There are some apps that you can use to dim tablet screen whileusing it as 2nd display.
I used Pixel Filter in a past while i had similar setup as yours.
I do have app installed : Desktop Hub Premium Version.
With this app i am getting a lot of keyboard short cut functions like snapping windows on the left or right side of the screen.
EDIT:
All the shortcut keys this app gives you:

Try Retro Arch! There you have a nice GUI and different Emulators (cores) in ONE App!! Works Great with DEX and XBox Controller!

I think he means Shadow Cloud PC
https://shadow.tech/int/discover
Basically you pay to have a PC somewhere, then it streams to you via an internet connection.
I've got this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3XHMP1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I wanted a device that would have enough power to charge my Zenscreen touch, while I use Dex, and this thing sure does get the job done. It's one of the only adapters I've found that will output video to a USB C monitor.
I've noticed it will sometimes glitch out and not run dex until I give it a power cycle and then it works reliably again, but it doens't happen often.
It's huge.
I wish the main USB c host cable was detachable.
The power broke is almost as big as the device itself
I could recommend to install a simple app called black screen, so even when doesn't "turn off" the screen, since is an amoled it would go all black the link of the one I use for my note 20 is this one Black Screen App you could even set it up with a Bixby routine that when you connect dex it starts automatically the app or put it in quicksettings and with a simple press it is on
Previously it was on Indiegogo, but it was axed after the supporter units were shipped. Now it's manufactured by a company called Hagibis - the only link I have is from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087TDRNSQ/
opera web browser
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.browser
to answer your question Yes we really desktop web browser would really help us.
it does not need to be chrome it could be Firefox or Microsoft Edge
Samsung has a really good relationship with Microsoft so I think if we got a real desktop web browser it would come from Microsoft.
Nice job.
That's the same as the Eviciv which can be had in the U.S. but branded under Uperfect's name.
There is a lot of Chinese brand licensing with these things. I'm not sure who exactly was first to make it.
Maybe thats something? When I use it on Windows I'm on a desktop.
I use this cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V9PXXKD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_3cgbGbT3WXZZ6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Maybe every so often I'll notice a tiny bit of lag but it's nothing major at all, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Usb-c portable monitors are great but getting lapdock is better. I don't have a lapdock right now but I do have a portable monitor setup. It works and all but you have to have table setup to use it comfortably. But with a lapdock you're basically using a laptop which allows you to use anywhere. But if that's not. Problem for you, I personally have a Portable Touchscreen Monitor. I recommend a USB-C Hub. If you get a a regular usb hub you're limiting your experience. The Dex Docks don't work if you want touchscreen. It's technically possible buy you have to do a lot of trickery. And your setup will look a little ugly.
Ideally you need something like this, that allows you to use dex on a monitor with hdmi, charge your phone and connect usb devices at the same time.
The monitor can be any monitor with hdmi input and you connect an hdmi cable from the dex station to the monitor.
https://www.amazon.com/-/es/dp/B079TL2TGY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_UzY.Fb5D1BXHR
Another option is this usb c to hdmi cable and you can connect your phone to the monitor, but you won't be able to charge it or use wired keyboard and mouse (you will have to use bluetooth ones)
I have this unit branded under another name.
Haven't had it long but it's what the NexDock Touch should have been.
I haven't tried that but I have a third party USB-C hub with an official Nintendo power supply tossed on it for the power and it works with both my Switch AND DeX: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6GXHKV
I keep it in the bedroom with the official Nintendo dock in the living room. I guess it doesn't really matter anymore for me in regards to DeX though cause all my TVs are Samsung and I can connect wireless now and my keyboard/mouse/controller were bluetooth anyway.
But it's nice to have a single docking solution for both products when traveling
Well. I use dex as my main machine for quite a while now. All started with S8+. Switch to all DeX about 8 - 10 months. My YouTube channel is basically all about DeX. and what you can/can't do.
You mentioned printing? What about this ? What about this app? I think with this app you can make any printer be cloud printer and then you just print from DeX.
What make and model of your printer. might be android app to send printing directly to printer.
Install Dex Hub and then Desktop Browser for Samsung Dex https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtechnologies.dexprofile

