I'm the creator of the ad-free and open source Slide for Reddit, which has become one of the most popular 3rd party clients on Android over the last year, and is coming to iOS soon!
In high school, I started Slide with little development experience as a learning exercise, but my project ended up gaining a lot of popularity in the Android and FOSS community pretty quickly, and I ended up teaching myself everything I currently know about software development, UI design, customer service, and marketing. I am now studying software engineering (and have a part time marketing and photography position) in college, and creating other free and open source apps. You can AMA here if you'd like or I can do a more official AMA later this week if you're interested :)
I've installed Slide for reddit in the last week and have to admit that's the best reddit app I've used so far.
The really enthusiastic dev is the icing on the cake.
I don't think there is any reddit app available without a free version. Just try them out and see if you like it. I personally like Sync because of its UI and how it implemented material design. The image previews are very nice as well.
Link me: Now for Reddit, Relay for Reddit, Sync for Reddit, Slide for Reddit, BaconReader, RedReader
The article says that since 2013, the holes have been fixed. A lot of them are exploits through Chrome, about twenty major versions ago. Considering any user can download Chrome, if they don't have it stock, this potentially closes most of the gaps.
Chrome Custom Tabs power the Google app, so anything you search for using the app is "protected" by the mentioned fixes. Aside from that, a wide variety of third-party apps use Chrome Custom Tabs (one of my favorite features of Slide, for example), so any content viewed through them is also theoretically, "safe".
According to the list of affected devices, any user who is either on Android 5.0+, or uses Chrome is some capacity (be it Custom Tabs or as your browser), isn't affected by the exploits, as Android and Chrome already contain the fixes for them.
Slide - hands down the best client for Android ;)
All others are not even close :p
And it gets better over time, almost every week :D
Your link still shows the old icon. I was rather confused as to how it obeyed the rules. The Play Store shows the clever new icon.
Slide for Reddit, free, no ads. Alternatively, Infinity, also free and ad-free
team pixel gang!
Also, if that's Sync for Reddit, you should try out Slide for Reddit. I found it better than Sync and it's open-sourced/ad-free.
Looks best in dark black mode too.
Personally, I do like the top option because the colours really pop. However, the current one feels more complete for the sole reason that Snoo's head isn't cut off.
If you kept everything within the circle, like in #3, it might feel better. The Snoo used in #3 doesn't get my vote because the head alignment and size cuts too much and #1/2 feels odd with Snoo's "cheeks" cropped out and just dangling there outside the circle.
Actually the more I look at it, #1 and #2 have a Snoo+Android head hybrid feel to it; I'm not sure how I feel about that. The original may be to the point and the radio waves give it enough uniqueness it needs.
Tough call.
And looking into it further, Slide for reddit has a similar design but orange and more "slide"-ey.
Both are totally awesome apps!
Slide for reddit works really well on a tablet (ie. multicolumn support) plus the developer is active with adding a number of cool ideas I've not seen elsewhere (colour-coding, multireddit editing, flair support, image only browsing, among others). On a phone though, Relay seems to suit me better, so go figure.
switched from sync to slide
no ads is no ads and general feel and experience is the same, maybe even better... love the cashing of some subreddits for offline browsing
Depends on how you're using reddit.
On old reddit on desktop, with Reddit Enhancement Suite:
In addition to filtering by flairs, you can filter keywords in post titles by searching for "keywords" and repeating the process (you can also just scroll up, since it's a little ways above the flair filtering section). For both keyword and flair filters, you can also restrict the filtering to LSF (so if they make the national news and hit the front page in a different subreddit, you'll still see that).
On mobile, I imagine most apps have a way to filter posts (unless you're using the official reddit app, in which case...switch apps). The exact steps will depend on the app, but in Slide for Reddit, I just go to Settings -> Filters and perform a similar process (note that you have to specify the subreddit for flair filters using the format subreddit:flair_text
, e.g. LivestreamFail:EsfandTV
).
It’s free, open source, performs well and is reliable. I’ve been using on different phones over the years (less powerful ones): it runs smoothly and is gentle on the battery.
In case you want the full version for free, you can get it from here on F-Droid, which is a legitimate repository of free open source software for Android.
I’ve used the F-Droid version for a long time before I decided to buy the full version on the Play Store to support the developer.
Slide for Reddit is a very nice, free (as in freedom) and open source one, if you care about that. Also available on F-Droid.
Slide for Reddit. My absolute favourite.
I use Slide for Reddit. It was made from scratch by an awesome developer who spend a lot of time listening to the community and improving the app for being the most functional one.
It has the two features that you are looking for.
Edit: Link of the client Slide for Reddit - Playstore link. And it's also Open Source!
Slide is my personal favorite. It's has tons of customization and is one of the few apps that changes the nav bar colors to match the notification bar.
