Thank you very much for posting the name and artist. Did a Google search and discovered many more of the same art from Mr Mikael Gustafsson. Love it. Going to make a screen saver of the different images. Thanks.
Edit: Holy crap it's animated. Asset packs for Unity.
That's Fan Bingbing.
You're welcome.
Wow... Didn't think this would get to the front page, but thanks. I was just messing around with different ideas.. /u/jpblah already gave you the link to the nebula one... Here is the other one:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/12984019/What-Space-Really-Looks-Like
and the uhh original wallpaper
Don't know if I'm doing it right, but the actual resolution is 1000x641 for me.
176 people upvoted and only one noticed the resolution???
Here is the original (1920 x 1195) at pexels
https://www.pexels.com/photo/flight-landscape-nature-sky-36717/
Looks like the library in the Jay Walker house (House on the Rock), in Wisconsin.
Here's a much less flattering image.
Apologies guys, I'm not very good at design, i'm more of a programmer. I found this quote and quickly made a background of it in photoshop. I got my inspiration for the design from this http://imgur.com/vmIkz Franklin quote.
If you want to change anything you don't like or just change the size feel free to download the PSD:
It annoys more than just you. It makes me wonder if this was part of a larger photoshoot that's out there... Maybe it can be "fixed"
Edit: it's from Maxim http://www.imagebam.com/image/7a8792199449078
in the future, you can use pixlr.com to do re-sizes like this very easily. Just open up the picture and go to Image and then either Image Size or Canvas Size, depending on what you want to do. Hope that helps!
I actually used IOGraph http://iographica.com/ to record my mouse movements at work for about an hour. Then I used PhotoPlus to make a negative of it. Then Did some image filter ("Cartoon" I think) then did a Tilt-Shift filter. Pretty cool I guess. PhotoPlus is shareware, but IOGraph is free.
It took me half an hour but I finally found it. Murrays Bay, North Shore, Auckland, NZ. Here's the photographer's flickr.
Edit: Chris Gin photographed a large chunk of the wallpapers that get posted here, so I though you might appreciate this archive of his wallpapers-sized photographs which includes dates, locations, and other information.
A beautiful high-resolution copy of the Spectrum of the Sky album cover by Break Of Reality. Also in 1920x1080.
Was listening to Pandora and when I saw the album art I had to go find it for wallpaper.
Did my best.
Unfortunately my Photoshop skills are rudimentary at best, but I liked this wallpaper and may use it myself, so I gave it a go. It's bigger, anyway.
Isn't this Bora Bora? I am not sure of the exact name of the middle island but I thought it was Bora Bora in the French Polynesian islands.
Are you using firefox? This made my life easier during my 4chan days. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-images/
Thanks to the kommunist kid. Great collection. ALSO, what the hell is up with the downvotes?
This is probably one of my favorites. I had this wallpaper for the longest time on my desktop. I still have it on my laptop.
Here you go [2560x1600]
Other resolutions are on interface lift
The only reason I cared was because of that annoying and unnecessary "e" on the end of sky.
It turns out the original (thanks fletchnuts.) doesn't even have the atrocious mispelling.
I still wouldn't care, because two innocent mistakes are just that, but the mod/OP looks exactly like a spammer whose only submissions are from (I presume) his site.
Individually, each of these things is barely notable, but faplol, if you're going to steal other people's work and repost it to your own website so that you can spam reddit for hits or karma or greed or whatever you're trying to gain from this - while holding the position of responsibility supposed to protect reddit from this behaviour - then you deserve the community crucifixion that comes when the community is made aware of such selfish activities. And modding subreddits while potentially being a spammer is not something that's previously been tolerated particularly well.
As an aside, I do like this submission, this subreddit and imagelol seems inoffensive as of writing this. However, there is no excuse for ripping off other people's work onto a site that you spam excessively, AND MISPELLING A FUCKING THREE LETTER WORD.
Thanks for the wallpaper, though!
Thanks for the larger ones! The original was roughly square so I've tiled a few more on the right hand side so the aspect ratio isn't completely destroyed :)
Apologies for the SendSpace links, I would have preferred imgur but it compressed the larger version so much that it looked dreadful. It seems like every file sharing website with a better reputation has become registered users only... bloody US government and their scaremongering :P. If anyone wants me to reupload somewhere else I will take suggestions!
It's a reverse image search. You put the link of an image and it searches for possible sources and similar images across the web. It's quite useful when all you have is a small thumbnail, and you're looking for the original picture.
Here's the chrome extension.Which allows you to simply right click on any image and do a tineye search. Very practical.
Else you can also go directly to the website.

