Via r/AskReddit post here, room darkening shades are among the top items under $100 that are described as "life changing", to which I concur
Also another amazing investment I made was a white noise machine because I lived off a very busy intersection during my college years. The model I linked has been with me for a number of years and still works great! (Not a promotion lol)
You can get wood filament for FDM printers. Its a blend of wood and PLA plastic. Wood filament does a pretty good job of recreating wood and can even be stained.
Here's a link to some on Amazon.
I think this is mostly confirmation bias and it's easier to lose track of the amount you're drinking when you switch up drink types. It's pretty much all just about the amount of alcohol consumed minus food/water to compensate for it.
I just googled, and yeah it's a myth.
So it has to do with your drinking behavior when you personally mix drinks if that's your experience. And/or confirmation bias. Mixing types of alcohol doesn't change the physiological processing of alcohol.
hmmm... doubtful.

here's as close as we got to reading audio from an image. you'll see that the sounds need be to broken into multiple strings - because 1 sound-wave image itself simply shows you the level of volumes hit rather than the actual type of sound it's making. that is, if a person was to speak at precisely the same rythm and volume as a dog's growling murmur, you'd get the same image and it wouldn't be decipherable.
I donno if this us the book but "Enlightenment Now" by Steven Pinker goes into why things aren't as bad as they seem. In tons of ways its the best its ever been and that trend continues.
Here you go. I’m pretty sure my buddy is going to have a baby with his new wife in the next couple years. I’m going to fucking rule that baby shower.
People have read the book and confirmed that it just starts at 145. Also, we don't really waste trees anymore. We plant more than we take down.
edit: it is also a 224 page book. If it actually had 145 blank pages, it would be a remarkably short book. You can also preview the first few pages on amazon.

It's actually supposed to be a hug. 🤗 My version (Google) has the hands turned inwards. Although admittedly it sorta just looks like a smiley face rubbing his stomach contentedly.
He actually reads a lot of his own books, which is awesome. His voice is wonderful and listening to an author voice their own work in the way that they intended for you to take their message is a lot of fun. When you get a chance, listen to The Graveyard Book. It's probably my favorite of his narrations.

If anyone is interested in deeper reading on this topic I highly recommend looking into Stoic philosophy. One of the central practices of Stoicism is the internalization of goals - not having your goals involve the outside world, since you cannot completely control what happens there - even your own body. If your goal is not "I will win this tennis match" but rather "I will play to the best my ability," you will never be disappointed.
Check out /r/stoicism and also I would recommend the primer A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy.

The Sacred Bee in Ancient Times and Folklore by Hilda M. Ransome
No creature has provided man with so much wholesome food as the honey bee. Equally impressive is the number of beliefs and superstitions the industrious insect has inspired. Its honey, which was known to the ancient Greeks as the “food of the Gods,” played an important role in early religious rites and was also mentioned in the folklore of many peoples. Hilda Ransome's well-documented and copiously illustrated study of bees focuses on this valuable byproduct of nature and its creator — the "sacred" bee.
Chapters cover the folklore of bees and bee culture — from Egyptian, Babylonian, Chinese, Hittite, and other ancient sources as well as practices in modern England, France, and Central Europe. Thirty-five plates of rare black-and-white illustrations depict bees, hives, and beekeepers as they appear in ancient paintings and sculpture, on coins, jewelry, and Mayan glyphs; and carved into African tree trunks. Folk stories from Finland and the bee in America are also described.
Hailed by The New York Times as possessing an "oddity, beauty, and broad scholarly interest," this unusual book will attract a wide audience — nature lovers and folklore enthusiasts included.

There are a lot of free digital programs like GIMP that make coloring a breeze and can save on buying those expensive art supplies. Plus a lot of artists do most of their work digitally now/jumped into it. If you're still young and have time to learn, I recommend learning a bit about them. Start to draw a picture by hand, scan it in, color it and finish it digitally.

Actually, here's the game I played the most! Moon Tycoon. That website pans it hard, but I remember it really fondly. I suppose I had way different standards back then.

Oh, now I’m in a mood. Don’t get me started on fucking comic book shops. Because I’ll do it myself.
I have a really cute Deadpool skater dress I wore to Free Comic Day (where I live, there is a day that comic book shops have free little comic books to get folks interested, I don’t know if this is a worldwide thing) and the “bouncer” at the exit door was all, “Hey Harley Quinn!” I turned, confused, and said it’s a Deadpool dress and he fucking argues with me. Because “girls don’t like Deadpool, they just dress in hot stuff like Harley to get free shit.” On free comic book day, mind you, and I’d spent about $50 on stuff I wanted to read/have in my house.
Luckily the owner told him off because I’d been a customer for years. I was a little too gobsmacked to say much beyond, “Wait, what?”
It's still true. Choosing five random words as your password isn't going to be cracked by anyone other then a state actor, and they wouldn't use a dictionary attack anyways. Also it even says in the article you linked that a dictionary attack is pretty ineffective against passphrases. Lastly, a password is more likely going to be compromised from either reusing your password for multiple online accounts or a security breach in a company you have an account with (for example). Nobody is going to spend the time brute forcing a passphrase for one single user when they could spend that time trying to hack into a large company server unless you have some real serious shit.