If you use Android, the Slide for Reddit app can upload straight to imgur and paste the link into your comment (or post) for you. I imagine other apps can, too, but I can't say for sure.
Also, don't get me wrong, I hate imgur as much as the next guy. A once useful site had to sellout to stay alive and it shows. I don't blame the original creators for doing so, it just sucks for all of us. Fortunately, I never actually have to visit the site. :D
In theory, at some point, you should be able to upload images to Reddit easily, but I don't know when that's supposed to happen.
Wanted to keep my other comment clean of personal opinions.
I use Slide because being able to slide fluidly and flawlessly around the UI is a fantastic user experience. Customization out the wazoo. /u/ccrama is awesome. Etc., Etc.!
I use Slide for Reddit, It has a nice design, tons of features, is highly configurable to your liking and is open source. Oh, and no ads. :)
Slide For Reddit: I went from using relay religiously to sync to slide, and have tried RIF, Boost, Bacon, Redreader, FLow, and many more. I'm a huge fan of Slides UI, very intuitive and makes navigating a joy. With it's most recent 4.7.3 update, it's fixed a bug that was causing some lag and high cpu usage, and ever since it now on par with sync for smoothness/performance, but with a much better UI and feature set IMO. Highly recommend it. Linkme: Slide for Reddit [BETA]
Interesting, you're different from the usual /r/linux reader. Still, it's available on the Play Store, I'm not sure why you're having trouble.
Also, having an app not in the Play Store doesn't automatically make it bad, please stop thinking that.
I use the same, even bought the premium version (you can also get it for free on Fdroid). Moved from Relay to Slide and never looked back, it's just so darn beautiful.
Slide for Reddit also allows you to open a subreddit sidebar and edit your flair.
Currently Android only, but /u/ccrama has been hard at work on the iOS version. /r/slideforreddit
/r/slideforreddit (Play Store link) and /r/relayforreddit (Play Store link) both have excellent mod options, as does previously mentioned Sync. There are honestly no wrong answers when it comes to picking an Android client, so I recommend digging around the settings of each and seeing which fits your style best. They're all super customizable, and Slide can even mimic the look of RiF with the right setup.
Don't see the link. Can you please confirm?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Does any of the browser activity go through your server, or does it all stay on the device?
At first I used Sync and Relay because everybody said they're awesome... but I don't like them, after checking almost all reddit clients I finally found <strong>Slide</strong>.
It's just everything I needed, it has endless customization options and really nice features all other clients don't have or are not that good. It's "just" in beta stage, but I never had any issues and it gets better with every update, which you see almost every week :D
Give it a try :)
I honestly think that Slide for Reddit has one of the best UIs available. It gets updated frequently, and the developer is pretty active on IRC for issues.
Baconreader was alright but it's not a great reddit client. Try something like Slide for Reddit, among many things having working spoilers
I can't recommend Slide by /u/ccrama/ enough. Beautiful design, offline mode, lots of customization and options. Beautiful slide between each posts makes for a very fluid experience. Switched from Relay recently. Purchased the pro version almost immediately to support the dev!
Copy and pasting this so you see it too:
Try Slide. It is open-source, which is reason enough that you should support it over the other Reddit clients.
But not only that, it will blow your mind with its levels of features and customization.
And all for free with no ads:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
No ads (for free) if you use Slide for Reddit or Infinity, or any of the other apps if you pay for the respective in-app to get rid of ads.
Just to add if the OP is interested, you guys may want to check other better alternatives as a front end for reddit.
Both have much more features like multi-accounts, easy to save videos, and the best thing is that these apps are FOSS.
I just discovered the sub a few hours ago while looking for a post keto maintenance strategy. Hope to hit my goal and stop keto by start July.
I don't visit /r/keto much anymore except for the progress pics. I have a multireddit for keto posts on Slide for Reddit App that I scroll casually every morning for posts with images.
It's kinda hard to revive a dead sub without active advertising with help from mods of /r/keto. It's also not possible to combine both subs, one has to die for the other to grow otherwise there's always going to be fragmentation
Slide. I have tried basically every client and keep going back to this one. I tried Joey recently and found it to be close, but it requires you to install additional third-party applications in order to gain basic features that other clients just have baked in.
Happy cakeday.
You're using Reddit on mobile in a web browser? Yikes. I'd recommend checking out something like Slide (Android, iPhone/iPad) and having a much better time.
Eu uso o Slide for Reddit e acho o melhor app
Yes, Slide is free with no ads. You can download it from Google Play or F-Droid.
For Reddit, I cannot recommend SLIDE enough. I really liked ReddPlanet for wp and Slide allows me to customize it that it's almost like RP.
The two that I love are Slide for reddit
And Boost for reddit
>Slide for Reddit is a feature-packed, material-designed unofficial browser for Reddit with an easy to use UI and tons of customization. Slide is ad-free, open source, and is packed with many unique features! Slide is for everyone, with a broad array of features for power users and sleek design for minimalists.