All of these wallpapers are OC, made in Inkscape. Enjoy! Post suggestions in the comments! On the to-do list are Sonic, Fire Emblem, Banjo Kazooie, FF, etc. I am also thinking of doing an album cover set, comment if you would like a specific artist or album done.
use http://dualmonitortool.sourceforge.net/ to stitch three images together as you see fit.
i've got three mismatched monitors and i'm using three different wallpapers of epic mythology in a triptych of sorts, creation, birth of life, an apocalypse
I made some wallpapers to promote some posters I'm trying to get funding for via kickstarter! Check out the project for a real life wallpaper (aka poster).
Not everyone has a taskbar, or a even a tall taskbar on there system. For example I run Awesome WM and all I have is a small ~16px high bar at the bottom of my screen that displays track information for the currently playing song and a few other things of interest. So in cases like mine the uneven bars would get annoying.
You could try using Fences.
There was a time when I used it, before I eventually got rid of all my icons and either docked/taskbar-ed them. If you want a little preview of what it looked like for me, you can check it out (but do note that I did stylize mine somewhat, it generally looks more simple with standard icons/sizes): http://i.imgur.com/YU3cf.jpg
I agree with the motion of removing desktop icons. Instead, I launch all programs with Launchy.
Whenever I install an application and it puts a shortcut on the Dektop, I use the send to menu to copy it to the folder that Launchy looks for files in, and then delete the icon on the Desktop.
I guess I just like really minimal wallpapers with lots of negative space, which are quite hard to find.
A site for you:
Really loved the owl. It's now my desktop!
The process of HDR photography can be difficult though. True HDR pictures are taken over three different bracketed exposures... This picture was one RAW, converted to 3 exposures in Adobe Lightroom, then processed in Photomatix.
Yup, it's a photoshop. The original can be found here: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details/2846/moonset.html
The artist/photographer is from Italy, and that's the location of the lake pictured. Too bad he hasn't tried submitting more.
Interfacelift is a great source of wallpapers because serious photographers post some of their best landscapes, nature shots, and photoshop works there.
I'm a little disappointed as I enjoyed your first post, but I found this picture rather familiar. It's different enough that I downloaded yours for my wallpaper but the similarities are numerous. Sorry.
Can I actually download this as a background from flickr?
I honestly prefer this shot.
It is so much more personal. I like the overhead shot but being able to see peoples' faces (even just a little bit) gives it that much more emotion.
I use Fotosizer to re-size all of my photos if I have a lot of them and Irfran View for singular stuff/little tweaks.
I'll try and see if I can find the higher resolution ones on my hard drive. If not, you might be better off just using TinEye.
I was able to achieve this a long time ago by using the VLC Player. I googled that for you and found a guide how to do this here, but I am not sure if that was the way that worked for me. Maybe you give it a try...
Two things. First, making a picture larger usually doesn't work. Bad things happen. Second, Tineye and Google's reverse image search are great for this kind of thing. In other news, I did find a 1600x1000 version.
There's a few others featuring narwhals in the community wallpaper pack, check out - http://www.webupd8.org/2011/03/ubuntu-1104-community-wallpapers.html
I'm not much of a purple fan, but I do still really like this wallpaper.
Sure thing! Step by Step instruction on "Embedding" a terminal into your desktop Then I have a bash script that launches it on start with rtorrent. looks like this...
#!/bin/bash sleep 32 gnome-terminal --window-with-profile=<Profile Name> --command=rtorrent --geometry 112x30-50+50 &
The sleep is because it MUST load after compiz AND conky. I have my conky starting script load at 30 seconds. The the stuff after the geometry parameter is WIDTH x HEIGHT -/+ Horizontal Padding -/+ Vertical Padding.
Good luck!
It's not, it's from 2014, years before the game. There used to be a live website where you could change the time of the day & the colors of the art accordingly, but that's been down (afaik).

This is clearly by the comic author known as "Jason". Check out his other stuff if you're into that sort of thing. Here's his Goodreads page.
I am using Multi Links and Snap Links for opening a small amount of links, but yours is great for a big amount.
Funny thing that on the addon's firefox page all the screenshots are from chrome.