With this you should be able to achieve what you want.
I use mainly Moonlight, but it requires a nvidia gpu to work. It supports gamepads as well as mouse&keyboard and the image quality is perfect, especially at higher bitrates.
Another option I use sometimes is Steam Link, it supports GPUs from nvidia and AMD, but mouse support is a bit lacking, also it is not working that well with games outside Steam.
Most adapters will do 1080p, but very few will go beyond that. If the DeX pad doesnt work for you, I can post an Amazon link to the one 3rd party adapter that did give me ultrawide and higher than 1080.
But the price was only like $5 less than the DeX pad, it still didn't give me usb3 or gigabit ethernet; and there's always the chance that Samsung may change DeX compatibility in the future which (intentionally or not) may create issues with 3rd party adapters. But out of the 6 or so I tried 1080p always worked.
Here is the 3rd party one I used which supported Ultrawide and resolutions beyond 1080p:

Obviously you can go in to spec and start comparing all the numbers [ GSM Arena ]
For me, Note 9 just better then S9 lineup or even S10 lineup.
Because S9+ and Note 9 so similar on spec paper, all this down to how do you like look and feel. For me S9+ feels to tall :)
Hope my experience can be helpful. I've been obsessed with having only one device to do everything and soon realized that samsung with dex and s pen support was the way to go for me. I've been using dex since the s9 (now I'm a proud owner of a fold 3)and can assure you that adding cloud services to the "dex experience" is GREAT. I tried a couple of services by now but the things I've settled with are Shadow (https://shadow.tech/) to substitute a PC (if you prefer the mac approach I know of the existence of macincloud) even with a powerful one ( deals with gaming, video editing, and matlab with no problems) and to satisfy my gaming habit Stadia, I found it MUCH higher quality than xcloud or GFN and don't need to pay for subscription, I like paying only for the games I play. Shadow by itself is great for playing, I used it as my only platform for a couple of years but I prefer the more console like experience with stadia thanks to the controller and chromecast support. In any case, even on 4G (so I would say from 15mbps) I can assure you that you'll rarely encounter any sort of latency or annoying video artifacts. I can also suggest to use Andronix to get some local more advanced stuff done on Linux in the rare occasions Internet is not available.
Microsoft working on DaaS - Desktop as a Service too, which will be a good solution for businesses. But for me, Shadow good enough, can play wide range of PC games, run almost any standard windows software (Adobe, MS, whatever).
Not that I'm a massive advocate of Shadow, it isn't perfect, but it's good enough that I do now regret spending just over £1.5K on a laptop that I'll never get my money's worth out of.
I can carry RDR2 in my pocket. It needs better USB peripheral support.
I only found out about this feature a few weeks ago. But it isn't available for my tablet anyway. There's an open source feature anyway called SCRCPY (screencopy) that worked flawlessly. For Windows, Macintosh and Linux. also isn't restricted to Samsung devices.
I personally use CodeSandbox https://codesandbox.io/ and Amazon Cloud 9 in Samsung Internet and they work great. In DeX you can press F11 to get Samsung Internet in fullscreen, and that works quite well.
I use my old s8 active for Dex as a media hub for my tv. I control it with my note 20 using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.appground.blek
Works great for me. If you get the premium version there's even a home/back button support as well as a keyboard.
In the past couple days i had to remotlly connect to my office PC. I used AnyDesk. Not perfect but i got job done. Setup process is easy. If you PC has more then one monitor connected (my office pc has 4) switching between them is a bit confusing (at least for me)

Total Commander has a file/multiple file mouse drag and drop function between two side by side windows. Download the Totalcmd-Drive plug-in for Google Drive support and there is one for OneDrive (https://www.ghisler.com/androidplugins/download/). Like most DeX file management, it is quirky (long press/short press/drag behaviour, etc) but does have wildcard file selection and once you get the hang of it, it is very efficient.
Nothing like a 'proper desktop OS' file management though and I have used a Linux emulator (UserLand) in the past for file management and websites needing a desktop compatible browser/in-browser PDF and flash support.
you don't need hdmi cable. just plug your device to macbook using your usb-c to usb-c cable and that's it. oh, of course, you should install dex application on mac. download it here
Really? You mean THIS one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=videoeditor.videorecorder.screenrecorder&hl=en_US&gl=US
Thank you so much for this Information!!!!!!