> How on earth am i supposed to click those on mobile with my sausage fingers.
Use Slide for Reddit with large links enabled? ;)
I have the paid version of both, but Slide takes the cake for me. Relay has really nice animations, but Slide offers wayy more customizations. It also natively supports colored navbars & picture flairs.
I've been using Slide for a year now, and it's the best client I've ever used. It's ad-free, open source and fairly customizable. And it's soon going to be available in iOS too.
10/10, definitely recommend.
Try Slide. I really like it. Just switched from my previous client that I've used for years.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccrama.me.slideyoutubeplugin
Uhm i have no idea what version that is seeing as the newest one is 5.4.2. Are you sure you are talking about "Slide for reddit"
Have you installed the app from the playstore here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide&hl
I'll put in a good word about slide for reddit. Active dev, great design, ad free, open source(and you can make it look pretty similar to flow). I've gotten so used to it that I don't even want to try out boost that much, but it's great to see another contender.
It's an open source Reddit client. Typically, Reddit clients reimplement pretty much everything about Reddit themselves, so bullshit client-side changes on Reddit doesn't affect them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide&hl=it
The Reddit app uses chrome under the hood for displaying pages. Use the slide app for Reddit and you can set which external browser you want.
Go to your profile. On the right where it shows your karma rest your mouse pointer on the number displaying your total karma. It will now display the Post Karma and the Comment Karma. These instructions are for the desktop/web version. Don't know about the app and mobile web version.
Btw if you want a good Reddit app I recommend Slide for Reddit. I checked out the official one and a couple of unofficial ones and that one came across as the best one.
I used ReddPlanet on my phone (and still do on my laptop). When I transitioned to Android for my phone I got into Slide for Reddit. It's not "just like" ReddPlanet but it's close enough and its ad free.
I seem to be the only person who likes to be able to see both the post content and the comments in the same view, and be able to navigate from one post to another from the comments.
The official app does this, but everything else about it is (was, when I last used it) crap. I use Slide for Reddit
I would add Slide to that list. Personally I'm on Sync now, have been for about a year now, but I loved Slide when I first started using Reddit. Boost is also a great app, honestly, these three are top notch, I've just grown used to Sync. All of them have a set of unique features but neither is lacking in any way.
I have tried a few different apps and have stuck with Slide for Reddit and Joey for Reddit the longest.
Slide for Reddit works in a similar way -- it opens the source when you click on the thumbnail and opens the comments when you click on the title
Slide for Reddit and Sync for Reddit both do this. I personally use Slide and use this when i'm eating all the time. Might only do top comments, though.
Some apps might have the ability to tag users, I use Slide for Reddit which has a tag user option but not sure about the other apps out there.
How do you like the Shield tablet? I used to have one but I got rid of it because I found the battery would drain incredibly fast while in idle. I'd set it down and come back to a dead device an hour later.
Wooooooow hold on, you just need Slide, trust me, the best app, all other have here and there some cool features, but this one is the best of all worlds. I previously also owed and used an iPhone and reddit apps, Slide is really the best in comparison
If you're on an Android phone, use Slide for Reddit (/r/slideforreddit). An iOS version is coming soon.
Slide for reddit.
I'd suggest switching over to Slide for Reddit it plays any video file used here or /r/soccer in app. Much much better than the official Reddit app.
I use Slide for Reddit, It has a nice design, tons of features, is highly configurable to your liking and is open source. Oh, and no ads. :)
I highly recommend Slide. It has a night theme as well, you can set it up to be automatic, and is beautiful with tons of options.
No, the app is free. However there is a paid upgrade. Because the imgur functionality is actually part of the free app and not the pro upgrade, the slide dev might have found a loophole in the ToS.
<strong>Slide for Reddit</strong> - Free with IAP - Rating: 88/100 - Search for 'FX Explorer' on the <strong>Play Store</strong>. Look at all of the features now in the world and test the phones rigorously.
They're formatted as a link. Reddit sucks.
A solution is to use a real Reddit app. On Android, I highly recommend Slide for Reddit. Don't use the official Reddit app. It's terrible.
Reddit Slide has two different AMOLED themes, one that's pure black and one with a bit of contrast. I've used it and Relay for a very long time and I think both are excellent, but Slide is much more robust in terms of customization, imo.
I'd recommend Slide for Reddit.
Nice UI, pretty smooth and comes with offline.
Until DBrady (if he does) implements offline mode.
Slide for Reddit has the most mod tools out of all Android reddit apps, including cool features like 'remove with reason'.
If you haven't already, I'd give the latest version of Slide a try. The latest official update has improved speed and smoothness of everything like tenfold. :)
You downloaded the source code which needs to be compiled before it is able to run.
You can download the app from the play store here
Ich persönlich nutze Slide for reddit.
Forward about bias before syaing more: I have contributed time (testing) and resources (money) to the dev.
Slide for Reddit is amazing. Google Play page. You name a feature on the desktop version of Reddit and Slide is likely to have it (or more!). I honestly find myself hating Reddit on desktop (even with RES) and pulling out my phone to Reddit.
You can use free, libre and open source clients. They have no ads.
I just opened the mobile app because I remember that the flair is definitely visible on mobile and…
Oh my god, the UI is all handicapped! The video player is horrid, they removed flairs, scrolling for comments brings out another fucking post, like holy shit how can they fuck that up so much? Reddit managers are so fucking stupid, what the fuck, I can't believe it!
Anyway, you should uninstall that ad-filled trash and get an open source Reddit client like Slide or something.
I can also recommend Slide for Reddit it's been my go-to since Reddit sync changed it's design and added ads.
It's UI is the best of any Reddit app I've used and it's customizability is top tier