This one took a bit of digging to find. Lots of people are using it without attribution.
I use unsplash.com to randomly change the background on Spotify with my script.
Today this picture showed, and it blew me away.
But I can't find it, anyone who recon this pic and can provide a link?
A wonderful sunrise one morning at Durdle Door in Dorset. That time of year the sun rises to the left of the Door, whichh creates a wonderful opportunity for getting the light just hitting the top of the rock as it does here. A wonderful place, and even better at 6 am with no crowds!! ( <strong>Durdle Door, Dorset, UK</strong> )
You can! All of the tools are free and there are a ton of tutorials and documentation available. There’s a steep learning curve for sure, though.
On a side note, I think he has a distinct style, this Leonid Afremov.
Bigger resolution on the stock photo website OP pilfered this from; https://pixabay.com/photos/the-road-beams-path-forest-nature-815297/
The puppy picture that you took in 2015 under another name, in another country, and kindly put under a public domain Creative Commons license? And that picture of "your city's forest" that you also put in the public domain in 2016 under yet another name, in yet another country?

You can use this editor and use a tool named Liquify , just use picture that have similar colors to this one and im 100% sure you will able to do similar wallpaper to this one.
I know it's not as easy as downloading a pre-made PNG, but you can use Inkscape to open the SVG and export it to PNG in whatever resolution you want.
Edit: NVM, I see OP has uploaded a 1440p version.

Okay, I tried looking for a source, and the best I could find is that it's by someone who posts under the name "ıʞn".

Are they worth the money? Been seeing those around here and there and they looked really nice to have, especially the start10 program.
Start10: http://www.stardock.com/products/start10/
Fences: http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/download.asp
Let me know if anyone else has a free program that does either of the above, it would be nice to have that stuff. I also suppose you could just paint the background to have it, kinda inelegant though. Brings me back to Rocket-dock, anyone remember using that?
You can still have colorful wallpapers and be able to see your icons clearly. You just don't want a busy background. Stick with simple, minimal designs, and you'll be set.
SimpleDesktops might have some stuff that you'll like, it's also worth Googling "minimalist wallpaper".
I use a program called neodownloader. I used to use a imgur specific album downloader but the lite version of neodownloader is free, easy to use, puts pics in a nice folder, and can download pics from any website.
A lot of these wallpapers I've seen on InterfaceLIFT which is a great website for multiple resolutions, and a variety of beautiful wallpapers. (I am not associated with that website in anyway other then that I've been a regular on it for over 5 years.)
Compilation of my favorite wallpapers from InterfactLIFT:
http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/downloads/date/any/
Sorry I don't have a ZIP folder for anyone interested, I'm not sure of any websites I could use to create one.
the author made a sort of halfassed attempt to credit at the bottom, but doesn't know where they came from. Worth mentioning that some of them are from http://interfacelift.com ...that site gets a lot of high quality original outdoors/HDR photography, with notes by the artists.
By sn0dig. It used to be on InterfaceLIFT but I can't find it anymore. Apparently he had it removed after some abuse. ...or something.

I found out about it here, but the Newgrounds link is broken.
So I searched around. It's not called "Your Destiny", it's "My Destiny" by Brian Holmes, found here, (spamtastically provided with no pause button. Seriously, I find that worse than the 'watermark' "AUDIOJUNGLE" overdubbed every five seconds)
So i found the original artist, the wallpaper above is btw from a book called
Contact: Alpha Colony Book 2<--- link to the amazon page
And the artist is called Elias Stern, he dose a lot of great sci-fi art. Her a link to his ArtStation profile
Good one.
First thing that made me think of is, knocking on heavens door. And for some strange reason, look at the color of this book of the same name... Knocking on Heavens Door.
It could have been any colors but it just so happens to be real close to the colors in the wallpaper. Even the mountains are the color of the kettle.
The game is free to play on Google Play and App Gallery ( for now ). And you can find it here :

I'll recommend the book that helped me do this. "Turning the Mind Into an Ally". You can ignore the bhudist aspects of it, but the talk about meditation and breathing can help you relax, but mid way through reading the book something "clicked" inside me. Good luck.
Oh its completely possible. The introduction of horses allowed the natives to move what was once great distances very fast. It was amazing how horses changed the Native American life and cultural structure. There are even theories that claim that the introduction of horses to the natives were as damaging as the Europeans themselves. The reasoning is that it allowed the natives to war with one another more intensely and faster than ever before. Horses and rifles became like nuclear weapons in terms of competition for them and the necessity for them to win your battles and defend your people. Horses literally kicked off an arms race among natives. This is why the Comanche and Apaches were so feared by other natives and settlers alike. These groups used their horses with bows and later rifles like no other and they learned to use them against Europeans and other natives alike with incredible proficiency. I highly recommend this book. Goes into a great amount of detail from first contact all the way until the 20th century.