Scout ants walk in random directions until they find food accidentally. When he comes back with food, other drones follow his scent trail. The repeated use of the trail makes it more and more defined, so more drones notice it (like how humans make trails in a forest accidentally over time)
I've been using KeePassX for a while now. You can use that on any computer you own whether it's a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine. It uses KeePass2 databases (.kbdx files) that you can also open in various other password managers, including Android ones (I'd assume there are some for iOS and Windows mobile phones but I honestly don't know).
It doesn't look very pretty but it does what it's supposed to. Only thing that I dislike about it is that it's using a folder structure instead of a tag structure for organising passwords, meaning you can't have the same password entry displayed in two different locations.

"To each according to their need, from each according to their ability" should about sum it up. And I agree that it is genius, simple yet complete. As for how to reach communism without a state, /r/anarchism, /r/anarchy101 and https://theanarchistlibrary.org/special/index are all great sources. I recommend The Conquest of Bread by Kropotkin for a good piece on Anarchist Communism and Are We Good Enough by the same if you're unconvinced on the 'anarchist' bit of communism in particular.
No, it's definitely "as all get out". Merriam-Webster lists it here. I don't count it as a shoddy online dictionary, since it's existed since 1843. Anyway, they state the first known use of "all get out" is 1879.
His name is Brad Montague. He's also behind Kid President. He has a new book out about this topic. I went to high school with him and can confirm he's the real deal.
It's not. There was a test done in the 1920's http://www.openculture.com/2015/01/the-little-albert-experiment.html It was known as the little Albert experiment. In this experiment, a little boy was conditioned to fear an animal (supposedly causing lasting effects) due to the loud banging sound the experimenters made while showing him the animal.
Due to condition, which is what gay conversion therapy was, I really do believe they conditioned me to like the opposite sex, or at least give it a try. I had only ever been with the same sex, and developed homosexual feelings at only 4 years old. I stuffed them for a long time because I knew my family wouldn't accept it. My family is very openly racist as well as homophobic. I was raised by Catholic Republican parents, but (it's kind of too late) now they're both democratic atheists. You can still catch their hateful comments now and then, but it's a more subtle. They haven't changed much, lol.
Anyway, so I was previously engaged as well to someone of the same sex, but my partner and I were both in high school. Before and after conversion therapy, we were together for a total of 5 years. At this place we were publicly shamed, given [unnecessary and in high volumes of] medication to the point we were zombies (we were all only in our teens, so this may cause permanent issues), I was manipulated by them to believe my high school sweet heart hated me, I was constantly told that I am not gay, and many more horrific events. People at this facility would attempt suicide and/or run away. There's actually someone still missing and their poster is still online. I do blame them for making me pansexual instead of 100% gay. I hate myself now for being me, or what they made me, and developed severely low confidence.
I'm sorry if there are spelling errors. My cat is sleeping on my arm, so it is difficult to type. Lol!

No I didn't. I just described what happens when you cut the tapered end off a hair. The overall thickness and shape of the hair is determined by hormones and genetics. But hair naturally grows in with a tapered end. When you shave you are just chopping off the tapered end and leaving a blunt tip that looks thicker. There is no way a razor blade can magically increase the diameter of that hair. It's just that you're seeing the thicker part of it at the end instead of the middle. It's like mowing grass. The idea that shaving causes thicker or darker hairs to grow back is an old myth.
https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/expert-answers/hair-removal/faq-2005842
https://www.webmd.com/beauty/features/shaving_your_legs_makes_your_hair_darker,_right
Plucking doesn't guarantee hair will grow back, it might even damage the follicle but if hair does grow back, it will have the natural tapered end. That's my point.
Vultures are super awesome. Recently when heading out to the cabin I saw a pack of em in a mating circle ritual. Got a few pics but they aren't that great unfortunately. Basically the vultures stand in a circle and take turns jumping around and swooping.

The cool thing about that is that it works like a normal faucet normally, but you pull the little thing on the side out to swap it to a fountain. And after you turn off the water, the button automatically goes back in so you don't spray yourself in the face tomorrow, haha
I buy stuff like this from the online store Hobbylink Japan, but Amazon also has it.
There is one! For Android anyway, it's called, perhaps very appropriately, Uncle Iroh, but includes quotes from all the major (and many minor) characters from both ATLA and LOK.
My quote for today was, "Zhu-Li! DO THE THING!" 😂
My Amazon order history is littered with these over the years. Thank me later.