Holy shit dude thanks so much for this! I had given up on using the speakers on this thing! I recommend you check out the Slide reddit app for use on Dex since it will seamless change to a tablet interface if you buy the upgrade. Have you found any fix for the wonky trackpad mapping on this? The y axis is way too sensitive for me ever since the upgrade to OneUI 2.1 (I'm using a note 9).
I hope we're talking about the same app: this is the free version I have https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Add the Pro upgrade key is here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.slideforreddittabletuiunlock
Take tabs in ViewPagers as an example. Slide for Reddit as an example app (spoiler, didn't work on it, nor did I see code). App has tabs that display reddits/mutlis. It's a universal list of similar items. But as they display different data they may have requirement to have ephemeral(non-persistable) states that are specific to sub/multi.
TL;DR It lies between a fully universal fragment and very specific fragment. If a specific fragment doesn't make sense due to a count or not fully 100% specificty - you may want a universal fragments/viewmodels with multiple distinct instances.
Slide ist mit Abstand die beste Third-party-App. Kostenlos, Open-Source, keine Werbung.
With a third-party app, yeah. (I use Slide on Android or iOS). You can filter by sub or flair, and do tons of other things too.
Depends on the app, but in Slide for Reddit, I just go to Settings -> Filters -> Flair filters, and then enter subreddit:flair_text
(e.g. LivestreamFail:JLPtalk
)
or use a reddit client that's not dumpster fire.
I use Slide for Reddit; it just works.
Hey guys, have posted about this a few times in /r/Android but haven't posted in APPriciatcion yet!
I've been hard at work developing Slide for Reddit, the free Reddit client.
Cheers!
pick your poison:
Slide for Reddit - free and open source, very customisable, good UI. the dev is very active and repsonsive in /r/slideforreddit. I think it's the only one on this list with free version that has no ads. there's a premium version but it adds only several non-essential enhancements (you should definitely support the dev, though!)
sync for Reddit - E Y E C A N D Y, lots of themes with ability to create and share custom ones. the dev is very active and responsive in /r/redditsync
Relay for Reddit - nice animations, gesture based navigation. the dev is very active and responsive in /r/relayforreddit
reddit is fun - many people prefer it because of moderator features. also the only client that allows you to buy gold via in-app purchases. the UI is... well, it has got a UI. I haven't used it in years so I don't know anything more about it.
Boost for Reddit - relatively new player, some users swear by it. pretty solid.
Slide for Reddit: My favorite Reddit app I've used. It's easy to use and very customizable.
Action Launcher 3: In my opinion this is the best launcher. It's updated almost daily and has lots of customization, although not as much as Nova.
Cornerfly: Adds rounded corners to you screen. I think it looks really nice.
Phonograph: Awesome material design music player.
Rad Pack Pro Icons: Really cool looking 80'a themed icons, widgets, and wallpapers. This is what my setup looks like right now. There is also a free version.
Love it! Switched from Sync for Reddit.
IMO slide is better, also open source.
Slide can open Tumblr posts as if they're images.
Try Slide For Reddit It Works Offline,Beautiful Material Design and Caches Most Of the data. Link To Slide
Use a Reddit client that auto loops it like Slide for Android or download the video and set VLC to repeat.
Play Store link, for those looking for it
Pardon me while I Slide right on in and kindly object to your assertion.
Reddit's mobile website is so bad, constantly bugging you to install their app. On my tablet I use the desktop site (new desktop UI is actually pretty great on tablet). Side-note but Firefox needs to natively support a permanent "desktop mode" for medium-to-large tablets, I never want to see garbage mobile sites on a 10.5 inch display.
There is a lightweight and open source Reddit client for mobile: Slide for Reddit. (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/me.ccrama.redditslide/ / https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide)
Slide for Reddit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
I use Slide for Reddit and am able to filter out users, subs, etc. Fwiw I switched over to Slide, from Baconreader.
Slide for Reddit has parent comment volume button navigation, along with many other features that Relay doesn't have.
Slide for Reddit for Android
Slide for Reddit for iOS
Slide (Google Play) (F-Droid)
Slide for Reddit is open source. I think it uses the gpl3 license.*
Try an alternative Reddit app, such as Slide for Reddit (optional video plugin).
If on Android and you still can't view them, go to Slide's settings and choose to open videos/images in external apps, and try using ImgurViewer (super lightweight/fast viewer app).
Slide for Reddit is also open source, for anyone who wants a more modern-looking app:
Yes. Slide is the best Reddit alternative app available. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
I use Apollo on my iPhone. I don't know what you would consider similar, but I've recently been happy with Slide for Reddit
Slide for reddit is somewhat similar to relay.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Exactly. I thought relay was everything I wanted in a reddit app until Slide came out.
Slide for Reddit has a great widget which lets you choose to display the front page or even a specific subreddit.
Why not both?
Slide does.
I got £200 worth of amazon coins from a glitch a few years back. I can tell you now, most paid apps are no better than their free alternatives. Some games can be worth it though.
I use my survey credit to purchase paid versions or in app upgrades of free apps that I appreciate.
Examples:
Slide (my preferred Reddit app - pro version is £3.13)
Swipe (Facebook web client + messenger rolled into one app - pro version is £2.59)
If you want proper one-and-done paid games, I'd suggest:
You seem to want to spend the credit simply because it's there. There are many good low priced budgeting apps out there if you want one.
I'm gonna be "that guy" and offer an alternative instead of any insight or other helpful information: Slide for Reddit
[](/sunsetjoy)And as I've recently learned, so does the free and open source Slide for Reddit!
If you are on Android, the Slide For Reddit app has an option to set it. playstore link
Use Slide, super intuitive and the developer /u/ccrama is very active in here and open to suggestions.
Get Slide for Reddit
>Sync for Reddit (best reddit client IMO)
As a better, imo, alternative, I'd recommend Slide for Reddit.
Slide for Reddit is also great. Open-source and has a really good variety of customization.
Well, this is the link for the app.
It isn't working atm, so I guess that the app is gone.
the reddit app is slide for reddit. It's in beta but pretty good.

