unique jewel Poacher's Aim (15%), and the Pierce support gem (70% at level 21) for 95% chance altogether
If anyone would like me to explain things in further depth, let me know!

I literally just finished my post about map drops in the forums, same experience as you.
Copy pasta for those who can't visit the page:
For this Black Friday weekend only (Friday-Sunday PST), we're discounting ALL microtransactions by 50%! Yes, this includes Stash Tabs! This is the largest discount we've ever done, and is in celebration of both Thanksgiving and our recent Torment/Bloodlines/PvP announcement. Rest assured that this discount isn't coming round again any time soon. Thanks again for your generous support and have a great weekend playing the new one-week leagues!
It is not allowed. I sent an email to GGG Support asking about a "Auto hold shift key when i press right mouse button macro".
Here was their answer:
>Hi there!
>Thank you for contacting support with this request. In this instance, the macro you have provided in your example would be not allowed, as it performs more than one action per button press. Macros are only allowed if it is manually controlled and performing one 'action' per use. It's bannable if it performs more than one action, or if it's on a timer.
>Chris's post on this rule can be found here(https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/473902/page/6/#p4197749). Basically we want to avoid anything that provides significant advantage over other players.

>Kind Regards, Tom
There were builds that actually capped out coc's rate limit of 0.01 second. Those actually also got hit by a pretty much 80% less damage from the change to 0.05 seconds.
Build in question: My first one ever.
This hideout shows a darker side to the forsaken masters. After searching for years Zana finally found the lost laboratory of the Archbishop Lazhwar. This was the place where he created the very first map device which would later inspire Malachai's Eternal Laboratory.
Consumed by greed Elrion, Haku, Catarina and Zana took over the ruins and brought in slaves to harvest the worlds created by Lazhwar before he was burned at the stake.
Connecting the original map device to a train track they are now able to empty the hidden worlds and hoard amazing amounts of wealth.
Edit: Would love it if people left a message in the hideout forums of what they think: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1367772
Look up my build ! ign is vachadavidz, you should be able to see my gear and spec on the website. Currently lvl 96 as facebreaker, 75% block 73% spell block. 40k ish dps ice crash, 5k life and some regen. unless i get super bad rng i cant really die (Reckoning + riposte linked to life leech + life gain on hit)
EDIT: even got you the link: https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/vachadavid/characters
Take a look at unique chests vs rare chests for example.
Instead to opt to fix rare chests by making them suck less (as seen by that laughable comment that " https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1290356"
> Life mods have had their sequence extended at both ends. The old level 1 mod has been moved to level 5, as 10 to 19 life is too much to get so early.
BULLSHIT. More like to balance out the fact that we get a free affix they shoved another garbage mod to drag out it.
Instead we'll make unique chests more RARE. That'll fix rare chests right! I guess if using more more rare chests = rare chests better that means you've accomplished that!
From an announcement:
> Divination Cards are a new type of item that drops from monsters you encounter while playing The Awakening. Sets of cards can be traded to the Act Four NPC Tasuni in exchange for the item referenced on the card. Each card type drops in specific areas of Wraeclast, so careful choice of where to play allows you to maximise your chances of obtaining the desired item.
> Once we've mutually decided a name, flavour text and reward item, we take over the process. We'll create art for your card, balance its rarity, determine how many you'll need to complete a stack, and assign it to drop in specific locations. It's important that these decisions are left to us because they're integral to the balance of Path of Exile.
GGG mentioned that there would be a large re-balance to to game pacing so I am not too woreied about power creep. Just look at how they nerfed health into the ground just after closed beta and Onslaught leagues. They re-buffed it since but they are constantly changing the meta, nefing old things and making new ones viable. They will probably nerf a lot of the skills/effects that are powerful before Act 4.
" a completely re-balanced game experience from the very first level. " https://www.pathofexile.com/theawakening/ in the new era portion at the bottom

Official GGG response regarding frame-time farming
> This is one of those cases where we don't want people to do it, but we can't really stop them. We can ban people who consume way too much server resources (by spawning masses of areas), but merely glancing at the graph occasionally isn't really something we can or should ban for.
> Our solution will be to fix it from a technical point of view. Until then we'd prefer people didn't use this farming method, but as long as it isn't causing server problems, it's unlikely to be bannable.