I have no coins to say Thank you! Only a free Pedo bear award :-) he he :-) But it's yours!!
I'd give it at least 300 nits based on experience. But like most glossy displays of this ilk you'll be able to shave while watching the morning news with it. :) Quality is superb - plenty of ports. The OSD navigation (On Screen Display) takes some getting used to but don't they all?
Have owned 2 lapdocks as well but prefer this unit with a BT keyboard/mouse. I have a full review around here somewhere but u/MRP_yt has a nice video review of the unit on his channel you can find here.
Now, if you want something with a matte finish that's a bit larger then I also had this. Sent it back because it was just a tad too unwieldly for my tastes. Matte finishes diminish the brightness of most displays but this by far was the most pleasant to use (indoors).
These days there's really a lot of options to build a nice mobile Dex station. Nothing like it was just 18 months ago.
https://www.amazon.com/HZONE-Wireless-Mirroring-Receiver-Projector/dp/B085R92J7Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=miracast+adapter&qid=1627141443&sr=8-16 I also ordered this one several months ago which also works smoothly, but it is limited at 1080p.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084NVPSJ7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_mob_b_product_details
Just ordered and tested this one a few days ago..despite the reviews, it worked perfectly between my Note 10+ and my monitor..it would however not display video from Hulu, so i am guessing the TV is blocking that ability. The adapter worked compltely smooth with no lag. I even connected it to my 5GHZ router and it still worked just as smooth. It does display in the resolution that it says on the Amazon page, but you might have to log into the adapter and change the resolution manually. As far as i can tell, it does not display a picture bigger than 16:9 format.
I might be wrong but it looks very much like this one; https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08B8X4KBV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've got 3x of them
Kiwi Browser is a Chromium-based browser that lets you install extensions.
Not every extension works, but you can try the extension that the message tells you and see if it works.
I think Autosync is the best solution, i use for the same reason, bonus point you can also back up the app settings so you don't have to configure it in the eventuality you need said backup.

FYI the Java version of Minecraft is also available on android and it has mouse support. Thanks to the PojavLauncher. I downloaded it from GitHub, but I see it is on the PlayStore now.
Just finished recording a video about Omlet Arcade. Allows you to stream to: Omlet.gg / Facebook / YouTube or Twitch.
Haven't used it that much. Looks decent. Won't be any harm if you try it with FREE tier.
My Note9 overheats since I run my Dex like a laptop (video, teamviewer, chrome) and this cooler keeps it very chilly. The Skullnco overheat so I put it on it and it worked just fine but it barely fits so I'm testing a diff peltier cooler. They get VERY cold to the touch.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GZ5D9CB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think it's more of a question if it'll work with the switch. I've tried so many docks that work with DeX but not my switch.
I ended up with an iogear dock pro 60 ... Amazon link
Given Sentio is abandonware at this point, and there are fundamental aspects of it which remain broken or hobbled, I'd not bother with it.
Instead, I recommend Taskbar. Even better if you have Lineage OS based on Android 10 so you can leverage the desktop mode framework that's baked into Android 10/11. You would need an unlocked bootloader to do this though.
I dunno... looks like a lot of eggs in one basket. One failure point and the whole thing might be worthless.
I prefer my choice of hubs and an external SSD.
They don't support 1440p for wireless dex (for whatever reason) and I read somewhere that the monitor doesn't give you the option to do 1440p wired (unless you have a fan dongle for phones) or tablet.
I ended up passing on the monitor and got this one instead: LG 32UL500-W 32 Inch UHD (3840 x 2160). It didn't make sense to me to sacrifice on display quality and pay more for something that doesn't really enhance the wireless dex experience (1080p dex even with scale set to minimum isn't great imo).

very interesting unit, when you said it had audio, i thought you meant it had a 3.5mm jack, not that it had BUILT IN SPEAKERS lol
man, i'm not gonna lie, this is really interesting that it's playing nice with DeX