Käyttänyt Slide for Redditiä yli vuoden, mutta tää vaikuttaa huomattavasti nopeemmalta. Laitetaankin testiin.
Not sure if you're on Android or iOS, but I highly recommend Slide for Reddit for Android users.
Slide for Reddit does it already.
Slide for Reddit, gratuita, senza pubblicità e sopratutto open source. Io mi trovo benissimo
Use "Slide". Ad-free, open source and didn't fail me once on my Nexus and One Plus.

Slide for Reddit is the one I always go back to. Also the dev u/ccrama is awesome and super active on the r/slideforreddit sub
Slide, set to night (OLED) mode. It's a super feature-rich client, though it can be a bit buggy.
Slide is a great alternative for Bacon Reader. Since the 4.6 update it is stable enough to recommend.
https://redditenhancementsuite.com/ for all your alt switching needs...in a browser.
On mobile I use Slide, which also allows for multiple accounts and fast switching.
I think some of the other 3rd party mobile apps also allow multiple accounts and fast switching. No idea on the "official" client though.
Slide for Reddit is lightweight, free, no ads, open source, very configurable.
Just use Slide for Reddit. It's free and open source!
slide for Reddit is good too

Slide for Reddit. I personally like Reddit is Fun more but I don't like it for moderating.
You can do that in slide https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Fair enough. If you're on Android, I would recommend Slide for Reddit. :) ^(Coming to iOS Soon™)

Slide for Reddit can do this.
I don't know about Flow, but I use Slide for Reddit . I like it quite a bit.
Helpommalla pääsee kun lataa vaan toisen reddit-clientin esim. Slide.
Slide (/r/slideforreddit) is pretty great. I'd rank it on par with or a bit over Relay.
Slide for Reddit is my favorite app. You can block specific users, subreddits, and sources.

Get Slide.
Or if you have iOS, try a different reddit reader.
I recommed you try out Slide for a day, then tell me what you think. IMO, it's AB on Android.
Slide allows this. Also Relay.
There are so many Android Reddit apps without ads. I recommend Slide for Reddit.
Pro tip: Slide for Reddit. Has pretty much made desktop Reddit (yes, even with RES) unusable for me.
It comes down to personal preference really. My personal favourite is Slide, but popular alternatives are Sync, Reddit is fun, Relay, or Boost (All the paid ones have free alternatives)
It's all about Slide for Reddit! Open source and chock full of features, including moderation tools! Play Store page

Ah, the removal reason is the thing that sends the message. It looks like this on New Reddit.
Reddit for Android doesn't have it, so you have to use a third-party client like Slide, copy/paste the removal reasons from the mod settings to Toolbox' settings then enable the Toolbox integration in slide and you'll have them.
lots of options, kind of curious which suits you. my hat in the arena is Slide.

And the answer is Slide for Reddit. I don't know if there's an iOS version, but this is the best Reddit client I found so far.
I have been pleased with Slide. Open source, ad free, nice customizations.
I've been using Slide on the Fold 1, and it has a lot of customization features, as well as a multi-column layout. Not sure if it specifically has the layout you're asking about with the message list in one column with the discussion thread in another.

I looked up online to see how you can filter out post. But it seems you can't do it with the official app.
However, I would like to suggest you Slide for Reddit.
This is the ones I used and it allows you to create filters to keep rants out.
However, it does take a bit of set up to do. There are problems that I've faced that requires you to go through the settings and fix it like images are cropped when in the comments.
If you do use Slide for reddit and install it:
If you still have questions, let me know.

I'd highly recomend downloading Slide if you are browsing reddit on mobile.
its far superior to their app or the shitty mobile site.
/u/corpsequeen96 Play store says my app version is 2020.15.2
But I switch between Slide for Reddit (I have pro version) & the normal Reddit app. For the most part slide is customizable and very nice / smooth to use. But some things I cannot find or doesn't let me do that then normal reddit app does. But slide has more features than the reddit app. But its also where I'm getting the error when I try to upload from my phone.
Check out Slide. It is open source and has no ads in the free version. It's got swipe gestures to navigate between subreddits and posts. It's also customisable and open source. If you like it you can get the full version for free on fdroid app store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Maybe it's the app? Slide, other Reddit Client
Thanks! Both Mariel and Yuna are often part of the team, so I think more light for either of them would be equally useful.
The option to enable/disable reply notifications is per post. I don't use the default reddit app, but I hear it lacks some features. You could either hop over to the desktop site or use a third-party app (such as Slide for Reddit, Sync for Reddit, etc.) that has more features.
Slide for reddit.

Yes, there is one called Slide which contains no trackers.
I used to use Sync for the same reason, but I found Slide for Reddit has incredibly good mod features. Stuff like toolbox removal reasons and (decent) modmail support. Overall, the app isn't quite as good as Sync but it's open source and has almost all the same features Sync does.
I use slide for reddit
What app are you using? Works fine on Slide (free open source Android app).
If you’re looking for a good mobile app for Reddit, I would highly recommend Slide for Reddit:
Or try Slide for Reddit. It's free and open source.