I have always interpreted the description that used to be on the https://www.pathofexile.com/game page as "we encourage and welcome huge fucking assholes" so that isn't surprising. What is surprising is that I still play the game despite that.
I started the Circe project a few days after the shotgun removal news. Planning out the best setups, and ideas possible so I could be prepared. Boy was I wrong, this took many sleepless nights and help from two people in particular LordSidro and Tom94. Without their help this shatterchuck successor would not be possible.
Guide: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1343523
The guide is just an outline, giving the crucial build details so people can start enjoying their shatterchuck builds. Will be more in-depth ASAP.
State of Beta 4:
"We have a couple of reworked skills (Punishment and Shock Nova) we hope to be adding, as well as the completed leech changes."
Qarl (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1280221)
The attack speed is irrelevant. This build works on movement speed. Cyclone works like this since the change in 1.3.0 >Cyclone now attacks slightly slower and has an equivalent increase to damage. It now deals damage immediately when it is used, in addition to periodic damage. Cyclone no longer targets enemies, only locations.
Willy made a video explaining it.
If you append /filter-account-type/staff
onto a thread URL it'll cut out all the riffraff and let you see what GGG is up to.

Edit: I am also glad to hear about the weapon effects. I'm still bummed that I missed out on the regal and divine effects. D:
I actually messaged GGG a couple weeks ago about mobs disappearing and turning red. I noticed it happening a lot in the Collonade map. I am playing a poison arrow (non trap) build.
It's explained in this thread under "Smaller Issues" https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18346
"Mouse-over highlighting and/or layered effects (Blood Rage, Burning, Frozen, Shocked, Elemental Skeletons, Magic and Rare monsters) can cause unusual effects on the character or monsters, or make them all red."
Apparently its on their to-do list for bug fixes. It's been there a while now so who knows how much longer its going to take
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1014107 I've found some info on your topic here, seems like it goes LRL, and then LRL again. In short, always equip your best weapon in the L slot when using multistrike as it will hit 4/6 times.
If you plan on buying the Pumpkin head and the Rolling head (for 250pts) instead buy the bundle for 240 pts! It even comes with 4x pumpkin decorations for free!

This is the thread you are thinking of. Lots and lots discussed in it already but Rhys does drop a few hints in there.

I think it's actually easier to just check the poe forum unique thread :
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/475284
it gets updated pretty fast after a unique is found and they only show actual links for the items so there is no chance for trolling ..
This is a pretty standard cyclone build going for high life and some life leech + axe damage in the skill tree.
It is the build I'm using in my 70+ map boss guides.
I've had great success with this build being able to do any map mod, I have not had to reroll a single map over hundreds of maps, if the quantity/pack size was good, I was able to roll the map whatever the mod combo.
Forum link for Skill tree, Gear and Gems used.

If you have any questions, just ask, even if you can only watch the short forum version and the question is already answered in the video, I'm glad to answer anything so people with no access to youtube now can also chime in.
Quoting TheAnuHart here, which sums up my view of the map system:
"I have no issues with being required to beat hard maps in order to advance, it's the way one has to produce those hard maps that's the problem. That being, by investing several times more currency than will drop, ergo.. currency that several other people find.
Now, if the maps actually dropped the currency."
"So, if those that are failing at map progression because they are failing at rolling and failing at buying maps, then conform to the map progression 101 methods and both use 4 chisels, alchs, chaos and a vaal orb.. just where does this currency come from? If everyone simply buys these cheap maps, just where do they come from, continuously at a cheap price?
TL:DR There's only a successful way to progress if more people are unsuccessful."