If you don't know this app, it means you don't have it installed, and this key combo was never triggered. My solution won't work
Appears to be similar if not exactly like the EvicIV available on U.S. Amazon for much more. For some the faster shipping and no-hassle Amazon return policy might be worth the extra $100.
I have one. Display is very nice and the color scheme is fully adjustable. That "Tent" mode is quite handy for video consumption.
NexDock will be shipping something similar in a few months but theirs will have an extra USB port for accessories. (This EvicIV does not have that). Also not sure if the NexDock 360's display can be adjusted. There are many display variants out there.

>I use my 65" TV as my monitor
I'm not at that stage yet. I have a Nexdock Touch that I use with my Note. Maybe I might get myself a Samsung Dock (whatever its called) and use my old smaller TV with it - shrug.
>Buttons/Icons
Yeah it has improved. But I also find when it comes to keyboard input (when I'm using my S6 Tab) and not using the book cover case I need to use Hackers Keyboard even with some of that apps that I use. Its fustrating as hell with Samsungs & Googles Keyboard layout and input.
> DOCX
Oh this shits me right off! I swear I wish MS would f- the hell off with their proprietary formats and use the open standard ( OpenDocument ). I can rant about it all day although I think we both think the same thing by reading your paragraph on this matter lol
Thanks for your reply though, it was interesting and it did cover some of the thoughts & questions that I had (what if's/etc).
I used to use Octopus but be careful with such apps.
I strongly recommend just sticking to games that support bt controllers. I know it's a pain finding them.
Try installing an app called Dex Max (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.masmas.dexmax)
And try launching using that. It tries to modify the runtime to allow resizing etc.
If that doesn't work try the pro or manual mode or something like that, cant remember what its called. When you select the app, it unpacks it, modifies it and then reinstalled a molded version that may provide better dex support.
If that doesn't work then I have no other ideas but you may need to uninstall the modded version and reinstall the normal one if it doesn't work.
Do you have any other USB devices plugged in into HUB ? Like usb keyboard/mouse/external HDD?
Out of curiocity, download this app and check charging stats. Share a screenshot. I will do the same when i will connect Note 9 to my DeX setup.
The app is called Thermal Monitor by a dev in Spain.
Link here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rollerbush.thermal
Also Exynos S10+ user here, need all the thermal advantages lol.
I don't think that an IDE with that feature (find in files) exists for Android. But recently saw a screenshot from fellow DeX user, who had installed a few applications I didn't know.
One of those apps was Acode. I've been testing it and while it is not without its faults, I think, it is the best code editor for Android/DeX.
It supports opening folders as projects and displaying the folder three with subfolders and such. When reopening the app the folder would be still open, so you can quickly resume work on your project. It has autocomplete (for HTML at least). In DeX the cursor behaves like a desktop app, unlike most other apps.
I have tested it less on the phone itself, but it looks to be working fine there too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soomapps.screenmirroring Tap on Select then it will take you to a screen in the Settings, then choose the 3 dots then choose Enable Wireless Display. You have to have "Projecting to this PC" enabled on a computer for it to appear
Maybe try this instead? Not as cheap, but maybe you could build one? I have one and it works well clamped to my desk. I just position my phone above my monitor and it looks as though I'm looking directly at the person I'm talking to even if I'm reading something on my main screen.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07ZPZWYLZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3kJHFbB7FN49T
I went with this magnetic one because it's pretty stable for heavier devices and the mount is the only thing that has the magnets. The metal discs go on the devices so when you're worried about magnets, you can just pull the attachment that does have the magnets off. Also makes it simple to move between devices - so I can just pop it off and switch between my laptop, portable display, or my lapdock when it comes.
Funny you say you placed the plate high - I solved this by lowering it to match how the Pitaka cases have it.
I am sure that i mentioned it in couple of my videos:
Once i connect it and i do have displaylink presenter app installed, it detects this adapter and starts asking me if i want to "broadcast" using it. I will need to do updated video about it.
So the monitor should be powering the Phone? So, as long as the monitor can be plugged in, it should pass power through?
This monitor has two USB C ports. Do you think that would work if you plugged it to the wall with one and the phone with the other?