Slide for Reddit. free and open source, and very customizable
I'm a really big fan of Slide for Reddit It's great, customizable and hady clever and thoughtful controls whole maintaining a clean look.
Just use Slide for Reddit or some other app. You're able to save images and gifs/videos then. 3rd party apps are better than the official app anyway.
With the noted exception of Reddit's experimental stuff like r/pan and r/layer; you still need the official app for that.
Also there's ImgurViewer which is handy.
I use Slide for Reddit, I think it check all the cases you need https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide

Slide for Reddit allows you to DL your subreddit on wifi for offline reading and has a data management that reduce picture size. Dont know if that's what you're looking for, but AFAIK that's the only one who does that (offline reading) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Use side for reddit, far better than the original! Google play page
> how do I flair on mobile?
you can't.
You'll have to use a 3rd party app. I recommend Slide for reddit.
I'm guessing you haven't tried Slide for Reddit

I use Slide for Reddit it's open source, doesn't show ads and shows on each image where it's from.

I prefer Slide as my Reddit client. I have Sync Pro installed as well as a backup, but I find Slide works best for me. Regardless of what client you end up using, it will be better than the official app.

Slide for reddit (also available on f-droid). Free/Open-source. No additional tracking. No ads.
You should try Slide for reddit. It's definetly not the same as Dank, but there's a TON of features and is mostly gesture controlled. I've been using it for 3 years and I wouldn't switch. I tried Dank for a bit and, aside from the "swipe right to upvote/downvote" feature, I found that Slide offered me the same, if not, more than Dank.
What client are you using? Reddit in browser and Slide for Reddit, (my mobile client) both render mine just fine.
I did mess up the url copy pasta initially, but I edited it within a minute of the initial posting
Currently in Slide. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Slide for Reddit
No ads, beautiful interface.
Io mi trovo benissimo con Slide
Yes, definitely. I use your app to browse reddit but use Slide for reddit to download v.redd videos.
Slide for Reddit is amazing and can't stop using it.. so user friendly and customizable up the anus.
You should look into Slide. I personally find the experience on it to be a huge improvement over the mobile site. The app is FOSS and can also be found on F-Droid.
Of course, no nagging to use the official app anymore.
I would like to hear your thoughts on using apps over websites when it comes to mobile. Reddit and GitHub's mobile sites are just so inferior to the desktop versions that I use apps for both of them. In case you are interested, I use FastHub-Libre for GitHub.
Use Slide and the video plugin for it. Works every time.
As far as open source Reddit apps on F-Droid go, I strongly prefer Slide for Reddit. It's also available on the Play Store.
Try using Slide and the video plugin. It works really well for me.

That's the thing, I really don't think use it quite extensively :/
Slide for Reddit. It's the best I've seen AND it has no ads (unlike Reddit is Fun and most others). It's also open source, if you're into that.

Slide is the best I've found. It has a YouTube plugin that allows you to view the video without leaving the app! Very customizable and intuitive!
Reddit Slide for Android

Io mi trovo benissimo con Slide for Reddit
Try this, way better than the official app
Try Slide for Reddit. It's a really nice Reddit app with a good widget.
Get a better client? For example Slide for Reddit can change flairs of submissions (Google Play Link). Or post later from a computer?
Tally Ho!
Sorry for replying so late: it is the icon for Slide for reddit.
Slide for Reddit The best Reddit app out there, hands down. It's extremely customizable, comes with a dark theme, and no ads.
on Android I tested all the available reddit apps and i kept Slide, (the free version is far enough and there are no ads) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide&hl=en
on iOs device the Reddit official app works pretty good to me.
Lulz. That's hilarious. Also, what that guy said, [text](link). There are ~~a few~~ tons good clients for reddit also that have a lot of the ^"shortcode" built in. I use Slide for Android personally.
On desktop I use the Imagus browser extension, and on mobile the Slide for Reddit app.
This way the only time I need to deal with the interface of the actual website of Imgur, is when I want to upload some images. But I guess there would be tools for this too, if I had searched around a little.
Also in the XFCE desktop environment (for Linux) the builtin screenshot app supports uploading to imgur, so at least for screenshots I can use that.
If you're on Android, I would highly recommend Slide for Reddit. By far the best Reddit app.
Sub: /r/slideforreddit
Use Slide
I use the Reddit desktop site when I'm browsing Reddit on a desktop, which is pretty rare. I also use the mobile site sometimes, in case I want to see something on Reddit but have something else open in the best Reddit app out there: Slide for Reddit, download now! ^/ad
If you're on Android, do yourself a favor and use this marvelous app.
> Relay for Reddit is my favorite reddit app.
Give Slide a try.
>I wish you could follow reddit pages
Oh haha, now I gets it. You were wishing, but I thought you are already able to follow pages on reddit and you're wishing I could do that too (follow your page), that's why I asked how I should follow your page but didn't understand u said that as a wish. Actually I don't think that's even possible on Reddit. But as I mentioned there's this SlideForReddit Android/IOS app that has this feature that you can enable Notify for certain subs (like YouTube notifications) so you get notified when a post submits to that sub. But I couldn't get it to work and although I put it to notify me but it never does. I guess something's wrong with my push notifications or Rom you try it not for this but many other features although it's not completely free.
There's another feature that I really like about Slide, with my messed up memory, that you can tag people so you see the tag in a blue background in front of theirs post/comments so you understand that's he/she. You're "suidude with idea" in my book :P, and choice of sui is that I can remember that's from this sub. I mean that's not like I wont be able to remember this for always but that I have a pretty messed up memory for first encounter bit after a couple times seeing someone username/first name I will remember it.
Since you're on Reddit, you could just browse some NSFW subs with your favorite Reddit app. Slide has a nice gallery mode that could be useful.
Just insert a > before the text you want to quote.
For mobile browsing (Android), I strongly recommend the Slide app.
No the official reddit app is not the best app for browsing reddit. In my opinion. I use Slide for reddit. It has a free version without ads and a paid version also it comes with a lot more functionality than other apps.
It is really good that was my second app I used really good app. Probably tied for second. But i really missed the synccit and no good moderation features. But for just one device viewing it is amasing. I have tried most of the apps on the market here is a list of how I like them.