I have two Freezing Pulse setups, one for single target and one multi target. Single target is in my Geofri's and is FP - Added Cold - Cold Pen - Spell Echo. Multi target is FP - GMP - PCoC - Cold Pen - Spell Echo.
Was thinking of writing a guide but wasn't sure how much interest there was in a pretty standard FP build.
there is a topic i made talking about this in the feedback forums with +1700 views and +45 replies , maybe if we draw even more attention GGG realizes how screwed up the system is. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1343590/page/1
It's a loot filter! They're new. If you're interested, there's a guide for how to use them and a list of a few community made ones that you can use here.
Anything that relied on self-curse punishment is kind of fucked. In my case, it would not be too difficult to just swap a few pieces of gear and run crit cyclone to make up for the damage loss, but it is still a dissapointment. Prolif and leech changes would have hit pretty hard, but the punishment change makes it simply non-functional.
Some of you might know that I already posted a piece of fan-art depicting Maligaro killing Geofri in the past LINK, there was no visualized "canon lore" so I had to imagine many things.
Well with the new comic chapter out, we have official legitimate visual references for this historic Wraeclastian incident! Turns out Malachi was there too. And turns out Maligaro's Etcher was an actual spike, not some weird acid-spraying contraption as I first imagined :P.
This was completed over the last day or two. Again, key references are from the latest issue of the official POE comic LINK. Check it out, it's fucking awesome.
Compressed 2B charcoal on paper. ~3 hrs.
Edit: Yeah oops should have tagged it with spoiler. Sorry! Thanks for the tagging mods.
Try typing /remaining - If there's more than a few monsters remaining then it's like there's still an area in the instance you haven't searched yet. If you clear everything and find you still can't progress, please walk up to the obstruction and type /bug - then take a screenshot of the number that appears and post it to our bug reports forum here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/bug-reports
> So overall, I do expect leveling to 100 would be faster in 2.0.
Considering the world first 100 ever took 2802.933 Hours, I think that's a fair statement. I don't want to minimize Etup's achievement at all...it's absolutely amazing! But it took less than 1/10 of the /played time of what it used to take back in the Anarchy/Onslaught days.
How do people get so much Health?
I only have like 3600 HP.. All my gear has 70+ hp on it and I have stacked HP nodes out the ass

Youtube timestamped link straight to the small map demo : https://youtu.be/u3VhueCDkac?t=21m1s
I'm going to sleep pretty soonish but I'll definitely reply to every comment when I'm awake if there's any questions or if people would like to discuss certain parts of the build.
EDIT : whoever posted the first comment on this reddit thread is shadowbanned, might want to make a new account or contact reddit about lifting the shadowban.
I beat Malachai in one try with a flame totem + flame surge templar. Skill tree. Self found crappy gear still yielded >1400 hp 200 es. Tooltip dps on flame surge + spell echo was >1800. I think I dipped below half hp twice during the 4 minutes it took to kill him.
That said, it was still a tough and scary fight. I spent most of the fight avoiding the ground tentacles. The best time to attack is when he does the giant tentacle cone; I used flame dash to get behind him and then spammed everything.

> Hi,
>We will shortly be wiping, and then deploying with the additional Act 4 areas.
>At this time the only new skill being added to the beta is Magma Orb.
Each individual spark could always not hit the same target again until it bounced once at which point its memory of which targets it had hit since its last bounce is cleared. That has been made into a global memory now, so after any spark bounces all memories are cleared and targets can be hit again.
EDIT: Source, see the second ~~red~~GGG post.
Take a look at the Path of Exile shop. They have a lot of weapon and spell effects that seem to do well enough for them. I don't see any reason Blizzard couldn't do the same with Diablo.
Actually, Golden Spectral Throw is different from Seraph Spectral Throw. The Seraph effect is the one that turns your weapon into a wing that spins flatly and looks like a banana. The Golden effect just makes your weapon glow yellow-ish instead of ghostly white/blue when thrown.
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/549432 here is a great currency guide.
In short:
1) Do not waste currency on low level items since you will not get the best rolls, and will out level them sooner then when you get the required currency to roll the next
2) Buying is usually better then crafting since there are a lot of possible outcomes and randomness will usually make it hard for you
The players have decreased since many players got bored of the 4 month challenge leagues. I play solo though so I don't give a shit.
Same as always. They added guilds and notes for friends which help.
Maps, PvP is growing in popularity.
Self found is what I do 95% of the time unless I really need a weapon upgrade, then I buy. It's perfectly easy to self find up to 70 maps. And grind? You do remember that this is an ARPG right?
There is more build variety, although Bringer of Rain is currently the most OP and has been for a while.
Have you even visited https://www.pathofexile.com ? Seriously.
>character size is a purely cosmetic stat, it doesn't change the collision radius of the character, just the size the model is displayed at.