First of all, thank you for posting your review !!!
About Shift + Space. Not sure if you know - there is an app called Desktop Hub, and with pro version give you option to disable shift+space.
This option will be availible after donation to dev is made, can't remember actual amount as i donated quit a while ago while was using S8+. I think amount is around $7 or $8. By the way, after buying pro version, you will get more keyboard shortcuts not only option to turn Shift + Space on/off. Here is some of them, i can't fit them all in one screen shot :)
Yandex Browser is a good option although may not support all the chrome extensions: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yandex.browser
[EDIT: I normally use it on my tab s4 for more heavy browsing task that normally can be addressed on LoD due to the low RAM amount in that device, and works fine].
You're welcome.
My external hard drive was in NTFS but i changed it to exfat as i didnt want to use a third party app i would much rather use the built in Samsung file explorer and it only takes literally seconds once you have everything backed up. If you don't want to mess buying a new hard drive or formatting an existing one you can use this app to mount NTFS but as i said it costs money to use... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.tcplugins_ntfs_ro.
Another tip is that dragging and dropping files is possible but it took me a few minutes of trial and error to figure it out. Basically long press left mouse button as you would long press with your finger on the phones display to bring up the multiselect interface where you would select multiple checkboxes for files you want. Then simply hold down left mouse button and drag the file to where you want it and it's as easy as that. It's probably common knowledge but it took me a few minutes of playing to figure out how to do it when i first got my dex so thought i would add that in there.
Also as mentioned above you can also use multistar from the goodlock app to have media play from more than one app at a time so basically the video wont pause when you select another app.. Some apps can do this without the need for multistar but some don't so if it's something you want to do thats another option.
Hancom office is great. They have partnered with Samsung to completely optimize hancom office for dex and i find it works very very well.
Desktop version of Chrome for DeX not available.
There is alternative app for that : Desktop Browser
My demo video here
From what i seen for other posts about this - app might struggle to work with multiple tabs. I used this app with around 7 - 10 tabs i haven't seen any issues. Your mileage may be different.
Update: I just uploaded it to google play. Its Pending publication so the first build will available soon.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monodata.dexide
Can i ask how you connected your 500GB SSD to DeX ?
Have you used any app to enable Read/Write ? I tried a while ago to connect external WD 2TB HDD with help from exFAT/NTFS app Maybe by now this option changed.
Capacitive styluses are dreadful for handwriting on phone screens, even the ones with 'fine nibs' which I bought in 2016 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dimples-Excel-Micro-Knit-Replacement-Micro-knit/dp/B01B7X4HOS?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_5867517031. Nothing compares to the S-Pen which I use with OneNote at meetings.
I suggest the Note9 or wait for the Note10 instead of buying the Tab S4 which runs on the same Snapdragon 835 chip as the Note8. With 4GB RAM, the S4 is actually worse than the Note8.