Dear /u/scribblenik, I strongly suggest you try Slide to browse Reddit. It's the best one I've tried so far, and I think I tried all of them.
Slide for Reddit is a rock-solid material-designed unofficial browser for Reddit with an easy to use UI and tons of customization. Slide is ad-free, open source, and is packed with many unique features!
Slide for Reddit. One of the best Reddit clients on Android right now.
I prefer slide as my Reddit app although sync and relay are also good. For shorter apps I would suggest you to use all google apps that you find use for. That way syncing between devices and other apps becomes easier. Also you maybe can get more use out of assistant. You can go through all the google apps here.
I haven't tried all of the Reddit apps out there, but I like Slide for Reddit so far. It's ad-free, open-source, and very full-featured.
For local music apps, I really like Phonograph. It's very beautiful and quite fast. Pulsar and Shuttle+ are also solid options.
Slide is probably the best Reddit app out there if you're looking for customization. Really active dev, too. 10/10 app.
Use of the loser flag is not okay but I'm still nice enough to suggest a reddit app called slide. The user experience is much nicer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide is the correct link
As i said, on samsung, even if the app doesnt support multiwindow, you can still make a floaty window which stays on top of everything. So you can have mobius running full screen and a floating window on top of mobius. I dont know how the android multiwindow will work though but on samsung it definitely works. Here are some examples
Somewhat small window in the corner
As big as i can make it before it becomes fullscreen
Generally you can move it wherever you want and you can resize it. And you can interact with both the game and the floaty window. Or just move/resize the floaty window so you can click on mobius buttons, etc.
PS I am using Slide to browse reddit
Slide For Reddit. Best Reddit client in my opinion. It's by far the most customizable with the most amount of options and view/layout types. Was previously a Relay for Reddit user and I find it much better :)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
love seeeing people on team slide
As you can see in this screenshot, your post has been flaired as Non-Standard
. This allows other to find this post easily far into the future when it's not longer on the front page of this sub (or even the first 10 or so).
Because of your upload link, I'm going to assume you're using the Reddit official app. It's pretty featureless and terrible. If you're on Android, I would definitely recommend something like Slide for Reddit. To avoid having to flair manually, you can use tags in your title and AutoModerator will tag your post automatically. For example, putting [1080x1920]
will automatically tag a post as 1080p
. Same thing with a tag like [Request]
.
Also, if you haven't already, please read the rules.
Robinhood. It's on Android and iOS. Also sorry for the late reply, I have Slide for Reddit looks for messages every couple days.
try Slide for Reddit
Earlier I had Rif , now I use slide for reddit on android, it's the best app for Reddit in my opinion. I know it's late and no one will probably see it but please check it out.
You can easily switch to the US App Store by making another account.
As for me, I've tried both apps, and I'm sticking to AlienBlue for now until most of the kinks are ironed out on the official app. That being said, the mobile site works pretty okay most of the time as well.
If ever you or anyone is on Android, Slide for Reddit is an amazing app. Ad-free and open source!
Slide for Reddit hat Flair-Optionen.
Slide for Reddit.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Slide for reddit is pretty good. I like the subreddit tab mode which makes it easy to switch between the same few subreddits.

Didn't we just get Slide for Reddit, now another reddit app that looks the same as the Slide app and the Now for Reddit app? Why? Relay for Reddit is great as well. We don't need repetitive apps.

I hope those links don't come up in finnish for you.
Don't know about iPhone but on Android "Slide for Reddit" is pretty much the same as WM10 Readit, i was surprised how many elements are similar/identical on that app.
For browsing: Try several browsers, they all have their pros and cons
Reddit: I really like Slide for Reddit
Music: I love Spotify so I stream music rather than having it locally saved, although you can also use it for local music. Alternatively I recommend n7 player
News: For "quick and easy" I prefer News Republic for all kinds of news, Appy Geek for Geek/Tech stuff. If you want more content and also more customization I can recommend using an Feedly account together with gReader
Misc: SwiftKey as an alternate keyboard app, in case you want SMS/Telegram/Facebook/WhatsApp/etc all in one app try Disa, in case you saw something somewhere and wanna save it for later (also for reading it offline), try Pocket (also great in combination with other devices or your PC)
These are all recommendations coming from me as a smartphone user, no tablet. But I think many of them would still apply.
Nobody seems to be recommending Slide For Reddit? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
It's really nice, proper material design etc.
Check out slide for reddit. It's beautiful and free.