I mean, how many internet devices were there 15 years ago?
But yes, it is a 'new normal'. According to Consumer Reports "six out of 10 U.S. parents of children ages 8 to 12... have provided those children with cell phones." That doesn't even include tablets.
On the accpetence part.
> It [homosexuality] is not a lifestyle, and is not itself driven by proper homophilia
First it is by defintion a lifestyle: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/lifestyle
Second, do you have any justification as to why you think that homsexuality isn't driven by homophilia (which btw is just an older word for homosexuality).
How is language bound to your particular definition? You need to step back and look at the whole picture. The ability to comprehend one's feelings is more than enough reasoning to explain that language does exist outside of what we are familiar with.
I'm not quite sure why you continue to use the word "emotive". That word, under Merriam-Webster, is described as being part of language. And I would absolutely describe those "emotives" as a part of language. Yes it doesn't resemble any word or structure, however a sigh or body language can very much represent complex emotions and feelings.
Language is simply every way we can communicate and comprehend each other.
A great example of this (especially when it collides with other issues) is explored in this episode of Esther Perel's <u>Where Should We Begin?</u>
> A husband and wife met while deeply committed to the evangelical faith and didn’t kiss until their wedding day; for her, that kiss felt like “kissing her brother.” Esther gets creative in an effort to help them create a new sexual relationship.

I disagree. It’s not about money, or what their customers want. The media has been a propaganda arm of the CIA for decades now. See Operation Mockingbird.
What better way to control the population than keep them constantly traumatized, angry, agitated, and terrified, then to make them believe that bad things are always happening? What better way to convince people to give up their Constitutional freedoms then to convince them it is absolutely necessary in order to keep them “safe”? The Patriot Act basically destroyed our fourth amendment rights, and nobody thought it was a problem, because we needed to spy on terrorists to keep us “safe” after 9/11. Americans just had the attitude, “Well...I have nothing to hide, so spying on me is okay if it helps catch bad guys.” What they don’t realize is that whichever government holds the reigns can suddenly decide who the bad guys are.

Will need to be signed in.
There are plenty of helpful settings on that page, such as 'mute participants on entry', and then only the host can unmute people. Stops people from doing stupid stuff.
If you can help your father apply the right settings, make sure he knows how to mute/unmute and turn the camera off for his students (you can call him and he can test it on you).
Yep! Here is an article about it from the Mayo Clinic.
Something I'd like to underscored is that SAD doesn't only manifest depression during the winter in those who are otherwise happy, it also exacerbates the struggles those who are currently battling depression. At least in my experience I've seen it happen both ways. Major shout-out to those in Pacific Northwest who are sort of immune to it.

Is your app for Android? If so, I think Java sounds like the best tool for the job. Since you said it's mostly a way to connect to different web pages, it should be challenging, but not impossible for a beginner. Sounds like a perfect first project, actually. What made you choose C#?
Also, for mockups, you might consider using something like Figma to design it! I'm actually a TA for a user experience course at my university, so I can give you tips if you'd like. :)
Python is no more or less advanced than C# (I use both frequently) though they differ slightly in the domains they cover.
C# is an excellent choice for a first language - particularly with Microsoft pushing hard to make .Net genuinely cross-platform and open sourcing large swathes of the .Net world with .Net Core (Anders Hejlsberg (the lead developer during creation of C#) is my favourite programmer of all time, I've loved everything he has ever worked on including his latest project TypeScript (aka Sane Javascript)).
On the topic of your understanding been sub-par I'll make an assertion - every single working developer has at *least* one area where their understanding is sub-par (if we make an exception for John Cormack and his like - some people are just not human), the field is absolutely vast and no-one can be competent in all areas (at once, you will find your competencies will change over time) - the trick is to accept that and know when it matters.
I have a good understanding of enterprise development and web technologies (plus a reasonable understand of C#/WPF, Python and a handful of other things) but I don't have the first clue how to make a cube rotate in OpenGL - It's simply never come up for me - I know people who are better than me in any single thing I'm good at which is handy because I know who to poke with a stick when I'm really stuck though I never ask for a solution only pointing in the right direction.
Currently I'm teaching myself Kotlin (https://kotlinlang.org/) and I'm reveling in all the things I don't know because a year from now I will know them (and there will still be a bunch of things I don't know).
Understanding what you don't know is the *critical* step to mastering anything in my opinion.
Nice catch got it on point 0.5163, as for why the debug runtime didn't throw an error i have no idea, but i am not using a standalone compiler i am using this https://repl.it/languages/cpp11

Like with any creative endeavour, the key to getting good at it is to just do it a bunch!
Theres plenty of free tools out there these days to get you into the thick of things. Check out something like unity or Godot, both have plenty of tutorials you can use to learn the ropes of the engine, and then just make games.