Try this. It needs an additional micro usb connection but worked with my S8
Samsung phones are only 5gbps though, and I can't do 4k60 with the ANker 555 since it only does with through DP1.4 (DeX devices are DP1.2). This one Is a better, safer option on higher resolution and higher refresh rate monitors. If you're only in 1080p, perhaps you can go for more feature rich hubs but they won't work well on other monitors so be aware.
Try this one. It one of the only DP1.2 compatible usb hubs (DeX runs with DP1.2), that don't bottleneck the DP bandwidth to allow more bandwidth to the other ports. USB ports are 2.0 and ethrnet is 480mbps, but that's the best you'll get with any other setup considering the USB 3.2 gen 1 x 2 is only 5 Gb per second.
Try this one. It is the only one that fully supports the DP1.2 in dex, while not limiting the DP bandwith for other ports. Any hub that is DP 1.4 only will be limited and is definitely not guaranteed to work.
both my TB3 and TB4 docks are limited to 1080p60 on a 4k144hz monitor. DP 1.4 hubs are limited to 4k and 1440p, but 30hz only.
You might only get 1080p. That's the case for me with both of my thunderbolt 3 and 4 docks. Try this one one instead, it's one of the only docks out there that support 4k60 with non DP 1.4 devices.
>And it's like 300 box these days. I paid $461 for the 512 GB version
I'd sure like to know where you're finding it for that price
cause it's still like 1000+ around here
Hey,
Your monitor is set to 1440p output right (most don't even seem to allow you to set it on the OSD)? Also I'm sure you've checked this but you're of course on the latest OneUI and Dex version (if you weren't I think you'd be locked to 1080p)?
Also is your phone screen off? Supposedly that makes a difference. There's a setting in Dex to keep the screen off - it's called something like "screen keyboard location", set that to "monitor".
My adaptor is this, quite old now. Make sure it's a decent adaptor that's rated for at least 2160/60 (though your monitor only has HDMI 1.2 which only support 1440/75 and 2160/30) otherwise there could be a miscommunication.
Failing that you could try a USB C to HDMI cable, something like this (and if it doesn't work return it).
If none of that works then then you could try DP to USB-C (though I assume your computer is plugged into the DP) or if all fails contact Samsung support.
If nothing works then I assume you've tried setting to 2160p? It probably looks better than 1080p as 1080p output on a 1440p looks awful as 1080p cannot scale evenly on a 1440p display. The only downside is there is a chance using your monitor you'll be stuck on 30hz. Oh, and 720p probably looks better than 1080p on a 1440p display as it can scale evenly!
Good luck!
I use an Anker usb-c hub connected to my monitor via HDMI. The hub also has charging PD pass-through, so I can just connect my phone to the hub and off to DeX is goes. Very simple.
I have this one but I'm sure there are newer/better ones now:
Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand+... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If small form-factor is desired, I recommend the USB C Charger, 45W Super Type-C Fast Charging PD 3.0 PPS Wall Charger Adapter for Samsung Galaxy S22/S22+/S22 Ultra/S21/S20/S10/S10e/S9/S8/Note 20/10+/9/8/Galaxy Tab S8+, with 6.6ft C-C Cable available on Amazon.
I have heard somewhere on this sub a long time ago, that aftermarket touchscreen kits work pretty well. So instead of looking for the perfect monitor that checks all your boxes, you might want to broaden your search to a monitor without touch of the right size with a Type-C input that also has USB-A ports for peripherals, and combine that with a touch kit to convert it into a touchscreen through those USB ports.
Literally the first search result I found: https://www.amazon.com/Touch-Point-Screen-Overlay-GlassTek/dp/B06XZV852C just so you have an idea what I'm talking about. Obviously you'll need to find something smaller. I don't know any brand to specifically recommend or avoid.
Hope this helps!
I would recommend this type of fold
I have the rollable one too but i find it too flimsy 😬
This one would work I guess https://www.amazon.de/ACEFAST-Ladeger%C3%A4t-Schnellladeger%C3%A4t-Kompatibel-Smatphones-Schwarz/dp/B0B18CMW88/ref=sr_1_3?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=35716P5MYHBE9&keywords=pd+charger+hdmi+out&qid=1670428139&sprefix=pd+charger+hdmi+out%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-3 and then use HDMI
That is way too expensive. I dont need an expensive dongle like that, in theory yes what you said is my backup plan. I could also use a usb-c hub with HDMI output, and connect that to the USB-c monitor, and also plug a usb cable together with the HDMI cable into it to power it. That would work. But I wanted a more elegant way so I would just would need 1 cable for power and video to the monitor. In theory, some cheap dock like this would for for that too:
You could use something like this, and use a USB-A to USB-C cable to connect the monitor? Or directly to the HDMI. I don't have a USB-C monitor to test it on but this dongle has worked flawlessly for everything else, including DEX. Takes PD power in as well.