Slide for reddit is my current favourite.
You should add a link to your flair to your subreddit if it's possible. I just started using it, seems to be a great app. For other looking https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide&hl=en
Android? If so, Slide has you covered, though the client's not quite done.
Slide for Reddit is probably the best Reddit app if you like a bit of customisation.
Hello /r/Android!
I have been working hard since my last post about Slide for Reddit, and the app has come a long way in about 4 months! I have over 1,000 amazing alpha testers, and we are excited to release to you guys Slide for Reddit Beta.
I will list out Slide for Reddit features and there will be a screenshot section at the end! Feel free to comment with questions, concerns, constructive criticism, or feature requests!
One of the biggest complaints from Reddit apps is ads everywhere. In reply screens, settings, and galleries. Slide aims to fix that, and I made the decision on day one to be 100% ad free FOREVER. I won't add them in later updates, and I don't require an In-App Purchase to get rid of them. The only IAP's I accept are donations :)
I based Slide for Reddit's UI off of the very popular Google Play Newsstand app. You are presented with horizontal pages of your subscribed subreddits which can be scrolled vertically. When you click the post, it expands outward into a full view with comments which can be swiped horizontally to get to the next or previous post. A simple back button click will return you to the vertical view. It's that simple!
Slide for Reddit focuses on Material Design, specifically color implementation. You can assign a color to anything. You can make /r/Android posts green and /u/ccrama blue! Change your favorite subreddits to a meaningful color for easy spotting in /r/all and the frontpage. Change the default color away from orange if you'd like. It's all up to you!
Slide for Reddit has all the major Reddit features baked in. Voting, saving, profiles, albums, images, gifs, Guilding comments, inbox, commenting, replying to submissions, comments, and messages, and post sorting are just a few of Slide's features.
For convenience, I have added casual subscriptions, which are subscriptions that you can view but wont show up on your frontpage!
I have also added Collections, which are like private multireddits only you can view and curate.
I have spent many, many hours working on Slide's UI. I wanted to create something intuitive, smart, and beautiful. I have implemented Google's Material Design spec into every inch of the app, along with animations and transitions that flow well with Reddit's content. Navigation between subscriptions is more than easy, and comments are just a single tap away. I have implemented Google's Design Support Library for Jellybean-Lollipop support so everyone can enjoy a little Material design :D
I spent lots of time on figuring out the best way to interact with comments. I decided on a single tap to collapse replies and a long hold to display a menu of options. I made commenting display inline with the comment, so you can view the parent and scroll down to your reply.
Another feature I spent a while on is AMA mode. What that does is collapse all non-top level comments that aren't by the OP. This is very useful in an AMA setting (view top comment and the Op's reply underneath) or a setting where viewing OP replies are important.
<strong>Screenshots and Gif</strong>
The app is close, but still has a way to go in the way of features and implementation of all my plans. I am releasing it in beta so you can test the app out and give me pointers and suggestions while I get the app to completion!
Roadmap: The following are my plans for the app in the next few months
Slide for Reddit is my first time developing an Android app. I am self-taught and do freelance web design, and recently started learning Java. Having a grounding in HTML and Java helped me tremendously in starting my app, and feel free to comment and ask for resources that I used along with any questions you have if you want to get started developing your first android app!
I will be starting college in the fall studying software engineering, and am really blessed to have the opportunity to study what I love and am excited to build on my development skills!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and thank you again to all my amazing alpha testers, especially those who have been with me since my first post!
If you would like to join alpha, click here.
If you would like to download from the Play Store (beta), click here.
Please respond with any comments, concerns, or feature requests! They are all welcome! Cheers! Have a great day :)
Hmm. That's strange. If this doesn't work Slide for Reddit, try leaving the beta testing and community and rejoining again.
I’m using Slide for Reddit on iOS, and it allows me to download videos and gifs (with sound too!) instead of screen recording like before. :)
It’s probably slightly different, but here’s the Android app!
PS: I have tried Apollo and other Reddit apps, but by far Slide does everything that I ~wanted~ it to do. :]

awww got downvoted :/
How's it compare to Slide for Reddit
Slide is the best IMO.
Your problem is that you are using BaconReader.
Try Slide. It is open-source, which is reason enough that you should support it over the other Reddit clients.
But not only that, it will blow your mind with its levels of features and customization.
And all for free with no ads:

I too went through all the apps trying to find a readit/baconit alternative. Bacon reader was no where near as good.
Slide though. Slide probably better than readit. I did have to go and change A LOT of settings to make it more readit-like, but there are so many settings to go through, worth a glance

It's definitely improved browsing Reddit on browser vs before. RES is amazing, but the stock Reddit look is just not my taste at all.
Shine reminds me of Slide for Reddit for Android. Except I feel like the Cards UI suits the extra space of a browser more than on a phone. I still think Sync is the best Android Reddit app, but Shine has made Reddit on browser much much better.
Also /u/TheTyGoss, thanks for making it work with RES for the most part. I was worried it would break if I used Shine.
If you're on Android, I would recommend Slide for Reddit. You can see sidebars as well as a plethora of other features that put pretty much all other experiences to shame. Reddit: /r/slideforreddit
^(~~All hail /u/ccrama~~)
Now is good, but slide for sure is the best.
You do have to go change a lot of settings, but you can make it just like baconit :)

Nice, apple devices are overpriced and very very meh. Have you tried Slide for Reddit? it's free, fast, looks nice, best in class gesture control, ad free and really really customisable. I can't recommend it enough.
The default Reddit app pales in comparison
As much as I love Sync, what you are really looking for is probably Slide for Reddit
Copy and pasting this so you see it too:

But Slide is so much better, many people (me included) switched to Slide from Sync: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.ccrama.redditslide
Doesn't seem to be Free Software, I'll stick to Slide for Reddit.