No guys, this is not on a legacy league. This is on tempest:
https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Angryweasel/characters
And trust me, even on legacy leagues, it's impossible to get the tooltip to show more than low 200 IIQ. 300+ is impossible.
I don't see any tempests increasing IIQ by that much either. So if this is not a photoshop, I have no clue how it's done.
EDIT: looking at his gear and gems, he has 12 IIQ and 214 IIR, meaning that somehow he's getting an additional 300 IIQ and 1 IIR. (the 1 IIR could be due to him leveling his IIR gem, or blessing his amulet). Is there a tempest that gives 300 IIQ or something? According to the wiki, enlarging tempest seems to give:
>monster_dropped_item_quantity_+% 300
So I guess it shows on tooltip too? This seems like the most plausible explanation.
It's time for another Developer Q&A! Our last one was held in late February and was quite popular. Please post questions in this forum thread. We'll post the answers in the news on Thursday NZ time.
Here are some guidelines for questions:
We aren't going to talk about the specifics of future content. We're happy to talk about current hot topics like Master Metamods, but we aren't going to answer any more questions about inter-player drama. We recommend phrasing your questions in a constructive way. Please check that no one has previously posted a substantially similar question. If you're looking for ideas for non-standard questions, consider questions about day-to-day life at GGG, what it takes to get into the games industry, what games we've been playing, and so on. We'd love some variety so that there are questions that interest many different types of players.
Thanks for all the questions. Answers will be posted on Thursday - three days from now!
quad core 3.4ghz i3, 8gigs of ram, GTX 650, 840 pro ssd. zones with rains take twice as long to load and the fps drops sub 10 for the first few seconds while it loads everything. A few months ago people posted about how a hack could remove particle effects. tried it, immediate fix. Chris claimed a few weeks later that they've checked and there is no issue with the rain.
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1188231
However anyone who tried the hack would know the truth, and it's is very clear, not some "1%" load bullshit number, but literally double the time in seconds.
Valid question. Way too many Twitch streamers are not open when they get paid to promote. They lose credibility by doing it and not telling the viewers.
From a Google search Hunter Pence interest seems legitimately interested, though..

I planned out 2 builds for Ice Crash, one which is already proven super tanky before (1h+Aegis): https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/868995
And a crit staff one: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1289037
take a look and feel free to ask anything you're not clear with.
We're starting the Warbands and Tempest Challenge Leagues alongside the release of The Awakening on July 10. These challenge leagues contain eight difficult challenges. Today's news post reveals full details of those challenges! For more information about Warbands, Tempest and their prizes, check out this page.
Note that the following list (especially names and numbers) may change slightly before release.
The eight challenges are:
Spark is actually buffed by the mechanics change:
> Currently, each spark has it's own memory. When spark 1 hits something assuming it pierces and thus doesn't end there, Spark 1 marks that in Spark 1's memory as a thing it can't hit again. Spark 2 and Spark 3 from the same volley are unaffected by this and maintain their own memories. Whenever any spark bounces, if it hasn't just hit something immediately before that bounce, it clears it's memory and can now hit all those things again, because it doesn't know it already has any more.
>Removing shotgunning means that memory is global for all projectiles in the volley. When spark 1 hits an object, it records that thing in the shared memory, and spark 2 and spark 3 can no longer hit that thing. When any of them bounce, if they haven't just hit something immediately before that bounce, they'll clears that shared memory and all of them can now hit all those things again, because they don't know they already have any more.

They were idiots for calling it DLC. Just look at what other popular games which gain income from cosmetic skins have:
https://www.pathofexile.com/shop
https://eu.battle.net/shop/en/product/heroes-of-the-storm-founders-pack
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/store
Despite the high prices, see the word DLC anywhere? I don't.
Evolve skins probably cost a few hundred bucks for everything. All these games would cost considerably more if you really wanted all 'content'. But there are barely any complaints because a) they're free-to-play b) they call them 'cosmetics' or 'skins' or similar, not DLC.
The gaming community in general has a negative gut-reaction against DLC, and Evolve offering massive amounts of day-1-DLC on top of a full-priced game was sure to attract flaming, even if the cosmetics/DLC are entirely ethical (no day one gameplay advantage). And IT'S NOT EVEN TECHNICALLY DLC: all the skins are already downloaded and visible to all players, unlike actual downloaded maps which other shooters have.
I get the impression that everybody complaining about how GGG is spending too much time/resources/effort on PvP has forgotten about, or never read this post by Chris Wilson in regards to PvP, the price/payoff for them to work on it, and the amount of resources they used for it
Seriously, if you want to bitch about PvP that's fine, but stop pretending and spreading false information that PvP is adversely affecting the rest of the game.
PoE is an ARPG that focuses heavily on its unique skill and item systems. Easily hundreds of hours worth your time. And its totally free with no pay 2 win aspect. See https://www.pathofexile.com/game for more info
I'm aware poe.trade isn't affiliated with GGG. I'd just like for there to be some way to get rid of these useless entries in the index.
Title for the OP isn't very good.

Damn shame. I was pointing out how he abuses poe.trade on his shop.