that looks really fishy, I doubt it would work. but yes in theory, I am looking for something like that, also kinda this one is the same in theory: https://www.amazon.de/Hama-Smartphone-Ladeadapter-Anschluss-Lautsprecher/dp/B08YS32ZW7/ref=sr\_1\_3?\_\_mk\_de\_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=2SDEWKF75L0SC&keywords=hama+usb+c+2&qid=1670425086&sprefix=hama+usb+c+2%2Caps%2...
That makes zero sense. 250$? no thank you. there must be a cheap 20-50$ dongle which provides what I want. it is just a damn pass through, nothing difficult to build. I dont even need extra outputs, I just need a simple 2 way dongle, which would pass through the usbc data/video from the phone to a 2 way usbc hub, which you could also input PD, something like this:
But I think that one doesnt work for that I want.
You will have to download the APK from outside Play Store.
Like from apkmirror - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/linux-on-dex-beta/linux-on-dex-beta-1-0-51-release/linux-on-dex-beta-1-0-51-android-apk-download/
Scratch that--newest version doesn't want to run on my Note 9. This is the version I had before and verified just now that it still works:

Let me know if you can get any of the other updates running!
>4k support over hdmi if you have a hub/dock that supports it.
Good Lock with MultiStar module (or Fine Lock with Good Lock and MultiStar modules) provides 4K over HDMI with the proper HDMI-to-HDMI cable. The DockTeck USB-C hub dongle works with Samsung DeX. So far I only get 4K @ 30Hz but others have said turning off the smartphone screen results in 4K @ 60Hz; I still have to experiment with it.
I'm not familiar with chromecast, but perhaps all you need is a multiport usb-c hub. Something like this.
It's got hdmi port for connecting to a monitor and usb ports for connecting your wired mouse and keyboard.
Has anyone tried this one? It's a foldable one but it's getting good reviews on the Reddits that I play on. I don't have one yet, tho.
depends on how size sensitive you are....
if you're cool with a relatively full/normal size:
the answer is usually a logitech https://www.amazon.ca/Logitech-Wireless-Keyboard-Multi-Touch-920-003070/dp/B005DKZTMG
it's a decent logitech keyboard. it will work great
if you need space savings:
these are not nearly as good, but work in a pinch
I REALLY wanted to like this style, but I would also never want to rely on this for a work trip....
as an emergency keyboard/trackpad tho? it's a nice to have
I have this one (PurePoint Multi Port Cleaner) but I saw several cheaper alternatives looking for it again.
I use an Elecom Relacon for this (yeah, sounds like a Transformer, lol). Much more comfortable and reliable to have a trackball and dedicated scroll wheel that fits in hand as you walk around - or even if you're on a bumpy train or car ride.
This looks like it should do the job as it has built in Miracast support https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ZenScreen-Wireless-Portable-MB16AWP/dp/B0B17T5F4W?th=1 Alternatively, you could get any cheaper portable monitor with HDMI and use a Microsoft Wireless Display adapter to add Miracast
I have a few touch screen monitors and as long as it has a USB-A port, you connect it to a USB B port in the hub, and it should work.

BTW with termux, you can install Node.JS on android. Look at this link for more information:
The only way I can get 4K 60 Hz resolution with DEX is to use a USB-C to HDMI cable to directly connect my S22 Ultra to 4K TV/monitor (with higher resolution enabled in Multistar). This worked with One UI 4.1 and One UI 5. The downside is having to use BT keyboard/mouse.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CL2RHX5?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details&th=1
With One UI 5, it appears that DEX in 4K 60 Hz (and other resolutions) is possible via HDMI/USB docks (still need Multistar), but there are visual glitches with DEX. It does not fill the entire screen. There are black bars on both sides of the screen. Shadow effect around window's borders also broken. In 4K, it looks really ugly.
Thanks but I was hoping I could build something into the folio. I'd probably go back to the drawing board and stick something like this in the back but much smaller so it doesn't protrude so much. (https://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Desktop-Thickness-Universal-Computer/dp/B0854JRDXR/)
Honestly though it was a spur of the moment idea that I haven't given much thought of yet. Right now I just leave my phone closed on the table while using this diy lapdock. But she sure looks pretty with the extra screen. =)
You need a hub that allows power like the one I have. It will charge the phone/tablet and display out with two USB 3.X ports and ethernet. I use it with Switch, Steam Deck, and Dex. Works great with all of them.
